We invite you to our cozy 3 bedroom cottage in Halfmoon Bay. You will forget all the stresses of city living as soon as you arrive. Surrounded by the forest and taking in the expansive views over Halfmoon Bay and beyond to Vancouver Island’s snow capped mountains, you will soon experience a sense of well being and contentment.

Situated on a small hill adjacent to the shore, it’s only steps to the beach and the historic Redrooffs Trail that will take you to the Halfmoon Bay General Store, the Upper Crust Gourmet Store and the government wharf.

Watch bald eagles, blue herons and osprey share the sky. Closer to shore, you’ll see seals, otters and a great variety of waterfowl. Sunsets are spectacular and provide many photo opportunities.

In the summertime there is a steady stream of boat traffic as beautiful yachts head up Welcome Passage on their way to the famous cruising grounds of Desolation Sound. In the evenings, Alaska bound cruise ships can be seen heading up the Strait of Georgia in the golden glow of the setting sun. There is always something to see and there are many recreational activities for visitors.

Kayak in Halfmoon Bay or head over to Buccaneer Bay on Thormanby Island where you can enjoy one of the finest sandy beaches in the Strait of Georgia. Play golf at one of our challenging courses or go hiking on the many trails. Drive up to Egmont (35minutes) and enjoy the easy 45 minute hike into the famous Skookumchuk Narrows where you can view one of the largest and fastest tidal rapids in the world running at over 14 knots! Take an easy hike up Pender Hill in Irvine’s Landing and enjoy spectacular views of Pender Harbour (sometimes called “Venice of the North”), the Strait of Georgia and Vancouver Island.

Go fishing. There is excellent fishing with guides available in Secret Cove and other locations. Closer to home, you can try your luck right off the Halfmoon Bay government dock. Rent a boat from Buccaneer Marina in Secret Cove and explore the coastline and islands.

Or, just enjoy the cottage and relax. Sit on the deck and read your favourite book. Watch one of our many movies or rent one at the historic Halfmoon Bay General Store. Soak in the hot tub after going for your walk. The opportunities for your enjoyment are endless.

Read some of the many comments from our guests and then check our online calendar for availability. We'd love to host you for your special vacation or weekend getaway.

As soon as we got out of the car and started walking down to the house, our daughters said "this is soooo awesome-can we buy this place?!!" This is a true gem of a house- well, really a house and an absolutely magnificent setting/garden/view-they all add up to make such a delightful place to stay. We were her for 3 nights in early April and although the weather was not always the best(but its the northwest so it comes wiht the territory), our stay in the house was terrific. The kitchen, newly remodeled and a delight to work in , is just a dream where you can make your dinner while gazing out the front window at gorgeous trees limbed up just so to allow spectacular views of the water, islands and mountains. The cottage interior is very cozy with one bedroom down and 2 up. The queen beds were wonderfully comfy with great pillows, mattresses and duvets-both moms slept wonderfully in the 2 rooms.. The girls were happy in the 3rd BR with bunk beds. While the bathroom has a great clawfoot tub, we preferred the outdoor shower where we could gaze out on the tree tops, while being rained on with cold rain and showered with cozy warm water. A large deck is attached and must be magnificent during the summer when it's warm enought to sit out and just enjoy nature at every turn. The hot tub adjacent to the house was very well utilized-such a treat, morning and evening. SO much care has been taken with the property-the landscaping is delightfully done with all sorts of little surprises throughout the property. The owners have done a magnificent job of opening up a wonderful view of the water while preserving an absolute sense of privacy throughout the property-you feel like you are in a little park! It is definitely a place that we would come back to-in fact, we looked as soon as we came home to see what summer bookings looked like, hoping we could get up again in the next months. You'll have a terrific stay at this house, while exploring the beauty fo the Sunshine Coast.

