Unit 506 is a fifth floor, luxuriously appointed one bedroom condominium at the Kihei (Key-Hay) Surfside Resort, Maui, has a 180 degree absolute direct oceanfront view and the islands of Lanai, Kaho'olawe and Molokini are clearly visible nearby.
The unit has a full gourmet kitchen with island, wall mounted LCD flat screen TV's in both the living room and bedroom, stereo with CD player and Ipod dock, free unlimited local and long distance telephone calling to USA and Canada, free hi-speed internet, fully equipped desk area for your laptop and a private lanai. The living room has a queen size sofa bed. It was completely renovated and refurnished in June 2006, with porcelain flooring, granite countertops and stainless steel, professional series appliances. A dishwasher was added to this unit during the renovation. Many of the 1 bed 1 bath units at the Surfside still do not have a dishwasher. The bedroom has a king bed with TV and telephone. It is fully equipped with matching utensils, fresh linen and towels, iron/ironing board and hairdryer. Beach gear includes deluxe chairs, mats, egyptian cotton beach towels, cooler, boogie boards, snorkel gear and an umbrella. The unit is equipped with multi-speed ceiling fans in both the living room and bedroom. Laundry facilities are available on site.
We also own units 206 and 507 (right next door), and our family owns unit 504.
This is the desert part of Maui, where the sun shines more than any other part of the island.
Kihei Surfside Resort is located at 2936 S. Kihei Road, South Kihei at the entrance of beautiful Wailea. Unlike many of the Kihei buildings, the Surfside building is set back from the road by approximately 500 feet, virtually eliminating any road noise. The resort consists of an absolute oceanfront concrete building of 6 floors and 84 deluxe units with an elevator. The property itself features an extensive and immaculately kept lawn area with dozens of loungers, a heated swimming pool and deluxe barbeque facilities. In season, there are daily whale sightings from both the grounds and lanais. So many, in fact, the Pacific Whale Foundation conducts their annual whale count from the grounds at the Surfside! There are also many turtles just off the shore and spectacular snorkelling right there! The building is located at the north end of Keawakapu beach, one of the most beautiful beaches on Maui, where you can walk or run for miles past some of the most expensive oceanfront homes on the island and the luxurious hotels of Wailea. There are two very nice oceanfront restaurants within 100 yards of the resort; The Five Palms and Sorrentos at the Beach. The Grand Wailea Hotel and its many high end restaurants, The Shops at Wailea and the world class Wailea/Makena Golf Courses and Tennis Clubs are close by and Kahalui airport is just twenty-five minutes away.
It is customary for the residents of the Kihei Surfside to gather each evening for cocktails on the shore near the tiki torches for a traditional Hawaiian sundown ceremony. This is a great opportunity to meet your neighbors and fellow vacationers!
Rental cars are available at the airport or in Kihei town. There is free parking on site. Just a few minutes from the airport are Costco, Wal-Mart and Sears. A short drive from the resort is Safeway, Foodland and Star Market, where you can stock up on groceries. Right across the parking lot from the Surfside is an upscale deli/grocery store for last minute items, and a yoga studio.
Windsurfing, and many other water activities are also available nearby. The Kihei boat ramp, from where the pleasure boats and sightseeing/snorkeling tours depart, is a five minute walk.

"Dear Larry and Sharon; Mahalo Nui Loa! for the perfect retirement gift. When Wendy and I arrived in 506, we were taken aback by the beauty that we saw surrounding us. The condo is so inviting! We love the interior design, the lighting and all the touches of quality. Then, stepping out onto the lanai, we gasped at the view of paradise and were/are awestruck at the beauty of God's creation here. We loved snorkeling with the turtles and innumerable fishes. We learned, tghrough a couple of instances, to respect the ocean as it caught us off guard a couple of times. Our favorite "eat out" was "The Outlook". Our favorite "take out" was "Da Kitchen" in the Rainbow Mall just down the street...those teriyaki burgers are great! Teriyaki burgers by candlelight on the lanai of 506... can't get better than that!

What a spot! We almost stopped beach hopping when we found out that Keawakapu was steps away.We spent four fun filled days here that flew by and we truly enjoyed returning to our "home away from home" each evening. Beach Towels & chairs, an ipod docking station, and a salad spinner - little touches that only added to this absolute piece of paradise. We hope to be back!"

"Three years ago we started a savings account and ca1led it "The Hawaii Fund". Eventually, though we did manage to put away some money, we simply decided to use our tax refund $ and use it on a grand trip to Hawaii! What a fun, lovely trip it has been. Waking up each morning to the sounds of the Pacificand the views of the palm trees can cure whatever might ail the soul. Larry and Sharon, thanks for your generous hospitality; I don't even know you but feel much more than a "customer". There is nothing stingy about the provisions in #506; towels, cookware, spices, linens and comfort. I've already looked at the calendar to see when we can begin thinking about returning. Mahalo!!
