10/6/2008 - For a memorable visit of the "old world" California lifestyle, I thought I'd visit San Juan Capistrano!

Upon entering through the front gates of this adobe-mission style home, I was instantly greeted by a beautifully landscaped and handsomely adorned front courtyard. From the prominent Spanish-style fountain to the lush landscaping, the surroundings were spectacular. Spanish tile adorned the richly appointed interior and exterior, inspiring the warmth of Spanish-California culture.

Each room provided views to a private courtyard. A few of the rooms offered direct access to the fabulous backyard with water features, a breathtaking pool/spa, and plenty of comfortable lounge furniture to soak up the peace and beauty of this relaxing setting.

This property was meant to be enjoyed both inside and out. You could instantly tell by the attention to detail that the owners had not overlooked anything. Our hosts, Ernest and Ryan, were extremely accommodating with any request we had- from booking travel arrangements to dinner reservations to greeting us with a basket full of delicious treats! Their hospitality and little personal touches made this trip one-of-a-kind. I would highly recommend a stay at their mission style hacienda in San Juan Capistrano.

The area is very rich in history and offered plenty of things to do. We visited the San Juan Capistrano Mission, the Los Rios Historical district, the famous El Adobe restaurant, and the Los Rios Tea House. All of these were within a few blocks of the property including the open air Farmer's Market we were delighted to discover.

I will always remember the sound of the Mission bells, the California sunshine, the warmth and beauty of this home and its historical location.

9/29/2008 - I’m one of the luckiest bears around, and I’ve done quite a bit of traveling, but my recent trip to the ecologically-friendly Taninah in Playa del Carmen, Mexico was both more exciting and more relaxing than I could have imagined. The layout of the property was perfect for all the members of my group, with private guest houses for us to stay in, but plenty of places for us to congregate. The older bears enjoyed relaxing by the pool and hot tub, while the young cubs hid in the private cave and pretended like they were hibernating before sliding down the water slide into the crystal clear pool. The bear cubs were able to enjoy the in-ground trampoline, basketball court, treehouse, and sandbox, plus the game room, complete with pool table, ping pong, and air hockey, while the grown-up bears took advantage of the fitness center, library, putt putt course and driving range. One of the favorite activities for us bears of all ages was swinging down the zip-line on the property and letting the cool breezes whiz through our fur. Even if we never left the house, we would still “bearly” have enough time to take it all in!

Besides the exceptional amenities and the great location, what really set this vacation home apart from other homes we’ve stayed in are the owners and on-site staff. The homeowners have really taken care to preserve the natural surroundings while offering a completely unique experience for their guests. The staff is available to take care of your every need 24 hours a day from the very start of your trip.

When we’d arrive back at the house after a day of excursions the staff was waiting with cool washcloths on silver platters – we bears aren’t used to this kind of red-carpet treatment! After a full day, we would head into our dens for the night, and find that our beds were prepared with turn-down service. All in all, the availability of the staff and the privacy of the home made for the utmost in relaxation, yet the convenience to nearby activities and all the amenities at the property kept us on the go!

Relaxing on the Lanai

9/25/2008 - The Lahaina Oceanfront Estate was better than I expected! As soon as my family and I walked through the front door, we immediately saw the wonderful ocean view which we enjoyed each day. The open floor plan, multiple windows and doorways on the main level made for a refreshing cross breeze from the ocean as we relaxed in the living room. The amazing views continued upstairs from the master and one of the three bedrooms. The bedroom beside the private pool offered the same sunsets and privacy as the main section of the home. My grandparents enjoyed the "ohana" (separate one bedroom apartment) which was perfect with minimal steps and still close to the main living areas of the home. The property layout was great for everyone in our family.

We often gathered in the kitchen overlooking the Pacific Ocean that opened to the lanai. I will always treasure the great conversations we had while grilling dinner outside in the evenings and over homemade breakfasts each morning.

Plus, the location of this beautiful property is perfect! It's within walking distance to several popular local restaurants. If you desire to prepare your own meal in the fully equipped kitchen, there's a grocery store conveniently located to the home. We even walked to the famous "Old Lahaina Luau" and "Old Lahaina Town" is just a few minutes by car. If you're considering a Maui vacation, I highly recommend Lahaina and everything it has to offer. The Lahaina Oceanfront Estate is ideal for a family reunion getaway and perfect for weddings or special events!

9/5/2008 - My family and I had a wonderful time at this luxurious home located on the slopes at the Durango Mountain Resort.

As we entered the property for the first time we were absolutely amazed by how spacious and beautifully decorated each and every room was. We fell in love with the great room, which boasts oversized sofas, great for curling up on after a long day of fun-filled activities.

The master bedroom is inviting too, with a fireplace and oversized bed that gives new meaning to a "good night's sleep." The gourmet kitchen was a perfect gathering place with all high end appliances and granite countertops. Everything we needed was right there at our fingertips.

If you are not into skiing, there are lots of other things to do here in the summertime, including rafting in the Animas River, horseback riding, hiking and the alpine slide.

