Mountain memories.

Guest: Naomi (Conway, SC)
Date of Stay: 04/13/12 Review Submitted: 04/15/12

Perfection on a mountaintop! Great wi-fi/tv/cable reception. Very homey and yet secure feeling with all the doors wide open to allow the wonderful mountain air to come wafting through. Loved, loved, loved the decor. Already told the owners to expect an empty cabin cause I was packing it all up and taking it back with me. Nicest, most thoughtful touches for a rental...bath salts in the upstairs. "ladies" bath. Gas grill was killer! Hot tub was huge and very much utilized. Too hot for a fire in the fireplace but there was plenty of wood available. You can either bring clothes/groceries and never leave or beat feet and be close to everything! Thank ya'll for letting us stay in your wonderful home! We truly created some wonderful memories here!

Ultimate Solitude

Guest: Connie H.
Date of Stay: 02/18/12 Review Submitted: 03/13/12

Nice cozy, immaculate, quiet, feeling that welcomes you as you come to such a beautiful cabin. Robert and his wife are two great people that welcome you without personally greeting you at the front door. Their imprint on the cabin makes you feel like you have known them for years. The cabin is cozy for 2 and large enough for 6. Hot tub is a good one with it being clean, and powerful jets. You have your two choices of decks, screened or non-screen plus a front porch. There is only one cabin close but not too close. You feeling like you are the only ones there on that hill. With the rushing water from a creek down below, sitting on the deck with a good book is perfect. The cabin sets in such a good place that you can understand why it stays so booked. We will be trying to book this cabin again real soon if god willing. Murfreesboro, Tn.

What A Wonderful time we had!

Guest: Karla and Greg (Longview, TX)
Date of Stay: 09/05/11 Review Submitted: 09/12/11

I just wanted to thank the Quarles for allowing us to lease their cabin for our anniversary! It is a wonderful place - ideally situated for all of activities! We are already thinking about our return trip! There is everything from relaxing in the cabin/hot tub to zip lining, water rafting, trips to Cades Cove and so close to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg yet secluded enough to feel you are escaping! We went to a new place going into Pigeon Forge called The Waterfall Garden Grill - you talk about great eats at a great price and the view of the waterfall...we LOVED IT! This cabin has another cabin next to it but we still had all the privacy we needed! Loved the garage - you don't see that anywhere and the cabin itself was well appointed and we didn't want to leave. We will be back for sure and we met so many nice people. Thank you again!

Proposal!

Date of Stay: 09/02/11 Review Submitted: 10/18/11

We rented this cabin with my family for a "birthday getaway." I wanted to just spend time with my family in the mountains for the long Labor day weekend. My boyfriend and I were sitting out on the porch just talking and catching up on life when my parents went to bed. He went in to get me some water, and came out with water and a huge box with a huge bow. He told me since it was midnight and officially my birthday I could open the gift. I was so excited because I thought I was getting a Kindle. Little did I know, he had been spending months crafting and woodworking a beautiful jewelry box. I open the box and pull out the jewelry box. I was so excited! I opened the lid, and there were 2 letters. And then a 3rd letter in the drawer. And the end of the letter he had written, "p.s. - I designed this with hidden compartments." And in the hidden compartment was a equally beautiful ring! This all happened on the front porch on the red swing. I have great memories there, and I can't wait to come back after next summer with my husband! We loved this little house, and the memories made there make it even more special. Thanks so much!

