Owner's Profile

Why the Owner Chose Hayesville

I didn't buy the cabin, it was built with love and alot of work in 2000. I have lived here all my life and the mountains to me are the most beautiful and peaceful place on the earth. I love to visit other places but am always ready to come back home.

The Unique Benefits of this Cabin

I live here in Hayesville and am blessed to see the beauty every day. All the changes that take place in nature with the seasons. Swim in the creeks, fish the streams, enjoy the Lake Chatuge. I could go on and on but you will just have to come and see the area if you have never visited.

    • My husband and I stayed here for 4 days over New Year's Eve 2006/2007--we totally felt at home. My folks have a getaway cabin a mile from THIS cabin, so the four of us were thrilled that we could find our own rental cabin so close to theirs in such a non-commercialized area of the NC mtns. Kay is a sweetheart and the cabin is fantastic. We had a ball and would highly recommend this to anyone. We'll be back again and again.

    • We stayed in the cabin with our two Dogs the week of July 4, 2003... Yes, I am writing this LONG after our stay. I am just starting to plan a trip this summer and we will hopefully be returning to the cabin again. Very nice location, there was lots of walking behind the cabin. We loved the screened in front porch and swing. My only complaint the entire trip was that the remnants of a hurricane passed thru while we were there and it rained almost the entire week! I liked the town of Hayesville also there was a great little restaurant 2 minutes from the cabin with terrific desserts. The cabin has anything you could want and everything is well stocked. Pots Pans, gas grill and even laundry detergent so I didn't have too pack too many clothes.

    • What a wonderful two weeks!!! The cabin was like our home; my favorite place was the huge screened porch! The wind rustling through the trees; the water sounds from the koi pond drifting through the windows--it was heaven. Kay Tanner is a wonderful hostess! I'll be back!

    • Upon walking in the door you can feel the love put into the decorating in the cabin!! Thank you very much for making us feel at home. You have definately created a home away from home feeling and have equipped the cabin with so much. We hope to see you again soon!! P.S. The leaves were so beautiful... Lori & Dave

    • I was a little leary when I searched for a vacation spot in North Carolina on the Internet, but this turned out to be a God sent adventure. The cabin, the quiet, the smell of leaves and crisp air, the sound of the pond, cannot be described in words, only felt and remembered in the heart. I pray I'll be able to do this every year. Thank you to such a lovely host!

    • If you are not looking for a place to bask within nature and to be completely lost from the stresses of life and find relaxation, then Mountain Laurel Hideaway is not for you. If you want to be encompassed within beauty, total serenity and peace with sweet content while being kissed by nature, then this is your hideaway; you won't be disappointed. What you will find here is a cabin encompassed within the mountains surrounded by trees and native shrubs with a well-landscaped lawn and hammock inviting you to take a deep breath of fresh air: close your eyes -- relax as the fountain's spraying water tranquilizes and ignites within an appreciation and gratitude; giving you a mind at peace. I will be back.