Mesa Verde National Park, is only about a 45 minute drive from the house or you can catch the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad just off Main Avenue in Durango and be there in about 25 minutes.

WOW! This "beary" luxurious, three-level home has everything a traveler could ask for and more! The home features three bedrooms, each with it's own private bath. The home also has a powder room on the lower level and the top level.

The beautifully decorated family room, dining room, and well-equipped kitchen are located on the lower level. The VRBO Bear enjoyed watching the Olympics on the flat screen LCD TV in the living room! There is also a "den" on the third floor equipped with a flat screen LCD TV. There are SIX flat screen LCD TVs in this home.

Conveniently located in one of South Padre's beachfront, gated communities, this vacation home is situated on a cul-de-sac just across from the community pool and within walking distance to the beach. South Padre Island features nice restaurants, shops, bike rentals, and, of course, the beach! The VRBO Bear and his friends enjoyed the dolphin tour. There is plenty to do in South Padre Island!

8/29/2008 - Let me begin by telling you a little bit about the Island of Exuma, Bahamas. Exuma is located right at the Tropic of Cancer, 23° 26' 22? north of the Equator, between Florida and Turks and Caicos. Exuma is largely undeveloped, known for its beautiful white sand beaches and Caribbean Blue waters. It is the perfect destination if you truly want to get away from it all!

The Calypso house is located a just quick 5 minute drive from the Georgetown Airport (GGT) and conveniently located toward the center of the island, which makes it easy to do excursions to either end of the island.

We were impressed by Calypso House. It is very large with a total of 5 bedrooms comprised of 2 separate dwellings that are connected by a courtyard. The main house has 2 big bedrooms and a roomy children's room with bunk beds. The other house has two bedrooms. The home is nicely equipped with all the comforts of home, including a well stocked kitchen, comfortable furniture inside and outside, and they even supply beach towels (many beach homes require renters to bring their own.)

But the most amazing part of this home is the beach! When we walked into the living area and saw the three sets of glass doors we were overtaken by the most amazing view we've ever seen?Paradise! The water is that gorgeous Caribbean blue color. The photos do not do this beach justice!

The hosts, Kim and Leo are very personable and professional. It's apparent that they have anticipated all of your needs while you are renting their home. They also have a hard working, dedicated staff to take care of anything that happens while you are there. They'll also serve as your tour guide and they'll even prepare you a wonderful meal! I would not hesitate to rent this home again.

Anxious for another snow shoe adventure in Alaska

8/20/2008 - My buddies and I had a great vacation in this quaint house located in a quiet subdivision. It was convenient to downtown and all that we needed to get to and only twenty minutes from the Anchorage Airport. The long days did not get dark until around 11:30 PM and the sun began to rise around 5:30 AM, making summer a beary good time to visit this northern frontier. It gave me and family members much more time to go looking for others of my kind out of hibernation. Boy, did we find them. We also saw at least six moose right in the city and some relatives of the grizzly side of the family when we visited Denali National Park.

We then visited Seward and went in search of some fish. On the way we saw several bald eagles, sea lions, puffins and many other critters. We did find the fish - humpback whales! They were all way to big to get my paws on.

You can tell that the owners have spent a lot of time making this home a special haven. It was very clean and had everything that we needed to enjoy our end of summer vacation. Beary-beary nice! Halibut is one of my favorite foods and there is no better place to find fresh halibut then here in Alaska. But, if you're looking for a great change of pace, try the "Brew House" which is just minutes from this property. They brew their own root beer, cream soda and have beary good non-alcoholic Mojitos. Enjoy your vacation at this property the next time you venture off to Alaska.

8/20/2008 - Come to Alaska and be mesmerized by the beauty and magnitude of the “final frontier.” From the moment you arrive, you will be awe struck by the beautiful landscape. On the way to the property we were welcomed by three moose waiting for us along side the road. The first thing my bear buddies noticed when we entered the home was how spacious and clean it was. As we ventured out we were pleased at how convenient this vacation rental was to restaurants, grocery stores and various other activities. It is situated on a very quiet street with a heavily wooded area and wetlands all around.

Any bear traveling alone, with friends, or with his bear family would enjoy this spacious three-level property where there is plenty of room available for a corporate retreat, family reunion or a vacation getaway.

Features include: Modern kitchen, very large bedrooms for peaceful nights rest after fun-filled days of exploring any number of activities. 8/12/2008 - The incredible location of this townhouse will make you never want to leave Estes Park. Just steps from the Big Thompson River, it is a great place to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature.

The kitchen was big enough for our large group to hang out, cook and eat together. The pictures do not do this home justice. There are many amenities that make this place feel like home. I could have hibernated all season in these comfortable beds!

The local YMCA and downtown Estes Park are about a 5 minute drive. There are hiking trails and beautiful scenery all around, including a great view of the gondolas.

If you are looking to have a place to relax and get away from it all; or a place to eat, shop and enjoy downtown Estes Park, this is the place for you!

8/12/2008 - Twin Sisters Chalet is a treasure in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Estes Park, Colorado! I was welcomed by the owner with a thoughtful gift basket. This beautiful property is part of a fourplex in the hills above Estes. It is quiet, peaceful and in an absolutely gorgeous location. Elk roam about the property as if it were their own.