All the reviews on this page due not give this cabin justice. My wife and I were here 09 July-16 July 2011. The cabin is fully equipped and is spotless. Robert was very easy to work with. I cannot say enough good things about this cabin. It is very private and peaceful. We will be back! Thank you Robert! Bruce and Tracy Martindale

The Perfect Cabin

Guest: Mary and Greg (Maumee, OH)
Date of Stay: 06/11/11 Review Submitted: 06/20/11

From the moment we walked in the door we felt right at home. It was so comfortable and clean. Your cabin was perfect! The pictures don't do it justice. We had our daughter and our three grandchildren with us. The cabin had plenty of room for all of us. They had the upstairs and we were downstairs. The kids loved watching the little critters on the side deck every morning (you even provided the bird seed). We had raccoons on the side deck two nights to the kids delight. We went tubing and ziplining. We shopped, ate at Applewood Farmhouse and Bennett's BBQ. Went over to Cherokee and ate at Paula Deen's Kitchen. And we went to a Car Show in Pigeon Forge. We saw lots of wildlife in Cades Cove including lots of bears (our favorite place in the park). And after each busy day, we felt so lucky to be able to come back to our quiet, restful cabin in the mountains. We made beautiful memories that will stay with us forever. Your cabin and hospitality have spoiled us, we will be back to stay again. Thank you for sharing your cabin with us.

The Best Deal in TN

Guest: Pam D. (Ann Arbor, MI)
Date of Stay: 05/21/11 Review Submitted: 06/01/11

This was our 3rd stay at this wonderful cabin. Robert and Juletta are the best to work with. Not only is their cabin well-maintained and meticulous but you will not want for anything, they have stocked their cabin with all the comforts of home (except for food, of course). The amenities they offer -- Wi-Fi, hot tub, free long distance, three TVs with cable are just the icing on the cake! Their rental price cannot be beat and they even offer a discount to seniors! Activities: Cades Cove is a must, Tangers Mall in Gatlinburg, Moonshine Ridge Country Store (on US 321/73), Bush Brothers & Co. Baked Beans Plant - Chestnut Hill (45 min drive), and if you are real adventurous drive the Tail of the Dragon (it's not for the faint of heart) This is the only cabin we will stay at when visiting the Smoky Mountains. Thank you Robert and Juletta for sharing your beautiful cabin with us. Can't wait for our next visit ! Pam

The cabin again, was so clean and nice for us.The housekeeper,Sheila does a wonderful job.I brought my sister this time and NOW she wants to go there again. She had the top floor to herself and read every book that was there. We loved going to the end of the driveway and listen for birds in the morning. We used every pan to make a wonderful breakfast and we grilled hamburgers. The hot tub was very relaxing on a warm night.I saw a snake in the bushes and it hissed at me,there was a skink on the deck and a lizard. My husband hiked to Rainbow falls while my sis and I stayed at the cabin and just listened to nature. The weather was in the 80s.It was awesome and great. We will be back next May for our third year in a row.Thank you Juletta and Robert for letting us share your wonderful cabin for 7 glorious nights.I think we get more than our moneys worth staying here.We shopped the entire Wears Valley Road, that was so fun.I bought everything!!!We ate at Bennetts,we were so sticky,we had sauce everywhere but our mouths!!!The Smokin Pig was not set up yet so we were sad about that, they have the best barbq sandwiches. My husband sure knows how to drive on the curves now,he gets better every year! The views are amazing from the top of the road at the Homestead.I even saw a mailbox with Parton on it,I know it is one of Dollys relatives, that is really cool.I slept good every night, the bed is so comfy.I miss the porch already, that is my favorite place.I recommend this cabin for anyone who wants to relax or be close enough to go to all the places the mountain offers, you will not regret it.

Owner response:Darcy, Thank you for the wonderful comments. We are glad your sister enjoyed her stay! We also appreciate your staying with us again. We really appreciate it. Robert Quarles

Another great stay

Guest: Eric & Kate (Woodstock, GA)
Date of Stay: 03/06/11 Review Submitted: 03/12/11

This was our second stay at the cabin and it was better than the first (actually used the fireplace this time). The cabin was spotless and well outfitted for us. The raccoon visiting to clean out the bird feeder at night was a treat, and the birds and squirrels during the day were quite entertaining. We pulled our motorcycle up on a trailer and were able to store both in the garage, along with all of the riding gear when it rained. If you don't mind being a few minutes from Pigeon Forge, this is your cabin. It is secluded and incredibly peaceful. The National Park is very close, and if you don't want to deal with the strips and the crowds, you don't have to. I would strongly recommend this for a romantic getaway. Thanks again Robert and Juletta.

