What a treasure!!

Date of Stay: 05/11/12 Review Submitted: 05/21/12

To anyone who is considering a stay in Santa Fe, please consider yourself fortunate to have access to such wonderful lodging. Initially, I was planning to book a hotel but decided to look for something with two bedrooms. I was amazed to see that I could stay in a historical casita for about the same price as a hotel. The owners are fantastic with communication...fast and informative. They also goes above and beyond any hotel/resort I've ever stayed at. The fridge was stocked with coffee, tea, eggs, artisan bread, butter, jam....a bottle of wine! There were even chocolates on the night stands in the bedrooms. Oh....and bathrobes too. We felt extremely spoiled and cozy. The house is immaculate and the space is great. The pictures are beautiful but they don't capture how comfortable the beds and couches are or how special it is to sit in the beautiful courtyard at night and drink a glass of wine or have coffee there in the morning. We walked everywhere...the plaza, Canyon Rd and the Farmer's Market at the Railyard. There are so many restaurants within walking distance. Without hesitation I would encourage anyone visiting Santa Fe to forget the hotel and book this house instead. The owners have created a wonderful, authentic Santa Fe experience and I'm so glad I didn't miss out on it.

Lovely

Guest: Denver (Morrison, Colorado)
Date of Stay: 08/11/11 Review Submitted: 09/08/11

Dear Linda: Enjoyed our stay last month at Casa Colores. It is a lovely home. It was all we expected from the description given. Clean and well maintained. Nice touch to have coffee, wine, etc. avaiable on arrival. The candles really added to the charm of the cottage. One thing I would suggest is an additional air conditioner. It was rather warm if you did not have the main bedroom. Otherwise, it was a wonderful experience. -Denver

Owner response:Thank you Suzanne for taking the time to write a comment and what a lovely one. You are so welcome and I am glad you enjoyed your stay. Would love to put in an air conditioner in the second bedroom but there is no way to physically put one in. I realize there were some really hot days which is pretty unusual. Hope you stay with us again on your next visit to Santa Fe. Kind regards, Linda

"Our Perfect Home Away From Home"

Guest: Tina (McLean, Virginia)
Date of Stay: 04/20/11 Review Submitted: 05/05/11

We are a family of 3 who stayed at Casa Colores for 3 nights, April 20-23, 2011. Casa Colores truly became our "home away from home". The casa is beautifully furnished, within easy walking distance to downtown/plaza, and filled with all sorts of little touches that are very welcoming (bottle of wine, fresh eggs, orange juice with pulp (just the way my husband likes it and a and much-appreciated effort was made to provide it especially for him), coffee, delicious bread, butter, basket of fresh fruit, etc.). Quite an array of goodies, even chocolates on bed side tables! This casa worked extremely well for us. It gave us room to spread out with our adult daughter in the lovely twin-bedded room, while we were in the even more lovely master. A large and functional bathroom was shared. Washer and dryer conveniently located behind closet door in bathroom, which we promptly put to good use. The living space is extremely comfortable, and all clean and tidy. There is a charming patio, which can be accessed from both the master bedroom and living area. It has a fence for privacy and a lovely, two-person swing, where we sipped our wine in the evenings. We ate our breakfast fixings out on the patio table each morning, enjoying the sun, garden, and bird song. Linda and her mother, Greeta, did everything possible to make our stay here both memorable and welcoming. We would definitely stay here again and would encourage our friends to use Casa Colores!

Owner response:Hello Tina, Thank you for taking the time to write a comment and what a lovely comment you wrote. Really glad you enjoyed yourselves so much. It really helps when potential future guests are making a decision where to stay to read such a detailed comment from a guest. Kind regards, Linda

A wonderful place to stay

Guest: Kathy (Warrenton, VA)
Date of Stay: 10/15/10 Review Submitted: 10/23/10

My husband, daughter and I stayed at Casa Colores for 5 nights this month (October 2010). The place was beautifully decorated and as advertised. We enjoyed being so close to the Plaza. Linda dropped by to be sure everythng was going well however I missed her as my daughter and I were at the spa! I am so sorry I did not get an opportunity to tell her how much we enjoyed the property. The little courtyard was charming and we enjoyed the bottle of wine while swinging and listening to the calming water fountain. We travel quite a bit and I hate hotels as I fell so confined. This is just an absolutely lovely place and i would recommend it to anyone!