The large, open kitchen is fully stocked to meet all of your needs. Most of the lights in the house are equipped with dimmer switches, creating a warm atmosphere in every room. That chalet is tastefully decorated and extremely clean.

The property is a wonderful blend of antiques mixed with modern style and convenience. With a very rich history, this property was once a working restaurant and was later turned into condos which have been family owned since the 1970’s.

There is nothing like getting away from it all in the majesty of the Rocky Mountains. You are close to town as well as Rocky Mountain National Park.

8/6/2008 - This summer, the Bear was stuck in the middle of a record setting heat wave and an escape to the mountains was just what was needed! The Big "E" is the perfect place to get away from everything. This property is nestled on a hillside in the woods north of Bailey, with a beautiful view of Deer Creek Valley. You can choose to stay in and enjoy the tranquility, or go out and explore all the mountains have to offer. The Big "E" is located far enough away from the main road to keep it peaceful, but close enough for a quick trip to shops and restaurants in Conifer or Bailey.

There were beautiful lilies to greet me!

8/1/2008 - This charming Victorian flat is a must for truly getting the effect of living in the heart of San Francisco. It has all the modern conveniences of home with the authenticity of the Victorian era. Dramatic high ceilings with detailed crown molding and lovely sculptured light fixtures were found in almost every room. The hardwood floors throughout the flat are extremely beautiful as is the remodeled kitchen and marble bathrooms.

We were impressed by the layout of the flat with two bedrooms in the front and two in the back with a long hallway adjoining. It is extremely spacious and perfect for two families. There is a beautiful formal dining room and comfy living room with plenty of space to relax after a day touring the city! Speaking of relaxing, the beds were heavenly! We spent one evening strolling the neighborhood, picking up a few things at a local market and dining in. It was an experience in itself to soak up the ambiance of this historical place.

We have to say that the bear fell in love and left his heart in San Francisco!

8/1/2008 - This Tuscan villa apartment made for the perfect bear retreat in South San Francisco! We were minutes from the airport, which added to the excitement and anticipation. The entrance gate opened and we drove into a lovely garden of beautiful flowers on each side of the stone driveway. The owners live on site and met us for a tour before leaving us on our own to enjoy. They were most helpful and so friendly. The grounds are well kept and we had a lovely view of the hot tub and tennis courts.

From the moment we walked through the door, we were impressed by the ambiance of this warm and inviting home away from home. The Tuscan decor was exquisite. The bedrooms and their closets are especially roomy and the beds super comfy. The pullout leather sofa was easy to use and comfortable to sleep on as well. The kitchen was equipped for a beartastic meal, which was a nice change to eating out! We loved watching a movie on the flat screen after a long day of sightseeing. It was an added bonus to have a laptop computer for our use!

We were sad to leave our bear lair in South San Francisco! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I am confident that you will too!

Who says, you can't stay cool in Las Vegas?!

7/29/2008 - Viva Las Vegas! What happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas. Not when I tell everyone about this wonderful house that I visited.

The home was very comfortable, clean, spacious and extremely relaxing. Everything was so nice; the mixture of vibrant colorful walls, the kitchen - perfect for fixing any meal and the wonderful pool. I can’t say enough about the beautiful pool and waterfall. It was so much fun to play in. They even had a “cabana” type house FULL of every pool toy you could imagine. This place provided all the comforts of home including a safe, clean and quiet neighborhood.

With the Las Vegas strip and airport only 10 minutes away, this was not only the ideal house, but the ideal location. It was close to everything without being in the hustle and bustle of the strip itself. What more could you ask for?

The next time you’re looking for a getaway to the “Silver State” you will not be disappointed in this property whether you plan to visit the strip or just stay in. If you vacation in this home, you will not want to leave!

Greetings from Times Square

7/23/2008 - I love New York! There is no place like it in the world. I was “beary” fortunate to stay in this great apartment with my human friends (two adults and three teenagers) for 5 days.

The apartment was beautiful. There was so much room. We all had lots of personal space. The hardwood floors were gorgeous and the kitchen was perfect. The sitting room in the loft was a cool retreat and the two HDTVs were great for winding down. The beds were super comfy and the air conditioning was really nice after a long day of sight seeing and shopping. The laundry room was just across the hall and the front desk staff was super helpful.

This was such a perfect family vacation, it’s hard to tell you everything! The owners left us a great book about New York giving us lots of information on what to see and do. We had free Wi-Fi and were able to make reservations online.

The apartment is very close to Union Station (subway), enabling us to see the whole island of Manhattan without renting a car. There were delicatessens, grocery stores, and several coffee shops within a couple of blocks. I enjoyed the park right next to the building and made some new canine friends. From there I walked just a few blocks and could see the Empire State Building. I was able to shop on Canal Street and check out Times Square in the same day! Everywhere we went the food was amazing. I picked up a few new toys at FAO Schwartz and got a hot dog at Nathan’s on Coney Island. We even took in a Broadway show.

