Let Casa Sueno be your Dream House during your special getaway to Culebra, the smallest of the Spanish Virgin Islands.
This custom designed and furnished modern home is one of a handful of exclusive high-end rental properties available on the island. It is beautifully situated to enjoy the cool breezes and magnificent Culebra rainbows while giving you stunning views of one of the most beautiful bays in the Caribbean from nearly a thousand square feet of covered veranda offering chaise lounges and a hammock. Casa Sueno is furnished with one-of-a-kind Latin American antiques and hand-crafted hardwood furniture designed for the home by Puerto Rico’s top wood craftsman.
The master suite (which has a Queen bed) provides a breathtaking view of the ocean from the moment you wake up. The master bathroom is unlike any other. The shower overlooks the bay and a private patio and garden. Open the floor-to-ceiling glass doors of the shower and enjoy the island breeze as warm water flows over you.
The great room of the main building is anchored by a fully equipped modern kitchen and bar seating around the cooking island, all overlooking the water and comfortable dining room and living room seating. Two plush full-size futons provide wonderful afternoon nap sites or can comfortably function as beds.
The second building offers two more bedrooms, a full-size bed in one and two twins in the other, which share a nicely-appointed bathroom. Laundry facilities are available for rentals of a week and longer.
Between the two buildings is a peaceful and beautifully landscaped enclosed courtyard, complete with a tropical water feature, designed and crafted by one of Puerto Rico's finest landscape architects. A courtyard bar area opens from the kitchen, allowing people in the kitchen to chat comfortably with those enjoying the serenity of the garden.
In the parking area is an outside shower, which allows you to rinse off before entering the home. Adjacent is a fish-cleaning station for anglers who have caught dinner.
Throughout Casa Sueno, imported Italian and Latin American ceramic tiles grace the floors and the bathrooms. Designer lighting, inside and out, along with unique fans in every room complete the picture of a comfortable island retreat. Beach chairs, coolers and beach towels help make visits to nearby beaches complete. A private dock owned by area property owners is minutes away and provides a delightful venue for sunset cocktails as well as dockage for Casa Sueno’s guests with boats.
The house is equipped with wireless high-speed satellite internet service, satellite television, a hardline phone (a calling card is needed for long distance calls) and a new generator that automatically engages if island power is lost, ensuring a comfortable stay. All three bedrooms have air conditioners, though they are rarely needed given Casa Sueno’s location on top of a hill, which guarantees delightful breezes coming through the home from any direction. A gate at the bottom of the driveway promises absolute privacy.
This exclusive property is just two or three minutes from Zoni Beach, one of Culebra’s favorite spots and less than ten minutes - primarily through bird sanctuaries – from town and from famous Playa Flamenco.
Casa Sueno is the ideal location for couples looking for a quiet secluded spot and luxury, as well as for families who desire space and comfort. Three couples would also be quite comfortable.

This extraordinary property is beautifully situated with exceptional views of Maglar Bay. It is spotlessly clean and well appointed with many elegant touches. The real highlight, however, is the front porch that overlooks the water. All of our stresses melt away as we either watch for shooting stars at night or the birds feeding at day. The sunrise is spectacular. We have stayed at this house for two consecutive years now. The owner is so nice that you feel as though you are a guest in the home of a friend. The caretaker is extremely responsive and genuinely cares that you have a wonderful stay. Culebra is not for everyone. It is rural and largely undeveloped. It is not a place to be seen. That said, it is not crowded and breathtakingly beautiful. If you need a place to truly relax and get away from it all, Culebra place to go and Casa Sueno is the place to stay.

Manager response: Maren, I am SO happy that you and your family had another wonderful stay at Casa Sueno. Culebra suits you, and you suit Culebra. And as you've seen, the view and the ocean are more than willing to take in and dispense of all stress you bring with you! Hope you'll be back!
Excellent for a family vacation.
Excellent for a family vacation.
The house is very well located, it has a gorgeous view. Spacious and lovely open space for family to enjoy time together. Make sure lights and fans are fixed, specially in the kitchen area, there were a few not working properly. The food disposer was not working, and the kitchen faucets have to be checked too. The property manager was very helpful, although we did not get to see her, she was available by phone on our arrival day.

