The nice folks at VRBO® gave me this page so I could show you the Vacation Rental homes that I have visited. In case you don't recognize me, I'm the VRBO® Bear - a rare blue eyed Teddy bear that loves to travel all over the world... and when I travel, of course I stay only at VRBO® Vacation Rentals (so should you!!)
You'll love this beautiful home!
08/20/2005 - Minter Washington is a little off the"beaten path" (about 50 miles southwest of Seattle), but well worth the trip. You will feel like you are in the "lap of luxury" when you first enter the main house and see the luxurious accommodations that await you. It boasts a master suite, and two additional bedrooms, three bathrooms, a huge kitchen and dining room, all beautifully decorated. There is also a nice living area with a HD flat screen television and fireplace. The second building (just a few steps away) houses a second master suite that is equally as impressive.
This bear especially enjoyed roaming over the 100-foot deck and watching the wildlife. You can see the salmon swimming by in the stream right off the deck. Watch eagles as they soar above and dive down for their dinner. Or maybe you’d like to take a little hike on the 10 acres that surrounds you. You will feel as if you are hundreds of miles from the city when in reality you are just a moderate drive away.
You may not want to leave once you’ve arrived, but if you choose to experience the city, you have several options. There are several small harbor towns just a few minutes away with lots of shops and restaurants. Tacoma is a short drive away, or you can be in Seattle in about an hour, either by highway or by ferry. There you can see major league sports, visit Pike’s market, the Space Needle, or any number of other shops and fun activities.
Whatever you choose to do, one thing is for sure, you will love the accommodations!

A mountain view near the Big Sky townhouse.
08/17/2005 - Greetings from Big Sky Montana! That’s where this bear stayed while visiting beautiful Yellowstone National Park. You’ll enjoy every minute of your stay in this lovely three-bedroom townhouse at Big Sky resort. Whether you want to snuggle up by the fireplace on a cold winter evening or simply hibernate (sleep in) and have a "home cooked" breakfast at your leisure, this is the place for you. You will enjoy a full kitchen, 3 comfortable bedrooms with 3 baths. Who needs a movie theater when you can kick back and enjoy a DVD on the big screen TV? If you’re like me, you don’t like to over pack, so it was very convenient to use the laundry facilities just off the kitchen.
Big Sky Mountain is known for its winter fun with downhill skiing, snowmobiling and sleigh rides nearby. It is also a great place to stay in the summer months. Activities such as mountain biking, horseback riding, and white water rafting are just minutes away. You can even take a slow walk around the small lake in front of the complex. We enjoyed the beautiful drive down to Yellowstone, just 45 minutes away and enjoyed all the wonders of this national park. It’s truly a beautiful area for a little bear like me to have fun in the summer or winter. You’ll love it too!

That's me sitting on the porch rail!
08/11/2005 - Howdy everyone from the beautiful mountains of Colorado. My girlfriends and I just spent a wonderful weekend up in Summit County at the Summit Peaks South Lodge. Boy, is it a big place... a little guy like me could get lost with all the rooms. We spent most our time gabbing and playing games in the big, open family room. It's so cool with huge logs and windows everywhere. I mean, you can even see part of Lake Dillon out one of the windows. It sure was pretty watching the sun rise up over the lake and mountains in the distance.
We loved spending time outside too, since there were woods and trails everywhere. The lodge is backed by forest, so several of us took a long walk on Saturday. I was afraid I would get lost, but my girlfriends knew the way back. There are also trails down the road from the lodge too. Hiking is so much fun in Colorado. That's me enjoying the great outdoors in the picture. I spent much of my time outdoors sitting on the nice log porch. I kept waiting for the hummingbirds to visit, but I think I scared them away.
My friends and I spent several hours shopping at the Outlet Mall a ways down the road from the lodge. One friend even walked all the way down there just to get her Starbucks early Saturday morning. There's so much to see and do around this area. Everything is close by. Hope you can come visit here soon... plan on having a great time!

The Bear relaxing on the deck, overlooking the wetlands and bike path.
07/27/2005 - There are a lot of condos in Summit County but you'll not find a more immaculate one than this one. Our hosts Kevin & Rachel provided all the little details like toiletry kits, local maps, books, and games. You will also not find one with closer parking. The parking area is steps away from the front but cleverly shielded by the outside ski/bike lockers, another nice feature. No need to haul your skis or bikes through the unit to a locker on the deck like at many other locations.
The view from the deck is wonderful; the wetlands, just steps away and the ski slopes just a couple hundred yards away. There are hiking and biking trails all over the area that for the ambitious can take them clear to the beautiful Dillon Resevoir and beyond.
While Summit County is hardly a secret with four of the world's premier ski areas, many visitors are finding that it has become a four-season resort area. There are many year-around attractions and it offers a welcome relief from the heat at lower elevations! My VRBO.com friends and I heartily recommend this condo for it's great location and varied activities and amenities.

VRBO Bear Enjoying the Courtyard
07/24/2005 - This was my second trip to Savannah, and I found that classic southern tradition and style at 120 West Taylor Street. This beautifully decorated “Savannah Row House” sits right on Chatham Square, one of the dozens of squares around which this historic city is built. The history and architecture of Savannah must be experienced first-hand to fully appreciate it. There are plenty of things for the family to do, and Tybee Island Beach is only 20 minutes away.
My buddies and I had this entire house to ourselves. The garden apartment was very nicely decorated, very cozy, yet we had all the room we needed with two beds, two baths, full kitchen, nice sitting area, and covered veranda in the courtyard. The brick floors were a beary nice touch. The upper apartment was absolutely gorgeous as well, everything a little larger, and its verandah overlooks and has access to the courtyard as well. You find either apartment a great place to stay.
Parking can be difficult in Savannah, but this house has a two car garage with private access from the ally. That’s a real treat in Savannah! Savannah is a great walking city, and 120 West Taylor Street is nearby to everything. Don’t miss an opportunity to visit Savannah, and plan to stay at 120 West Taylor when you do.