This apartment was conveniently located near everything we wanted to see. I just loved it. If you want to take the vacation of a lifetime, stay in this fabulous apartment. You will love it too!

Anyone for a game of pool?

7/21/2008 - Holy bear cubs, this place is amazing! I arrived with my seven new human friends and two new canine friends at this pet-friendly mountain home and had to immediately check out every room in the house. Everything was just as the photos depicted and then some! We walked downstairs, saw the pool table, and it was all over. Game on! Between the pool table and the hot tub, I’m not sure which was the bigger hit.

The home is wonderfully decorated to make visitors feel comfortable. Even the large open areas had a cozy atmosphere. DirecTV is provided in each of the bedrooms. In the kitchen we found everything we needed to cook our meals. For those of you who like outdoor barbecues, there was a nice new grill.

If you prefer to dine out, you'll find some rustic and unique places to choose from in town. Our favorite was The Red Ram! For a great after-dinner treat, we stopped at Georgetown Valley Candy Company, where they make most of their own candy by hand.

Looking for adventure? It’s all around! Check out the hiking trails, starting with the one just outside the front door. There’s also my favorite activity - fishing! Georgetown Lake is just down the hill. Scenery abounds! All you need to do is look out the windows and right up a mountain.

If you’re looking for a mountain getaway, I guarantee you won’t be disappointed with this top notch vacation rental!

7/21/2008 - This brand new, custom designed Craftsman home was built by the owners themselves! It stands out as the nicest, most luxurious home on the block! I arrived to a beautiful bouquet of fresh cut flowers, a bottle of California wine and a block of Italian truffle cheese!

The 8 foot tall French doors with glass throughout add to the sheer beauty of this beach home. No detail was overlooked and this home has it all, from dimmer switch lighting to radiant heated flooring to intricate tile and slate designs. The beds and bedding are so elegant and comfortable that I wanted to bring them home with me.

Outside there were multiple slate patios to choose from to enjoy the great views of the Marina and the Harbor. The gardens and landscaping make you feel like you are staying in a tropical resort. This home has everything you could possibly need for the perfect vacation.

The location of this Santa Cruz beach home is second to none! You are literally two blocks from the Beach Harbor, the Santa Cruz Light House and one of the best restaurants in town - The Crow’s Nest. Within 10 minutes of the home you will find the Beach Boardwalk (an amusement park on the water), Downtown Santa Cruz with great shopping, amazing surfing, plenty of great restaurants and more! Spectacular, Private Wine Country Retreat

Breathtaking view of the Wine Country!

7/14/2008 - This retreat is located at the end of a country road and is so secluded you won’t even know that there are other homes nearby. The property is surrounded by orchards and vineyards, and large northern California redwoods.

When I first walked into this three bedroom two bath home, I felt transported to a distant land. This home is exotically decorated in very rich and warm colors, giving it an Asian feel. I was pleasantly surprised to find that around every corner held some sort of treasure from the Far East. There were textiles, garments, statues, and artwork adorning the walls.

After viewing the collection of Asian treasures in the home, I decided it was time to cool my paws and headed outside to the pool area. The home has a comfortable sitting and entertaining area with a wrap around deck overlooking a gorgeous pool and view. I meandered down the stairs to a beautiful saline lap pool with a breathtaking view. After retracting the automatic pool cover I swam while enjoying the great outdoor sound system.

This home has everything one could need in a vacation home, from the fully stocked kitchen, the comfortable living and dining spaces, to the fabulous outdoor entertainment and pool area. So if you are planning a trip to the Russian River area or the northern California Wine Country, this is a great home to begin your excursion!

7/14/2008 - From the moment I walked onto the grounds of the Estate at Chalk Hill, I was whisked away into the lap of luxury. A lovely flower arrangement and a welcome bottle of the local wineries' finest was waiting for me when I entered! The property management team was extremely professional and courteous seeing to every detail.

This property is absolutely spectacular! From its sweeping views of the Chalk Hill Vineyards and surrounding hills, to the fabulous outdoor pool and entertainment area. Inside were remarkable top-of-the-line finishes and accessories. This truly was a magical place to begin my Sonoma County wine excursion.

I really had to tear myself away from this fabulous property to take in a few of the local wineries beginning with Chalk Hill Winery, the closest to the property. I highly recommend it. Be sure to take the vineyard and grounds tour. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

This home is situated on top of a hill with a black bottom pool surrounded by an infinity edge deck that appears to just drop off into a panoramic view. You can enjoy a picture perfect postcard view from just about everywhere, even while doing dishes at the kitchen sink!

While barbecuing at the outdoor grill area, my friends and I took in a few games of bocce ball, once again overlooking that spectacular view. At the end of the day, I relaxed in the steamy hot tub before retiring to the fabulous master suite.

If visiting northern California and the Wine Country, this Bear highly recommends a stay at the Estate at Chalk Hill. It is centrally located for an Alexander Valley or Russian River wine tasting tour. If shopping's on the agenda try the quaint town of Healdsburg, or you may choose to stay in and relax or entertain friends and family in this memorable home.

