We have enjoyed sharing out home. This is a truly special place. My understanding is that the new owner will not be renting the home.
I have always considered myself a custodian of this enchanted place. This home also would not have been what it was without the malama from Bob and Joani Lendahl.
I want to thank my neighbors for their Aloha. You made my family feel welcomed. The gifts on our front porch were cherished and you always looked after our home.
I will always treasure the stories and poems left in our guest book.
The last few years have seen so many weddings, birth announcements, engagements, luau's, a few conceptions (I am sure) and even two Hawaiian styled funerals.
I was told to never love something that can't love you back, but those people never visited here or they would know otherwise.

Why the Owner Chose Kalihiwai
I continue to be amazed at the number of locals from Kauai who had no idea that this view existed. It is like no other I have seen on the island. The south Poipu side is always sunny. It even has cactus growing. There are lots of resorts and lots of tourists. The north shore has rain and all the lush vegetation and dramatic mountain scenary that reminds you that this is not just another island. We have awesome sun sets, the beach below, the ocean the mountains and Bali Hi views. Every few minutes the skies and the views change.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Our home is a home. it is not a resort and it is not a wicker furnished condo. We have lovely neighbors. There is no air conditioning, but the advanatage to a bluff location is near constant trade winds. The views are better than I have the skills to describe. After everyone is "beached out" or if one has small children or multiple generations on the trip, there is this amazing world in your backyard to never let you forget the beauty of Hawaii. The surroundings are peaceful and serene beyond comprehension with only the sounds of birds and the ocean.

I am a custom home builder. The challenge in building is to get the details right and tell a story with your home. Welcome to "Old Hawaii". The story is that plantation homes look a lot like Nantucket beach houses because the whalers brought their familiar style of architecture with them when they settled down and brought the wife to live with them in Hawaii. I think you will find the simple elegance of the house and grounds a peaceful and comfortable home for you. I called my website MyKauaiHome (add the dot com) because whenever you tell someone where you are staying on Kauai, you can refer to it as 'my' Kauai home as well. In fact, we have repeat guests that we are honored to have them say that 'my' Kauai home is their Kauai home too.
