Had a fantastic time celebrating my friend's birthday. Three of us came - two stayed in the cottage across from the main house and one stayed in the main house. Loved outdoor lava shower! Cottage was small but cute and perfect for two people or a couple and one child. Has mini-kitchen, shower, and TV (main house rooms do not have TV or private shower). Lovely big kitchen in main house where substantial full breakfast served in the morning. Owners live in house 200' up the hill so the well-stocked kitchen is just for guests the rest of the day. Breakfast accommodated to special dietary needs and included fresh fruit grown on the property and varied from eggs, french toast with macadamia nuts, etc. Lots of places to sit inside and outside with just your party. Lovely, traditional old-Hawaii grounds with fantastic view were great to relax and enjoy - made you want to come back from activities and hang out, watch the sunset. Easy drive to Place of Refuge, snorkeling, hiking, restaurants, and town of Kona 30 min away. Owners pleasant and personable but not intrusive. Very steep driveway up to property but regular rental car did fine. Early morning wildlife and roosters - may want earplugs if you are a light sleeper and staying in the Cottage. Could hear snoring guest next door one night in the main house. Overall, was totally fabulous and well worth it - will definitely come back!Did you find this review helpful? We stayed there as part of an Aloha Magazine feature story last year and we very happy with our experience. The host was wonderful and the place was truly paradise. The property has a lot of modern amenities to make you feel comfortable and has lots of old quality construction charm that is not seen today. It is up on top of the hill with excellent views and perfect for sleeping at night.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

A group of us stayed here for a week in May-- sort of a reunion. Incredible place- beautiful inside and jaw-dropping vistas outside. Great breakfasts-- and the nicest owners. We're already planning a return visit.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Aloha Michael & Greg, We are deeply grateful for your contributions to our wedding in January. We couldn’t imagine a more perfect setting for our wedding than The Ka’awa Loa Plantation. The atmosphere and environment were exactly what we were looking for…naturally beautiful, tropical, authentic, relaxing, peaceful and of course, romantic. The plantation was intimate for our small wedding, but yet comfortable and spacious for our family to spread out for a few days. But what makes The Ka’awa Loa really stand out is your hospitality, welcoming nature and Aloha spirit. Your attention to details from fresh flowers to manicured grounds and gardens and little surprise “extras”, all made our wedding and our family’s experience uniquely Hawaiian and truly the trip of a lifetime. We would be happy to be a reference for any future guests that are considering a wedding at the plantation. Mahalo nui loa, Mike & Lisa CamiréDid you find this review helpful?