What a wonderful, beautiful place the Quarleses have...and how awesome that they would share their "little piece of heaven!" We felt right at home from the moment we arrived, and were surprised to find we enjoyed the cabin more than the earlier-planned shopping venues of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. The morning visits from the squirrels and chipmunk only added to the charm.

Your cabin in the mountains served as the perfect backdrop for our Sisters' Trip. Wears Valley is our favorite place to be when we are visiting the Smoky Mountains. For us it was private enough and offered us the seclusion that we were looking for. The cabin was clean and offered every amenity that we needed. It was so peaceful and tranquil that we altered our plans in order to spend more time away from the maddening crowds of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Thank you Robert and Juletta for sharing your home. When we find the need to return to the "peaceful side of the Smokies", we hope that you will welcome us back.

This was our first visit to the Smoky Mountains and we were very fortunate to have had an amazing log cabin nestled in the mountains!!! The cabin was clean and very well appointed, my favorite was the screen porch with grill, table and hot tub, what a view. The owners Robert and Juletta were great to work with and sent a very informative packet prior to arrival which gave us lots of good ideas. I think I emailed them about 10 times with questions and always had a prompt response. We enjoyed the park, hiking, and saw a bear and mountain lion. We also took a day trip to the Biltmore Estate which was beautiful. We will return soon. We hope everyone can enjoy the cabin as much as we did.

Perfect Smokey Mt. Retreat

Date of Stay: 09/03/10 Review Submitted: 09/14/10

After 40yrs. of visiting GSMNP we have found the perfect place to stay. The cabin could not be more relaxing while keeping the spirit of the park. Owners are wonderful to work with, made the rental process very easy. You will not want for anything if you decide to cook any meals. We even used the muffin tin for fresh hot muffins on the porch one morning. Had a wonderful bike ride around Cades Cove Wednesday morning, saw 4 bears ( mother and 2 cubs) plus one other, many deer and turkey. Although the park was packed over Labor Day weekend the Homestead was very quiet. Best of both worlds close to the action but peaceful in the evenings. WE WILL RETURN.

We stayed from July 9-14 and had an amazing time. The drive up to the cabin is beautiful & the roads are well maintained. Upon arriving to the cabin we knew just from how beautifully landscaped it is that we had found a treasure. It was raining so being able to pull up to the garage and unload our belongings was a blessing. The kids were the first to go in and explore and they quickly came back to the car to let me know that the cabin was AWESOME! Robert and Julietta have put their hearts into this cabin ,the attention to detail was amazing. We felt right at home and the cabin is beautifully furnished and everything you need is there. The bedrooms were cozy & comfortable and we loved having two bathrooms. The hot tub was very relaxing and we loved the screened in porch. We loved being able to cook at the cabin and had everything we needed to do so every appliance was provided i didnt need to bring anything from home not even foil. Sheila the housekeeper does an amazing job! We had a great time just relaxing at the cabin. We took a ride into Cades Cove and saw 4 bears and had a picnic. We hiked to a waterfall off the road coming out of cades cove twice because we enjoyed it so much. We spent one evening in Gatlinburg and one evening in Pigeon Forge and had lots of fun. We spent the majority of our time at the cabin or taking hikes in the mountains, the kids love to explore and its alot easier on the wallet too. We ate at our favorite restaurants the Applebarn and The Mill and the kids love the Woodgrill Buffet. We also ordered a cake from the Cake Bishop and it was delicious & my daughter says "She has the Best cinnamon rolls on earth". The kids kept asking if we could stay longer so we did stay an extra day but we all wish it could have been longer. The kids loved the loft and we enjoyed relaxing there in the evening. We all hated to leave but we all agreed that this is the only cabin we ever want to stay in when we visit the Smokies. Thank you Robert & Julietta for giving my family precious memories that will last a lifetime and for opening you vacation home to us. The time spent at your cabin was a blessing and we will be back. Thank you so much, H&B&C

