A charming garden cottage located along the West Neck Creek area of the Montclair Colony, this four bedroom, two bath house offers solitude and lovely waterviews. Built circa 1928, the shingled Cape Cod evokes a character and style that provides a relaxing atmosphere with up-to-date conveniences. The home is located on a quiet street, on a large lot and offers privacy.

The waterview screened front porch accommodates quiet dining under a fan. The first floor has a living room with a fireplace, adjacent to the abundant dining area that will comfortably seat 8, and an ample kitchen with a small café table for breakfast. The recently-renovated kitchen offers a Sub Zero refrigerator, Bosch appliances, gas stove and electric oven. The master bedroom and study or bedroom, and slate-tiled bathroom complete the ground floor.

Upstairs, there is a brand-new full bath with a deep soaking tub, and two ample, secluded bedrooms. Plenty of closet space in each bedroom, upstairs and down. The garage houses 3 bicycles, 2 kayaks, beach and lawn chairs, a croquet set, grilling and gardening supplies. In the summer, flowers and a small vegetable garden are in full bloom.

  • This place was one of the best vacation homes we've ever rented. The house was everything that you would expect and MORE from such a lovely place as Shelter Island. My fiance and I were able to melt away all of our stress, and come back more refreshed then we would have ever expected! The house and the neighborhood was just beautiful during this time of year (November)! We'll DEFIANTLY come back again. Maybe for the summer this time.

  • We rented this house for June and July 2007 and had wonderful time. The neighborhood was perfect for kids with little traffic (we had a 6 year old and a 6 month old). The kitchen was fully equipped and the bathrooms were modern and functional. There were plenty of places to hang out (large lawn, patio area, screen porch, etc). A beautiful house in a wonderful setting.

  • We had a great stay at this house. It's very comfortable, tastefully decorated and kept in excellent shape. The only issues were if it had been hot the lack of AC may have been an issue (though we lucked out with perfect weather), and the beds were a bit firm. But otherwise it was ideal, and the owner Diane was great to deal with. I would go back in a heartbeat and recommend it highly to friends.

  • My wife and I satyed at this house in Mar/Apr of 2007. The house is very nice and clean, has lot's of space, working fireplace, and all the necesary amenities. We enjoyed our stay there, would go back there again, and recommend it to others.
