How to Move Up the List

Q. How can I move my listing up the list?
A. Within each city/location, listings are sorted based upon the number of photos displayed on the listing.  Listings with MORE PHOTOS are displayed higher in the list for each city/location.

Q. How many photos can I add to my listing without extra cost?
A. Each listing created or renewed after 1/31/08 includes up to five photos at no extra cost. We highly recommend adding at least five photos to your listing.

Q. How much do photos cost?
A. There is no cost for the first five photos on each listing. Each extra photo $24 US per year. (In order to provide a level playing field to both small and large advertisers, we are unable to offer a discount on the cost of additional photos to those with multiple properties.)

Q. What is the maximum number of photos that can be displayed on one listing?
A. The maximum number of photos which can be displayed on one listing is sixteen. The first three photos are displayed in the top portion the main listing page while any remaining photos are displayed at the bottom of the listing. The additional photos can be viewed by scrolling down the listing.

Q. If two listings in the same city/location have the same number of photos - how is it decided which listing displays first?
A. In the case of a tie, the listing with a lower listing number is displayed first.

Q. My listing page includes a link to my personal site that also has photos on it. Can you count the number of photos on my personal site in determining the sort order?
A. No. The only photos counted in determining the sort order are photos displayed on the listing.

Q. I want my listing to move up the list now. Do I have to wait for my renewal time to add extra photos?
A. No, extra photos can be added at anytime. The annual fee for extra photos will be prorated on a per month basis.  Click here for instructions for adding photos.

Q. How long do I have to wait for my listing to move up the index page?
A. Your property will move up as soon as the photos have been processed and placed on your listing. Due to the number of listings that are taking advantage of this program, VRBO.com is not responsible for verifying that photos have been received. Please only select and pay for the number of photos you are ready to send. VRBO.com will not be able to offer refunds on photos that have been paid for, but never received.

Q. If my listing is the first listing to add extra photos and it moves my listing to position number 1, is my position guaranteed?
A. No. Positions are never guaranteed. It is possible for a listing to add more photos than you have on your listing and move above your listing. Also, if a listing with a lower listing number than yours has the same number of photos, then that listing will display above yours.

Q. Will the sort order guidelines ever change?
A. We have no current plan to change the sort order rules, but we reserve the right to do so. If we do change the sort order rules, we will attempt do so in a manner that will be as fair as possible to all members.
