Great for a getaway

My wife and I spent 4 nights here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Everything was clean and as advertised. We loved the gas log fireplace -- it kept the house toasty warm when the temperature outside was in the teens. The free long distance calling and Wi-fi also came in handy. During our stay, some tornadoes touched down back home and caused a school delay. We had to coordinate things for our kids via phone, and our cell phones had no reception at the cabin. We visited Mount Mitchell State Park and saw some incredible views. We also drove up highway 19E to Elizabethton, TN to see the covered bridge there and to check out some antique shops. Along the way, we saw Christmas trees being harvested and even went through some areas where snow was falling. You can't beat the price of this rental.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

My husband and I just spent 4 days and nights here and we could not have asked for a more nicer place to stay. The home was clean and everything we needed to cook with was there. Very nice surroundings and close to all things we were interested in. We ate practically all meals here except one night we ventured to Jewels dinner down the road. It was just the right place to grab a quick home cooked hamburger all the way. The only thing I think could be added would be a outside fire pit.

We were here for a long weekend in 2011. The outside has been freshly painted grey and looks great. Inside was clean and cozy. My husband and I along with my sister-in-law really enjoyed our weekend as it was located close to everything we wanted to see and do. We cooked a couple of meals while we where there and everything we needed in the way of cooking utensils was provide.. Beds were comfortable and provided a good nights sleep. We will definitely return for another visit. We really did not want to leave!!!

Great location for going to waterfalls & the Blue Ridge Parkway

This home was perfect for what we needed. The location is excellent for going to waterfalls & driving the Blue Ridge Parkway. This home is the closest you can get to Roaring Fork waterfall & Setrock Creek Falls is just down the road a bit. We also went to the Falls on Whiteoak Creek & then to Crabtree Falls off the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's a great base camp for hiking & driving the Blue Ridge Parkway. The owner was excellent to work with. The master bedroom bed was very comfortable which was greatly appreciated after a long day of hiking the Blue Ridge trails. We've stayed at other homes where the bed was so uncomfortable we won't be going to them again just for that reason. That was NOT the case at this home. We enjoyed sitting on the deck while listening to the water from Roaring Fork falls run thru the creek close by. We will definitely tag this home as a place to go back to.