Manager response: Hilda, I'm glad you enjoyed the house. I would like to respond to a couple of your comments. Carissa, the property manager, was not able to meet you upon your arrival because - as you know - you changed your arrival at the last minute. As we had both explained to you, she does not live on Culebra full time. In order to accomodate you (even though we generally do not allow last minute changes), we had one of her parents-in-law (both know the house very well) meet you and greet you. The kitchen fans and lights DO work. You have to use the switch on the wall and the remote. Both are well marked. We will certainly take a look at the garbage disposal. Thank you. Bonnie

In desperate need of a vacation in the sun and wanting to get away from it all, we came across Casa Sueno on Culebra. Friends had given a good report about the island so we searched around for a suitable rental. The owners description of Casa Sueno sounded good, the reviews sounded good but you never know til you try. After spending a week I am pleased to report that the reviews were UNDERstated. The house is a gem, clean and well maintained beyond expectations, the view of Pela Bay is spectacular, and less than a mile from Zoni Beach, and the doors open to welcome teh breeze 24 hours a day. We couldn't have been happier. Carissa the housekeeper was very helpful with our first day navigating from the airport and always available to answer whatever questions we had about the island. Bonnie the owner was a great help prior to us making our decision by describing island life and is a great reference for the island as well as her house. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat, and anyone looking for a relaxing stressless vaca shoud also. The restaurants in town are not Michelin category but we don't travel to the islands for gourmet, NYC supplys thhem all week long. They are simply understated with good menus and well prepared food. The beaches are to die for. There are no crowds. We found Zoni Beach to suit our needs and only a couple minutes from teh house.Zoni faces NE and gets a nice ocean breeze, with a great panorama including Culabrita and St Thomas and the Virgins in the distance ( a days sail away). The beach is about a mile long with a dozen or two people on it. Bring an umbrella and a cooler and you're in Heaven! Need a vacation in the sun this is it. Not only would I recommend it to all my friends, but we'll be back next year. Bonnie thanks a gazillion!

Manager response: You're welcomed a gazillion! This is the only house I've designed and built from the ground up, and that you enjoyed it means the world to me. And that you love Culebra, my favorite beach Zoni (close to the house), means even more. Come on back! And thank you for your kind review. Carissa, who manages the property, is the best! Cooler? We had one... will get another asap. Beach umbrella? You're on. Having lived there for years I'm not sure how to anchor it in our amazing Trade Winds, but we will find a way! Just want you to come back and be happier. Thank you. Bonnie
Peaceful and Fun

My wife and I stayed at Casa Sueño March 2-6, 2013. Our son (21) stayed with us only for the first night. Reservation process was easy. The owner and her assistance were great and fast responding to e-mail messages or text within minutes. This house is at the top of a hill with a beautiful ocean view, much better view than what you can appreciate in the pictures... The first two days, there was a constant breeze, air conditioner was not necessary. We slept with all windows open. Our son slept on the comfortable futon in the living room and he enjoyed the breeze. I liked the sound of the breeze through the house. The last two nights we used the air conditioner in the master bedroom and it worked great. The house was very clean, the description of the property and amenities accurate, we had everything we needed. The property provides total privacy without being secluded, it is just a 3 minutes drive to Zoni beach and 10 minutes to downtown. Of course you must have a car. We rented a two-doors Jeep from Carlos Jeep Rental. The property has parking space with an electric gate. In terms of the Island of Culebra, I'll tell you that it is a very rural island with BEAUTIFUL beaches. Flamenco beach is gorgeous but our favorite is Zoni beach. Make sure you walk all the way to the left end of Zoni beach where people builds small towers with balancing rocks, just a fun curiosity... In spite of the simplicity of this rural island, you will find excellent restaurants. Service is courteous but usually slow, so, go enjoy your food but don't be in a hurry. There are several small markets in the island where you can buy all the supplies you will need. If you like SCUBA diving, there are two diving operations in the island: Culebra Divers and Aquatic Adventures. This time I did two tanks with Aquatic Adventures. They had divers and snorkelers in the same trip. I enjoyed the trip and felt safe during the dive. We also did the Jet Ski tour with Culebra Eco Tours. It is a fun two hours tour, including some snorkeling time at Tamarindo beach, where you can swim with turtles. Finally, I must mention the shower at the master room at Casa Sueño. It has a glass window that opens toward the ocean view. There is a special magic to it!! You must be there to understand the feeling, so go for it.... ;-)

This property feels brand new and is totally clean. The appliances are modern and everything seems to work. The open layout, with views to the sunny south, make this a very relaxing place to hang out. It feels secluded and private without being desolate. The deck overlooking the bay is perfect for hanging out. You can pretty much fold back the windows/doors all along the entire south side of the house, letting the breeze waft through. Our favorite Culebra beach, Zoni, is really close--just a few minutes drive. Rent a Jeep. The property is protected by a gated driveway. The shower in the master bathroom has large windows that open up completely that make it like showering outdoors--outstanding!

Manager response: I'm so delighted you enjoyed your stay, Andrew.
We stayed here over New Years 2012. The home is beautiful and the location/view is world class. Watching the sun rise from the porch was a wonderful way to start the day.The home is well appointed, the beds were great and we never turned on the ac as the breezes were heavenly. We saw lots of birds and even came across deer grazing below the house. The caretaker was very helpful and we look forward to going back again.
