We wanted a place to bring my daughter and her friends to Celebrate my daughters sweet 16. We were lucky enough to come across this beautiful home that was very well maintained and offered everything we were looking for. The girls had a great time shopping near by, playing pool and listening to music, and although we went in February and it was chilly, they still enjoyed walking on the beach. We rented scary movies and they got to scream out loud without bothering anyone. I want to thank Hans and his family for letting us rent it for just the weekend, I had real problems finding a place that would rent from a friday through sunday. We loved our stay at the Sea-Esta and look forward to coming again.

We came to the Outer Banks off-season for a family event. We loved it so much that we just booked a prime week! The owner has been excellent to work with. There's no question he won't answer for us, and he made sure every aspect of the home met our expectations. It was spacious, clean, comfortable, and very close to everything! The Sea-Esta guidebook that Hans emailed to us told us everything we needed to bring, the house ammenites, all about the area, and things to do. Thanks again & can't wait for our summer vacation!!

Wanted to love it, but.....

We were a 3 generation family that came together for vacation. Our group included a set of grandparents, my husband and I , and our 3 children. Pros : Location to attractions, restaraunts, shopping, and the beach (be warned however, that the beach road you have to cross can be quite busy at times), pool (this is also a con, keep reading)hot tub, and space. Cons: Bad: Notice there are no pictures of the bathrooms. These are budget hotel sized baths, with small, very small, bath tubs. The "jacuzzi tub" in the queen master suite is also very tiny, not soaking tub size. And worse, after folding myself up a bit to fit, I turned on the jets, and black mold came out. The egyptian cotten towels are thin basic towels, not 'thirsty" towels. Worse: Moving on to beds . My parents slept in the king size bed. The matress is so old it has the two impressions in it, also the sheets were basic the comforter quite thin. Moving on to the "queen". When we layed down to go to sleep with our infant between us, we noticed that the bed was not quite as roomy as our queen back home. My father actually got out a tape measure and measured the beds, the 3 queens are actually 3 fulls. Yes there is a difference. Also same basic sheets, thin comforters, and hard matresses. THE WORST: Beware of the pool man. He came out Tuesday for mid week maintenance. I asked if I needed to pull the kids from the pool, and he assured us there would be no problem, keep using the pool. 30 minutes after he left, my son, who is a quite tough 11 year old, came out of the pool rubbing his eyes and face crying. The pool guy had used way too much chlorine. Luckily, I knew the proper procedures to flush out eyes, but the rest of his day was quite ruined because he was sore and miserable. It took us 24 hours to flush out enough chlorine from the pool with a water hose to safely use it. One other minor con is the video library. It consists of 3 movies, 2 work out dvds, and Second Hand Lions, which is great, but all the box had was the bonus disc, no movie. And bring your own toilet paper. Unlike other vacation rentals we have been associated with, this is not provided. In conclusion, I felt there was definite false advertising going on, especially in regards to bed size. A good value for off season, would go somewhere else in on season. Buyer Beware.....

We had a wonderful time while staying at the Sea-Esta. It was easy to locate and close to lots of restaurants and beach shops.The house was clean. Loved having an extra frig on first floor to grab drinks before heading to the beach . Kitchen is well equipped-even had a lg pot for steaming the blue crabs we had caught {on Colington road 10 min drive }. Beach access is a 5 min. walk. Pool and hot tub are well maintained.Nearby Jockeys Ridge State Park is a great place to fly kites .Drove 45 min. north to Currituck Beach and took Bills wild horse tour { highly recommend} .Hans was very efficient handling emails/contract/questions etc. You might want to bring your own towels as there are only two per room .

We had the pleasure of staying at this home the 3rd week of July 2011. It is a beautiful home conveniently located within a block from the beach. We loved where the bedrooms were situated as it allowed us adults to continue on with our relaxing evening while our children were asleep. We also loved the pool and hot tub that were immaculate! The bed was extremely comfortable. The mattress and sheets were of high quality and we could not get over how comfortable it was! I love to cook and having small children we ate in often. We felt the kitchen was wonderfully equipped with everything we needed! The bathrooms were spotless and had the refreshing odor that they had just been scrubbed. We are planning on definately staying here again.

Wow! And we are definitely coming back! The house is beautiful, and has all of the ammenities you would want or need in a vacation home. Thanks, Hans, for taking great care in our reservations and going the extra mile to make sure everything was in top shape for our arrival. We felt like family! The kids loved the pool table, the pool, the hot tub, surround sound, and the basketball hoop. Of course, the grown-ups loved these things too! Excellent location. BBQ grill small for (8) peoples food. AC worked well except for the middle floor south bedrooms (they would have benefited from having ceiling fans in those rooms). Layout of the house was superior. Fit all the group needs (the road bike couple used the 1st floor room and just parked their bikes near the pool table) and it was great to have the sun shade umbrella and the trolly to carry the chairs and things down to he beach. Non-reflective of the property or location, we were the only group that played Frisbee on the beach......... we believe we found a deficiency in the education of Americas youth.

