Big Yella, as the owners children lovingly call the home, is a former village Inn. It is spacious, with many rooms, and still has the inn keepers separate apartment. The main portion of the home accommodates 10, with apartment offering semi-separate quarters for 2 additional guests. Together, the home comfortably accommodates parties of 12. The multiple rooms are great for spreading out, but also large enough for all to gather. The dining room has large table to seat 10, as well as separate living room and family room/game room. There are five bedrooms in the main portion of the home (Br 1: queen, Br 2: 2 twins, Br 3: bunk bed, twin, Br 4: 2 twins, Br 5: 1 twin; Apartment: 1 Br: queen). The home still retains the old charm of yesteryear, with original window woodwork. Updates insure a comfortable stay. Outside, the home rest in a beautiful setting, up on a grassy hillside, with elevated views over Northwest Harbor and the charming village of Deer Isle. There is an open deck, screened porch, and lush lawns from which to enjoy this peaceful setting. A short walk along the path from the backside of the cottage takes you to Lily Pond, a mile-long, pristine lake, perfect for swimming in its warmer waters. Or step across the street from the home down to the tidal shorefront, for a bit of exploring the shoreline for shells, rocks and driftwood. Walk directly in to the village for dining or shopping, most especially for an ice cream cone! Big Yella is a wonderful home, affordably priced and perfectly located to enjoy both ocean and fresh water fun, in a sweet village setting.