Enjoying the morning and improving weather on the deck at Country and Lake
07/07/2005 - This bear couldn’t believe what a nice find Country and Lake was! Located just outside the charming village of Edam, Country and Lake sits across the street from the beach and is surrounded by open farms. The friendly hosts write and direct plays in nearby Edam and are becoming well known around the world. They have been to Sundance by invitation of Robert Redford himself and have taken their work to Broadway and many other major cities around the US, Caribbean, and Europe. You will want to schedule plenty of time to get to know them better.
Both apartments are very nice. This bear and his friends loved them both, and felt right at home in the open surroundings. All possible amenities are offered, and then some, such as the use of bikes – the preferred mode of transportation for many Hollanders.
Nearby Edam is a real jewel. It's that little quaint European village you always dreamed of but maybe never found. Edam celebrates 650 years 'City Rights' in 2007. There will be festivities all over then. Today it appears to have lost none of its original charm. Well known for the cheese it exports, Edam is a place to get lost in for several relaxing days. Parking is easy in Edam, or use the bikes and be there just about as quickly.
You can catch a nice bus at Edam and find yourself in Amsterdam in less than half an hour. It’s so easy, and you can transfer to the trams and quickly make your way anywhere in Amsterdam, such as the Van Gogh Museum. If you fly into Amsterdam and rent a car, you’ll find the drive to Country and Lake short and easy.
Country and Lake is a great place to stay in Holland. You’ll feel welcome and right at home, can relax in the quiet surroundings, and yet spend all the time in Amsterdam or touring the surrounding countryside you want.

BBQ & eat outside, take a siesta, or relax while watching golfers on the course
06/22/2005 - Located just outside of Vail/Beaver Creek in Edwards, CO, we discovered that there is something here for every member of our Bear family/party. From the fabulous 7 decks (1 off of almost every room), to the breathtaking views off the AMAZING rooftop hot tub, to the incredibly well thought out 'Cub' playrooms (located right off of the indoor & outdoor cub/kids play areas), to the golf course (located right outside your front door), we found everything you could ever want in a vacation home. Summer or winter will find any Bear not able to choose from the many things they could do (on &/or off site).
Comfort, charm, and many thoughtful "extras" helped us to relax during our Bear getaway in this gorgeous home. We were able to dine out at some of the many local restaurants recommended personally by the owner himself, and we ate in as well, taking advantage of the spacious, fully equipped kitchen. This home is very appropriate for any group, large or small, and for any occasion! If a Bear is looking for a place to RELAX, kick back and enjoy himself, this is the place! It was difficult for us Bears to leave the little piece of paradise we encountered during our stay in this spectacular mountain home, but we managed to do so in hopes that we would return again in the future.

I loved my stay in the mountains!!!
06/16/2005 - If you love the beauty of the mountains, breath taking views, a clean cozy cabin and seeing wild life up close and personal then you’ll love this cabin in the mountains.
To my surprise, upon entering the beautiful town of Grand Lake, there on the side of the road was a huge Bull Moose with antlers bigger then I have ever seen. This was truly a once in a lifetime experience. Where else, other then Grand Lake, could I have seen a moose on the side of the road? What a lucky bear I am.
If that wasn’t good enough to make the whole trip worth it I stepped into the cabin and was pleasantly surprised. The pictures I had seen did not do it justice. This clean cozy cabin had a full kitchen, living area, beautiful views, and relaxing atmosphere which made me feel at home right away. I could not wait to sit my paws down and relax in front of the fireplace.
Within walking distance to Shadow Mountain Lake, Grand Lake and downtown Grand Lake there was so much to do. There were also some wonderful restaurants to eat at, such as Sagebrush (barbecue), Pancho and Lefty's (mexican), and Chuck Hole for breakfast. Oh where these little legs can go.
I definitely had a Grand time while staying in Grand Lake and will come back to visit the area again.

