If repeat guests are the true measure of a successful vacation rental property, Lanikai Cottage has hit the mark! Staying in a private, detached dwelling enhances the Lanikai experience, especially when compared to attached studios and rooms within a private home. In fact it is one of the few licensed vacation rentals in Lanikai, of which there are only 15, and is the only one which is a completely separate structure from the owner's residence. License # 90/TVU-0325 / Tax Registration ID #W40713010-01.
Located in the world famous beach community of Lanikai, in the town of Kailua, on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, there are two highly rated beaches within minutes. Lanikai Beach is a five minute walk from the cottage. Kailua Beach Park is a three minute drive away. Over the years, Kailua and Lanikai beaches have been given numerous accolades. Lanikai's include best sunrise in Hawaii and most scenic beach in America. The Mokulua Islands off shore from Lanikai have been included in numerous advertisements and movies. You can kayak out to them and explore the island on the left. You can also hike up the ridgeline behind Lanikai for scenic vistas in all directions. Kailua Beach has been chosen as the best sports beach in America numerous times. In fact, the town of Kailua was chosen as one of the top five spots in America for a permanent vacation! Between these natural attractions and the comfort of the Cottage, the majority of our guests return or refer others.
The cottage was completely remodeled in 2004. It is a Hawaiian-style, beach house with a lanai (deck) on the back for outdoor meals and barbecuing. The glass doors that separate the living room from the lanai slide back into a pocket creating an 8' wide opening. The one bedroom, one bathroom interior also has a living area with a kitchenette. The kitchenette is separated from the rest of the room by a bar-top dining area with bar stools. The hardwood floor is covered with an area carpet. The wall mounted 18,000 BTU Air Conditioner cools the entire cottage for night time sleep comfort. The bathroom has a glass shower enclosure, toilet, sink, small closet, and shelves. There is a reserved parking spot in the yard. The cottage has its own washer and dryer for your exclusive use. Families with Children are welcome. We also have a crib and high chair available if needed.

No complaints here! Well-appointed and well-stocked (condiments, bug spray, toiletries, even kayaks!); a 3-minute walk to Lanikai beach and a short drive to Kailua beach, my favorite on Oahu. Excellent for folks who dislike the crowds on Waikiki but would prefer to stay somewhere less remote than the North Shore. Perfect for 2 people or a couple with 1-2 small children, but a rather tight squeeze for 4 adults. Allison is very pleasant and helpful, and since the cottage is on her property she's available to answer questions or give assistance. My husband and I give Lanikai Cottage two big thumbs up.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

This cottage was perfect for our family of 4 which includes 2 children under 10. It was centrally located to all activities we had planned for our visit yet not in all the craziness of big city Honolulu. The place itself was very relaxing, comfortable and clean. The kids loved the hammock and all the provided beach toys. The washer and dryer made Mom happy she didn't have to lug all the dirty clothes home. We enjoyed wonderful simple meals and coffee in the morning on the lanai. The owners were very friendly and helpful yet gave us our privacy. Awesome place. We will definitely stay again if our travels bring us to Oahu in the future.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

This was a very good place to stay. We didn't want to be in Honolulu and Lanikai gave us the opportunity to be close enough to visit the city, but provided the quiet and slower pace of the smaller town of Kailua.. The cottage allowed privacy in coming and going and was the perfect size. It would be OK for 4 people, but the only bathrom is an en suite off of the bedroom, so that would take some planning. The owners live on-site and were great at communicating leading up to our visit and responded happily and promptly to the one minor glitch we encountered. The cottage is just a 5:00 walk from a public access to the ocean. We found that the access areas closest to the cabin didn't provide much beach area, but the main/awesome beach was only about a 15:00 walk. The highlights of our visit were the great beach, hiking up the Pill Box Trail, driving up to the North Shore to sample the shrimp wagons, and visiting the excellent restaurants in Kailua. Don't miss: Cinnamon's, Crepes No Ka 'Oi, and Teddy's Bigger Burgers. Keneke's Plate Lunch in Waimanalo is worth the short drive and you can carry on to some great whale watching on the South end of the island.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Even know I was on the island to work on this particular visit to Hawaii. The Lanikai Cottage gave me a wonderful escape during the evening time. I had a wonderful time just relaxing and enjoying the beautiful landscape. My only downside to my stay at the cottage is that my trip was short. I could have used a couple of more days to really appreciate the experience. Look forward to returing soon! BeauRecommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

