This beautifully appointed, comfortable, relaxing five bedroom, four and a half bathroom, luxury oceanside beach house, is in the quiet & peaceful, gated community of Ocean Ridge. The house is approximately 3200 square feet, only 250 feet (about 3 lots) away from the ocean and a clean, wide, large, uncrowded, private community beach with lifeguard, an easy 3 minute walk. To the east is the Atlantic Ocean and beach, while to the west are wonderful views of the southern part of the Indian River Bay, and salt marshes with many birds and unspoiled vistas, visible from the 3rd floor deck. Even in the "Off season", we have perfect spring days made for long walks on virtually secluded beaches. After winter high tides, beach combing for seashells is ideal this time of year.
Occasionally dolphins can be seen swimming offshore. The ocean's healing and calming power is unexplainable. It's easy to relax and forget all your cares sitting on the sand, breathing in the salt air, being warmed by the sun.
The community has a electronically gated entry / security guard, and access to community pool and tennis courts in Ocean Ridge West, located across the road.
The house is the perfect place for large family reunions, or to celebrate the holidays.
It sleeps ten comfortably, and is furnished in a contemporary and casual style, with beautiful oak hardwood floors throughout the entire third floor great room and Master Bedroom, and new carpeting elsewhere. Ceiling fans, Cable TV, and DVD players are in each bedroom & living room, while a NEW 52" LCD HDTV, DVD, VCR, and stereo are available in the expansive and comfortably appointed living room (with new sectional, April 2008) which also has a wood-burning fireplace for cooler off season days. The third floor master bedroom has a full tile shower and jacuzzi tub. Each bedroom has sliding glass doors that open onto private balconies, and bedrooms on the front of the house open onto the wide wrap-around decks. Please note: Linens/towels not provided. *FREE*, secure WI-FI high speed internet is available. Bring your laptop computer! Cordless phones in each room. Ipod dockable clock radios in each bedroom.
There are very large wrap-around decks on the second and third floors. A large screened porch, containing a ceiling fan and wood furniture, is on the third floor, & has fantastic views of both the Atlantic ocean and bay. A large, stainless steel gas grill is found on the 3rd floor deck, to help you create gourmet barbecue family dinners. Central Air Conditioning cools the house efficiently on hot days.
There is a large concrete shuffleboard in the backyard of the house, with equipment provided. Under the house are two private outdoor showers, and parking for 2-3 vehicles. The driveway can hold an additional 5 vehicles. The surrounding garden has been beautifully landscaped with native plants and trees, and contains a secluded niche with a hammock for whiling away a summer day with a good book and refreshing drink.
The house is located only 5 minutes from Bethany Beach, which has a nice beach, quaint stores, souvenir shops, a few restaurants, a boardwalk, and bandstand.
15-20 minutes north is Rehoboth, which has a nice downtown/main street with many fine restaurants, clubs; large tax free shopping outlets; a great boardwalk with games and amusements for the kids; and its own nice but more crowded beach. Also, Rehoboth has cultural offerings such as many art galleries, The Rehoboth Summer Children's Theatre, The Henlopen Theatre Project, a multi-plex cinema (Midway) which offers the "Arthouse Theatre" showing independent films, and the Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival (November).
Lewes, the first town in the first state of Delaware, is only 20 minutes away, and has many fine restaurants such as The Buttery, and Blue Plate Diner, & many wonderful antique, art galleries, and other shops. There is also a historic section dating back to the 1600s, with sites such as the Maull House, built in the 1700s and open to the public; a marina offering charter fishing trips and boat ramps; and the Marsh Island Golf Club. Also in Lewes is the beautiful Cape Henlopen State Park.
Local watersports include charter boat fishing, wind surfing, swimming, crabbing, clamming, boating, kayaking, jet skiing, sailing, sport fishing, diving, beachcombing, surfing, shelling. Several beautiful state parks and beaches are within 10 minutes drive, such as Indian River Inlet, 3R's, and Delaware Seashort State Park.

About 10 minutes south is Fenwick Island, which has the Fenwick Island State Park. 20-30 min. away is Ocean City with its huge boardwalk, amusement park with many rides, good restaurants and night clubs, antique stores, golf courses, attractions such as miniature golf and more. Your family can have a day of wild fun in Rehoboth or Ocean City and then return to your serene, private oasis at the beach.
If golfing is your favorite sport, you can visit one of the nearby golf courses, such as Bear Trap Dunes (in Ocean View), Salt Pond (Bethany), Cripple Creek Golf & Country Club (Dagsboro), Kings Creek Country Club (Rehoboth Bch), Old Landing Golf Course (Rehoboth), Rehoboth Beach Country Club (Rehoboth), The Rookery (Milton), Sussex Pines Country Club (Georgetown).