I Loved Sunbathing By The Crystal Blue Ocean Waters
05/22/2005 - Holiday Isle is a beautiful three-mile long island located in Destin, Florida. This coastal paradise is home to upscale residences and resorts, gorgeous landscaping and paths, perfect for that morning jog or bike ride. The famous, white sand beaches and crystal clear blue waters of this Gulf coast isle are complimented by this luxury condo located in the Waterview Towers. This penthouse unit is nothing short of spectacular with it’s designer furnishings, awesome views and abundant amenities. Upon entrance, you are greeted with a spacious living area for dining, relaxation and entertainment. Floor to ceiling windows line the length of the room which provide unobstructed views of the Destin Harbor. The three large bedrooms, all with lavish linens, can comfortably sleep six to eight.
The master suite has a king-sized, cherry wood bed, large armoire with television, a writing desk, mirrored dresser and private balcony. Its in-suite bathroom has a large, jetted tub surrounded by mirrors, a roomy tiled shower with seating area, and a double sink vanity. At the opposite end of the unit, are the second and third bedrooms, adjoined by a "Jack and Jill” bathroom, equipped with a dual vanity and tiled shower. The second bedroom is decorated in a West Indies theme, accented with palm trees and dark wood. This room has a queen- sized bed, with a reading area and a sliding door to access the large balcony. The third bedroom is decorated in a nautical theme with navy blue, red and a natural wicker queen size bed. It hosts a huge wall unit with glass doors and shelves which houses a television and a large safe for your valuables.
The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, dishes, glasses and small appliances (coffee grinder & maker, toaster & blender). The kitchen is also equipped with a full-size refrigerator, dishwasher, oven and microwave and a breakfast bar with bar stools. All of the countertops are a beautiful granite and cabinets are a modern natural wood. In the dining area is a marble top table with 4 wood backed chairs. The living area is outfitted with a large cushioned couch and two very comfortable over-sized chairs with ottomans. For your entertainment, is an armoire with a large, flat- screened television and a bar area, with icemaker, wine cooler and sink. An additional half bath is located near the entrance for your convenience. Outside on the balcony are two, glass-topped tables, chairs and loungers to enjoy warm, relaxing evenings or your morning cup of coffee. The views are spectacular and I could have spent hours, just watching the boats go by (Destin is the sport fishing capital of the nation). By far this unit is one of the most beautiful I’ve stayed in yet and I would highly recommend staying here if you plan on visiting the Destin area.

The VRBO Bear Visits the Portland, Oregon Area & Stays in a FLOATING HOUSE!
04/26/2005 - What a blessing it was to stay this BEAUTIFUL FLOATING HOME. We enjoyed the lovely scenery looking through picture windows throughout the home. We spent peaceful time on the spacious deck out back on the Willamette River. We watched water-skiers ski up and down the river... WOW!
This floating home was featured on HGTV's Living Channel 80 Homes. The home has all of the amenities we could ever want... Three bedrooms including a spectacular master suite. Located in Oregon City, this home is close to everything. We visited downtown Portland, the vineyards in the surrounding area, and the beautiful falls on the way to the Oregon coast.
What a relaxing and enjoyable vacation... We would love to go back again soon!

Ahhh, Enjoying my Starbucks and this Spectacular View "From Sea to Sky"!
04/10/2005 - I knew I was in Heaven when I walked into my Seattle Skyrise Apartment. The views... the appointments... the views!!! It was like living outside with the amenities of luxury inside. It was a clear day (I hear those aren't common in Seattle), but I had plenty of them during my 5 day visit to the Coffee Capital!.
I could even see Mount Rainier!!! One of my favorite activites was just looking out the beautiful, large picture windows at the water below. I could see the ferry making its way back and forth across the glassy sea.
And, of course, I was only a few minute's walk from 'STARBUCKS'!!!!! Ahhhhh, life doesn't get any better than this.
You know, a Bear's favorite food is fish, so the world famous Pike Place Market was a daily stop for me. I could spend all day there, (and did). The fresh fish, the shops, the street entertainment, there was so much to do, and the best thing was, I was right in the middle of it!
At the end of each fun-filled day, I returned to the privacy of this beautiful apartment. From my cozy and beary comfortable bed, I could even enjoy the beautiful sights of Seattle and the lights below while drifting off to sleep.
I can't wait to go back! Signed, VRBO Bear
Bonjour! From The Eiffel Tower!
03/25/2005 - This elegant one bedroom apartment is superbly located in Paris’ 6th Arrondissement, where upscale boutiques, art galleries, and restaurants are abundant. The day we arrived, our host was ready and waiting for us with a smile. She was very gracious with her time and gave us a walk through tour of the apartment before handing the keys over. We found her to be very helpful and told us we could call her any time for any questions or concerns we had.
After seeing pictures of this getaway, I knew it would be beautiful but pictures just don’t do justice. "Luxury" is the best word I can use to explain the ambiance, with its stylish furnishings and awesome views of the Eiffel Tower from your private balcony, so close can almost reach out and touch it!
This owner has put much thought and detail into making your stay special. Guide books, reading books and DVD movies are provided for lazy, rainy days or a night in. There was a wonderful homemade notebook filled with maps, restaurant and tour suggestions. WiFi internet is also provided for those who brought their laptop. A complimentary gift basket was provided. It included a bottle of wine, milk, orange juice, snack biscuits and a beautiful baguette bag.
The kitchen is very modern with cherry wood cabinets & granite counter tops, complete with a dishwasher, cooking supplies, utensils and a fun espresso machine. Even the espresso pods are provided! The light filled living room has large, French style windows and beautifully finished wood floors. The room is tastefully decorated with hand selected, upscale Victorian furnishings, a marble surrounded fireplace and several decorative pieces and wall art collected from local flea markets and chic boutiques in the area. The master bedroom is decorated in white and lavender for a clean and cheerful feeling and furnished with a king-size bed made up of two twin-size beds (could be separated if needed). The ensuite bathroom also has top quality fixtures.
I found this retreat to be the perfect setting for my "honey" and I to spend our Paris vacation together. This apartment is clean, lavish and highly recommended to all.