6/30/2008 - The house was incredible and way beyond expectations. The concierge welcomed us upon our arrival and gave us the grand tour. The luxury ranch style décor provided the relaxing and comfortable atmosphere we were seeking. Skylights provided lots of natural lighting. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed. A small office area also included a computer, wireless internet, and printer. We were delighted to find ocean views from the master suite and private side patio with two fountains. We liked it all!

The Santa Barbara weather was slightly overcast and cool in the mornings, but always burned off to warm, sunny afternoons. My fur is definitely two shades darker after lounging by the heated pool. In the evenings after my soak in the Jacuzzi, I enjoyed drying off by the outdoor fireplace on the back patio. Outdoor candlelight provided romantic ambiance for outdoor dining. Lights also reflected off the koi pond and waterfall beyond the back patio. Absolutely gorgeous!

Stonehouse Restaurant is a must for dinner. Its exquisite atmosphere, food, service, and grounds were unforgettable. Many other local Santa Barbara/Montecito attractions are also within a few minutes drive – beaches, day spas, wineries, and shopping. If you’re looking for that perfect retreat, don’t miss out on this amazing getaway!

6/6/2008 - Before I arrived at Heritage Place, I was expecting to find a spacious home, much bigger than the bear den I’m used to. My expectations were correct, but what I didn’t realize from the pictures was just how bright and open the home is. The kitchen area is surrounded by glass doors that can be left open to let in the sunshine. My fur keeps me pretty warm, so I really enjoyed the afternoon Pacific breezes. The deck on the third floor, which is just outside one of the master bedrooms, is bordered by three glass doors as well, allowing you to really bring the outside in.

You can enjoy the outdoors from inside the home, or you can simply enjoy the outdoors! The grounds and gardens of Heritage Place are remarkably colorful and meticulously manicured. Relaxing on the deck and admiring the property was my favorite thing to do – it was even better than a pot of honey! I also enjoyed dipping my paws in the hot tub on the patio at around 5:00 when it would just start to cool down in the evening.

Heritage Place may be a historic landmark, but it is certainly equipped with modern-day luxuries. The large gourmet kitchen with Viking appliances is perfect for a whole family of bears! The elegant stained concrete floors on the first floor even have built-in heaters to keep your paws warm if you’re visiting in the cooler months. The furnishings are not only appropriate for this historic home but also provide for the utmost in comfort. Between the pillowtop mattresses and the fresh breezes, even sleeping was a treat! I might even come back in the winter to hibernate. Each of the two master suites (which have extra beds for the kiddos) have connecting bathrooms. You can come in from a sunny La Jolla day and relax in one of the tubs or clean off under the dual shower heads.

The openness and airiness of Heritage Place can only be matched by its convenience to area shops, restaurants, and activities. The home is only 2.5 blocks to Windansea Beach, a somewhat secluded area where I was able to watch the waves break on the rocks. Other beaches are a quick drive or bike ride away (if your legs are long enough), including Children’s Pool, where I watched the seals bobbing up and down in the water. Even popular San Diego attractions like Old Town or the San Diego Zoo were just a quick 15 to 20 minute drive. (I bet you couldn’t guess that the polar bears and pandas were my favorites!) After I had all I could “bear” of the afternoon heat, it was always a treat to return to Heritage Place, which was truly the epitome of luxury and relaxation.

6/2/2008 - This beautiful three bedroom, one bath, cedar log home is an ideal place to stay during your visit to beautiful, uncrowded Moloka'i. Relax on the lanai and view the ocean, where you can see four different islands. You might even see a whale or two (binoculars are provided). Relax in the hammock, or have a barbeque or picnic. You'll have plenty of room on the two acre lot. The house has ceiling fans and the cross ventilation keeps you cool. There’s even a flat panel TV with satellite connection. The entire house is tastefully furnished. I was impressed by the extra amenities that included beach towels, portable beach chairs and books on Moloka'i. The kitchen had everything, and I especially liked the coffee machine. And the views were incredible!

While I was at Molokai I rode a mule to Kalaupapa down awe-inspiring sea cliffs, which are the highest on earth. I also hiked to the Halawa falls and took a cool dip in the pool beneath the waterfall. One afternoon I walked down the spectacular Three Mile (Papohaku) Beach and only saw four people.

Since I had never been to Moloka'i, I appreciated the property owner's helpful advice about all the fun things to do on this unique island. I will definitely visit Moloka'i again and when I do, I’ll be staying in this cabin on the hill.

5/21/2008 - This Papakea Resort condo is perfectly located to take in all the sites and activities of the west coast of Maui. Papakea is an older but beautifully maintained resort just minutes north of the famous town of Lahaina. The condo features a pool and putting green just steps away from the patio door. Some of the best snorkeling on the coast is just a few yards further.

The condo is decorated in the traditional Hawaiian manner with wicker furniture. The master bedroom has lots of windows allowing beautiful views of the lush gardens and pools (with koi), putting greens, swimming pool, and Molokai in the distance. The kitchen is fully furnished, and the counter and bar stools make a great desk to connect your laptop to the free WiFi...that is, if you want to keep up with the world offshore!

