We had a wonderful stay at Abundance! When we first arrived, Ben the Dog was immediately in heaven. Then on top of that he saw all the dog toys and felt we picked the place just for him (which we sort of did indeed). He was so happy running after sticks by the river after the drive. Baby Maya was happy in the little room with the two beds and she slept pretty well all night. We put a blanket on the window as she is too small for the eye mask! She enjoyed playing in front of the fire place with all her toys, sleeping in the lounge. My wife loved it too and wanted to stay another night, which I would love too but it was better we had an extra day in houston for Maya so she could get back to her normal habits. The 2 other guests were my parents visiting from France and they were totally impressed by the beauty, comfort and perfectness of Sundance. Every time we were thinking of something we needed, we found it. They slept in the master bedroom downstairs. I really loved it too. It was actually better in reality than on the pictures as all rooms were fitting even better than I thought together. I loved the Den and the walls made of logs with that cold weather. Hearing the rain falling on the roof is one of my pleasure in life reminding me of winter rain in the country house of my childhood. Seeing the trees and starts through the 2 windows of the Lilly's room was a bit like sleeping under the stars…. without the cold or rain on your face. It all reminded me of a house out of a Grimm's tale (dancing bears paintings + deco in the room in which Maya was sleeping). I also had fun trying to count how many acorn shapes were hidden in the house! I forgot to mention that I also really appreciated the Kitchen: beautiful and functional (I like cooking because I like food). You even had a non stick pan in which I could do pancakes! Having seen the master bedroom, we are going to have to come back to try it! We will probably be only 3 by then but we may have to indulge ourselves with sundance even if it is a bit decadent for 3 people… so the imaginary world in my soul can come to life again.

A Memorable 60th Celebration!

I celebrated my 60th birthday at the Sundance Lodge with six of my friends and it was an incredible experience. We grilled, we cooked, we ate, we drank, we shopped, we relaxed.....all while we were surrounded by the tranquility of nature's beauty. We loved feeding the multitude of deer & birds and sitting out on the deck on the big red rocking chairs that overlooked the creek. So peaceful in the mornings with a great cup of coffee! Sundance Lodge is well maintained and clean and it's within walking distance to the center of town. Will be back and HIGHLY RECOMMEND to anyone!

WOW! Not one stone was left uncovered. The hostesses had made our Sundance experience so memorable They took care of everything and made our stay the highlight of Wimberly for us. We didn't want to leave the red rocking chairs on the back porch.

Sundance Lodge could not have been more perfect! Spacious and cozy, the accommodations were luxurious--but with wonderful touches of whimsy and humor everywhere. We sat on the back deck and watched the deer feed at twilight and ate wonderful meals at the table for ten. After several months of stressful living, "Abundance" was just what I needed: I felt the peace from the moment I stepped on the grounds. Thank you for maintaining a beautiful, comfortable retreat. I can't wait to return.

"Chick Camp 2012" Review

Eight female family members (chicks), ranging in age from 40-something to 70-something, gather once a year for a weekend together. We look for a place where we can find comfort, visit with one another, enjoy some nature and shop - no small order! Abundance and the Sundance property delivered everything we could want! The space, particularly the indoor great room, comfortable sleeping arrangements, outdoor porches and rocking chairs provided the perfect haven. Everything, truly any amenity we could think of or need was available and easy to find, from wine glasses, champagne flutes, coffee, even sunscreen, flashlights and bugspray for our evening wanderings down to the crystal clear creek were provided. We also enjoyed feeding and watching the birds and deer each day in their natural habitat. Beyond the warm and hospitable surroundings of the property, we so enjoyed experiencing Wimberley - a picturesque, Texas hillcountry town with charm for days, wonderful shopping, people and great food. Our purchases included glass works, silver, pottery, beautiful mesquite wood art and more. We took in lunch at INO'Z, a yummy and very scenic lunch spot (biggest trees on the river you may have ever seen), and picked up pizza from Brewster's to eat in another evening, as we didn't want to leave our haven at Abundance! I shared in a note we left owners Tina and Shellye, the Chicks would have loved to 'roost' at Sundance forever! We left with nothing but an abundance of compliments and fond memories of our trip to Abundance, Sundance and Wimberley. And we felt the welcome of Tina, Shellye and their furry family from the moment we arrived. You can sense their appreciation of life and nature in the home away from home they have created. If they continue to offer this retreat to others (I'd keep it to myself!), I'd encourage anyone - groups of friends, families or couples - to take advantage of this wonderful place in the heart of Texas.

Amazing Abundance Retreat!