I was "Beary Brave" to sit high above the drop off overlooking Waipio Valley!
03/21/2005 - Paradise? Yes, this is it!! Upon landing in beautiful Kona among the fragrant flowers and warm breeze, I realized that I was "Beary Hungry". I stopped in town to eat at "Poncho and Lefty’s" (great Mexican food) before heading up Alii Drive to the Condo.
When I entered my "Home away from Home" I was greeted by the unmistakable Aloha Island Breeze coming through the screen doors leading to the lanai. This was a beautiful, well appointed condo and I was lucky enough to be staying here! The condo was spacious, with a beautiful, very well equipped kitchen. It was squeaky clean and comfortable. I slept like a King in my King size Bed! I had lots of room to roam and didn’t feel cramped for space. I could even venture up the circular staircase to the loft area where I tried out the beds. They were "Just Right".
I was so glad that the location gave me the view over the golf course and onto the blue ocean. During the day I could swim, go to Starbucks "in town", and even lounge in privacy on the lanai and catch some rays. At night, the sunsets were spectacular!
When you stay here, be sure to take a day and explore your way to Waipio Valley and the top of Mauna Kea Mountain. These were highlights for me. There was one problem with this condo... I was so comfortable and happy here, that I didn’t want to leave!

I Loved the Spectacular Views of Lake Como From One of Five Balconies!
03/15/2005 - One of the most beautiful areas in Italy is comprised of Como and its adjoining lake of the same name. Here, you will find clear blue waters, snow-capped alpine peaks and historic walled towns. This relaxing getaway is located in the charming town of Carate-Urio, a small village with narrow, cobblestone streets and meandering pathways. I believe that this is one of the most beautiful, undiscovered vacation destinations in the world.
"Vista Lago" is located in a historic hotel, which has been recently converted into upscale & luxurious apartments. Upon entrance of this third floor apartment you will find a spacious and sunny living room, dining area and kitchen. This home features 5 balconies, all of which have panoramic views of the lake. I was impressed to find details such as a provided cell phone, satellite TV, a CD player with a variety of CD’s, vacation guide books, brochures for the surrounding businesses and a list of recommended restaurants for that area.
Towards the rear of the apartment is the master bedroom which has its own private balcony and views to enjoy as you are waking up in the morning. There is an adjoining master bath which consists of 12' ceilings, tub and shower, large sink basin and marble throughout. The secondary bedroom also has its own balcony and views. There is an adjoining studio apartment, which can be closed off for privacy and rented separately. It includes a kitchen, living area with table for four, sleeper sofa and fully tiled bathroom.
Because the town is in such a quaint, residential area, there are only a few restaurants and small convenient stores within walking distance. We found it easiest to rent a car but there is also a bus stop right in front of the building and a water taxi can also pick you up for excursions around the lake.
This is a perfect vacation spot for those who enjoy and cherish peace and tranquillity away from every day crowds. You are sure to go home refreshed and relaxed.

VRBO Bear enjoying the historic view from this Savannah loft.
03/08/2005 - Some of my frequent traveling buddies and I have had our blue eyes on Savannah for some time and were very lucky to find this great loft in the heart of this beautiful and beary historical city. This loft is more than roomy enough for a bear and all his companions. It’s absolutely beautiful inside with wood floors and exposed brick walls, high ceilings, large old windows, new furniture, and a kitchen full of modern conveniences.
This loft is a 3rd floor corner unit with great views in two directions. It sits on Broughton street - the main drag of a revitalized and very lively downtown Savannah. It’s within easy walking distance of famed River Street, The Savannah College of Art and Design, great shopping, and good restaurants.
Savannah is the first city of the 13th colony, founded in 1773 on an extensive system of 24 historical squares, each named after a person or event important to the history of Savannah. Monuments, statues, and sometimes graves are found in these squares, each a mini-park with open grassy areas, Spanish-moss laden trees, brick walkways, and plenty of park benches, all surrounded by incredibly architected homes, buildings, and churches.
Savannah is a city like no other, full of history and beautiful architecture, and only 20 minutes from wonderful Tybee Island and its great beaches.

The Bear relaxes overlooking the pool and the sea.
02/14/2005 - After the journey to Barbados, my traveling companions and I were glad to arrive at this beautiful home and meet the owner, Marilyn. She showed us around the spacious home with its five bedrooms and three baths which gave all of us plenty of room to spread out in!
It quickly became our routine to have breakfast and read by the beautiful pool with its spectacular views of the cane fields, the old windmill ruins and the sea, less than a mile away. We ended each day there as well discussing our activities which included snorkeling, diving, touring the many interesting nearby sites, and eating at excellent local restaurants.
The people of the island were exceptionally friendly and helpful and after a week we felt that we'd definitely return for further experiences. We understood why Tiger Woods chose Barbados as the location for his recent wedding!

VRBO Bear enjoying the wood-burning fireplace
01/11/2005 - Imagine my delight when my last minute inquiry resulted in a short stay at Michael’s Haven, a gorgeous log cabin in the woods. When my friends and I arrived, it was dark with soft, fluffy snowflakes falling, but the house was glowing with welcoming lights. Wade, the friendly on site caretaker, was very gracious and made sure all of our needs were met.
This is much more than a cabin....it is a finely crafted six bedroom log home with every amenity you can imagine. The décor is delightful, with lodge and wildlife touches in every room. Huge hand hewn logs, river stone, antler touches on lamps and even surrounding the mirror in one of the bathrooms, and lots of bear and other animal accessories, all contribute to the home’s cozy atmosphere. A little bear cub is even welcome with its own unique log crib and hand crafted hickory high chair, as well as a gate at the top of the stairs for safety. There is even room for a Bear Clan of 18 to hibernate!
This home is situated directly above the Blue River, with tall spruce trees all around....it certainly made this bear feel right at home! The back deck has a view of the surrounding forest, as well as of Breckenridge’s Peak 10. There is also a terrific hot tub, which was greatly appreciated after a long day at the slopes. The mama bears who didn’t ski enjoyed hanging out at Michael’s Haven with a nice fire in the tall stone fireplace, while the rest of the clan caught the shuttle to the ski resort...the shuttle stop is just a short walk up the road from the home.
This home is one of the beary best, and I am sure you would agree!

