Thank you so much for our 4 night stay at your beautiful 1 bedroom apt. We have stayed at several vrbo and this is by far #1 (The Best). The apt was so comfortable, clean , and decorated so nicely. We felt at home and couldn't want for anything. From the kitchen you can prepare food and look out at the ocean or sit on the sofa and have the same beautiful view. We enjoyed eating dinner on the patio with the same view while being sheltered by the wind .We relaxed and enjoyed watching movies from your huge video selection. We had a great anniversary along with 2 warm sunny days.

Fantastic for Our 50th Wedding Anniversary

Thank you Walt & Vicki for providing a fantastic get-a-way for our 50th Wedding Anniversary. View was super out front windows. Observed 3 whales spouting, enjoyed ocean waves crashing over rocks, and a bonus watching Coast Guard boats performing maneuvers. Your by the Bay/Ocean Cottage was fully equipped and stocked like a home, even down to condiments. A computer was provided and with the WIFI, we were able to also use our Laptop. There is a rack with 100 DVD's ( many fairly new releases) as well as another one for 100 Music CD's. For the younger generation, or those with the time, there is a Wii controller plus numerous programs to keep one entertained. The inside house plants are beautiful and the unique decor displays a Coastal Theme. The outside patio swing was Vicki's favorite place for enjoying the view with her morning coffee. Glad we brought a guitar, keyboard and amplifiers, as we enjoyed playing our music by the cozy gas fireplace and looking out at the ocean. This was the first time back to Depoe Bay since our Honeymoon 50 years ago. Boy have things changed since then. We plan to make this an annual event. The wife and I just recently spent a pre-Valentines Day weekend in this excellent one bedroom with a wonderful view. All of the excellent reviews were a hint that we would enjoy our stay but needless to say it was better than we hoped for. We were Extremely happy with the home away from home atmosphere. We will definitely return later this year providing a vacancy is available.

Home Away From Home

My husband and I love Depoe Bay! We have stayed there many times, always in a hotel. In doing some research, I came across Walt and Vicki's vacation rental. So happy I did! The apartment was very clean and well maintained. The bed was very comfy! Had all the electronics you could think of. Fully stocked kitchen, which we did use. Washer and dryer appreciated!! Walt was friendly and helpful. It felt like home. We will very definately be staying there again on our next trip to Depoe Bay!!!

What a great Place!

My husband and I were fortunate enough to be able to enjoy By the Bay for a week this summer. Everything was as promised and more. The location was wonderful for exploring the coast. And how many times can you sit with your coffee or eating your meals and watch the Pacific Ocean crash in front of you! While strolling thru shops a few blocks away, we were able to see 3 whales. The unit was very clean and provided everything you could want for your comfort and enjoyment...including entertainment. Walt and Vicki have truly created a home away from home feeling. They also were considerate enough to provide you with all the info you needed to take advantage of the the area, including restaurant menus and recommendations, points of interest, maps, etc. We saw and enjoyed speaking with Walt several times, and he always wanted to make sure our needs were met. The best I can say is both of us can't wait to go back! Vicki and Walt, thank you for creating such a comfortable and pleasant experience. We look forward to seeing you again!

May Vacation 2011

My husband and I spent the first week of May in Depoe Bay. This apartment was absolutely perfect for us. It was nicely decorated and very clean. Up until the last day, we had no reason to contact Walt or Vicki. The day before we were going to leave, I tried to print our boarding passes. Unfortunately, the printer was having problems. We called Walt and he came right over. He fixed the printer and chatted with us for a few minutes. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to anyone who wants to spend time on the coast. Thanks, Walt and Vicki, for sharing your home with us.

Anniversary Getaway!

My wife of 41 years and I spent a delightful anniversary getaway week here at the end of February, 2011. It's somewhat difficult to find this type of rental (for two w/one bedroom) on the Coast. Depoe Bay is a great location with easy access to beaches as well as Lincoln City and Newport on either side. Our concern regarding possible traffic noise was unfounded; it was quiet throughout. The rental is cozy, very nicely appointed, with all the electronics you could hope for -- including a Wii (which we didn't use). We did utilize the Wi-Fi for the laptops while there; they worked flawlessly. The photos on the web site are quite accurate and we loved the amenities of this hideaway. The Tidal Rave restaurant right across the street has a delightful ocean view, big windows, wonderful food and an unbeatable ocean view. Recommend eatery! We hope to be able to return for a "return engagement" in the future, perhaps the next anniversary would be a good excuse!