The owners of this condo own several other similar Papakea Resort condos so you can easily arrange for a family or other large group reunion through them. As an added bonus, they own Hawaii Rafting, one of the best West Maui dive shops with trips to Lanai, a largely unexplored island. Guests of theirs get discounts on dives! 5/20/2008 - Upon opening the front door of Hale Pali Kai and seeing the entire opposite wall of the great room wide open to the lanai, we knew we were in for a very special stay. Much of our time here was spent on the lanai, watching the changing shadows on the mountains across the valley, the cruise ships arriving and departing from the harbor, and the many surfers, snorkelers, and beachcombers below and around Kalapaki Bay.

This is pure luxury, from the upper loft bedroom with a superb pullout sofa and private bath, through the great room and kitchen, to the lower two master suites, each with a massive bathroom and private lanai. This home is designed for entertaining and comes alive in the evening when the sun goes down and the lights of the nearby resort come on. My friends and I spent most evenings chatting around the large granite-topped kitchen island or watching the sunsets from the lanai. The entertainment system is amazing, as are the flat screen TVs throughout the home.

Everything you'll want including a wide variety of music (including traditional Hawaiian) and current movies on DVD is here. The free WiFi allowed us to keep in touch with the outside world...but we mostly ignored it! We golfed, dived, and even took a helicopter tour of the island. Everything is close by and Hale Pali Kai is the perfect place for a Bear and his friends to get away from the outside world.

5/6/2008 - The Plantation Cottage is a tropical oasis. The Encinitas, California, vacation property is surrounded by lush tropical landscaping. You will feel as if you have escaped to Hawaii or a Fijian resort.

The interior of the cottage is luxurious with every modern convenience. The vaulted ceilings and wood beams create a large feel to this one-bedroom, one-bath cottage. The many windows and skylights also enhance the bright open feeling at this vacation rental. Entertainment and electronics are not lacking in any way with four plasma TVs and an integrated sound system. This cottage also provides the perfect place for business travelers with wireless internet, a fax machine, and copier all provided.

You can also enjoy a fire place and lounge in the front of the property, or a fire pit and additional seating area in the back. Perfect for enjoying good conversation and yummy food in the outdoors. The authentic cedar spa and jets made for wonderful evenings of relaxation, and we thoroughly enjoyed the flat screen TV and mood music provided in the outside hutch.

Let me tell you about the local scene in downtown Encinitas. We enjoyed a delightful breakfast at the 101 Diner on their outdoor patio, and downtown is filled with fun shops, boutiques, surf shops, cafés, and many unique restaurants. Fun at the beach was only a few minutes away.

The owner was very helpful and offered suggestions for local dining. His friendly black lab also made us feel welcome and right at home. The Plantation Cottage is an amazing get away. You will have to come and see for yourself. The tropical, lush landscaping, cedar barrel spa, palapa, and cool breezes are waiting for you!

I really had a blast in the game room!

4/30/2008 - This is a truly magnificent luxury Santa Barbara oceanfront property with tremendous attention to detail and terrific owners. The pictures on the website hardly do it justice – the views are stunning, and the traditional Cape Cod architecture of the home strikes a perfect balance between casual and stylish. We went with three couples and there was plenty of room for everyone. Each couple had a room with beautiful ocean views and top-quality bedding. The house is very well outfitted with entertainment systems, furnishings, books, and all the amenities needed for cooking and enjoying the home. The gourmet kitchen is of the highest quality, worthy of any chef, and includes a large farm table situated against the backdrop of the wonderful ocean views. The house is located on a steep cliff, with stair access to the beach about 50 yards down the road. We saw whales, dolphins and seals during our visit.

The owners were fantastic – greeting us at the airport and taking care of our every need – including the provision of extra bicycles, the arrangement of a wine tour, and a chef that prepared snacks for our arrival and an amazing multi-course dinner during one of our three nights in the home. The property is a short drive into downtown Santa Barbara (a couple of us biked into town from the house) which offers lots of shopping and restaurants. But overall the house is pretty tough to leave with its many amenities including an outdoor fire pit overlooking the ocean, hot tub, swimming pool, and extensive game room with a pool table, video games, and the completely addicting “Earthshaker” pinball machine. It also has an amazing movie theatre…which we used several times…it really felt like getting away to the movies with true theatre-quality sound and video.

This is an expensive rental, but one where you’ll get what you pay for. It is as luxurious as any 5-star hotel with the space and comfort for one or two large families. We didn’t bring the kids, but they would have really enjoyed it. Parents with small kids might be a little paranoid about the bluff, so be prepared to be on guard if your children are overly curious in this regard. Overall we’d rate this one an easy “10” and recommend it unequivocally! Thanks so much to Jay and Kari Ann!

4/21/2008 - I had a wonderful time in this spacious four-bedroom home in a lovely setting in Islamorada. Upon our arrival, we were personally welcomed by the owner and given a tour of the house. The owner was kind enough to take time to tell us about favorite local restaurants and sights to see. The home is wonderfully light and airy feeling. There is plenty of room for everyone to relax and enjoy the tranquil setting, fish from the dock, soak up the sun on the decks or in the pool, and watch the boats, fish, and birds on the canal and bay. The sea breeze was refreshing, and watching the palm trees dance in the breeze was calming. Although the nightlife and activity on Islamorada is only minutes away, the home is peaceful and quiet, and instead of noise, we heard the gentle sound of the sea.