Look at the Sand Dollar I found!
12/17/2004 - You've heard the saying, "Heaven's a little closer in a cottage by the sea". You will find this true after staying in this lovely, inviting home. From the moment you step inside you feel a sense of peace and tranquillity. It's evident the owner has taken special care to make each and every room a fun and relaxing retreat. The home is custom decorated throughout with exactly what you would imagine and more for a place on the beach. During my visit it was cool out so I enjoyed curling up on the couch with a good book while enjoying the wood burning fireplace and the gorgeous ocean views. Even Fido will feel at home with all of the "pet friendly" items provided, including a bed just for him. The basket of goodies left for us was a special treat and I loved the drawer full of a variety of flavored teas.
My host has even put much thought and detail into the outside of this home. Upon entrance through the wooden gate in the front you will find a little garden and path that leads to the back deck which overlooks the ocean. Situated on the deck is a large gazebo with your own private hot tub in it... Boy was that nice to have!
The Oregon coast is always beautiful come rain or shine. One day I took a long stroll on the beach and found some sand dollars and even some "bear caves" to explore in. Oceanside is the perfect place to enjoy the Oregon coast and this is the quintessential place to stay.

VRBO Bear enjoying the lanai
11/18/2004 - Huge, unobstructed views of the Pacific ocean, the south Maui shoreline and Haleakala... wow! I couldn't keep my baby blue eyes off of those views... what a great place to watch for Humpback whales in the winter months, I can bearly wait to come back!
I bearly set my furry paws in this Maui condo, when I noticed all the recently upgraded features such as granite counter tops in the kitchen and baths, marble tile floors, big screen TV, stereo system, etc... all the features of home PLUS this condo is centrally located in Maalea - not far from the Maui Ocean Center aquarium.
Just down the street, begins a 4 mile beach that's to die for - great for strolling or beach combing. When you get a "rumbly in your tummy", there's lots of great Maui restaurants nearby too. What are you waiting for?

VRBO Bear enjoys the pool
11/14/2004 - This great Wailea condo is located in the Grand Champions Golf and Tennis Villas - it's convenient to the pristine Wailea Resort beaches, 54 holes of golf at 3 Wailea golf courses, 11 tennis courts, and shopping.
This attractive, uncluttered ground floor condo features a fully equipped kitchen, tile floors, air conditioning, 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. I could bearly believe my big blue eyes when I saw the master bedroom, it has has one of the largest showers I've ever seen - with 2 shower heads (plenty big enough for 2 full size bears at the same time! - very romantic).
My golfing buddies will love this location close to all Wailea golf courses, or if you have a hankering for tennis, the Wailea tennis complex is only a short stroll.
This condo is close to the crystal clear pool (but still very quiet). The "shops at Wailea" is only 2 blocks away with many fine shopping and dining options... and of course, the world famous sun drenched beaches of Wailea are all nearby... Ahhh... this is the life!

VRBO Bear enjoying Casa Bougainvillea's verandah
10/30/2004 - Casa Bougainvillea on St. Thomas is a fabulous place to gather with a group of family or friends and enjoy a Caribbean vacation. The villa is ideally situated to both protect your privacy, yet offer great waterfront views.
Everyone will enjoy the fresh water pool and the large deck area (featuring plenty of sun or shade choices). The spacious and open great room is the perfect gathering spot... open the sliding doors to catch the cooling ocean breezes, or crank up the AC... your choice. Enjoy watching the sailboats from your covered verandah.
The gazebo features a gas BBQ so you can grill up a mouth watering steak or seafood feast (there are many fine restaurants nearby as well, for those nights when you just don't feel like cooking). The adults in your party will enjoy the choice of 3 master bedroom suites (one even has a private outdoor shower)
Oh... one more thing, on a moonless night, the view of the Caribbean stars is amazing...

VRBO Bear enjoying the St. Thomas Ritz
10/26/2004 - WOW... The Ritz Carlton, St. Thomas!!! I can't imagine a more fabulous place to stay on vacation! From the elegant marble floors to the tasteful and lovely decor, my suite at The Ritz was fabulous...
I almost got lost in my room's king-size bed with its pillow-top mattress and luxury linens/pillows... ahhh... it was sooo comfy. The bathroom was especially spacious too, and we were supplied daily with plenty of clean, soft fluffy towels and toiletry items. It even had a blow dryer so I didn't have to go out with wet fur. Oooh... and central air plus ceiling fans throughout the suite kept me quite comfortable. It was a splendid accommodation.
The Ritz is located on a beautiful white sandy beach at Great Bay, and the grounds were lovely and immaculately maintained. In fact, it would be easy to just spend your entire day enjoying one of the on-site pools, Jacuzzis, or fun beachfront activities. The Ritz even has some great spa treatments available and several restaurants to choose from as well. And when you are ready to get out of the hot sun, your suite will be wonderful place to relax after a busy day (great for a mid-day siestas too). And back inside, if you don't want to watch TV, you can watch a DVD, order a movie online to watch, or even play a video game. Oh, and if you happen to bring your computer along on vacation, you'll be happy to know their suites do have high speed Internet access so you can minimize your time online (way cool)!
I should also mention that the staff at The Ritz were very warm and friendly to me. In fact I know they would have spoiled me a whole bunch more if I had let them. You know, having my suite cleaned and my bed made each day, with a chocolate left on my pillow each night, was a great way to spoil me but good. I know I'm just a little bear, but I would sure love to come back here and stay at The Ritz again sometime!

