Barnacle on Bucks Harbor

The Barnacle is a beautifully restored 1940s barn, transformed in to a seaside showplace. Resting only 35 feet from the harbor, it captures impressive views from throughout the interior of the home, as well as from the expansive deck running along the entire waterside of the home. A wide array of seafaring vessels makes use of this protected harbor, offering a tranquil yet ever changing view. The home has been restored top to bottom. The interior is bright, comfortable and decorated in nautical style with a splash of antiques and family heirlooms. Cathedral ceilings give a spacious feel, as does the open floor plan for living room, dining area, library and kitchen. The kitchen is fully stocked and ready to host a lobster bake for 30 on the beach or a quaint cocktail party on the deck. There are huge windows displaying the beauty of the harbor, along with pine floors, Kraft-maid cabinets and all major appliances (except no dishwasher). A beautiful gas fireplace was added in 2006. The laundry room is also on the main level. Four delightful bedrooms are upstairs. Each room has a different size bed: a king, a queen, a double and a twin. It can sleep 7 upstairs and one of the downstairs couches pulls out to a double. Back outside, there is a staircase that leads down to a private beach, and personal mooring for those bringing or renting a boat. Nestled at the center of Bucks Harbor, its private situation belies the fact that it is just down the street from the Bucks Harbor Market & Marina, which offers organic veggies from the local growers, a huge variety of wines & cheeses, a pizza parlor, ice cream and a wonderful restaurant and marina area. There are weekly markets, too. Bucks Harbor Yacht Club is also within walking distance, and offers movie nights, square dancing, Saturday teas after the races, ping pong, tether ball and tennis. This quiet and peaceful area offers a nice smattering of activities to keep things both relaxing and interesting.
