Great relaxing beach cottage

I stayed at this beach cottage with my children for spring break and everyone loved it. It is an easy 2 minute walk to the beach...just down the sidewalk, across the street, and you're there. The house itself as is exactly as nice as it looks in the pictures. What really did it for me was the extensive decks - a front deck, a deck to dine on, and a deck on top of the house which gave great views. I noticed there is one review that lists a bunch of negative things and from my experience I did not experience any of those things - only thing i found true was that the grill there is a tailgate type grill. I found the value of the cottage absolutely perfect and would gladly stay here again on our next trip to Oak Island! It is perfect for a small group wanting a relaxing beach vacation.

This house is a GREAT beach house, especially for the active beachgoer. It is within steps to the beach (about 1 block) and to the foot bridge across the canal to the Recreation Center. It is in a great location on the Island on a quiet street with little traffic. The outdoor shower with hot and cold running water is great when you come off the beach from swimming, sunbathing, surfing or fishing, or to shower in after a morning exercise. The upper deck was an attraction to my teenaged kids and their laptops ! We made daily use of the outdoor tables and chairs with umbrellas, especially in the morning when it is still cooler outside. The house is simple and functional. The downstairs laundry and bath are also perfect to take care of your laundry without stacking dirty laundry in the house. If you have an ENO hammock (camping hammock), bring it ! The area below the house is perfect to strap in your hammock for a quick nap, or in our case, for reading your book. Bikes are recommended for this area of the lsland, as the location offers some great and safe back street bike rides, even for the kids. We enjoyed our week in the house and the owners are terrific and accommodating. Thanks again. Wishlist for the house: A propane grill.

We loved staying in the beach cottage. The cottage is perfectly located to the beach and the marsh. Having the outdoor shower was perfect. The cottage was a perfect place to come back to and felt just like home. We would recommend this cottage to anyone, but was perfect for our family of four.

Have stayed at this rental multiple times and have had a unique, new, and enjoyable experience with every stay. The house is in the perfect location and the views alone are enough to create a wonderful, peaceful vacation. Owners are very easy to deal with and genuinely care about the experience you have at their house. Would highLy recommend!

Perfect little cottage

My husband and I have visited this place many times and we absolutely love coming back each time.the house is on a high lot and has great views of the ocean. The interior of the home is very beachy and nicely decorated. Our favorite features of the house are the outdoor shower and the rooftop perch. It's so relaxing just to sit in the rocking chairs on the front deck and watch the beautiful skyline right before the sun sets. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone who is looking for a relaxing and peaceful place to spend time with the people they love the most. We look forward to our next visit at this perfect beach cottage!

We stayed at this cottage the first week of August 2010. The interior was just as shown in the pictures. The outside had great living spaces and very comfortable furniture. The views were amazing. We think this was a very good value. We did have some problems which were: moldy interior shower curtain which we replaced, outside shower drain clogged we fixed this, kitchen floor molding was broken upon arrival and owner blamed and charged us for this-would urge you to treat this as a rental car and do a walk through upon arrival noting any problem areas and contacting owner immediately.Maybe even photographing these problems. We were also charged for black marks on couch, cupboard and floor we had no young children with markers etc., charges for broken spring on interior garbage can which was probably from wear and tear by others too, ice maker is anemic, interior shower is clogged and filled while showering thus had to wait extended period of time for the next person to shower,grills are 2 small charcoal grills like those used for tail gating. You have to crouch down to use them and need both to feed a family.Silverware drawers and holders were filthy and had to be emptied and cleaned before utilizing. The VRBO add states wifi but they do not have it their neighbors do. The contract states no linens but this is not in the VRBO add and this includes bed linens, towels and kitchen linens. The kitchen is well stocked. You will have one roll of toilet paper/bathroom and one roll of paper towel. There are plenty of garbage bags provided. All in all this is a nice cottage. The views were spectacular and the proximity to the beach was very convenient.

If she or her husband cannot take care of an issue, she has professional contacts to fix any problem that may arise. I also am on call 24-7 via my cell phone. We enjoy the beach and our beach cottage. We especially enjoy sharing our cottage with our guests and hope they have a wonderful peaceful experience there. Excellence is our goal. Thanks, Linda

We loved this home. There is a large parking area; it's paved underneath the house and graveled in front of the house. There are two large joined decks, and a smaller rooftop deck that has an amazing view. Plenty of space to hang out in. The house was well stocked; the kitchen had plenty of pots and pans, dishes and cleaning supplies. There were board games and 3 TVs for those rainy days! The owners were pleasant to deal with: We would definitly stay here again!