Enjoying the wildflowers and views from the backyard of Mount Crested Butte home
07/01/2004 - Crested Butte, Colorado is a beautiful mountain town, nestled in the towering Rocky Mountains, in the midst of a variety of wildflowers and Aspen trees as far as the eye can see... I think I’ve found one of my "beary" favorite places to visit!
This home is a fantastic combination of all the conveniences of home blended with all the luxuries of a fine hotel or lodge. Ideally suited for large families or groups, with 3 bedrooms on the main level and a private 1-bedroom apartment in the loft. This residence will give you a "home sweet home" feeling with beautiful hardwood floors, a warm mixture of decorations and furnishings and large windows viewing the Alpine Valley. Relax to the "max" in the large hot tub or curl up on the couch with your favorite "bearverage" and enjoy looking through one of the many picture books provided.
Mount Crested Butte, where the home is located, is a short 3 mile drive or bike ride away from the small town of Crested Butte. Here you will find friendly residence and visitors gathering on Elk Avenue, the main strip in town. Elk Avenue offers an assortment of shops and restaurants where you are sure to find something to fit your liking. A trip to Gunnison, about 30 miles away lead me to the Black Canyon where I hiked down to the river and walked the once, narrow gauge railroad line. With tickets bought ahead of time at the visitor’s center one can take a guided boat trip down the river and learn the history of the area. You can also enjoy great trout fishing here.
Whether you are here to bike the mountains, ski the slopes, attend the many art and music festivals, or just getaway... you are sure to enjoy this spectacular home in Mount Crested Butte, Colorado!

07/01/2004 - Dana Point, California is located midway between Los Angeles and San Diego, distinguished by it's nearly seven miles of coastal bluffs and rolling hills along the Pacific Coast.
This condo is conveniently located just steps away from the beach and a short drive away from Dana Point harbor. Upon entrance at this beach condo I was greeted with a nice card, several local magazines and some fun souvenirs supplied by the owner. Much detail and thought was put into making us feel welcome. The condo was complete with movies, DVD's, high speed internet and homemade guides with maps and directions. There was supplied shampoo, conditioner and soaps in both of the bathrooms. Tastefully updated throughout with hardwood flooring and new carpet. The bright, cheery décor and the super comfortable couches and beds made me feel right at home.
Within this quiet town you will find several friendly people who will gladly answer any questions you have about the area. While visiting Dana Point Harbor I enjoyed a cup of gourmet coffee while basking in the pleasant surroundings. The harbor provides slips and mooring for over 2,500 boats along with over 50 specialty shops and restaurants. At the shops you will find a variety of treasures, everything from custom jewelry, art collectibles, T-shirts and souvenirs, unique bed and bath gifts and even some ice cream if desired. Dana Point is the home of the popular sportfishing vessels owned and operated by Dana Wharf Sportfishing. They are available for charter and/or a day of fishing. On a hot summer day, the community pool back at the condo is a refreshing way to cool off. Once the sun goes down, enjoy a walk on the beach, a romantic dinner on your private patio, or go out for a fun night on the town.
This condo was "tip-top" on my list and would definitely recommend staying here if you plan to visit the area. The short time I had here just wasn’t enough. I will definitely have to come back to visit to take in all Dana Point has to offer.

VRBO Bear enjoying a day at Rockaway Beach.
06/21/2004 - Upon arrival in the relaxed, seaside town of Rockaway, we were ready to kick back, relax and enjoy the sights, sounds and tastes of West Coast living. The rather plain exterior of this oceanside home did not prepare us for the beautifully decorated and quality furnished interior. Everything was top-notch from the granite counter tops in the kitchen to the plush couches in the living room. This home features floor to ceiling windows, which offer spectacular views from just about every room in the house.
Just a few steps away is the beautiful Pacific ocean. We enjoyed taking long walks along the beach, collecting shells and star fish, splashing in the waves, and even made a campfire and roasted marshmallows one night. The kids enjoyed making sand castles with the provided buckets, shovels and castle making tools.
Nearby Tillamook, known for it’s famous cheese factory offers clamming, crabbing, Salmon and bottom fishing. Anyone who enjoys shopping will have to visit the Lincoln City outlet mall and be sure to stop at the many antique stores along the way. Not to often does a bear get to go horseback riding. We found a wonderful tour guide to take us on an hour-long horseback ride along the beach.
If you are looking to relax, back at the house you can curl up on one of the couches, read a book and soak in the great views. Did I mention "soak-in?" Relaxing in the hot tub was a great way to wind-down after an exciting day of fun filled activities.
For meal time the large, fully equipped gourmet kitchen was wonderful. Everything from durable pots and pans to spices were included. If eating out is your thing. When it’s time for bed, this bear thought the plush, king-size beds were "just right." There were plenty of beds to sleep all of us comfortably and 4 bathrooms, so we didn’t have to fight over shower time. The master bathroom even has a huge walk-in shower with 3 showerheads!
Whether you are looking to have a relaxing getaway or a fun filled family vacation I would highly recommend "Majestic Dreams." After staying at this large, spacious home I will never go back to staying in bear cave hotels again!