We have stayed at Abundance Retreat every year for the past several years in the summer. Every year we look forward to our stay. My daughter refers to Abundance as "the place where nature lives." It's a place where I go and feel so at peace and so calm sitting on the deck in a rocking chair in the morning watching the deer just a few feet away. Thank you, Abundance Retreat! :)

WE FOUND THAT EVERYTHING ABUNDANCE RETREAT SHOWED IN THEIR PICTURES AND DESCRIPTIONS OF THE PROPERTY ARE REALLY ACCURATE. THE ACCOMMODATIONS WERE WONDERFUL, IT WAS IMMACULATELY CLEAN AND ALL OF THE WILDLIFE APPEARED FOR OUR ENTERTAINMENT. OUR GROUP HAS GONE TO MANY PLACES OVER THE LAST 26+ YEARS AND THIS IS OUR ALL TIME FAVORITE. WE ARE ALREADY PLANNING OUR RETURN TRIP..TINA AND SHELLEYE MAKE SURE EVER DETAIL IS PERFECTION.

New Year's Eve weekend

My husband and I went there to get away from Houston for New Years eve weekend, this was the best place to be for us. Sundance is beautifully decorated and spacious. The bed was wonderful to sleep on, all my problems just melted away. The weekend had good weather, lots of sunshine; we sat outside on the porch in our pj's on the rockers. Peace and quite is what we wanted, and that's what we got. Thanks, we'll pass the word about this place.

Amazing comfort and relaxing location!

For Christmas, we decided to forgo the usual 'hosting' of the holidays and instead, we stayed at Sundance and the entire family came down. We had a wonderful time and ended up extending our stay an extra day, it was so relaxing. It was more like staying at a friends house than an impersonal hotel. Something happens when you go here - all the stress of the week just disappears! The owners are very friendly, answered all my questions and were very accommodating to our needs. Sundance is about a 5 minute drive from downtown Wimberley, but you really wouldn't know it. The lot has a lot of trees and backs up to the beautiful river, where chairs beckon. The owners have thought of everything! There are flashlights, bird food and feeders (and wonderful cardinals who visit them), dog bowls, all kitchen needs and of course all the normal household/B&B items, nicely labeled so you don't have to do searching for everything! We will definitely go back!

Perfect Weekend

Staying in the Sundance home was an absolute incredible weekend for my family. The great room is beautiful with the sunlight coming through the windows. THe back decking with all of the rocking chairs was perfect for morning coffee and late afternoon snacks. Both nights we had candlelight dinners on the table out on the decking under the stars which was fabulous. The house is very well stocked with everything that you need and personal items that you may forget. THe owners were great to work with and made it a wonderful weekend for all. The creek was not flowing, but if your from Texas you know that we have not had rain! I was amazed that there was water in the creek. We definitely will return and bring more family and stay in both houses. Thank you so much for allowing us to bring our loving 4 legged family as well. We totally enjoyed being able to have them with us and they loved seeing all of the wildlife. Look forward to our next trip to Wimberly!

My brothers and sisters and I wanted to get away for an adult vacation and we found the perfect place at Sundance Lodge in Wimberley, Texas. Our favorite past time was sitting on the huge deck overlooking the lush trees and creek plus watching the many deer and birds that came to feast on feed that we put out. Feed was gratiously provided by the owners. We must have identified about 10 different types of bird species flying around. Grilling was also in order and it was great grilling our steaks among the beautiful surroundings. In addition, the beds were oh so comfy. All the amenities are first class. Shopping in the quaint town of Wimberley is sooooo very close. It's within walking distance and we loved the fact that some restaurants are dog friendly. I would highly recommend the Abundance Retreat/Sundance Lodge located in Wimberley, Texas. We want to make this a yearly grownup getaway.

Great girl's getaway!

I just returned from a reunion with 10 college friends at Abundance. We rented both Sundance and Moondance Cabin and had the whole property to ourselves. The property is just so beautiful and the accommodations were wonderful. Both residences were warm, inviting, and comfortable. It's apparent that the owners put so much thought and heart into the decor and equipping the spaces with every possible convenience. The spacious great room and inviting deck made it difficult to leave. The owners responded promptly to every inquiry and made the booking process easy and enjoyable. They provided a ton of information about the Wimberley area and excellent directions from all directions to the property. Would definitely return to this property. Great Reunion spot!

We absolutely LOVED LOVED LOVED Abundance!! I'd love to go down w my kids (they are grown) someday for family reunion. We will be back for sure. IT was just perfect. Your decor was lovely too--not too fussy. Very country elegant. Plus some fun and funk. Well, again all wonderful. I may come with the boyfriend and stay in Moondance soon. It's all too cool.

