Stayed there for Christmas. Great location about 5minute drive to Wisp base lodge. Secluded lot surrounded by woods. Nice and clean with everything we needed. We really enjoyed the space. The cabin is well laid out, and the family could gather around the fire or sit at the dining table and play board games, or watch movies. Internet was fast enough to stream Netflix via a laptop no problems. We brought extra towels for the hottub based on reading the other reviews; a 15-20 minute drive will get you to a Walmart (and other stores) if not to the closer supermarket so you can just come up and decide if you need anything. The hottub lid may be a bit hard to take off and put back on for one person. The owner was very responsive in booking process. We had such a great time that we almost want to be selfish and not rate our stay so it is easier to book. We feel very lucky to be able to find such a nice place to spend our holiday, and look forward to chances to stay there again.

Disappointing vacation

Our stay at Flight Time (August 21-25, 2011) was not as pleasant as other reviews indicate. We rented the cabin for 5 nights when it was not available for a full week. Unfortunately, a bat got inside the cabin in the middle of the night two of the nights we were there. After the second incident, we left a day early. We communicated this problem to the owner early the morning after the first bat incident. We had to do this by email as the phone number for the owner on the lease and in the notebook in the cabin, was no longer correct. (We left the correct number in the notebook for future renters.) We did hear back quickly from the owner, who sent a handyman to address the bat issue. The handyman did not close the stuck flue in the fireplace, which was the suspected point of entry, but oddly did leave a pair of dirty flip flops in the living room (a little humor for our stay). The owner refunded our security deposit and an amount less than one night’s stay as he claimed the night we did not stay was charged at an additional night rate. However, that was not delineated in our lease. The amount was listed as a total for 5 days, and we, apparently mistakenly, thought it was the weekly rate prorated for 5 days. We also asked to be refunded for the two nights that we were not able to sleep because we were trying to get the bat out of the cabin. The owner has refused to negotiate any amount of refund for these nights. He claims we did not notify him in a timely way, however we notified him the morning following each bat incident. (We didn’t think it appropriate to call him at 3:30 AM.) He also said we needed to claim that the cabin was uninhabitable while we were there. This may be the case from a legal perspective, but we were too polite. We would return to the cabin if the owner would issue a fair refund for our lousy vacation, the bat issue had been addressed and the cabin had been thoroughly cleaned including deep carpet cleaning. The location is great for Wisp, the hot tub is nice and we enjoyed a day trip to Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater in PA.

Owner response:I sincerely apologize for the bat disrupting your stay. This is the very first bat issue we have ever had.You emailed me late at night and I promptly called you early the next morning. You explained that you had a hard time sleeping because you knew there was a bat I the house and that is completely understandable. The very same day I sent my handymen out to locate the bat. They could not find a direct point of entry and left. Bats are protected in Garrett County until October first. The next day I took the proactive step of contacting you to make sure the bat did not come back the previous night and you stated there were no issues. Three days later I receive an email from you stating that you are on your way home a night early because the bat came back and not to call you during your trip home. I responded via email that I was very sorry and I would automatically refund the last night’s stay. I only found out about the other nights when I sent the security deposit and refund back to you a couple weeks later. I am very bothered about this because you are demanding, weeks later and without notifying me of the return of the bat, that I refund you over half of your entire stay. If you would have called me and let me know the bat had returned, I would have put you up in a hotel or refunded those nights if you left early. The simple fact is that you are stating the house was “unlivable”, but you were living there for the two nights in question, and you made no effort to contact me in any way. You admittedly state that I was very responsive, why didn’t you call? We have many completely satisfied clients and many of them are repeat customers.Giving me a negative review because of a problem you withheld from me is simply not acceptable. Again, this is a very unfortunate situation and I wish there were no issues with your stay. Your actions gave me no ability to respond and address the problem. Staying without telling me there was a problem and asking for night off later is unrealistic. Furthermore, I wanted to address the pricing issue. The website clearly states that we book for two nights with the third night free. Below those rates you will see the additional night rate which is what I refunded to you without having to be asked once I knew you left a night early. I urge anyone reading this to please read all of my reviews as this one does not accurately represent the honesty and diligence in which I conduct the rental of our family cabin Flight Time.