06/06/2004 - Whether you're visiting Beaver Creek for the snow activities in the Winter/Spring, or here to simply enjoy the beauty of the gorgeous mountains (and the activities offered) in the Summer/Fall, any bear traveling alone, with friends, or with his bear family would enjoy this newly remodeled, roomy, 2 bedroom, 2 story condo in heart of Beaver Creek Resort!
It is evident that my hosts put much thought and care into creating a comfortable and relaxing experience for any bear's getaway. I was not only called "a guest" but I was treated like one too! My hosts thought of everything... slippers near the door, robes in the closet, complimentary coffee, firewood for the wood burning stove, games, music, movies, internet access, and that's just naming a few! With all the comforts of home, the resort atmosphere of this condo was "beary" relaxing and enjoyable!
I felt quite comfortable in the sophisticated rustic decor with moose and bear decorations, a great addition to the condo I might add! The newly remodeled kitchen with granite counter tops and flat top stove made cooking "in" quite a treat. And mama bear agreed that sleeping in a king size canopy bed in the spacious master bedroom was a real delight, especially for "small" bears like us (wow was there a lot of room)!
If you want to visit the resort town of Beaver Creek, Colorado, you'll want to be sure to consider this lovely condo as your accommodations. Whether you're looking for the "perfect" mountain setting, sophistication, charm, or simply just a peaceful atmosphere, this would be the place to stay!

The Bear with his new friend!
04/27/2004 - This is the second B&B the Hollands have operated in Lower Normandy. Their other one, Le Manoir de Herouville was selected by Tatler Magazine's Abercrombie & Kent Travel Guide 2004 as one of the "101 Best Hotels on the way to..."
Even with the feeling of being centuries old, all the modern amenities are present in this beautifully restored home. The Hollands have lived many places during his lifetime military career and the home is full of remembrances of those places and career. Silver cannons and brass artillery shell casings look perfectly normal next to beautiful collections of antique cheese dishes and pottery from all over the world. Photos of their friend Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York adorn a table near a window overlooking the pastoral back yard.
The reason for our trip was to visit D-Day landmarks throughout Normandy, during the 60th anniversary year of Operation Overlord. The home provides an ideally located base for this. Graham is a retired British Army Major General and a student of military history. The two days of touring with him were exceptional. He is literally a walking encyclopedia on the history of D-Day. There is no other way we could have seen all the sites and gotten the background and insights he provided during the short time we were there. I can't recommend enough this service he offers.
The Hollands were wonderful hosts, always ready to make dinner reservations at their favorite local establishments or recommending the best of the many local activities. Between them they speak French, German and English. The home is located in an area where hiking and biking opportunities abound. If you love golf, Graham is keen to take you to any of the local courses, including one, strangely enough at Omaha Beach. If you are interested in the beauty of Normandy or the history of D-Day, La Moriniere is simply 'parfait ' (perfect).

VRBO Bear enjoying the St. Croix views
04/26/2004 - If you are looking for some "Caribbean fun in the sun", then you should definitely check out Villa Soleil. This is a beary nice place to take a large group of friends (or would be good for a small group or couple that wants to "spread out".) Located on St. Croix's beautiful north shore, Villa Soleil sports a large deck with fantastic views. If the tradewinds aren't enough to help you keep cool, then crank up the air conditioning when you need to.
Ready to cool off even more? How about a dip in the pool? The large deck is great for sunning during the day, or at night, just sit back and watch all the stars come out.
If you need space to spread out, there are 3 bedrooms upstairs, and 2 more downstairs so there is room for everyone. Even a separate living room downstairs for the youngsters (and even another kitchen if you need it).
The owner's have thought of just about everything you might need to keep everyone occupied including video games for the kids, family board games, books, movies, beach toys, beach cooler, beach towels etc. The VRBO Bear says "Enjoy yourselves!!!"

VRBO Bear loved Villa Sea Star's oceanfront location!
02/23/2004 - Villa Sea Star was a "multi" star accommodation in my travel book... it was first-class all the way!!! There were shapes of stars artistically arranged as accents on the Villa's outer gated wall, and then even more stars creatively sprinkled throughout the home's interior... way-cool! Beautiful sea sculptures, colorful artwork, wall murals, silk island flowers, furniture from Bali, and many special island touches made this vacation rental an unforgettable island treasure.
With my winter coat still thick and fury, I thought I would need to use the AC in each room... but I soon found that the high beamed ceilings and open airy feeling of this home, (with its many ceiling fans and the terrific cross-breeze its louvered screened windows and screened sliding doors also made possible), I was perfectly cool and comfortable. And of course I couldn't resist a dip or two in the extraordinary infinity pool either... ahhh... now that was fun and refreshing!
Star gazing from the back deck at night with the house lights turned off was a real treat too... wow, so many stars.. I was star-struck! I confess, it was very hard for me to pack my bags and leave Villa Sea Star to continue on with my travels. I am really going to miss this comfortable waterfront retreat that was just perfect for R&R with its terrific views, patio decks, unique pool... and of course the soothing sound of the ocean waves lulling me to sleep each night too... zzz.

