Feel like you are in the mountains out West but you are really on beautiful Lake Williamstown in this rustic, yet functional cabin that sits among the tree tops. The cottage is on a quiet gravel road providing a great setting for morning or evening walks while often catching glimpses of deer, turkey and fox.
Williamstown lake will surprise with its size and offers 350 surface acres of water with 32 miles of shoreline and has been named 'KY's Cleanest lake.' Truly this is not a tiny lake, plenty of room to boat and swim.
You will love the comfort of the cabin accents with antiques and practical furniture. We provide a fully equipped kitchen, with everything you need, from a coffee maker, blender, to gas grill.
The deck, with a large picnic table, and sitting chairs, stays shaded well into the evening but the dock provides plenty of sun for those working on their tan. There is a view of the water from all points on the deck.
The water is less than 60 feet from the deck, with very manageable steps. We provide your own Dock to enjoy - it is private. There is swimming right off the dock with ladder for easy access to and from the water. The public boat ramp is conveniently less than 2 minutes from the cabin. Pontoon, misc. boats, and boat slips are all rental available at several nearby Marinas (Ruby's and Williamstown Marina).
We can provide a row boat, canoe, life vests and cushions for those of us that enjoy a quieter and moderate pace.
Also, there is a fire ring with benches outside (with some fire wood available). For those cool off-season evenings,we have a gas burning fireplace in the cabin.
Just 10 minutes from town, are restaurants, shopping, hiking trails, Fri and Sat night concerts, skateboard park, and many other attractions. For more to do in the area look at our sites on Location Map and visit the Grant County tourism website.
Or, just relax in the cabin, and enjoy the quiet and serene setting of lake and woods. This Cottage has been restored and practically updated to enjoy the sense, feel and serene nature of the lake area while not sacrificing basic amenities that makes our stay both refreshing and rejuvenating.
This is a four room cottage with 2 Bedrooms, Bathroom and a Kitchen, Dining and Living room area that makes the place cozy and rustic. Between the woodwork and the sitting areas, there is plenty of down time, if needed, that can be provided within the cottage.
People have nicknamed the place, 'Sunset Cabin,' for the perfectly situated cottage that views the beautiful Kentucky sunsets. Several of our guests have kindly forwarded pictures that they have taken (on this website) and shared their experiences in our guest book. From touring, to fishing to just relaxing this place really provides a great leisure and respite.

We really enjoyed our stay at the lakefront property. The weather was beautiful, and the surrroundings made it so relaxing. The evening was cooler, enabling us to build a fire to roast marshmallows. The cabin was nice, and all was so comfortable. Thanks again!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

This is a very comfortable and quaint place to come with family or friends. The house is charming with it's woodsy theme and outdoor feel. The view from inside through the wall of windows and from the beautiful wrap around deck is glorious. The property management is so friendly and efficient and the house has all the comforts of home! This is the second time my friends and I have met there for a relaxing and enjoyable weekend. I highly recommend !Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Organized a ladies' weekend at Oak Harbor to attend the Paddle Williamstown event with our kayaks! What a fabulous stay! Captain Dave is a gracious host and made sure we felt right at home. The grounds are beautiful and the location in the back cove is so serene. The double-decker dock is an awesome place to sit and enjoy some laughs with your friends. We will definitely be back! Thanks Capt. Dave!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

We recently stayed at a lovely cottage in the woods, by the lake - Lake Williamstown. The cottage was so nice it was done in a "little cabin in the woods" motif. There were Bears, Pine Trees, and Cozy little items scattered throughout the cottage. We felt more like houseguests than renters. Our owners included everything we could want. We swam, skiied and tubed all day and at night we watched the Olympics, which was a great complement to our big, full day. Thanks so much for making this available to us. Our stay was August 5 through August 10, 2012,Recommended for: Tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: That is awesome !!! August and Autumn is a great time to come - lake is generally empty and it is so fun here. And thanks, you are our guests all the time. BEST, Sunset Cottage

property was clean and very pleasent. bad was info on food- lion king gone, marina's inpossible to contact. information gave impresion rental of jet skies not true. if not for Janie we would not have been able to contact marina for pontoon rental.Owner response: Thanks for emphasizing the pleasant and nice cottage. Yes, unfortunate Food Lion just closed. But there is Bruce's General Store, Kroger, Wal-Mart, and others nearby. Concerning the marinas / boat stores in the vicinity, I have to emphasize to folks coming web-search and call ahead of time - it is true that these rental places may change the types of boats / skis they rent, can have odd hours of operation in early season and could be difficult to reach. And, Janie is exceptionally helpful of course.

We stayed here for my girlfriend's 40th birthday party and absolutely loved it. Less than an hour drive from Cincinnati and close to I-75. This little cabin was a gem...very clean, just the right size for our party of 6 people and all the amenities were provided. All we had to do was show up! I have been to Norris Lake in Tennessee multiple times, but had never heard of Williamstown Lake. I was pleasantly surprised to find such a nice lake so close to Cincinnati. We will definitely be back and look forward to staying here again!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.
Owner response: We love it when people are having so much fun and keep visiting.

We had a great time, house very clean & comfortable. Alot of steps, not for elderly. Only thing I saw, could use some kind of railings on the steps to the lake. But other than that, very nice. Might go back next year. Would recommend to friends and familyRecommended for: Families with teenagers.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2005
About the owner: The cottage transferred ownership recently from another family that has been going to the lake for well over 40 years. She, along with her siblings always would visit her grandparents on the lake. Now all these people and their respective families continue to come and stay at Williamstown Lake. They love the seasons there, the water and the natural scenery that accompanies the Lake environment.
Why the Owner Chose Williamstown:
We looked high and low, east and west for a nice lake. A place where you could enjoy the surroundings, the water and a really nice cozy place to rest at the cottage.
And location was a huge bonus after researching the lakes within an hour of Lexington, Louisville and Cincinnati, it made sense to choose Williamstown.
Still close to all the big-city activities, yet quiet, wooded and still having the charm and enjoyment associated with a lake vacation.
The Lake is Very clean (it is used as a reservoir), plenty of fish - with a famous tournament, plenty of wildlife in the area, that really rejuvenates the 'batteries' and provides the much needed rest and fun that we just never make the time to enjoy in our otherwise busy lives.
The Cottage is very accessible and has all the amenities. In addition, the Oka's took the time to restore the cabin to an updated, comfortable and charming place to rest while continuing the rustic feel that a lakeside cottage should have.
This particular cove on the lake has a unique vantage point for sunsets. Also, the dock area is easily accessible and a safe place to swim.
And it is in a quiet location on this lake with plenty of tree tops overhead to shade and is great.
Cottage great to hole up in ... or ...
Easy access to the dock and water!