This was our first stay at Flight Time, and won't be our last! We had an amazing weekend. We went for my husbands 30th birthday and invited some friends. We relaxed by the fire pit and used the hot tub. The cabin was absolutely beautiful. I think there were some problems in the basement, it seemed to be getting remodeled, but it didn't affect our stay at all. The full kitchen was so nice. Also not having to bring linens was great. You will still need to bring some things like paper towels,toilet paper,etc.(it's not a hotel people) There are towels for showering, but plan on bringing extras for the lake/hot tub use. We brought our quads and dirt bikes and were able to get in some good riding. We enjoyed Flight Time so much our group is hoping to make it an annual trip!

really a nice relaxing stay. Master bedroom had stained sheets and no others to change them . bathroom rug I would not step on in bare feet. basement needs attention and will not sleep 8 at this time. Jacuzzi water dirty. with all these problems. They need a new cleaning crew. But i would stay here again

Owner response:We apologize for the mess and will try to keep better tab on linens. The basement was flooded two years ago after a massive snow melt and is not mentioned as usable space in our advertisement. The hot tub water will always contain reddish sediment because the water is changed between tenants and after a hundred gallons or so from the well it starts pulling sediment from groundwater. We have had it tested and the water tested very good. Again, we apologize but the cabin has been too busy for us to use this year and it's usually on our visits that we catch these things. Glad you had a relaxing time though.....

Another Great Time At Flight Time!!!

This was our Third Time Staying At Flight Time. It's always great to relax at the outside fire pit. Also the beds are great. We all Ride Motorcycles and had 7 bikes their with plenty of room to park. Bear the neighbors dog was up to visit us a couple of times. We enjoyed the peacefull quiet times at the cabin and also How convienient it is to run down to deep creek lake about 4 to 5 min. Love Honi-Honi and the Black Bear . Great food and fun We'd recommend this cabin to everyone . Thanks Troy ... The Millers Mel & Joan. We'll Be Back Again For Sure

Great vacation

Place was beautiful. Great location, just a few minutes from the lake. Nice 2 acre plot. Plenty of room for the kid to run around; he loved the swingset. Wifi worked great. We stayed for a week so I'd recommend to bring extra trash bags, dishwasher soap, toilet paper, paper towels, etc. - everything is there to get you started and may be enough for a day or two stay. Washer and dryer in the basement were great to have but don't forget your soap. There were plenty of extra pillows and blankets. We had 4 adults and 1 child. There were enough towels for bathing but if you make good use of the hot tub, it's beneficial to have a few extra. The fire pit in the back yard is quite nice. The local grocery store sells firewood but there are several other smaller places that also sell it for a little less. The owner was great to work with; prompt replies to emails. Great experience. Loved the place.

Excellent Vacation Home Near Wisp

We stayed at Flight Time during MLK weekend of 2011 (1/14-1/16). The house and the lot are both gorgeous, and there was plenty of space for the 8 of us. It was extremely clean and the peacefulness of the wooded area really helped after a long day of skiing. The hot tub was serviced the day that we checked in, so we know that everything is maintained properly. The place is beautifully decorated and was a perfect house to stay at for the weekend. We highly recommend it!

We loved Flight Time! It was so close to everything yet still in the woods so you could escape everything. The hot tub was wonderful after the blustering cold we experienced on the slopes. Even though we had eight people and only two couples we were able to figure out a sleeping situation. The only thing I would reccomend is to bring extra towels and a non stick pan. They really have a great place here. Thanks for sharing Flight Time! We will be back again thats for sure!

Wonderful, Relaxing Getaway

We stayed at Flight Time for my 40th birthday getaway, and it couldn't have been more perfect. The cabin is gorgeous and secluded enough that you really feel "away from it all." We loved the grill, the fireplace, and especially having morning coffee in the hot tub. It's about two miles away from town, so it's close to shopping, the lake and the ski resort. We enjoyed going to Swallow Falls State Park and the Art & Wine Festival at the Garrett County Fairgrounds. In addition, we got to meet the neighbor's dog "Bear," who was absolutely adorable. Thank you to Troy and his family for making their cabin available to rent. We can't recommend it highly enough, and are already deciding when we want to come back!

If you wish to book the cabin please understand that we accept bookings on a first come first serve basis because of the cabin's popularity. I recently received a negative comment from someone who did not send their address for agreement preparation and I assumed they were no longer interested, as a result, the cabin was booked by someone else. We do everything we can to accomodate people, however there is a lot of interest in Flight Time.

We loved Flight time! We stayed at the cabin for our honeymoon. It was so relaxing and nice to get away from home and stress. We just returned from a long weekend at flight time. We loved the cabin! It was so cozy at night, and a wonderful getaway for our group. The fire pit & hot tub are by far the most relaxing. We met 'bear' the neighbor's dog..but did not see or hear any actual bears. The owner, Troy, is a very nice guy and he is great to work with. We will definitely return to flight time for our next trip to Deep Creek.

