Our family of five enjoyed Amy & Richard's home immensely. It was a wonderful place to stay during our visit to the Dominical area. The kitchen was well stocked with all the tools & spices we needed to prepare delicious meals. We enjoyed the house so much we only ate out twice while in the area. The pool and outdoor spaces are very special and beyond compare. The pool is very large and our whole family enjoyed splashing and swimming together. Our evenings were spent enjoying the gorgeous sunsets and playing games on the back veranda. Amy is a wealth of information and should be writing guidebooks for the area! Thanks for making our stay in Dominical a very special and memorable one!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Villa Baha is a beautiful home away from home! It has all of the modern conveniences (W/D, dishwasher, full kitchen, etc.) yet it still has that Costa Rican feel to the architecture in both the main house and in the casita. The property is meticulously maintained and absolutely gorgeous! Sitting in the pool with an ocean view and checking out the toucans and other birds... Beautiful. The road up to the house is a bit rough and were glad to have 4wd, especially after the rains, but that only added to the charm. I would absolutely recommend Villa Baha to anyone who may be staying in the area!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Another couple, my husband and I spent a week a wonderful week at this gorgeous villa. I like the Mexican touch along with a (Far) Eastern motif. We have rented many villas in Costa Rica. This one is at the top of our list. Everything about it is perfect. The house is gorgeous architecturally. The pool is lovely and large enough to swim in. And the views!! Muy bonitas! The kitchen is so well-stocked. Dishes galore which I LOVE! We ate breakfast and lunch outdoors then went "upscale" in the dining room for our one home-cooked dinner. And the linens and towels--WOW, what a selection! We had pool towels, beach towels, and bathroom towels. The owners are extremely helpful and very pleasant to "chat" with, via e-mail. Amy provided a ton of information before we left. Once you arrive at the house, there is additional info. The books that identify the local bird life and plants were thumbed through frequently by our friends. I would provide only this warning: Do not attempt the "sendero" unless you are wearing sturdy shoes and have a walking stick. The trail is quite steep and, in the dry season, very difficult to maneuver as you cannot easily find foot holds. Of course, our friends (who are in good shape) made it without a problem. I won't elaborate on MY experience!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway.

We loved our Costa Rican home, it truly is paradise. This was a family vacation of 8 people from all over the USA gathering together to explore a new country and just 'chill out' as a family. The layout of this house really allows everyone to have privacy and then to gather together. The pool overlooks the mountains and the Pacific Ocean and was something we were all drawn to throughout the day. This place is even more spectacular than the pictures. We had great times going to all the surrounding places and exploring but the best time was coming back home and hanging out watching the toucans, many different types of birds, hummingbirds and frogs and the incredible views. We all left each other at the airport really feeling like this was the perfect family vacation and staying at Villa Baha was a big part of this.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Just back from a fabulous week in CR, many visits before but this was the first with our tribe of 20-something kids. Having seen Amy's pics, we knew Villa Baha would be great but our expectations were exceeded in every way. Beautiful gardens and decor, gourmet kitchen, immaculate facilities, comfy bedrooms and casita, wifi, terrific selection of books. Every detail has been considered, truly a home away from home. Amy also arranged groceries for our arrival, made for a very relaxing and fully-stocked first evening. Spectacular location and vantage point, our favorite mix of mountains, jungle and the ocean in the distance, close to Dominical and points south on the Costanera Sur. Zip-lining at Hacienda Baru, swimming at Playa Ventanas and lunch or dinner at Exotica. Bravo Amy, what an oasis you have created...we can't wait to return!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We are so happy to hear that your family had a great vacation at Villa Baha. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