Owner response:Perplexed about the comment on the AC. With no other complaints for the entire summer season, wondering if the wrong controller was being used to set the temperature. There are two AC controllers in the house.

Fabulous Time In OBX

Excellent location and clean house near the beach (less than 10min walk, door to ocean water). Decent views of ocean from both balconies, and the kids loved the heated pool. Ocean water was cold in early June, so the heated pool was great for the kids. We were close to shops and restaurants (at milepost 9), so right in the middle of activities, but the street was quiet. Enjoyed ourselves at the beach, pool, NC Aquarium, Town of Manteo (great little town and festival park), and sightseeing drives to Corolla and Rodanthe, along with outlet shopping and seafood restaurants. Would definitely recommend to family and friends.

Had a nice stay during the end of May! Had several problems with leaky dishwasher, vcr not working, the lock on the outer door locked us out (batteries died), and there was a bird in a vent over one of the bathrooms. All of these were not a big deal and quickly taken care of . Other than those issues our stay was exactly how it was advertised. Plenty to do in the area-bike rentals, crabbing, fishing, Wright Brothers Museum, hang gliding, dolphin watching (we saw them almost everyday). The pool was great and Jeanette's Pier is a must see! Most days were spent at the beach and perfect for relaxing. Plenty of restaurants and ice cream shops. Everyone had a great time and looking forward going back some day!

Owner response:Yes, we were on the phone to immediately contact service. They found a birds nest in the vent near the roof! Our handyman could not replicate the dishwasher leak, but we've since replaced the unit as a safeguard. The VCR/DVD player controls get changed around as it is not the most user friendly. The unit is gone! The keyless door entry lock was corroded due to salty air, so we replace the entire unit. Great guests like Phil call us immediately if there is any issue. Helps their experience, as well as it keeps the home in top shape!

The house was excellent for both the adults and nicely equipped for small children. The pool and jacuzzi were great. Its location is excellent for all OuterBanks activities, from the Wrights Brothers Monument, to Jockey Ridge State Park, to Roanoke Island, to Cape Hatteras as well as the excellent fishing opportunities both inshore and offshore.

Loved everything about the house! We had 5 adults and 2 children and had more than enough of our own space! The pool was perfect! The added bonus of the Keurig coffee maker was even better! We had brought ours from home so we had one of the bottom level and one in the kitchen on the top level. The assortment of games and books for kids (and adults) of all ages was great. Loved sitting out on the deck at night and listening to the ocean. The Sea- Esta is within walking distance to numerous restaurants also!

LOVED everything about the house! It was incredibly comfortable for 5 adults and 4 children. The board games, toys, and books for all different ages were wonderful! Our view was amazing and we were close to everything! My family and my in-laws loved it so much that we have just emailed Hans again for another stay in October. Hans checked in with us right after we arrived to make sure that everything was good! Thank you! The keurig coffee maker was a pleasant surprise! Sea-Esta was a great choice for our family in April 2011. This house has everything that you need for a great vacation. It was clean, well maintained, spacious, comfortable and very well equipped. We only had our family of four staying, but you could easily have two families there and not feel cramped at all. The location is excellent with easy beach access as short walk away, and is centrally located to many of the attractions on the Outer Banks as well as restaurants, mini golf etc. The pool and hot tub were great and we loved the pool table in the basement. Hans was easy to work with and responded very quickly to any correspondence. We would absolutely recommend this property to others. We had a wondeful week and our only disappointment was having to leave!

My family really enjoyed our stay at Sea-Esta! The living room/kitchen combo was so perfect for relaxing, cooking and cooling off from the sun. We loved having the pool available when we needed a "break" from beach time, and the location was fabulous. A quick 5 min. walk and we were at the beach...yet we didn't have the beach traffic and noise to contend with. Everything was very comfortable and I highly recommend Sea-Esta for any family visiting the Kitty Hawk/Kill Devil Hills area.

We had an amazing May 2009 stay at the Sea Esta -- our days were filled with swimming, going to the beach, exploring the sites, kicking back at your fabulous house (my boys loved the bathroom in the sky!), shopping, visiting the farmers markets, picking (and eating) strawberries. Robin, This was our first vacation to the Outer Banks and it was fabulous. The Sea-Esta handbook was helpful and very informative. The location of your house was very convenient to the beach and the views were awesome from the 2 decks. The house was nicely appointed with enough bedrooms and baths to accomodate our 2 families. The pool table was a big hit with the kids, so much so that the adults didn't even get a chance to play! The pool and hot tub were wonderful to come back to after a day at the beach. We can't wait to go back! Thank you for sharing your home with us, it was a perfect beach vacation!

