This unique riverfront cottage offers one bedroom down with sliding glass doors that open onto the deck overlooking the beautiful Carrabelle River. It has a queen size bed. Also downstairs is the living room, dining room, kitchen, and bath.
Upstairs is one bedroom opening to outside deck also overlooking the river with a double bed, and the other bedroom has a single/double bunk combination. This bedroom also opens onto a small deck. There is one bath upstairs. The view of the riverfront is awesome. The dock is great for lounging or fishing and will accommodate two large boats.
The location is great. The white sandy beach of Carrabelle Beach is just over a mile from the cottage. The property is only a few minutes by boat to the Carrabelle Bridge and less than two mile to the open waters of St. George Sound. If you like fresh water fishing, the Crooked River & New River are just around the bend. This is the greatest place for fishing, beachcombing, swimming, snorkeling, and eating fresh seafood. The famous" Apalachicola Bay Oysters" are here. If you like oysters, these are a must. Try them in one of our great restaurants or buy a bag and "shuck em" yourself.
Also, July, August, and early September is scallop season for the whole family. If deep sea fishing is your thing, the marinas in Carrabelle are loaded with captains and their fishing boats just waiting to take you offshore or upriver fresh water fishing. In addition, there are boats for rent in the area if you want to try your hand at navigating your own boat.
Apalachicola also has many captains and they also offer a scenic river cruise with dinner available. Bicycles, kayaks & canoes, motorcycles, boats, jet skis, and sailboats are all available to you. So are many eco tours by area natives. The estuary lab in Apalachicola is a great place for the entire family. Visit there and see sealife & wildlife native to this area. If you prefer exploring, take a boat trip over to Dog Island or St. Vincent Island. There is more info on St. Vincent Island at the St. Vincent wildlife center in Apalach. There are also trails through our state & national forests in the area.
Also available at certain times during the year are tours of some of the beautiful historic homes in Apalach, St. George Island Chili Cook-off, Apalachicola Seafood Festival, Carrabelle Riverfront Festival, Big Bend Salt Water Classic and other fishing tournaments, and, of course, the famous Dixie Theater in Apalachicola offering the latest movies, plays, and various entertainment throughout the year. |
