Pelican's nest was everything we hoped it would be and more! It's a beautiful, comfortable, and clean house. The kitchen is complete with everything you might need to prepare a meal or entertain guests. There are two grill on the deck, gas and charcoal, and the view off the deck is beautiful! The owners provided wonderful support and happily answered all of our questions. We never saw any of them during our stay. We can't give Pelican's nest a high enough score...they only left us 5 stars to use...we need 6 or 7!

Beautiful, serene home

Thanks for a long, lovely weekend in your wonderful home. The house is spotless, well-equipped, quiet, and restful, and the views are amazing. We had a hard time staying off the deck, enjoying the view, air, sky, and quiet. The house is an easy, 10-min. walk from the beach. Our kids and dog were happily exhausted each day. We loved the shooting stars at night, the sea lions barking, the seagulls and pelicans. Even the fog was wonderful! An excuse to build a fire in the fireplace each night. We hate to leave--thanks for a memorable stay.

Beautiful Ocean View Home

Our family had a wonderful week at Pelican's Nest! It is a beautiful home with gorgeous ocean views! It is spacious, well designed, charming decor, comfortable, nice fully stocked kitchen. The redwood panneling and all the pretty/cute pelicans, pictures, crafts/art objects create a warm homey atmosphere. It was just what our family was looking for (included 3 couples, 1 adult, and a 6 month old grandson). A lovely site and a nice quiet neighborhood. There are so many conveniences and thoughtful touches, TV's with cable in all the bedrooms, large ocean view deck with a hot tube, barbecue grill, free domestic phone calls (our cell phone reception was poor). Enjoyed sitting around the dining table and looking at the ocean, or watching the fog roll in. We enjoyed taking the short walk down to the ocean at Cook's cove. Drove slowly north one day to Mendocino - spectacular coast. The Point Arena lighthouse was interesting and worthwhile. Liked the Trinks little restaurant (good gelato) in Gualala, The Chowder House at the wharf in Point Arena, and the yummy bakery Franny's Cup and Saucer in Point Arena. The owners Marcie and Patty were very helpful and pleasing to deal with. Highly recommended, food for the soul, and we would love to stay there again!

Heaven by the Sea

Our family along with our Golden Retriever enjoyed 7 days at the beautiful Pelican's Nest and like others have said, the photos do not do this home justice. We walked in and the first thing you see are the amazing ocean views from the wall of windows. We walked from room to room and just loved the layout and amenities of the house, so clean and inviting. Also true is that this is one of the most well-stocked homes we have rented and had pretty much everything we needed. We enjoyed clear and sunny skies most of the days we were there and our favorite pasttime had to be sitting in the jacuzzi overlooking the ocean and listening to the waves in the distance. We just couldn't believe we were this blessed to be able to enjoy such an amazing place for our vacation getaway. The town had the best gelatto & sandwiches ever at Trinks and we enjoyed day trips up the coast to visit the lighthouse and the charming town of Mendocino. Took walks with our dog every day to Cook's Cove beach where we truly felt as though we had our own private beach rarely seeing many people when we were there. We had an amazing time kayaking down the Gualala River into the Redwoods. We just want to thank you again for sharing your home, a truly relaxing and unforgettable place to enjoy spending time with family and getting away from it all. We hope to return again one day. Thanks for the memories!

Absolute Relaxation

This house is an unbelievable gem. The pictures don't even come close to doing the view justice. Set on the hillside north of town, there is a feeling of privacy and solitude even though there are neighbors nearby (but hidden from view). The house has been meticulously maintained, extremely clean, well appointed with cozy places to sit and relax as well as very comfortable beds. The bedding and sheets are all top notch. The place feels very luxurious while at the same time very family and pet friendly. The enclosed deck/yard is heaven for pups. We are avid cooks and the kitchen had every single thing we needed. We enjoyed the short gorgeous walk down to the private beach, it was often the most we accomplished all day. The hot tub off the master bedroom divine and the huge stone fireplace was a great place to end the day. Truly one of our favorite get-a-ways ever. Gualala is a magic place of great beauty and this house is a great spot to enjoy all it has to offer. The owners are available and easy to deal with. Staying in this house you can literally feel that many, many good times have been shared there, the place is filled with love. Thanks for everything Marcie and Patty, we cant wait to return!