My rental was for 11 days: some alone,some with my wife and with weekend guests. Sundance works beautifully for all scenarios even though it's a bit expensive for alone time. The deer, fish , squirrels, raccoons, birds and humans live a harmonious life on the property. Inside was immaculate, with carpet and tile in the appropriate locations. We enjoyed the location on the creek and a short walk into the town square. It worked perfectly for my cycling events: the Livestrong ride from Dripping Springs to Wimberley and back. And the Tour de Gruene. We will return and I have already recommended Sundance.

It was absolutely wonderful! The setting, houses, sleeping arrangements, and attention to detail exceeded our expectations. We could have spent a week and still not taken everything in. We've stayed at many lodges, casitas and resorts over the years, and unaminously everyone was impressed with how truly Abundant it was. Exceptional use of the label maker! Jo Anne said when she gets alzheimers, she wants to come live there. The reading materials, games, animal calls, flashlights; fantastic number of seats, chairs, sofas, tables - we never even turned on the t.v. The fireflys even put on a show for us in the evenings. It was even an ideal drive from our houses in Katy & Fulsher as well as College Station, too. The newly paved road is quite nice, by the way. Emily's vying for an encore.

This was my third visit to Abundance and each visit is better than the last. The house would be a joy to stay in were it sitting in a desolate desert, but in such a beautiful environment it is perfect. I love sitting on the massive porch in the morning looking at the many different birds that visit the feeders. The owners provide everything for the birdwatcher, seed, manuals, even binoculars! I have stayed at many places reserved through vrbo and this is the only one I took the time to write about. I cannot say enough good things.

We had an ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL time - it was just too short! We found the cabin surprisingly well stocked and organized - clearly care and thought went into preparing it for guests. We had a darling little surprise guest ourselves Friday night - a cute raccoon was determined to get into the "doll" bedroom - we all had to run upstairs to watch him scratch on the window.

Words cannot explain how we enjoyed our stay at ABUNDANCE! WOW! I hope that I will get to stay there again! It sure felt like home and I believe that the bed and pillows in the "Sunrise" room were better than my own at home! I fed Cisco and he is as cute as ever...Cisco brought a ginger colored friend to dinner! It was a real delight! Thank-You! I am ready to come back!

We had a great time. The beds were very comfortable and we all slept great. Kitchen was well stocked and your plates are really cute. We brought games and loved the games you had there also. My 17 year old daughter stayed in the room upstairs with the queeen bed and she commented " you can really tell that they take a lot of pride in making all the details nice" I thought it was cool she noticed that.

It was wonderful! Beautiful & restful. Christmas decorations were nicely done.Spent a lot of time enjoying sitting by the stream. We definitely want to come back when we can swim. The cabin was great for our small family. My daughter REALLY liked the cat and the deer. Thank you for a wonderful week.

The entire wedding week was incredible! And having your 2 cabins really helped make it that way. The weather was beyond belief & the girl's Bee Party on Saturday was all out on the deck & tons of fun. I have never had more fun in my life! Thank yiou both for sharing your warm, welcoming home. Hope to at least visit Wimberley annually.

Your place is beautiful and just what we needed even though it rained for almost two days. I had forgotten the smell of the cedar after the rains in the hill country. It's a great place you have. We needed it! It reviived us!

We had a really great stay at the cabin. You have a wonderful spot there. Right in town yet secluded enough to feel we were away from it all. A real abundance of wildlife also. The ducks came to visit several times. We saw almost a dozen deer each evening. There is quite an assortment of bird-life also. A variety of squirrels and that lone bob-white quail. We loved the cabin, it's great decor and atmosphere, and we have mentioned Abundance Retreat to many friends already. We hope to make a trip there again soon.

We had the most amazing time to relax and unwind, to take in the beautiful sights of Abundance and Wimberley. It is so quiet and tranquil we didn’t want to leave. We loved watching the beautiful deer and birds.

We’ve had a truly wonderful couple of days – a true escape from Htown! Our only wish is that we could stay longer – 2 nights wasn’t long enough! To wake up surrounded by nature reminded us how important it is to just get away and enjoy each other’s company without TV, internet, or communication with the outside world (by choice).

I wanted to say THANK YOU for such a wonderful weekend. Our entire family had such an incredible time together and really appreciated everything you all did to make it such a memorable weekend... Your attention to detail and organization is fabulous and really made the weekend relaxing and restful (plus my mother was thrilled with all the labels- i think you even out did how much she labels, if that is possible!). The local information, the welcome notes and amenities on the bed, the details - the details - you are so creative!!! We certainly look forward to coming back soon and hopefully even having the opportunity to rent the other cabin with some friends or more family. As well, I will be sure to recommend to all of our friends & family! PS - I really LOVED the "scary fluorescent light" label - hahaha! :)