My sister and our boyfriends and I rented the place so we could take our mom somewhere special for her 65th birthday. We had an amazing, magical time. The view is so serene, the wood stove wonderfully ambient and warm, everything about the place was very cozy and comfortable. We found absolutely everything we needed in the kitchen and the rest of the house. If you're calling dibs on bedrooms, the upstairs one is bigger and brighter and quite lovely but it balances out because you have to go downstairs in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. The bunkbed room is up there too. The downstairs room is smaller and darker but cozy and near the bathroom. We thought it was really cool to discover a whole other room that you access from outside. It was very modern and also had a wall/ledge of the rock landscape on the inside! It had a flat screen tv and computer table, couch and bench. I can imagine it being a good place to get away from the group if you're needing some me time, or if you have kids you could throw them all in there ;) The outdoor shower was great considering there is just a tub inside. It felt relatively private. It was early Feb and the cool air was actually really nice to take a hot shower in. The hot tub was big and perfect, we had great times in there. The bbq was great, we had steaks for bday dinner! We barely left the cabin all weekend, though we did venture out for a beautiful walk around Smugglers Cove which you can drive to in about 5-10 minutes. Going down to the water from the cabin is a bit of a trek downhill through the woods, my mom couldnt go because she has a slight disability but I should add Im not sure if we even took the right path to get there. We could have called Hart to ask but we were too lazy and indifferent :) Check in/out was a breeze, communication was smooth and pleasant via email. Hart gave thorough instructions and info. He also let us check in/out whatever time we wanted which was really awesome. We stayed late on Sunday and caught the 2nd last ferry home. We didnt want to leave! Highly reccommend this listing for your next gettaway.

Have stayed here many times. Comfortable, well appointed, beautiful and well maintained lot, perfect location - quiet and on the ocean, yet close to town. Owner is friendly and accommodating. What else could you want? Beats a hotel any day.

We stayed at the lovely Halfmoon Bay Cottage with another couple and their toddler in the late summer and it was fabulous. Let me begin by saying the pictures don't quite do this place justice. Nestled in the trees with an amazing water view in the quaint community of Halfmoon Bay this cottage is the perfect blend of rustic charm and comfort. The kitchen was better equipped than any other vacation property we have ever stayed at, and you can enjoy a stunning view of the sun setting over the ocean while you prepare your dinner. We spent most of our time lulling and snacking on our kitchen creations while lounging on the expansive deck. Not to be outdone of course, most of the cabin occupants also spent a fare amount of time relaxing in the hottub which also enjoys a lovely view of the bay, and which was perfect for a little evening star gazing. All of this topped off by comfy beds, an outdoor shower, a crackling wood stove, and a top quality play area for the little ones, and we must say we had one of the best weekends away ever. Thanks very much to the owners for all their efforts on this place, pride of ownership really shows.

The playground at this property was a big draw for us, as we have a 3 year old and 5 year old - and it was perfect for burning off all that preschool energy during the day. Then into the hot tub to relax, BBQ dinner outside on the deck, and the kids went to bed in their bunks (in a room well-stocked with kids books and toys) while we enjoyed a glass of wine and watched the sunset. A beautiful property, well-cared for and full of creature-comforts (an ice-maker! surround-sound stereo! a coffee-grinder!) but not overly frilly and fussy (so no worrying about the 3 year old knocking over Ming vases or getting sand on heirloom carpets). Lots of family-friendly walks nearby, plenty of beach-combing, nothing but the sound of the herons and the waves, but within driving distance of all amenities. While our kids had a ball, this would be just as good for couples or friends. Highly recommended.

This cottage and property are lovely, even in January. We enjoyed the grounds, the night lighting, the hot tub, the outdoor shower, the huge deck and water views. The cottage is comfortable, tastefully decorated and not overdone, and the master bed oh so comfortable. There are board games to play and a range of music to listen to. A very nice place overall.

                  Year Purchased: 1983

About the owner: Our family purchased the property in 1981 and then had the cottage built to lockup by a contractor. We spent the next few years making our cottage into a very special, comfortable weekend home and have continued to make many improvements over the years. We chose locating on the Sunshine Coast for it's proximity to Greater Vancouver and yet also for it's unique location. It's only accessible via the ferry (a short 45 minute crossing) which makes it special. The Sunshine Coast enjoys a very relaxed lifestyle and provides residents and visitors with a great variety of activities not to mention the spectacular outdoors. We enjoy sharing our special retreat with guests who come from all over Western Canada, Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Texas, Hawaii and also some from Europe. It gives us great pleasure to welcome our guests to our little piece of paradise.

Why the Owner Chose Halfmoon Bay:
We chose locating on the Sunshine Coast for it's proximity to Greater Vancouver and it's laid back lifestyle coupled with lots of outdoor activities. See above for more details.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
Our cottage has all of the amenities of a house in the city, yet we have total privacy on 1/2 acre of semi waterfront with spectacular views of Halfmoon Bay and beyond. We enjoy having our boat moored in front of our property and easy access to many cruising destinations. Our grandchildren enjoy the playground on our property, the hot tub and many other outdoor activities.