We had a great time staying at Lanikai Cottage - we were traveling with our infant daughter and although the cottage is open-plan it worked out well for us. The beaches are fantastic, being able to drive into Kailua in 15 minutes to shop (and then cook at the cottage) was also a bonus. And the deck, grill, hammock (and laundry!) are all great facilities for travelers. The hostess was very friendly and also helpful with our baby-related requests. Would definitely recommend, and would stay there again ourselves.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, sightseeing.

What a wonderful place to spend a few (and never long enough) days by the sea in Kailua, HI! There were beautiful breezes, a wonderful and large lanai, and complimentary beach equipment such as chairs, umbrella, towels, boogie boards, etc. The owners were friendly but not intrusive. The A/C cooled the cottage nightly and ceiling fans were a great addition. Our family enjoyed having a relaxing "base" to coordinate day trips around the island and we used the provided maps and tour guides. Mahalo for a relaxing vacation!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

My mom, brother and I spent 10 days in the Lanikai Cottage. And it was like renting our on home in Oahu, we had a lot of privacy, a lot of space and a lot of fun. Allison and her family were very helpful and they help us with a very nice family reunion. Providing information and the unforgettable kayak that me and my brother borrow from them. My mom was specially happy whit how clean the cottage was, extra towels, beach towels and laundry place. But specially the beach that is so close to the house, it was really a paradise, and during the week it was like a private beach. Thanks Allison and your family for having us, and we will make sure to comeback!. Best, Mauricio.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

This cottage was great for getting away from the hustle and bustle of the big city of Honolulu. The cottage was clean and comfortable. The little kitchenette and outside was enough to make dinners for ourselves, which definitely helped us save some money. I was a little disappointed, however, to find that the cottage wasn't all that quiet. The road is just over a privacy wall, but since the cottage is lifted off the ground, you can see people walking or driving by from the bathroom window. You can also hear road noise from the front bedroom, but I didn't find that it was loud enough to keep me from sleeping - it just wasn't the silence I was hoping for. I found Allison to be very nice during communication prior to our stay, so I was a bit surprised when she didn't even introduce herself while we stayed at the cottage. Overall, the cottage was good for that trip, but I probably won't go back.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

The cottage was so suitable for our honeymoon. Quiet, secluded & so close the beach. The cottage was clean & comfortable with lots of privacy. Lanikai was close enough that we could easily drive to the main sights of Oahu, but far away from the busy city life of Honolulu. The slight drawback was that the wifi was a bit weak. The local information from the Allison was great as well. We would definitely recommend the cottage.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

We stayed for a short time in the Lanikai Cottage, but it was a great stay. It provided everything we needed. Even though we did not have a chance to meet the hosts because of our busy days, they seemed to be easily available. When making the reservation, Allison was quick to respond (she was even on vacation) and easy to work with. The cottage was private and had a/c which was perfect. The set-up was nice, just wish there was a shade in the small window in the bathroom. Lanikai was a great place to stay, quiet and not busy like Waikiki. And the beach is amazing. Mahalo! We'll be back again sometime soon hopefully! Boston, MARecommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

About the owner: Aloha, We have lived in Kailua for over 24 years and in Lanikai for the past 18 years. We have hosted guests from all over the world in Lanikai Cottage, and especially enjoy our repeat guests. Mike and Allison Green
Why the Owner Chose Kailua:
Lanikai is an amazing community! It's a peaceful, low-key neighborhood with so much to offer. Of course there are all the ocean sports and the beauty of the Mokulua Islands off-shore. There is hiking up the Lanikai ridge to see the WWII pillboxes plus the awesome 360 degree view of the Windward side of Oahu. There is always just walking or biking around the Lanikai loop.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Lanikai Cottage is on the quiet southern end of Lanikai loop. It is a short walk to gorgeous Lanikai Beach. You can also enjoy hiking the Lanikai ridge to the WWII pillboxes, walking around Lanikai loop, or just relaxing in the hammock for a mid-day snooze or some evening star-gazing!