We stayed at Robert and Julettas cabin for 7 glorious nights. It was so clean and had everything you could want or need. The antiques were so neat. The surrounding landscape was so beautiful.I spent time on all three decks. My favorite part was sitting on the deck with my coffee in the morning before anyone else got up.The welcome packet we got to take to the cabin had everything we needed to know about the cabin,we did not have to wonder about anything.I loved reading the journal that all the guests write in about their experience at the cabin. The road leading up to the cabin was awesome.I would tell anyone to come stay here, they will not want to leave.Every room had something special in it.We did a lot of cooking so we got to use all of the pans and griddle. There is even a dishwasher. The raccoon came to visit us and eat the birdseed. We took a picture of him.We went to Cades cove and saw 7 bears. We had a picnic at the pavilion in the Homestead and went on some hiking trails there. We got some awesome pictures. My grand daughter enjoyed the loft where she could have some time to her self and watch some movies while us boring adults planned our next day adventures. We loved everything about this cabin and will come back.Thank you Robert and Juletta for sharing your little piece of heaven with us.Darcy and Kim,WI

After researching tons & tons of cabins online - I was blessed to find the Quarles Cabin! We wanted to take our 2 boys on a vacation to the woods in TN & this place was a homerun for them & us. From the moment we drove up we all felt 'at home' and once inside - there wasn't a thing we could want for! The cabin looks like it is brand new, the housekeeping does an awesome job & it was perfectly equipped for the many, many meals we ended up having at 'home'. The Quarles are the absolutely best people to rent from! They are very responsive to questions, go above and beyond in assisting with anything you might need and most of all - it's their 'home' too hence that welcoming feeling you'll enjoy inside! They even helped us gather enough information that we were able to get married during our visit to the area. The cabin is nestled in the woods but is within just a few minutes of the Smoky Mountains National Park and nearby to the tourist spots of Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg. Having WiFi was a bonus - we could research area attractions, etc all sitting in front of a warm fireplace. The hot tub was just the way to end busy days and listening to the brooke flow from the screen porch topped off 'relaxing' in the woods! We would never rent from anyone else and look forward to our next visit to the Quarles cabin in the woods! Start your memories with this rental and you too will posting your wonderful experience!

Simply relaxing and very peaceful. The description is accurate as described, clean and well-maintained. The owners are very helpful and available if needed. Payment method and check in/out is quick and easy. Guaranteed wildlife at the cabin 24 hours a day. Nearby trails, streams, waterfalls and look-outs. The location (Wears Valley, TN) is the place to get away. If you are looking for the tourist traps, don't stay here, go to Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg. I highly recommend The Homestead subdivision. Conveniently located for easy access to all attractions north of the Smokies. I have vacationed this area now for the past 25 years, I have to be honest by saying how hesitant I was in writing this review simply because I have found the ultimate cabin and hope that it will be available when I return.

Wonderful Mountain Cabin!

Guest: Don & Kathy (Bessemer, Al)
Date of Stay: 03/15/09 Review Submitted: 03/28/09

This cabin is great!!! Very secluded, wooded mountain area. Very quiet!!! Nicely decorated mountain theme. There are several antique pieces throughout. We spent Spring Break here and had a blast. Everything is provided even down to the birdseed! Nature abounds here! Very beautiful scenery, flowing creek in back, wooded mountain terrain. We were visited by a flock of turkeys in the morning and heard a fox one evening! This cabin is very cozy. We lacked for nothing. It was very clean and well maintained. The owners have been great... sent out good directions & suggestions on things to do in area. They even sent us an email (jokingly) warning us of the bears! When you enter the cabin, you are greeted by a stuffed bear clinging to the rafters and a sign, "WELCOME TO OUR CABIN." We are bear lovers, so this was just great!!! You can't go wrong with this cabin!