Yearly Anniversary Getaway

My husband and I routinely stay at the Oregon Coast for our anniversary, but this is the first time we varied and stayed somewhere new. We loved it. I never met Vicki, but Walt was very nice and helpful. We were left alone to enjoy ourselves, but when we needed help, Walt was there. I cannot wait to stay here again. Planning a family vacation in the future and this delightful place is definitely on my list (so is a memory foam mattress! It was wonderful to sleep on, very comfy). My husband and I took a vacation over thanksgiving and spent 7 nights at By the Bay. How relaxing! We loved it. The apartment is spacious, clean, comfortable and equipped with everything you could possibly need. Well equipped kitchen if you're ambitious and want to cook your meals (which we weren't and didn't) It was quite brisk weather wise but the gas fireplace was so cozy. The apartment is quiet and easy to relax in. (I know, you shouldn't end a sentence with a preposition but who cares) We found great places to eat. (Wang Wu's right next door has great steak! Who would have thought?) We enjoyed morning walks on the cliffs overlooking the ocean and also down to the "city" center. Shopped at Tanger Outlet stores 16 miles away in Lincoln City. Had a great Thanksgiving dinner at the Fathoms restaurant at Spanish Head in Lincoln City. Walt and Vickey are great landlords! We had a great time and can't wait to go back. Great vacation getaway.

Just returned home from our vacation. The condo we stayed in had everything you could think of to make it a home. There were several days of rain. We played games from the great selection provided, watched a few videos from a very large and varied video library, watched our local nesting peregrine falcons and their chicks from the computer, watched some incredible storms from the condo or on the enclosed patio, and just caught up on some much needed relaxation. It was very hard to leave. We had a six year old with us and she had a great time too. We all wanted to stay longer. Thanks so much Walt and Vicky for making us feel so welcome and having such a nice place to call home. We are looking forward to our next vacation.

Although it is not right on the beach, this place still has an ocean view, a very good one I might add. Just a very short walk south to the main shops of Depoe Bay. The open floor plan and large windows give the place a lot of room. The two large screen TV's and DVD (Toshiba HD) players give you something to do at night and if you get rained in. Plenty of in-house movies and music too. The fridge, dishwasher, washer and dryer, microwave... all the amenities you would need for a short or long stay. Can't even hear the traffic going by. Even a computer, which I'm typing this review on! It was a great place to take a long weekend for my birthday and our 6 month wedding anniversary. Thank you very much Walt and Vicki. Great personalized service and excellent value.

We arrived after a long drive from the Portland airport to this beautiful By The Bay condo. No regrets at all. It is clean, comfortable and cozy as can be. The owners thought of everything for our stay. Yes, even chocolates on our pillows. We still have two more days and love the coast and sites to see (whale watching today). AND love coming back to rest up here.

We stayed week of 7/06/2009. This place was clean with absolutly everything one would need to explore the ocean front of Oregon. Settled in the quiet town of Depoe Bay just 10 miles north and you have Lincoln City or 10 miles south and there is all the attractions of Newport Bay. Walt was a very gracious host available upon request never intrusive. The electronic, movies, music, games and book there is something for any taste. The room itself stayed cool we were able to watch whales pass by right out our window of the condo and patio. At this price one not only gets a bargin over other places in the area the room is very luxurious. We are looking forward to returning many times in the years to come.

Amazing Bang For The Buck

We were completely surprised when we arrived at this very clean, artfully appointed, completely furnished rental. We have vacationed in and around Depoe Bay for many years and this is the most amazing deal we have ever experienced. Aside from the great city center location and wonderful ocean view, we were impressed by the state of the art HDTVs, and PC system. We highly recommend this well cared for home away from home!

Upscale homelike accomodations, comfortable, within walking distance to resturants, shopping and coffee shops. Whale watching in the bay across the street a definite plus!