VRBO Bear loved the view of Great Cruz Bay
02/19/2004 - Windcrest is a cute deck wrapped detached townhouse with an expansive view of St. John and Great Cruz Bay. This was a perfect location for a traveling bear to unwind and relax. Just sitting on the deck watching the view (or soaking in the hot tub) is a fabulous way to forget all your worries.
As those who have visited St. John will tell you, St. John (and most of the USVI) is very hilly and the streets are mostly unmarked, so it was very nice of of Vicky to meet us at the ferry and guide us to Windcrest. Driving on the LEFT side of the road, took a bit of getting used to, but within a day or two, my VRBO buddies and I were getting around just like native St. Johnians. We did have to keep an eye out for the local wildlife however, the donkeys, goats, sheep, and especially the friendly iguanas.
The beaches on St. John are world class and there are many to choose from within a short drive - so bring your snorkeling gear, or take some snorkeling lessons while you are here. After a relaxing dinner at one of St. John's many fine restaurants, return to Windcrest and enjoy viewing the brilliant Caribbean stars from the deck before making your way up the spiral staircase to the loft bedroom. After a good nights sleep, awaken in the morning to a cool ocean breeze and the fantastic view right from your bed.
Windcrest comes equipped with many thoughtful items to make you feel right at home: fresh cut flowers, beach towels, ice chest, beach chairs, St. John guide books and helpful tips on where to eat and what to see while on St. John.

VRBO Bear catching some sun at this great lakeside location!
08/27/2003 - This Lake Erie cottage is in a super location for anyone who is vacationing in northern Ohio. The cottage sits peacefully on the shore of Lake Erie and is located just off of Highway 6. It is just a few miles from Cedar Point, home to the biggest collection of super coasters in the USA! If roller coasters are not your thing, then don't worry, you have Lake Erie right in your own backyard. If you are into Summer fun, just rent a boat or jet ski and hit the water for some cool fun.
This vacation cottage has plenty of room for a little bear and his travelling buddies. All three of us had a bedroom of our own and there was even an extra bed in the loft. We had a full kitchen to cook up a meal for a hungry bear, and a dining room that looked out over the lake. What a beautiful view!!! At night we enjoyed the sound of the waves hitting against the shore as well as "kicking back" in front of the TV and watching a movie. The comfortable living room had a fireplace and was equipped with a television and DVD-VCR player.
Our hosts made us feel right at home. They were there to greet us when we arrived and even brought us fresh peaches (which a bear really loves) and several ears of corn, fresh out of the garden. We've never gotten that kind of service from the Holiday Inn.
So whether you want a quiet relaxing place to escape to, or a fun filled adventure, it's all right here on Ohio's north coast. You can fish the week away, play golf, boat, ski, or head down the highway to Cleveland and take in an Indians baseball game, or visit my favorite, the "Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame." It is all conveniently located near Huron, Ohio and this "Vacationland" cottage.

The intrepid Bear on the observation deck of the Eiffel Tower.
07/21/2003 - My first thought coming through the front door of this elegant Paris loft was "il est merveilleux!" - it's wonderful! This was just what a wandering bear and his traveling companion wanted after a long flight over the 'big pond'. It's apparent that great care was taken in designing and furnishing this apartment. It's beautifully decorated and has been featured in a book about small apartments and a television special about vacation rentals.
Although this apartment is quite compact, it has all the features needed for a wonderful stay. There is a state-of-the-art entertainment system complete with a large selection of DVDs and CDs for your pleasure. Many of the CDs feature French entertainers and there are many jazz selections, some recorded in local clubs. Several of the movies were filmed in Paris, making it interesting to visit an attraction during the day, then see it on the 'big screen' that evening.
The location couldn't be more ideal. The Montmartre district of Paris is a fascinating collection of galleries, restaurants, jazz clubs, shops, and residences, all crowned by the Sacre Coeur Basilica high on a hill overlooking the entire city. The loft is a short walk from the Gare du Nord train station and 2-3 blocks from two different Metro stations. You definitely won't need a car if you intend to spend your time in the city. It's a short Metro ride to sights like Le Louvre, the Tour du Eiffel, Notre Dame, and Versailles.
Our hosts, Peter and Rita were wonderful to deal with and provided guidebooks and maps to make my walks around the city that much easier. Merci beaucoup to them for their generosity and assistance. Au revoir!

VRBO Bear enjoying the view from INSIDE the home
07/19/2003 - Everything is BIG in Alaska - especially the mountains!!! How about the view of Mount Alyeska from inside this home? To the right is a picture of me sitting on the living room window sill. "Bearific" view I would say! Summertime is a great time to visit Alaska. It stays light until after midnight here, which gave me lots of time to explore, but sometimes I would just sit and watch the mountain from inside this vacation home... And every so often, some daredevils would parasail off the mountain above and I'd watch them as they gently drifted down to the valley floor... Way-cool!
You can tell that the owners have spent a lot of time making the inside of this home a special haven. The kitchen was great with granite counter tops and all the conveniences of home, plus the huge jetted bath tub on the main floor was just the thing to sooth tired bear muscles. My new buddies, Mike and Don really liked relaxing with a game of pool after a full day of exploring... and their wives, Carolyn and Jan enjoyed reading in the comfy cozy couches and chairs around the fireplace and also in the TV room. I had some great naps here and even VRBO Webmasters Dave and Lynn found it hard to keep their eyes open in this great comfortable home... Beary-beary nice!

P.S. In case you didn't know, salmon is one of my favorite foods... and there's no better place to find fresh salmon then here in Alaska. But, if you're looking for a great change of pace, try the "Double Musky Inn" (about a mile from this home)... believe it or not, it has great Cajun food, and large portions... Check it out!