Perfect Get-Away Spot

Guest: Marietta Traveller (Marietta, GA)
Date of Stay: 03/12/09 Review Submitted: 03/16/09

We just returned from a 3-day get-away to this wonderul cabin and had a fabulous time. The house was perfect for us - spacious but cozy at the same time, spotless, all in working order, firm bed with lots of pillows, plenty of firewood, great hot tub that was easy to use, great shower, beautiful artwork and framed photographs of the area throughout, comfortable furniture in front of the fireplace, etc. This cabin is first class, a quality cabin that is well taken care of. It exceeded our expectations! From the back and side porch, we looked onto a mountain full of hardwood trees and rhododendrens, heard the rushing creek below and were entertained by the birds, squirrels and wild turkeys! We cooked every meal at the cabin and found all we needed including a cast iron skillet. I must admit, we didn't leave the cabin the whole time as it was raining (which was fine with us!) but we're already thinking about when we can go back to explore the area. The area around the cabin was stunning! I looked at hundreds of rental property websites looking for the perfect combination of interior space, exterior space, quality, location, remoteness, surrounded by nature, fireplace, internet connection, and a great price. This is it! Look no further. You won't be disappointed. p.s. - there is no cell service in this are due to the huge mountains surrounding the area. There is phone service at the cabin so you can be reached if necessary. I'd pick mountains over cell service on my vacation any day!

We went to the cabin for Valentines day weekend. It was great, even better then the pictures. When we planned our trip we were going to go out alot. But once we got to the cabin and saw it we knew we would spend alot of our time there. We would sit on the porch late at night and look at the stars. Or just sit in the hot tub and relax. This was much more then great it was perfect. By the way if you have a gps system it will not work up there. When we first went up the mountain our gps told us that we needed to turn left and we were at our destination but that was so not our cabin. So don't freak out if that happens to you just make sure you print off the map that they send to you and take it with you it will help you alot. We hope to stay there again soon. Thanks!

This is, by far, the best place to stay in the mountains – wonderful location! We were close to area attractions, but far enough away to feel secluded. This cabin is tastefully decorated, very well maintained and has everything you could possibly need or want for a relaxing vacation -- including three porches, gas grill, swing, and hot tub (we LOVED the screened porch). If you want some "peace and quiet", this is the place to visit. Our drive to the cabin was just beautiful. This was our second trip to this wonderful, secluded cabin. We enjoyed our first stay, but on this trip we really took time to enjoy the cabin and the surroundings. During our October visit, we did not need air conditioning or heat. We opened a few windows and just let the breeze flow through the cabin. We were able to just totally relax. We highly recommend this cabin, and we look forward to returning again. This place is the perfect get-away and is absolutely wondermous!! (We know... not a real word, but it sure is fitting here!!)

My wife, son, and myself rented this cabin Sept. 27, 2008 thru Sept. 29, 2008. We were not disappointed for a moment. Robert and Juletta Quarles, the owners, epitomized the meaning of good host, going above and beyond to make our stay at their cabin, and visit to the Smokies, the best possible. The cabin furnishings and decorating are superb. We were at a loss for nothing. From the beginning of their ownership they started something very unique, a cabin journal, where not only they have made entries but guest are invited to make their own. The entries are informative, humorous, and touching. A must read. We would recommend this cabin to anyone interested in enjoying themselves in the Smokies.

Wonderful first trip to the Smoky Mnts - couldn't have chosen a more perfect place to stay. Great location - secluded, yet close enough to be in the Park w/in a few minutes. The cabin was very well equipped and extremely comfortable. Wonderful owners - very helpful with suggestions to make your mountain adventure a success. Will definitely return for another visit.

