Gleneden Beach house description
Comfortable, fully equipped one-bedroom beach house (sleeps 4) PLUS cozy, cabin-like studio (sleeps 4) rent together = two separate units for the price of one. Ideal for extended families or two couples. Perfect for a peaceful weekend getaway or a long vacation.
Sheltered, private, and quiet, two short blocks to easy beach access and miles of gorgeous, sparsely populated beach. Fall asleep to the dreamy sound of the surf.
Wireless internet to help you stay in touch, locate sightseeing spots and special events, learn about local history, geology, and ecology.
This home is very comfortable with newer appliances and furnishings and offers the opportunity to hang out together in the great room of the main house and then have the privacy of your own separate unit as well.
Do you have a short-term job at the coast, or need a quiet, comfortable place for writing, reflection, or project work? Use the studio for your private workspace! Consider longer-term rental, especially during the winter season, when special rates can be negotiated.
The Hideaway is a cozy beach house (sleeps 4) plus a separate studio (sleeps 4), nestled into natural coastal vegetation, in a quiet neighborhood. It is two blocks from easy beach access, with just a peek of the surf from the house. Along five miles of uncrowded sandy beach you'll see magnificent surf, seals, fishing boats, and - if you're lucky - whales, during their seasonal migrations.
Family owned and operated - not under professional management. We strive to provide personal service and a clean, comfortable environment for our guests.
Gleneden Beach is on the Central Oregon Coast, 5 miles south of Lincoln City, 6 miles north of Depoe Bay, and 18 miles north of Newport.
In tranquil Gleneden Beach, you will enjoy the quiet of a small community, solitude on the beach, and also be minutes from Lincoln City with it's movie theaters, restaurants, shopping, casino, antique stores, gift shops, glass blowing, surf shop, museum, and more.
Enjoy crabbing & bird watching in Siletz Bay & refuge, golf, tennis, spa services, & shops at nearby Salishan Resort.
Less than 10 minutes from the crashing surf at Boiler Bay Wayside and the quaint town of Depoe Bay, where you can arrange for charter fishing and whale-watching excursions.
About 20 minutes along scenic Hwy 101 to Newport, with Oregon Coast Aquarium, OSU Hatfield Marine Science Center, historic working bayfront, Yaquina Head & Yaquina Bay lighthouses, many shops, galleries, art & cultural events, restaurants and pubs, plus charter fishing and crabbing.
The Hideaway has the relaxing, non-overwhelming ambience of a traditional Oregon beach house. The studio interior resembles a cozy, knotty-pine cabin.
Your well-behaved dog is welcome to stay at the Hideaway and enjoy this incredible beach with you. ($50 pet fee) Dog throws, bed, and bowls are provided. Please launder/wash all dog items for the next guests.
There are some canine rules, to help the Hideaway remain clean and pleasant for all guests. Dogs MUST be housebroken and may not be on the furniture and bedding. They may not be left unattended in the Hideaway unless they are in a kennel crate. (Sorry to say, but not everyone has been considerate, so this paragraph had to be expanded.)
The main house features a friendly, open great room with a fully equipped kitchen, living room, dining area, gas fireplace-stove, futon sleeper sofa, and cushy Ashley sofa, love seat, and chaise lounge. Dining table seats 4. The bedroom has a queen-sized bed and shelves with books, games, and magazines.

We had a wonderful birthday weekend for Dad's 60th, complete with a bonfire on the beach roasting hotdogs and s'mores. The home worked well for our group--daughter and son-in-law and their two kids shared the larger unit, where we all congregated during the day, and Mom and Dad took the smaller unit, and survived getting in and out of the loft bed, even at our advanced age. We were together but everybody had their own space and privacy when needed. Everything we needed was there. It was a short walk to the beach, quiet and secluded and very peaceful. We would love to come back.

Owner response: We're glad everything worked out for you and hope you will, indeed, return. Aloha!
This was a nice property located less than 1/4 mile from the beach. Owners were very easy to deal with and house was in good condition. Nice place to sit on the porch watch the humming birds and relax.

