Accommodations:  Lake House, 4 Bedrooms + Loft, 3 Baths (Sleeps 9-10)

Camp Kidura is a great destination for families or friends looking for a beautiful escape to relax and explore. With four bedrooms, two lofts and three full baths, this new, luxurious and comfortable Adirondack style home comfortably sleeps 10.

Located on the southern end of majestic Upper Saranac Lake in the Adirondacks State Park, Camp Kidura is part of one of the historic Great Camps of the Adirondacks. It is a new, custom timber frame home. It is located just feet from the water with a private swimming area, dock, and signature boulder over the water. Camp Kidura also has rights to a communal beach/picnic area, fire pit and boat launch.

Built for entertainment purposes, Camp Kidura has an open, custom-built kitchen (commercially equipped) that opens to the great room where it is hard to miss the spectacular/dramatic views of the lake and mountains through a wall of windows. The kitchen is fully equipped and has granite counters with custom, Douglas fir cabinets.

Two wood burning stoves and radiant floor heat - in addition to the large stone fireplace - are very inviting after a day’s activities. A large wrap around deck on the first level and a second story deck expand the already large living spaces. Immediately adjacent to the water is a stone patio that offers a more natural feel next to a boulder peninsula.

Nearby activities are endless… fishing, world-famous fly-fishing, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, boating, and swimming right off the docks. Shopping boutiques and novelty shops in Tupper Lake, Saranac Lake and Lake Placid can offer a break from the outdoors for those who wish.

Some examples:
• Panther Mountain hike – a scenic 1.6 mile round trip hike with spectacular views.
• The new "Wild Center", the Natural History Museum of the Adirondacks is just minutes away.
• A leisurely canoe ride can take you to local destinations on Upper Saranac Lake such as the Wawbeek Hotel and Restaurant and Chapel Island.
• Olympic Village of Lake Placid and Whiteface Mountain are about 30-40 minutes away.
• Historic town of Saranac Lake is a short, 10 - 15 minute drive.
• The Visitor Interpretation Center at Paul Smith’s College is also a short drive.
• The Adirondack Museum is about 45 minutes to an hour away providing a rich and interactive way to learn about the rugged and therapeutic history of this vast state park.

Camp Kidura includes wireless, high-speed internet access (for those that want it), a laundry area with washer and dryer, cable television, linens and housekeeping at the end of your stay provided.

It is with great excitement and anticipation that we began our memorable times in the Adirondacks . We have built it for years of family fun and memories in mind. We share our home in hopes of other families creating and sharing memories, like ours, for years to come. Camp Kidura was named after two brothers who, on a slow afternoon at work one day, decided to finally realize their dream Adirondack home after a childhood of only visiting. Welcome and enjoy.

Why the Owner Chose Saranac Lake

We selected the Adirondacks and specifically Upper Saranac Lake because it is a beautiful lake that is large enough to sail, paddle or motor boat - but not crowded or overdeveloped like many other lakes its size. The Adirondacks is a huge park with much to offer. Our location provides a nice mix of activities and scenery without being too remote (grocery store and restaurants are a short drive away).

The Unique Benefits at this Lake House

We are right on the water, have a beautiful view and a boat house with some water "toys" (canoes, kayaks, rowboat). We can walk to a beach and take walks in the woods. We are a short drive to numerous hikes and another beach, plus skiing and other year round activities. The famous "Wild Center" Natural History Museum is also nearby.

B
Middle Saranac Beach

Short, easy hike takes you to Middle Saranac Lake. Nice destination for swimming, relaxing, or a picnic lunch on the beach.

Owner's Map of Saranac Lake

My husband and his brother have wonderful childhood memories of spending their summers on a lake with family. We wanted to create similar memories for our children. Already, our young children tell us - "Camp Kidura is the best place in the whole wide world!". They look forward to our visits with great enthusiasm. We enjoy the peaceful setting with lots of outdoor activities. It's great for our family - and we invite you to create your own family memories here too.

What a wonderful time we had! The views f the moon over the lake will always be with us as will the beautiful sunrises. The Kids really enjoyed fishing in the lake - caught many fish! We had such a great time - can't wait to come back!

We had a great time. Our collective children [ages 3 to 11] swam an estimated 5 hours per day! They loved the boats and caught lots of fish. Two of us adults swam to Birch Island and back - and to Dock Island! We had so much fun - great house and great spot!!

We had a great week at Camp Kidura! The house was comfortable and easy to make into our home for a week. We spent most of our time playing in the water - swimming, fishing, kayaking and canoeing and tubing. Our kids loved playing many of the games (thank you!) and the puzzles amused us adults as well. I highly suggest the Wild Center as an activity. Thanks for putting a lot of thought into the house - it showed!

The two of us had this magnificent house all to ourselves after several friends had to change their plans at the last minute. Undeterred, we packed our gear and headed north for ADK. As we both had to take care of “day job” activities, we really appreciated the internet access and scanner. Once free of our work duties, we took advantage of the well-stocked boathouse: first we canoed to Chapel Island, another day I took out one of the kayaks (Tina wasn’t so sure about the “trapped leg” seating) and then today we took the rowboat out to the middle of the lake for a better view of the amazing wooden boat parade. We also braved a swim each morning before the rest of the Sekon neighbors even had their first cup of joe. And as I schlepped my bike all the way up, I found the roads ideal for cycling (30-40mi routes abound along scenic roads lined with forests and lakes). There were also many rousing nights of championship board-gaming (of which we both won a few rounds and decided to call it even for the sake of our relationship…). Tonight we settled down on our blanket next to the Saranac Lake (downtown) for the fireworks show. And of course, the kitchen is so well setup and stocked that we had a wonderful, home-cooked meal each night. Clearly worth the 13 hours of driving from Kentucky! Thank you for making this wonderful home available to the rest of us!

Yes we had a wonderful and eventful time at your cottage. We were hiking up Ampersand and almost - but not quite - interrupted a marriage proposal. I think we missed the moment by about 15 seconds! Hiking down Big Slide (I think that's the correct name), one of our group broke her wrist. Just an unlucky slip of her foot. We absolutely loved your cottage. We enjoyed meeting Chick - we had so many questions for him about the history of the area. I'm sure we will rebook next year

From the moment we walked into your beautiful home until we left we had a great time. Your home is just perfect. Our hockey tournament came second to sitting around the roaring fire playing games and talking. Thank your for a wonderful weekend!!

BEAUTIFUL! We loved it at Camp Kidura. The camp, the area... all lovely. The camp was immaculate. The area was pristine. We enjoyed tubing, skiing, snowshoeing, and lots of time around the fire enjoying games, books, family dinners, and of course the view. We can't wait to return! Nothing better than a relaxing, peaceful retreat with family and friends.
