Great summer space for family time together. Get away from it all! Just added, spacious new Hot Tub on back deck.
This is just about the nicest and most relaxing rental in all of the North Shore. Quiet, charming and spacious custom home built in Old Tahoe style. We are always upgrading this property and just bought the lot next door to ensure that the fantastic peaceful views and feeling of the back deck is permanently protected. Wonderful hiking/cross country ski trails from back of the house to the bike path to North Tahoe Regional Park which has 5 lake view tennis courts, a large children's play ground, running and hiking trails, basketball, handball and sledding/cross country skiing in the winter.
Great Kingswood location between Northstar Ski resort and the Lake! Easy and short jaunt to the lake and the fun restaurants in Kings Beach, Tahoe Vista, Crystal Bay and Tahoe City. Truckee is less than 20 minutes away and has many excellent restaurants, great shopping and some interesting music venues! Lots of music at the Lake in the summer, year round at the Crystal Bay Club, 5 minutes away and in Truckee at Moody's Bistro on weekends, 18 minutes away. All season Ping Pong table provided for guests enjoyment. DVD, reading and CD library.
Dramatic river rock fireplace in great room. Master suite has fireplace, pine four poster bed and spacious bath/Jacuzzi Very private property backing to green belts and National Forest. High quality throughout. Tastefully decorated, lovely outdoor space and gourmet kitchen. Full sound system upstairs, whole house secure wireless internet.
We love the house in both summer and winter. Originally thought it would be more popular in the winter but have found that guests enjoy both seasons as well as the more quiet times with fall as a special treat.
This home has it all and is perfect for a family reunion, special time with friends and family. The kitchen/family room area is a natural gathering place for meals, to watch a movie, play games, listen to music and relax by the large fireplace. Many nooks and crannies throughout the property where you can curl up with a book (lots of books as well) In the summer enjoy the lawn on the side of the house where you can set up your chairs for afternoon cocktails or go to watch the kids play. Lot is mostly level with just enough of a grade for sledding. The double lot and National forest surrounding the house gives the property privacy and a real sense of being in the mountains and at the edge of it all.

Owner Description
Year Purchased: 1994
Life for the past couple of years has been an adventure. Travel has always been something that I loved and I had always wanted to live in a Latin culture.
Went to Argentina in 2009 to help a friend teach Lindy Hop and felt drawn to the country, the open social people, the lifestyle and tango. As I never could go to sleep early, am hyper social and like fun clothes (and spoke Spanish) it seemed like a natural fit and as my business was portable, off to Buenos Aires I moved. (I have a Vonage phone with a San Francisco number so you can call me wherever I am and that together with my on the ground local support in Tahoe keeps things running smoothly for the vacation rentals).
In Argentina I enjoy the cafes, tango dancing, putting on ridiculous outfits to go out dancing, live in a high rise which is quite different from the small sheep ranch in Sonoma County that I lived on for 25 years while raising my children, tango dance almost every night, do not sleep enough and work a lot from my 29th floor perch.
So far so good, the tango is improving to a passable point and the Spanish is much better, I have met some wonderful interesting people and love the travel that is possible.
In addition to this Tahoe house I also have a bit smaller charming cottage as well as 3 San Francisco flats well located atop Nob Hill, both web sites are linked to this page.
Over the last 18 years that I have been renting property in Tahoe many guests have become friends and enjoy returning to the property every year and one young man chose to spend his honeymoon at the house as he had such fond memories from his childhood. I love to share the warmth that this house has and know that others are enjoying it as I do when in California.
Why the Owner Chose Tahoe Vista
Welcome to my vacation rental web site. Tahoe is a special place, even at the highest season one can go just a little off the beaten path and discover solitude which is one of the many things that attracted me to building a house in the North Shore area. I like properties that, while not far from restaurants and other people have a feeling of privacy and particularly from the sides and back deck, the peace is lovely.
One of the aspects that I liked best when I bought the lot to build this house was the wonderful forest behind the house. Directly behind is Tahoe National Forest land, to the side is a lot I purchased to ensure privacy and next to that, open space in our development. Behind the National Park land is the North Tahoe Regional Park with bike paths, tennis courts, golf frisbee, running trails a FANTASTIC new children's playground, cross country skiing and on and on (baseball, soccer, basketball courts). The park is a 10 minute walk or quick bike ride so you can not hear any noise from the park but it is right nearby which is great.

The house and the surroundings are amazing! After a busy week in San Fransicso it was the perfect place to come to. It’s so calm and relaxing and the forest is so beautiful and good to walk in. We wished we could have had the time to stay longer. It would have been perfect to stay in the house with friends. It’s so big and cosy and the kitchen is so well equipped! The house is perfect for cooking and eating with many friends. And then sit in front of the fireplace in the evening. We hope we can come back one day when we visit the US again!

Indeed charming, comfortable, relaxing, peaceful, and clean--this was our second stay for our family of four at this beautiful house. Having stayed at numerous properties in the area before we love this location for any season. Equally comfortable with the spacious accommodations, in secure surroundings, we would be happy sharing this property with another family as well. The master bedroom is roomy and separate, with a cozy fireplace across from the bed. The master bathroom has two separate sinks,a large shower, a wonderful jacuzzi which is a refreshing addition for relaxing at anytime. This house makes you feel at home and yet indulgent. We will certainly look forward to our next visit.

This was an excellent choice for us (6 adults) over the Christmas holidays. We enjoyed skiing at Squaw, Alpine Meadows, and Northstar, visiting local towns, and the snow...etc. House was very well appointed, clean, and beautiful. Books and games are on-site, but you might want to think about bringing your own music/videos.House was roomy for 6, eight would be fine...Hope to visit again some time!

We have stayed in a number of houses in Tahoe which have all been lovely, but this house is by far the best for relaxation and natural beauty. It was simply amazing to spend the evening on the back balcony, sipping a glass of wine while viewing the trees and inhaling the fresh woodsy scents. A relaxing bath in the jacuzzi helped, too! During the day we could enjoy the natural beauty of Lake Tahoe without even getting into our car. We could just step out the backdoor and explore Tahoe National Forest with the children all day, finding a bike path through the forest (~ 1/4 mile), a regional park with a playground (~ 1/2 mile), and numerous hiking paths through the forest all the way down to the beach (~ 2 miles). Additional local natural attractions: Sand Harbor for the beach, Tahoe Meadows for easy, beautiful hikes with young children. The house is extremely clean, warm, & inviting, with space for everyone (even the nanny!). Toddlers to teenagers enjoyed the house. Kitchen had everything we needed for the week. Master bedroom was romantic and separated from the other bedrooms. We really appreciated that the children could just step out the back door to play. We didn't have to constantly get them in & out of carseats to "go somewhere" - we already were THERE.
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway.

Welcome to my guest book. Thank you for staying in Tahoe Retreat. Please fell free to share your experiences with other potential guests as well as any restaurant suggestions. Over the years many guests have written wonderful comments in our guest book at the house and have also shared great hikes, cute family stories, wonderful restaurant experiences as well as side day trips. We have enjoyed reading all of the comments and hope that you will add some to this site. Sincerely, Jennifer Solomon