What a great beach rental. Robin was great to work with to get a last minute rental and the house was also wonderful. The location on a quiet street is perfect and it is just a short walk to the beach. I have been renting houses in the area for about 20 years and this was one of the most comfortable. The house is perfect for sleepingas it is in a quiet area and does not creak when the wind blows. It is also very well equipped and the wireless internet service was a big help when you have to work a bit on vacation. The views of the ocean are great from the upstairs and the kitchen/great room combo was wonderful for the family. The kids loved the heated pool and hot tub so much they really did not want to go to the beach very much. There are alot of stairs but hey are great exercise and we have no complaints about them. We look forward to returning to Sea-Esta on our next visit to the beach.

What can I say? This house was perfect. We went to the Outer Banks for two weeks and everything was wonderful. The house is beautiful and felt like home. The decks are great to watch the sunrises and sunsets, the pool and hot tub were great! The location of the house is perfect - close to everything but yet on a quiet street (unlike beach road). The surround sound and pool table were wonderful extras! Hans and Robin did a great job answering all our questions and checking in to see if we needed anything. What wonderful hosts! We had such a good time, we are already reserving our time for next year. Thanks to Hans and Robin - it was a pleasure working with you. It really made us feel as if we were staying at friends. The Sea-Esta was everything we were hoping for in our vacation home this summer at the OBX! We have stayed further south in Nags Head in the past and much enjoyed the location of the Sea-Esta in the Kill Devil Hills area as it was very convenient to everything. Hans was terrific in answering our initial questions when we were considering the Sea-Esta. Robin was very responsive and extremely helpful with details about the house and the area. The house was super with wonderful sleeping accommodations, entertainment pluses (pool table, surround sound, and TV's everywhere), and a fabulous living room/kitchen/dining area. The swimming pool was a real hit (mom spent half the week there, ha), especially with the hot week we chose. Who needs an elevator?....the stairs were good exercise and the little mutt loved checking the activity status on each floor. The location of the beach house was great because it was close to the beach, close to Jockey’s Ridge, close to the YMCA, and close to some neat beach stores. The things that my little sisters liked best were the hot tub, the pool, and their own TV in their room. My brother and I liked the pool table, stairs, hot tub, and the TV in our room. We flew the airplane kite that we found in the closet. My big sisters liked the internet service and used the YMCA with Mom almost every day. My oldest sister has a new camera, and so she took pictures everywhere. Dad liked the King-size bed and the coffee maker and the view of the beach. Mom liked the well-stocked kitchen, comfy furniture, and sitting out by the pool while we swam. We will have lots of fond memories of the Sea-Esta! Thanks for letting us come. Thank you for your quick response and help in getting a house at the last minute. The house was very clean and up to date. We added some wine glasses so hopefully they will come in handy for those enjoying the beautiful sunsets over the sound!

Dear Mr. Kraeger, Our first trip to the Outer Banks was great! This house was absolutely lovely---everything so beautifully decorated, clean and well kept. The location was a short walk to the beach and wonderfully close to dozens of restaurants and activities. The pool and hot tub were fantastic and made for a very relaxing stay. Our English Bulldog Grace loved the house too---it was so great to finally get to take her on a family vacation with us. The surround sound in the living room is awesome! The owners, Hans and Robin, were extremely gracious and accomodating and are eager to make every renter's stay as enjoyable and stress-free as possible. Thank you for such an enjoyable week and for being so accomodating for our last minute vacation! The only suggestion I would have is maybe an elevator and some beach chairs and an umbrella :)

We have been vacationing in the Outer Banks for over 25 years and have stayed in many different houses. Xanadunes is definitely at the top of the list for amenities and location. The owner's have done everything possible to provide a stress free vacation, including (but not limited to) allowing pets, providing linens, and wireless internet access. You can go to the beach or swim in the backyard pool, ride your bike right outside the front door, or just hang out on any of the decks and enjoy the breeze and the view. You can walk to along the backroads to many restaurants and stores. The owner's really go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your stay. They are very accessible and wonderful to deal with. We would definitely recommend a relaxing vacation at Xanadunes.

Our Stay at the Xanadunes Beach Home 16 Sept. 2006 to 24 Sept. 2006 was very enjoyable and relaxing. Hans and Robin (Owners) made the booking of this property absolutely stress free, and even called during the trip to check that everything was to our satisfaction. When returning to the OBX area; Xanadunes will be at the top of our list. The pool, and hot tub were great, and we loved the Theatre Sound System in the evenings. The area is very safe, and you can even walk to shop and eat locally. Thanks Hans and family, and Robin and family for a great home and we couldn't believe how you guys thought of everything right down to the helpful instructions on the electronics, etc. Sincerely, Paul and Brenda Long

Wonderful beach house would love to rent it again, it has everything you need and more, plus we even got to bring the family pet. Great location just a short walk to the beach, restaurants and shopping. The pool and hot tub is relaxing after a day in the sun at the beach. Would recommend this beach house to everyone.

Wonderful beach home with exceptional amenities--private pool, hot tub, internet, YMCA privileges (great for any rainy days), and we got to bring our dog! Close to the beach, restaurants and shopping, too. We've rented this house twice and we hope to do so again in the future.