Thank you Amy and Villa Baha! Our recent holiday was fantastic! Start your days with singing birds, frolicking monkeys and colorful butterflies and end them with stunning pink skies. Our group of 10 had the most amazing time, delicious meals and wonderful adventures. Ages ranged from 50-2 and everybody was beyond happy! Amy provided great suggestions for tours and activities, as well as helpful directions to and from the house. The house is beautiful, comfortable and has everything you need to relax, make gourmet meals, play games, read, swim, hike, learn about Costa Rica, use the internet etc... It's a magical place! Thanks for sharing, and making it feel effortless.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My family (husband, mother-in-law, 3 children under the age of 11) and I recently stayed at Villa Baha for four nights during our spring break. This house is truly amazing! The location is wonderful, the house is immaculate and the grounds are unbelievable. It is very well-maintained and provided everything we needed for a wonderful vacation. The boys loved swimming in the pool every afternoon and we enjoyed cooking in the kitchen. We could eat in the outside dining room and watch the wildlife and the changing views during sunsets. This was the most beautiful house we have ever rented. I would recommend this house to everyone. An added bonus when you rent this house is the incredible knowledge that the owner (Amy) brings to your vacation. She gives incredible tips and really makes your stay hassle free. She is better than any travel agent!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for staying at Villa Baha. Pura Vida!

I don't know where to start. We six friends met up in Costa Rica for the winter holiday and made our way down to Villa Baha. Our time at Villa Baha was without a doubt our favorite part of the trip. The photos online only give a small snapshot of the beauty and thought that went into the evolution of this property. We rent houses from VRBO every year, and this is by far our favorite. It is gorgeously decorated, beautifully landscaped, and just remote enough to feel "away from it all." From the moment you approach the property, you can feel the time and emotion that went into making this such a special place. The owner Amy went out of her way to help navigate our anticipation leading up to our stay. We thank you for your help and information. The property manager Cynthia is quite simply a lovely person. She was helpful, thoughtful, knowledgeable and truly interesting. We had THREE flat tires on our trip and she went out of her way to help us time and time again. Thank you Cynthia. We'll never forget you! Dinners cooked with fresh herbs and fruits from the garden, watching the sun set over the Pacific from the pool or hammock, combing nearby beaches, hiking to waterfalls, deep sea fishing, snorkeling…just some of the many things we enjoyed during our stay. If you are even considering Villa Baha for your vacation, look no further.Pura Vida!-Jason, Lori, Jen, Tad, Heather and JenDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 6/6

We LOVE Villa Baha! You never know what to expect when booking lodging online - and although we had a good idea that it would be LOVELY - any expectations that we could have had were surpassed. It is BEAUTIFUL, clean, well-appointed, festive! and has everything you could possibly need or even think to have. We were traveling with our 4 month old baby and another couple and their 3 month old baby and the layout was perfect for our "particular" situation. We had our zone downstairs and they had theirs upstairs- and so the babies slept quietly in our rooms which are in the same house, but it feels like you are separate - in a GOOD way. Even the outdoor areas can be communal or separate. We were really impressed with the detail and thought that they have put into the Villa. Amy was HUGELY helpful and very attentive... Cynthia and the staff were great. It felt like we were alone, but we knew there was a support circuit behind the scenes... just GREAT! Highly recommended. Thanks again Amy!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 10/10

Our family gives Villa Baha 4 THUMBS UP!!!! I felt like I was living in three places at once: in the jungle, at the ocean, and on top of the world from the constant of an elegant home base. Hard to choose "best parts" but I'd choose: 1. Floating in the swimming pool and gazing past the forested mountains to the ocean's shoreline in the distance. 2. Falling asleep listening to the sounds of nature...esp. the rain, cicadas, and frogs 3. Waking up to the fresh morning air, sounds of the birds and the sheer magic of being able to do it all again. If it seems too good to be true, I know. It "seemed" that way even while we were there. Our memories have the quality of dreams. Thanks Amy, Cynthia, the housekeeper, and to the gardener, too, who keeps the grounds immaculate!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 12/13