Owner response: We're thrilled that you had a good time at the Coast and that our beach house met your expectations. Do come back! Remember, we have a returning guest discount. Thanks for taking the time to write a review!
We had a great two-night stay in the main house. Everything was clean, fully equipped kitchen, nice gas stove, great shower spa. Very short walk to the beach. The only change we would recommend, as have several others, is an updated TV. We have gotten spoiled by HD, big screen, etc

Owner response: Thank you! I hope you will visit again. We have upgraded the Direct TV lineup. :)
There was 4 of us, 4 generations of women. We arrived to a little hello note and a cup full of ocean treasures. That made us happy right from the start. We stayed at the house many years ago, so we knew the layout already. Its a small but very open and roomy house. The kitchen had what we needed. To me, there are lots of sleeping areas, but really only one real bedroom and bed. The extra apt/lil house is quite cute! They have a really great waterfall/jets spa. Love it~ The only thing I wish the place had was better choices for watching TV at night. A new TV would be nice, and/or at least some movies to watch in the dvd/vhs player. The direct Tv has very few channels to choose from. Maybe a toy box for kids. Internet was slow. This all wasnt a big deal, I would stay here again, we had a wonderful relaxing fun week~

Owner response: Thank you for your comments and suggestions. We have expanded the TV channels available. Usually the internet works well but, as elsewhere, sometimes there are server interruptions and slowdowns beyond our control. We hope you will return to rekindle your memories and enjoy lovely Gleneden Beach. :)
A Family New Year at the Beach
A Family New Year at the Beach
Incredible weather and a super time with both the main house and the cozy cottage. Loved the natural wood grain ceilings and the cabin next door. Aweosme and huge kitchen. Did the Kohler 10 jet spa with the waterfall and powerful jets on the back...amazing! The Kitchen is huge! Great free wireles and all the satellite stations you can imagine! Nice selection of books...lovely natural forest ( hideaway) setting outside the windows. Loved all the extras...pots,pans, spices, etc.....and only 3 minutes walk to the raging surf. Save money and walk to the beach..loved that the cleaning fee was not as high as some of the competitors.

Owner response: Reviews like this are wonderful - we have tried to anticipate whatever needs a guest might have and are gratified to know they are appreciated. Y'all come back!
We came to the Hideaway for my boyfriend's 30th birthday. His family came up from California, and we drove from Portland. We loved the house! We tp gave the studio to his parents, and the rest of us "kids" stayed in the main house. We especially enjoyed the heater and the spa. And the layout of the kitchen allowed for a great social atmosphere throughout the house. We had so much fun at the coast fishing and enjoying the beach. Our dog especially had a great time with the beach so close by! I was on crutches at the time due to an ankle injury, but I had no trouble getting around the house. The customer service from Barbara and her family was warm, welcoming, and greatly appreciated. We would definitely stay here again!

Comfortable beach house
Comfortable beach house
Very comfortable home that is set up for ease of use. We enjoyed the beach which was only a couple blocks away so we could go back and forth easily. The house is pretty uncomplicated and provides a safe, easy to use and enjoyable place to use as a base to explore the area. We mostly just went to the beach which was gorgeous and relaxing. We actually saw a whale on our first day and the lovely rocks that were left out for us when we first arrived from that mornings beach walk was a very nice welcoming gesture. Overall we enjoyed our stay and appreciated how well set up the home was and easy to use and easy to take care of. Wifi worked great.

In staying for a conference at Salishan, this little hideaway was perfect!! It had everything we needed and was really close to Salishan. Wonderful home with a small studio for separation (my girlfriend came with me) My dogs were at home too. It was very cozy as if it were our own home at the coast. The house had everything we could possibly need and we will definitely be coming back to stay in the future. Gleneden Beach is a wonderful beach without alot of people like some of the other beaches in the area. Real quiet neighborhood for peace and quiet. Perfect for dogs! Also close enough for doing everything else we wanted to do. Thank you for allowing us to have a nice retreat in your home after the conference!

These "homes" and perfect for families with children! Everything from being stocked with games and puzzles, spacious livingroom and deck, close and easy beach access with very few people and agate hunting, and the fact that the studio is so well equipped itself. Very affordable especially since you can do all your cooking and entertaining here. We couldn't believe how well stocked appliances, dishes, and more pots and pans then most own at home! Having a washer and dryer is a lifesaver! We loved being only 2 blocks from the beach, 2 miles from a grocery store, yet just a few miles from the city! Barbara was a delight to work with, as was the caretaker of the property who is highly knowledgeable in rock hunting!

About the owner: I am a 4th generation Oregonian, transplanted after college years to the Midwest and the Deep South. My homing instinct, however, was strong and persistent, and it brought me back to Oregon.
Why the Owner Chose Gleneden Beach:
The Coast has a special mystique. No matter what time of year, no matter the weather, there is always something to see and to do. The dynamic Pacific Ocean is as mesmerizing during a crashing winter storm as it is on a sunny, summer day. There is nothing else like falling asleep to the sound of the surf.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
My vacation property is a special place where I can go and have everything I need to be comfortable, prepare meals, and have guests. It is in a quiet, traditionally 'beachy' neighborhood of individually owned homes that reflect the different decades during which people came for a relaxing, coastal lifestyle. There is reviving joy in beachcombing, agate-hunting, reading, working a jigsaw puzzle, and even snuggling in for a mid-day nap.