Pelicans' Nest

We celebrated my triplets 21st birthday in grand style in Pelicans' Nest. We spent time oohhing and ahhing as we explored the house on our arrival. The weather was outstanding, warm and clear all 4 days. The beautiful house overlooked the ocean, with a yard full of birds and flowers. Being campers, we are used to bringing everything with us. We had everything we needed, and more. It was clean and inviting. We had a fire in the big rock fireplace. We watched the stars at night from the hot tub, and combed the beaches during the day, just a short hike down the road. Any question I had was answered immediately. It was fabulous, and we would love to make it an annual event.

Family Reunion

We enjoyed a family reunion at Pelicans' Nest, Aug. 13, to 17, 2010. We came from NJ and were joined by our children who live in California and Seattle. The house and all furnishings were great. The hot tub was especially enjoyed by our granddaughters. We saw whales, hummingbirds, and enjoyed a trek to the beach. Lucky for us the fog stayed off shore. The view was spectacular.

We really enjoyed this house and other reviewers are right that the photos don't do it justice. This is a great well equiped vacation rental. The kids the dogs and the adults all had a great time. We loved the view from the deck. Easy walk to the beach. Loved looking at the stars from the hot tub at night.

AT HOME IN GUALALA

Thank you for the wonderful opportunity to share your home. We felt like it was home, the listing decription for location was excellant. Gualala was sunny our entire stay, even when sourroounding areas were very foggy. We have rented many homes on the golf course in Bodega Bay, this home was the best maintained home we have rented,. The home has all of the kitchen equipment you need, and is close to a well stocked market. Pictures do not accurately reflect the property because it is so much more when you see it. The deck looking out at the ocean for morning coffee,afternoon drinks and BBQ dinner was perfect. A great wak to Cook's Cove, a beauiful beach area for play. We did not take chrildren with us but a very child freindly home, we did take a small dog and the yard is secure. Our family will ask to come again and hopefully stay a litle longer.

Pelican's Nest was a perfect place for our family get-together, we were there for four nights - and hated to leave. The house was clean, and comfortable. Three generations enjoyed the beach which was an easy walk away. The town of Gualala was only two miles away, so we were able to easily pick up needed supplies at the store, and rent kayaks for a relaxing trip up the Gualala River. We loved sitting on the deck and enjoyed the ocean view and the beautiful sunsets. We're hoping to return soon.

Quiet and private location on a beautiful part of the California coast. Gorgeous home that is spotless, very comfortable and generously equipped. Beautiful views from the entire home and huge deck. Hot tub while listening to the ocean waves. Easy access to a secluded beach. We saw sea lions, and many birds. Owners are very accommodating, available, and helpful. We can't wait to go back.

My family and I stayed at the Pelican's Nest for a family reunion. We had an amazing time. The house is extremely well-kept, clean and beautiful. The pictures do not do it justice. Gualala is an adorable town with lots to do (or not to do!) including a great Farmer's Market on Saturdays. We couldn't have asked for more! Thank you for sharing your home with us! My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Pelican's Nest over a long weekend this past February (2008). We had a full house and hung out inside for most of the time (playing games, eating, drinking - watching the Oscar's!). My favorite place to hang was at the dining room table sitting towards the large windows that looked out to the ocean. We enjoyed the mammoth rock fireplace as well! When we got tired of sitting, we took walks down across Hwy 1 to a path to the beach. The ocean was really churning and it was amazing to watch. I would definitely stay at the Pelican's Nest again...looking forward to it, in fact!

We loved Pelicans' Nest. We had a wonderful time. The house is one of the best equipped ones we've ever stayed in and the beds are nice and comfortable. Our dog Lucky had a great time in the backyard; we felt it was very safe!! My inlaws enjoyed most of all the incredible view and the Hummingbirds. The kids and we liked the hot tub very much!! All together, we had a fabulous time and we'll definitely be back!