Owner response:Thank you Kathleen for taking the time to write such a lovely review. So glad you enjoyed Casa Colores so much. October is probably the last month that guests can enjoy the private courtyard and all the beautiful flowers that my husband tends to so lovingly. Kind regards, Linda

Cozy and Comfortable Casita

Guest: Karen and Dee (Houston Texas)
Date of Stay: 08/26/10 Review Submitted: 08/31/10

We were two "older" women and long time friends who came to Santa Fe to relax for a long weekend. Casa Colores was the perfect place to do that. The furnishings and ambience were beautiful - we especially enjoyed the outdoor patio and swing as we had our morning coffee. The casita was in easy walking distance of the Plaza. Linda, thanks for everything - we'll be back, soon, I hope! (We may even bring our husbands next time!)

Owner response:So appreciate you taking the time to write a review. Really glad you enjoyed the private patio garden area. My husband loves to garden and does create a lovely space to enjoy your morning coffee. Hope to meet your husbands are your next visit to Santa Fe. Kind regards, Linda

This is a charming adobe just a few blocks from the plaza. It is beautifully decorated, the owner is gracious and very responsive and I can't say enough great things about this property. The four of us had a wonderful long weekend in Santa Fe and staying at Casa Colores was the icing on the cake.

Casa Colores

As a family of 3, with a need to work while vacationing, this has been one of the best VBRO selections we have used anywhere! The home is lovely! The furnishing include more than most (kitchen essentials, bathroom supplies, laundry supplies, etc) Our arrival was welcomed with fresh fruit, a bottle of wine and immediate response to any question we had. Working from this setting has been wonderful. We use the secluded patio while both of us work on our laptops from the wireless access. Our daughter has been able to read non-stop since she has her own bedroom too. The walk to the Plaza each day is perfect - not too far and not too close. We enjoy getting out and seeing all that Santa Fe has to offer. Gracias por todo de Casa Colores! PS - it is great to have off-street parking for our car!

Dear Linda, Thank you so much for renting out your beautiful casita. This was the first time we had used VRBO and so we didn't know what to expect. Your property profile was very accurate and the photos were just as we found your home. The casita was very comfortable and we loved the high ceilings, the tasteful furnishings and your little extras that were left for us, yum! Although being so close to downtown, it was very quiet at night. Casa Colores is so convenient for walking to downtown Santa Fe, an easy 10-minute walk to the main Plaza, and the many nearby restaurants. It was just perfect for us. I was impressed by your quick response to our inquiry and your helpfulness and friendliness too. Linda, we want to come back and visit Santa Fe again soon. Our vacation was just perfect. Thank you so much. Jan x

We could not have been happier with this rental! This casita has the period details and architectural flavor Santa Fe is known for but at the same time has all the comforts of an upscale hotel (but with privacy!). The high beamed ceilings give the casita a very open and roomy feel. The owner has thoughtfully considered her guest’s every comfort and provides many nice touches and extras. The casita is colorfully and beautifully decorated; and all the furniture and linens are very comfortable. We enjoyed the using both the patio and the kiva fireplace. Stay as long as you possibly can!

OK, the real delima here is not what to write about the Casita, but whether I should write anything at all. Why, might you ask? Well, the answer is simple...this place is a GEM and I don't want the secret to spread too far! Alright, it's a bit selfish of me, so of course I'll comment on my experience, but you should realize how special this place is and you will want to keep it to yourself as well!! If you are looking for the quintessential, Santa Fe experience, then look no further. This lovely adobe style casita will charm you from the moment you set foot inside. And for the record, the photos here, while nice, do not do the place justice. This home has been written up in magazines showcasing both the history and the painstaking remodel. What resulted is a getaway that will leave memories for a long time to come. The list is endless... rich adobe textures, warm south western colors, deep love seats, traditional kiva fireplace, magical patio setting and on and on. From the moment you wake up (incredible mattress in the master!) to the time you relax by the fire or enjoy the stars with a nightcap on the patio you feel like you are HOME! Each night, we would leave the bedroom door open to the patio (great screen doors) and fall asleep to the trickling lilly fountain...so zen like you couldn't help but forget about the everyday hustle and bustle. Linda, her husband and her mother are the nicest people you will meet!! Linda is such a gracious and welcoming host you will instantly feel the warm Santa Fe spirit embracing you. The little touches went such a long way! Bottle of wine, bed side chocolates, organic eggs, delicious bread from Whole Foods, organic coffee beans etc. Walking in to the soothing sound of classic jazz was not only the perfect, but that channel became our go to throughout the stay. It set the tone for our stay as the TV never came on. Lastly, don't let any maps fool you (I thought Santa Fe was bigger than it is)... the location of the casita is phenomenal! We had our bikes, but you can EASILY walk to the Plaza, Rail Yard district and Canyon Rd. Linda, thank you so very much... we will DEFINITELY be back!! Short list of things to do, see and eat... * Chocolate Mavin * El Farol * Pasquales * The Tea House * Agua Santa (AMAZING) * Farmer's Market * Bike/hike at Dale Ball Park * O'Keefe Museum * Canyon Rd Galleries * Marty Sanchez golf course * 10,000 Waves (get a private tub!) * Great Spanish

