Located on the shore of beautiful Tunk Lake in Downeast Maine is this rustic fishing camp. The camp, originally using only propane gas for lights and refrigeration and an old fashion wood burning kitchen stove for cooking, has been upgraded over time to electricity for lighting and the refrigerator. There has also been a gas stove/oven added in the kitchen to supplement the wood stove. A wood burning parlor stove and propane burning heater will provide any additional heating requirements, no matter what the weather. The kitchen is stocked with the usual compliment of dishes and utensils. Bring sleeping bags or sheets there are blankets.
Water for washing, cooking, etc. is readily available in the lake, just outside the front door. For your convenience, we also just added running water in the kitchen sink and a new bathroom complete with hot water for the shower and sink. If you're looking for a real rustic experience, just keep that door closed and use the outhouse behind the woodshed
Pristine Tunk Lake is located about midway between Ellsworth and Machias on State route 182. There is a State maintained boat launch area approximately 2-3 minutes from camp. The lake features fishing for landlocked salmon, togue and brown trout along with the usual selection of sunfish and shiners for the younger kids to catch from the shore.
To go upstairs you would have to go up a pull down set of ladder stairs that come down from the ceiling. Downstairs you have 3 single size beds 2 of which can be hooked together to make a double bed....moreless