Islamorada is perfect for boating and fishing and is only a few minutes’ drive from Key Largo where you can dive and snorkel to your heart’s content. We had a pleasant drive to Key West, making many stops along the way to view the plants and wildlife of the Keys. The view from the famous Seven Mile Bridge is beautiful with the blues and greens of the ocean and gulf dotted with boats. You’ll enjoy your taste of the tropics in Islamorada.

4/21/2008 - I can’t think of anything better than heading to Palm Springs to enjoy some much needed sun after a long winter's nap! What a thrill it was to stay in this Palm Springs home.

This Palm Springs vacation home invites you back to a time when Hollywood movie stars retreated to this warm climate for socialization, golf, and much needed rest and relaxation. It’s located in central Palm Springs in what’s known as the "Movie Colony" neighborhood.

It is apparent that time and design have made this home a special place. Whether outside or inside, you’ll enjoy the classy feel of the era of the glamorous lifestyle. The well appointed retro interior design and open floor plan with floor to ceiling windows, boasting a view of the pool area and backyard, makes one take a deep breath and reach for something tall and cool.

With special touches like the interior/exterior sound system, remodeled full kitchen, and flat screen TVs, there was no lack for home entertainment. And we found plenty of shopping, restaurants, and entertainment nearby.

In the evening, we could not decide whether to be outside or inside! We enjoyed balmy nights with the beautiful and subtle outdoor lighting and a starry night sky and we were pampered inside looking out at the glowing pool inviting us for a night swim. I found the "Grand Old Dame" enchanting and often spent time day dreaming of myself in a bygone era, fully expecting Frank Sinatra to come around the corner!

Located halfway between Panama City Beach and Destin, South Walton Beach provided a quiet, relaxing getaway during a busy season in Florida.

I had the pleasure of visiting Tagganale, a beautiful new condo right on the beach. But this wasn’t like any condo – it was one of only three other units to share its oceanfront pool and spa. Top notch furnishings completed a luxury vacation that was well beyond our expectations.

4/3/2008 - From the moment I stepped into this bright, airy Kure Beach house, I knew it was just what the bear doctor ordered. With everything from the comfortable, inviting furnishings to the expansive back porch, I felt immediately at home.

Sitting poolside on the back porch with only a few steps beyond to beautiful Kure Beach, I felt the tension slip away. Five large bedrooms and four baths made it a wonderful place for family and friends to gather. I especially enjoyed soaking in the large master bathtub after a long day of sightseeing.

Historic downtown Wilmington is just 20 to 30 minutes away, and there you will find wonderful shops and restaurants, guided tours and more. Kure Beach also offers shops, restaurants, a wonderful aquarium and miles of beautiful beach to explore.

3/21/2008 - Wow, everything is bigger and better in Texas! We had a great time staying on Lake Conroe. We loved being right on the lake because there is so much to do, and we were never bored. We had fun water skiing, jet skiing, house boating, and Papa Bear swam in the lake. But if you'd rather relax, then you can just sit on the dock and enjoy the beauty of Lake Conroe like Mama Bear did! There are also plenty of restaurants and stores around the Lake, so you never have to travel very far to get what you need.

If staying on the lake wasn't enough, having such a nice house to stay at made it even better. This house had everything we needed to make us feel right at home. We were very pleased with the fully stocked kitchen, beautiful granite countertops, new appliances, and handcrafted cabinets with detailed crown molding. We loved the safari décor and the detail to each piece. The master bedroom was wonderful with the king-size bed, deck right off the master, Jacuzzi tub, walk-in closet, double sink and large shower.

We loved being in a nice quiet town like Conroe, but being close enough to a major town that we could drive there if we wanted. There was a mall within 15 minutes, more restaurants then you could eat at, and if you wanted to drive to Houston, it was just another 45 minutes further with tons more things to do.

We are already planning our next trip to Lake Conroe in the future. I hope you come and experience all Texas has to offer!

3/20/2008 - I had a ‘beary’ wonderful time visiting Dolphin Watch on Galveston Island in Texas! This property is everything I need in a vacation home. I especially loved the satellite TV in every room while relaxing at home after a day of fun on the island. I enjoyed hearing and seeing the beauty of the ocean from the spacious front deck. Having an outdoor sink or shower is a must after spending time on the beach, and this property had BOTH available for my use. It was a great!

The layout of this home fit my bear taste perfectly. The kitchen was ‘beary’ nice to cook in. (You’ll love the granite counter tops!) The home was clean, and the décor was lovely – just take a look at the photo of my “swim with the dolphins”! The home is conveniently located a short distance away from the hustle and bustle of the city. If you’re planning on visiting Galveston, you’ll be sure to feel ‘beary’ at home at Dolphin Watch.

