We had mixed reviews, mainly because we were expecting a "Penthouse".

What we liked: • The condo was very well laid out and appeared spacious. • It has a fully equipped kitchen, DVD, washer/ dryer. The refrigerator, dishwasher are full size. • Convenient free parking • The use of a grocery and luggage cart to carry things to our room and back to the car. • The view was breathtaking and the unit very quiet. • There was adequate seating in the living room for 4 people. • We appreciated the dining table within the unit in addition to the small table on the lanai. • The art work and floral arrangements were attractive and added a personal touch. • Lots of special touches to make people feel at home (books, music, things for children) • Great beach and lawn area on the south side of the building. • Most memorable, were the people who live there. A lot of the residents go to the roof for dinner. It’s a great gathering and worth your time to experience. What was disappointing? • This was advertised as a penthouse. My expectation was to see an apartment on the roof or top of the building. But, apparently the term Penthouse in “Real-estate terms” may refer to ANY top floor unit. This is one of many 6th floor units but not what I consider to be a penthouse apartment. • The pictures and term Penthouse, lead you to believe that the unit is adjacent to the rooftop terrace. The elevators only go to the 6th floor, where your unit is. To access the roof, you have to walk up a flight of stairs and open the door with a pass key. It’s not easy working a pass key while carrying food, dishes and barbecue utensils so be prepared to make multiple trips. • The Lanai is small. Although it has 4 chairs and a small table only 2 people can sit comfortably. • The beds were uncomfortable. • The internet did not work. The owners, said it was a hit-and-miss proposition. After considerable troubleshooting effort we were unable to connect until we moved to Lahiana the following week. • The toilet in the master bathroom needed servicing. • Even the bare minimum of laundry soap (2 T) caused the master bathroom sinks to back up. We informed the owners who said, “It happens all the time and not to be concerned”. • According to the owner, the furnishings are fairly new. Guests however, have not treated the contents with the same consideration as they would their own furnishings. Unfortunately, there’s not enough space left to give examples.

Owner response: Owner response: Thank you for your review. As owners, we welcome feedback so we can ensure a memorable vacation in a comfortable environment. The condominium is refreshed twice a year by the owners to address any improvements suggested by guests; any other appliance technicalities are immediately serviced by repairmen. The following issues have been addressed and repaired: -Toilet Trip Lever: a resident repairman has replaced the lever and adjusted the linkage. -Furnishings: the furnishings are new or fairly new. Subtle wear is expected by year round guest use for which we have no control. However, an assessment is made twice a year from the owners to refurbish or replace the condo contents. -Internet: the internet router and designated signal has been deemed reliable. Security settings have to be configured on each user's computer to access the designated condominium internet signal. -Master Bathroom Sink: a plumber has assessed the pipes (which tie-in to the washer drain piping) and is reconfiguring the bathroom sink plumbing pipes. -Lanai: All 2 bedroom condominium units at Meneshore Shores have the same architectural layouts; the condo spacing is reflected in up-do-date pictures provided on the website. -Beds: Regretfully it is impossible to cater to every individuals' sleep comfort with the condo's bedroom mattresses. -Barbecue Access: Menehune Shores offers 2 barbecue locations: the rooftop and the pool/ocean areas for the guests. Unfortunately the food to barbecue locations does not walk on its' own. - Thank you for your positive criticism.

Lynn and Murray, The ladies and I had a very pleasant stay in your condo. It is very clean and well maintained, which I so much appreciated! Thank you for providing little things as well like the entertainment centre with the TV, CD player, Ipod dock, etc. Menehune Shores is also a lovely place and also beautifully maintained. All in all, a lovely 2 week getaway. All the best!

We really enjoyed our stay here in condo #604. This was our fourth stay here in Maui and we loved it. Some of our highlights were kayaking, paddle surfing, canoeing and relaxing. This condo is very comfortable and a nice 'home away from home'. Mahalo!

This unit was perfect for us. Clean, well equipped and a gorgeous view. We found the staff very warm and friendly . We especially enjoyed the rooftop BBQ. While windy, the sunset was unbelievable , and we had a few BBQ's up there , made even more fun by a group that had an evening "conch blowing ritual"

We had a great trip here in Maui and hope to return sometime in the near future! We loved the ocean beaches and all of the activities Maui provides (snorkeling trip, church concert, zipline, luau, paddle and boogie boarding). We just got back from Maui and LOVED IT!!! I always wondered at the thought of the people that love a place so much that they return again and again ... we had never been some where that called to us like that ... now we have Maui! This trip was given to me by my wonderful girlfriend (now fiancee) for my 30th Birthday. We got engaged the first night in Maui! The condo is fantastic. They even have things for the beach so you don't have to bring them from home, snorkel set, body boards, surf boards, towels, beach chairs etc. Excellent setup! Nice to have A/C in each room. The condo was very clean and well maintained. The sunsets from the lanai were fantastic, and they are right, every night is a different sunset. This condo is close to everything without all the noises, you can hear some from the street, but not as much as if you stayed in other places/cities on Maui. The Indian restaurant downstairs is very tasty as well. Definitely a reasonably priced condo in Maui. I have recommended this place ever since, and hope to come back soon!! p.s. The links on your other website were fantastic! (car rental and Eskimo Candy to name a couple)

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had an absolutely wonderful time staying at your lovely condo. The lagoon was perfect for our 21 month old little girl Taylor, who took in the beach as often as she could. When we asked her if she liked it here, there was an enthusiastic 'Yah' and a lot of clapping! We would certainly recommend this place to others. Thankyou for sharing your piece of paradise.