We just returned from 'flight time'. We really enjoyed our stay. The cabin's fire pit, hot tub, and grill made our stay at flight time even more enjoyable. The cabin owner is extremely nice, and very easy to work with. He will make sure your stay at flight time is an enjoyable one. You might even see some deer or the neighbor's dog - 'bear' during your stay. Even though this cabin is located in McHenry, MD it is only a hop and a skip away from the lake, swallow falls, and other outdoor adventures. We will definitely be coming back to flight time on our next trip to Deep Creek MD. Thanks again Troy!

We just returned from 4 days at Flight Time and we totally enjoyed our stay! I was teary eyed that we had to come home back to the reality of life. Staying at Flight Time definitely puts you at peace and helps you forget the cares of the world. Great amenities, comfortable accomodations, and picture perfect views. What more could you ask for! The owners were great to work with and answered all of our questions swiftly and with care. We'll definitely be back! LOVE THE FIRE PIT out back! Bring a flashlight though, it's pitch black out there at night. 5 stars all the way for Flight Time!!

We have rented the cabin twice now...once in 2007 and once in 2008! We love it. It is beautiful and so relaxing. The hot tub was a great addition. "Bear" the neighbor dog was so sweet and loved visiting with him. I HIGHLY recommend this cabin.

There were so many great things about this beautiful and comfortable cabin--the hot tub, leather recliners, rocking chairs on the front porch, fire pit, grill, internet access, and all of the little extras that you normally don't get with a rental property (spices, tons of dishwasher & laundry soap, plastic wrap, citronella candles & lighter, etc). The best part, though, was the feeling of total seclusion while being so close to stores and activities. The cabin allows for complete privacy, and we saw lots of deer, chipmunks and rabbits in the lovely surrounding woods. Swallow Falls was a short drive away and we enjoyed the easy hiking and waterfalls, and Foodland was very convenient as we cooked on the grill every night. Be sure to stop by Deep Creek Sweets for some fudge, and play miniature golf, both of which are nearby. The cabin was also full of books, brochures and menus in case you needed any ideas. Flight Time was an incredibly relaxing place to stay and the owners were very fast to answer emails. They have done a wonderful job of decorating and thinking about what to include in the cabin to make a great vacation. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking to get away for a while.

Fabulous Getaway!!

WOW!!! This home rental was just perfect for us. Troy (the owner) was great to deal with. This area was a half way point between my brother and I, and it fit our bill exactly. The cabin is new, and everything in it!! There was so much to do in the area, all year round. Don't miss Swallow Falls state park, the waterfalls were spectacular.

Since I lived more than 10 years in Garrett County, I knew of its beauty in the fall and each of the other seasons. I was delighted to find even more than I expected or imagined--deer as we drove into the spacious driveway and a most beautiful setting in the autumn glorious woods with complete privacy. My new husband was amazed and we totally enjoyed our three nights and 3+ days at Flight Time. It couldn't have been better! Next time we'll know exactly where to find it (way back in the woods) and we hope more of our family can come. We would recommend this lovely log cabin to our friends, too. The cabin was wonderful as well as the surrounding area. We found everything we needed and would definitely rent this vacation home again. |Flight Time rental was a tqtally relaxing experience. The interior of the log home was much more than expected. Up-to-date appliances, exceptonally clean, and very comortable. The furniture was awesome made of logs in the bedrroms and surpisingly enough comfrotable mattresses. The overstuuffed recliners provided a "sneak sleep" while anticipating our next adventure. THE OWNERS WERE MORE THAN HOSPITABLE and was nice enough to pre-stock the house with basic needs for the kitchen and bath. Coffee being the best.....right down to laundry detergent and plastic wrap ware for the kitchen.....spces included! The amenities were extra special. This is the 4th vacation home we have rented and by far the best.The locals were friendly people and the town was quaint with so much to do. I have let friends know this is a superior rental with great owners who also let us bring our pets. We were sad we forgot to leave a mesage in the guest book.....

Great Place...

My family and I loved this place. It was top notch and a quality facility. The furniture was leather, the kitchen was complete, washer & dryer in the basement and INTERNET access so I could stay in touch if I wanted to. There was room for the kids and their cousins to play outside in grassy area as well as the driveway. The cabin is about 3 miles or so from the grocery store/lake/sights but it was great. It was private enough the kids could be loud and they didn't disturb anyone. There was also a little neighbor boy and his dog that visited us. This is a great place! Kurt horn