We really enjoyed our vacation in the mountains. The cabin was beautifully decorated and very clean. We enjoyed having the extra space because we took our 11-month old son with us. It was great to have a full kitchen and an extra bedroom. After our son was down for the night, my husband and I enjoyed sitting on the screened in deck to play cards or just relaxing in the hot tub. The location of the cabin was amazing. We didn't realize that we would be that far up in the mountains. The views we saw as we drove in and out of the housing development were beautiful. It was an extremely peaceful and relaxing location--exactly what we needed. Several of the highlights of our trip include: biking around Cades Cove in the national park, seeing a mamma bear and three cubs while driving in the park, shopping in the arts and crafts district in Gatlinburg, eating at several great restaurants, visiting the aquarium, and taking in all the great mountain views. The cabin was about a 30 drive from Gatlinburg, but we enjoyed being away from all the busyness and people. (Gatlinburg is definitely a tourist town.) It is very close to the national park, which we enjoyed. We would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone who wants to have a relaxing vacation in the mountains.

I researched many properties before finally settling on this cabin and was extremely pleased that the description accurately matched what we experienced. This cabin is beautifully decorated, well-maintained and had everything we needed for a home away from home. We did experience an issue with the hot tub (turned out it was our inexperience with hot tubs and really not an issue at all) and the upstairs TV, but we were able to easily contact the owners and they resolved the issues quickly. My family and I have visited the Smokies many times before and love the area. We did what we usually do when visiting, which is shopping and touring Gatlinburg, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Cherokee, NC. We happened to stumble upon The Mountain Farm Museum, which is an open-air exhibit of historic farm buildings at the Oconaluftee Visitor Center near Cherokee. This pioneer farmstead was a real treat to explore and we would highly recommend it to anyone who visits the area. We love to hike and there are some beautiful trails in the the area, but the weather was just too hot. So, when we weren't out searching for air conditioned sites to explore, we stayed at the cabin and relished the quiet and peaceful surroundings. I especially enjoyed watching the squirrels each morning as they scurried up and down the bird feeder and across the railings on the deck. This cabin was perfect and we would recommend it to any of our friends. We look forward to returning and hope that the weather will be nice enough for us to hike and explore more of the area around the cabin.

Great choice!

Two couples shared this lovely cabin for 4 days with never a complaint except for having to leave so soon. There was plenty of room for together time of meals and games, and yet enough room that someone could go off in a quiet corner to read, nap, or just look at the scenery. The proximity to the park, Townsend, and Pigeon Forge was far enough off the beaten path to feel like we were on vacation, but close enough that we didn't feel getting anywhere was a chore. Be prepared for the steep streets; you'll get used to it. :) There isn't cell phone service, but no other service, appliance, or comfort is missing. You'll be glad you chose this home.

Quiet vacation

The cabin was located in a very quiet area, you do have to like to drive the mountains because it is up towards the top, but worth the drive. The hot tub was a welcome feature after a day of walking, sightseeing and hiking. The loft was great for the kids and the upstairs bedroom got a we love it screech out of the 12 year old girls. If you like the Gaitlinburg/Smokies area, but want to get away from it all, this cabin is a great place for that. There is lots to see!

We were lucky enough to spend a long weekend at the Quarles' beautiful cabin recently. We had a great time both in the cabin and at the surrounding attractions. The hot tub was a great start and end to a day and not too bad in the middle either. We highly recommend this cabin to any couples or families looking for a peaceful relaxing time in the mountains of Tennessee.

This was our first time ever in TN. We dreamed about renting a log cabin in the mountains far away from the noisy town. And our dreams came true! We will definitely be back soon!

We had a super enjoyable and relaxing stay at the cabin. The short cut to the National Park Made it very convenient. The screened in porch actually made it possible to spend a great deal of time on the deck without having to worry about the bugs. We can't wait to return.

We rented your cabin this past weekend and just loved it. You have a beautiful cabin with everything anyone would need for a great vacation. The screened in porch was a great addition. It rained most of the weekend but no one mined. We just relaxed on the back porch and watched. Thanks again for the use of the cabin and being so responsive to my request