Casa Colores is a heavenly retreat with all the comforts of a five star resort. My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights in early June and we did not want to leave. Entering the Casa was like leaving the hectic world behind. What more can I say about this beautiful retreat? I am a perfectionist and this place exceeded my expectations. Perfection is the only word that I can use to describe this casa. Soft french sheets, gorgeous serene patio, music playing and wine with fresh fruit. What more could we ask for? This exceeds any hotel I have ever stayed at in Santa Fe. Do NOT hesitate to book this place.

Linda: We wanted to send you a note to tell you how much we enjoyed staying at Casa Colores for the week. It was the perfect retreat after a day of exploring Santa Fe, or a day trip to Bandelier or beyond to Taos. The kitchen had everything we needed and a warm fire in the evening was great for relaxing. We would definitely recommend your cottage to friends headed to Santa Fe!

Dear Linda, We loved staying at your place from December 20-24,2008!! I can't imagine a better greeting than the soft music playing, the lights on, and all waiting for us at the casita when we arrived late late late on 12/20. What a great continuation of a relationship that promised to be spectacular from the first time I connected with you via email and website. I am so sorry that we didn't invite you in to lounge with us that morning you called and wanted to meet us but we were in our PJs and declined--in hindsight, we should have leapt at the opportunity to meet you and thank you in person. But unfortunately hindsight is clearer than "in the moment" sight, and we didn't. I am so sorry now that we didn't take advantage of your on-site and in-person hospitality and thus missed the chance to meet you. We loved loved loved your place! It was beautifully decorated, every piece of the furniture was comfortable, it was exquisitely equipped, and there were signs of special touches and thoughtfulness absolutely everywhere! I loved greeting the person who shovelled our driveway and sidewalk, since it was such an over-the-top and pleasant service. By the time the shovelling was needed, I should have known that such thoughtful service was simply "standard fare" in your book--such touches were clear throughout our stay. But they were still astounding and very much appreciated. Happy 2009 to you and (belated but not insincere by any stretch of the imagination) THANKS!!!! Tracey and Aaron P.S. Particularly loved the Linda + Tim imprint in the driveway cement--how utterly charming!!!!!!!!"

We stayed at Casa Colores with our 22-year-old daughter in May, 2008. We simply can't say enough good things about the experience here. The location -- a short walk from The Plaza -- was perfect. The home itself is lovely, relaxing, immaculate, and beautifully appointed, with extremely comfortable beds. The patio was wonderfully relaxing. It was the nicest vacation rental we've ever had -- by FAR! And Linda -- who had music playing, wine waiting, butter and eggs in the fridge, and chocolates on our bed stand when we arrived -- could not possibly have made us feel more at home. There's no question but that we would want to stay at Casa Colores again... and again. Thank you, Linda!

Our family stayed here in April and thoroughly enjoyed it. The owner was so thoughtful and friendly; she even mailed pajamas back home to us when my husband left them behind. The living room area is somewhat small but the bedrooms and bath are spacious. The garden is charming and the fireplace cozy on a chilly night. We truly felt at home. Highly recommended.

As stated in earlier posts, this is a marvelous 2br casita(?) within minutes of the Plaza. This is a home we would live in, untouched! A great bed to fall into after a full day of romping around. We elected to cook our dinners in a small but wonderfully appointed kitchen. Perfect for 4 people. The home, and it is a home, has a Washer/Dryer combo that made it a breeze to clean up after a relaxing day of rafting or a hard night at the opera (8 minutes away!). Terrific colors and a visual treat. This is our new Santa Fe home away from home.

This place has all the advantages I look for in vacation rental and more. The decor is attractive and unique to Santa Fe, it is charming, clean, quiet, very comfortable and accessible to all of Santa Fe's attractions. All these advantages are complemented by many extras- breakfast ingredients, some basic cooking ingredients in the well- equipped kitchen, lovely sheets and towels, and a lovely garden. My husband and I were delighted with our stay at Casa Elena. The friendly owners were immediatly responsive to our single inquiry. The home is well appointed with much care given to personal comfort and design detail which afford a relaxing and luxurious experience. I was happy to find a Whole Foods grocery close by as the kitchen lends itself beautifully to cooking. Great patio space, nice short walk to the Plaza and located in an old quiet neighborhood of adobe's. My husband adds, "Damn comfortable bed." Good working space for internet use. We will be back!