This property was the perfect selection for our maui trip. The owners were great from the begining with communication and detailed infomation about the property. The condo was very nice, and with a beautiful ocean sunset view every night you cant beat. Everything was very clean and well maintained. The location is perfect for anyone coming to scuba dive, surf, snorkel, golf, etc. with all these within minutes of the condo. Plenty of great restaurants very close.

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

Lynn & Murray, Thank you so much for the use of your condo and all amenities. We felt very much at home while here at our home base. We were gone everyday for the most part but really enjoyed coming back to recharge our batteries and a leisurely breakfast. Friday we stayed around all day and just relaxed. Watched whales from the deck and enjoyed the day. We recommend the Menehune Shores restaurant for a really enjoyable meal. We wouldn't hesitate to come back. Mahalo

We've really enjoyed using your well-fitted condo. The beach umbrella, boogie boards, chairs & coolers were just the best! The view every morning was a delight. The pool area, rooftop & Indian restaurant were all great to use often. We truly had a restful time with leisurely coffee/tee mornings & afternoon naps between long days of exploratory road trips & beach days. Maui Experience

Overall we enjoyed the accommodations. The view is breathtaking. Barbeques on the roof and by the pool were a nice touch. Beach necessities - towels, boards etc were all there. Pretty well all the cooking utensils were provided - even a teapot and kettle. The Monsoon Indian restaurant which is located in the building is definitely a good place to eat. Certainly the price in this restaurant is fair and you can even bring your own wine - they supply the glasses. The elevator in the building is very fast. However, there were a few things that could be improved on : The frypan is starting to warp which creates cool spots when cooking. The rest of the pans and pots etc were fine. The dishwasher ( relatively new ) was not useable even though a repairman came. With 4 people in the party many dishes were created and thus had to be washed. We didn't come to Maui to do dishes every night - that was disappointing. The dryer belt is starting to squeak which is noisy. The property as a whole was clean and well maintained. Also, the air conditioner unit is located on the balcony which when running just about makes it unbearable to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful view in peace. In order to sit outside in peace one has to shut off the air conditioning. To be fair, there is no where else to put it. Also, because the unit is located close to a main road traffic can be heard.

The following issues have been addressed and repaired: -Frypan: a replacement frypan has been purchased. -Bosch Dishwasher: the computer control board was found to be faulty and replaced by a service repairman. We apologize for the waiting time of parts that were shipped from North America. -Dryer: the dryer belts have been replaced. We suggest that guests limit the amount of laundry per wash and not overload the washer/dryer. -Air Conditioner: The complex, Menehune Shores, has installation codes for the placement of air conditioning units, for which we are in full compliance. For the few condominiums in the complex that have the luxury of air conditioning units, the set-up is identical. The majority of guests (including the owners) use the air conditioning during the evening to facilitate a proper sleep. A trade-off can be made by guests during the day by opening up windows in the lanai and kitchen to facilitate cooling in the condo from the ever present trade winds. -Traffic Noise: Menehune Shores is one of the few complexes that is situated on beachfront property. With all Kihei vacation properties, a certain amount of commercial or traffic noise is expected; our unit has minimal traffic noise and tranquility. Thank you for your positive criticism.

Spectacular!! The condo was great and the girls loved the twin beds. Location is #1 - easy to go south or north and return to the comfy condo. Took full advantage of the pool, pond & snorkeling outside the breakwater. Thanks.

Aloha & Mahalo! As we experience our last few hours here in Maui, we reflect on the wonderful memeories our family made here. This is as close to it gets to "Heaven on Earth"; it is so beautiful here. Thank you for sharing your home with us. I couldn't get over how well stocked it was (beach towels, boogie boards(my kids loved them). There was nothing extra we needed to go out and purchase for the 10 days we were here. As I sit out on your lanai at 6 am having my coffee, I have never known such peace and beauty as I watch the ocean waves roll in. What a wonderful way to spend 2 weeks with a great oceanview and fantastic whale watching from the roof upstairs. We really enjoyed the pool and the roof top barbecues. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

This condo has felt like home with daily breakfast and coffee on the balcony, morning swim in the ocean, fish pond and pool, cooling afternoon winds and calm, colorful sunsets. I pray the natural beauty will continue to floursih and be appreciated by generations to come on this beautiful, paradisical island of Maui. Thank you for providing us a lovely place for us to experience and enjoy!! Mahalo

Thank you for an unforgettable , beautiful experience here in Kihei. Your condo provided us a comfortable, relaxing & delightful time both inside and on the lanai. The sunsets each evening were glorious. We loved the fishpond, pool & grounds. A perfect vacation! Mahalo!

We have had a wonderful stay here on Maui. Your condo worked beautifully for my aunt, uncle, son and myself. The elevator was great to have. The view off your lanai is super. We truly appreciated your well furnished kitchen! Thank you for letting us use your special home in paradise!