3/15/08 Our family had an absolutely wonderful time for our week at Villa Baha. We have rented homes throughout the Caribbean and Hawaii and this is by far the nicest and best equiped home we have ever rented. The photos on the web site are great and when you get to the house you will be even more impressed! It's a spectactular place and Dominical is a charming and delightful town. You cannot go wrong with this rental and if you want a "dream" Costa Rican trip go to Villa Baha! The Nanfelt's- Scott, Grit Kai & SvenjaDid you find this review helpful? Amy Thank you so much for your hospitality!!! We could not have had a better time. Your attention to details at the time of booking saved us so much time. The view off the back patio of the Ocean is to die for and makes doing the dishes a very pleasurable experience! The lay out of this home was so accomidating for each of us to get our own little piece of privacy. Our very very very favorite thing was the time we spent uninterupted as a family we have memories that we will cherish forever. What a way to get to reconnect with our children. I will say that the no phone at first was alittle unnerving with the remote location you have. It turned out to be my favorite thing no one could get us and we were much better for it. We are so used to talking on cell phones and everyone having constant contact with us that you forget that a family vacation is really not a family vacation if Mom is on the phone and Dad is on the computer. It just means you are conducting business from another location. Thank you for the lesson in what a true vacation is truly for. I was so pleased with the way the house was stocked with coolers/beach towels/floaties/ anything you would need to go to the beach. The drive down took about 15 minutes to the most remote beach with no other people and the best waves. We are not surfers but if we were this would have been heaven on earth. Cynthia was so very very helpful her knowledge of the area was tremendous and she was there to help if we needed it and out of sight if we didn't. I know she will be such an asset for you we just LOVED HER. God Bless you and yours!!!! KathyRecommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

We had an amazing 2 week stay at Villa Baha. The wildlife was so diverse, and the weather was great too! (Expect showers almost every afternoon). Some of the activities we enjoyed most were: playing at the Playa Belina, Horseback riding to Nuayaca Falls, Zip Line Adventure at Hacienda Baru, and eating GREAT FOOD at the resurants in Dominical. If you're looking for an authentic Costa Rican trip to remember, stay at Villa Baha!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 11/11

My wife and I stayed here for 10 days for our honeymoon and it was perfect! In fact, we had planned to stay a few days at a resort, but after talking to other gringos we quickly realized how great we had it at Villa Baha and stayed the entire time (even though we lost our deposit on the resort). The house and gardens are beyond beautiful; the pool is perfect and overlooks the ocean. TOUCANS and White Faced MONKEYS and other animals visit the property; there are tons of hummingbirds and butterflies in the fragrent flowers. Great location, quick drive to Dominical and several beaches. Perfect blend of remoteness and convenience. There is a great nature reserve just down the hill (which is where the monkeys must come from). Can't say enough about how great it is. Wonderful view. Very private. Hope to go back soon after we have kids. Definitely family friendly. There are TVs, ping-pong table, a grill, etc. Don't think twice, book it!Did you find this review helpful? My wife and I spent a spectacular week at Villa Baha. Villa Baha is a gorgeous house with beautiful grounds and views. We like a mix of adventure, activity and relaxation in our vacations and the Dominical area was an ideal location. We started everyday the same way. We’d spend an hour or so lounging on the patio eating breakfast and drinking coffee, watching the birds and other wildlife. Then, we’d either head out for our adventure or just spend the day at Villa Baha. During the week, we snorkeled at Cano Island, toured the Mangrove swamps, did the zip lines at Hacienda Baru, went horseback riding to Nauyaca Falls and went to the reptile zoo. The days we stayed at Villa Baha, we swam in the pool, played ping pong, snoozed in the hammocks, read on the patio and occasionally got to watch the neighborhood coati as it strolled through the yard. After most vacations, we’re usually ready to go home but not this time…it was really hard to leave!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 24/26

Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at Villa Baha. We felt at home instantly. My husband and I loved the master suite and our children enjoyed the ping pong table and the TVs. Best of all was the swimming pool and the outdoor dining area. We could have stayed forever. Dominical itself was a lot of fun and we enjoyed several beaches and tours. We highly recommend Villa Baha and hope that we can return one day.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 13/13

Villa Baha is a nice house built for personal use and not for the rental market. Beautifully decorated and well equipped. Set in secluded surroundings with a great view of the Pacific coast and ocean. We all enjoyed our stay including the kids (good selection of beaches with and without waves). Strongly recommend going to Dominical and staying at villa Baha, for those interested in a quiet vacation off the over-beaten track.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 13/13