2/27/2008 - My visit to the Elk’s Lodge, Suite 1902 at Westgate Resort in Park City was a celebrity’s dream. I received VIP treatment from the moment I arrived. Our host, Kevin, along with the front desk staff, greeted our party in the lobby to answer any questions, and both were available around the clock for anything we might need. They even provided ski storage plus the service of a staff that will dry your skis and lock them up for you. So if you spend a long day on the slopes, let them take your skis, quickly return to your room, and then relax in front of a blazing fire. Our host even made dinner reservations for us. Now that’s service!

My favorite part of this vacation rental is that it offers something most vacation rentals don’t, and that’s room service. You can order breakfast, lunch and dinner, if you wish, from the resort’s fine restaurant. This suite is perfect for a romantic getaway with a full service spa for that much needed massage after a day of skiing. You’ll also love the beautiful indoor/outdoor pool that’s open year-round. Yes, this is resort living, with all the service and amenities you’d expect from a luxury resort at a very reasonable vacation rental rate. Thank you, Kevin, for a most enjoyable and memorable stay!

2/26/2008 - This immaculate Carlsbad vacation home is wonderful for all seasons. Boogie boards were provided for the sunny beach days. Rainy days were cozy by the warm fire and underneath the fluffy down comforters. Just perfect for hibernating!

The kitchen was big and had everything I needed to make my yummy porridge, which came out juuust right! After a long day, my bear honey and I were able to relax in a nice big bubble bath. We also appreciated the bassinet that was provided so we could enjoy ourselves while our little bear cub slept. The quiet neighborhood was priceless and allowed us to truly relax and get rejuvenated.

The location of this home was beary nice. It was difficult for us to decide whether to go to the beach or to the outlet mall. Other nearby attractions include the famous flower fields and LEGOLAND California. There were also several yummy eateries nearby, including Sammy's Woodfired Pizza, Island's Fine Burgers, Ruby's Diner, and T.G.I Friday's.

With all of the fun things to do and see in Carlsbad, I wish I could've stayed longer in this wonderful house.

2/6/2008 - This wonderful three-story villa on the beach in Cancun was a wonderful place to visit – so close to the beach that the waves sang me to sleep every night. And my Cancun beach rental provided peaceful moments away from all the exciting nightlife of Cancun! Each of the three lovely bedrooms has a television with satellite TV, and the home includes marble floors, a well appointed kitchen and even books to read in the spacious living room.

I went parasailing on the beach just outside my back door, enjoyed a Mexican fiesta and horse show at a local dressage and polo club, danced the night away in the nightclubs nearby, and spent hours walking the beach and soaking up the sun by the pool.

With beautiful views, a quiet location close all of the exciting nightlife of Cancun, and plenty of room for family or friends, this villa is mucho excelente!

Relaxing in this elegant urban home

1/16/2008 - Don’t miss staying at this beautiful, early twentieth century Victorian house located in the heart of the city of Denver. With its beautiful moldings around the doors, windows and ceiling and original hardwood floors, this Denver vacation rental was definitely one of the most unique houses this little bear has visited. Papa Bear said it was one of his favorite properties that he’s ever stayed at.

We loved the warm and inviting paint colors, exposed brick, beautiful light fixtures and antique decor. We felt at home right away. The beautiful, fully stocked, updated kitchen made it easy to cook all our meals. We also loved the unique fireplaces all over the house and all the conveniences of home.

This vacation home is within walking distance to the 16th Street Mall, and with so much to do downtown, you will never have to go very far to have a great time. Enjoy great restaurants like the Cheesecake Factory, Maggiano’s and Wolfgang Puck, just to name a few.

So come and experience all Denver has to offer. I know you won’t be disappointed!

1/15/2008 - Nestled into the side of the mountain and surrounded by an abundance of pine trees, the Cabin in the Pines offers a respite from the real world. The three cozy bedrooms and roomy bathrooms were "just right" for my bear family and friends!

The rustic elegance of the interior is enhanced by the breathtaking view of the mountains from the deck! The well-equipped kitchen and dining area accommodates a full gourmet dinner for eight. We found the shuttle stop, which is just a few steps from the cabin, provides quick service to the ski slopes.

A dip in one of the two steamy hot tubs is enough to soothe the aches of any active cub after a full day of skiing, snowboarding, hiking or sightseeing. If a trip to Keystone is in your future, be sure to check out the Cabin in the Pines. You will be happy you did!

1/14/2008 - Aloha! I was looking for a secluded and peaceful place to hibernate for the winter when I heard that "Gilligan’s Island" was filmed in the beautiful cove, Moloaa Bay Cove, less than a mile from this Kauai vacation rental property.

When I arrived, I found a quiet and quaint place to relax with an abundance of tropical fruit for me to forage for and enjoy from the trees on the property. This Kauai vacation house is centrally located to most everything I could have ever wanted to get to on the island. It was also only a five-minute drive to a smoothie and fruit stand with a variety of unique refreshments to enjoy.

1/11/2008 - Our visit to this brand-new Colorado condo in the Rocky Mountains was such an exceptional one! A couple of our favorite things about this beautiful resort condo were the extremely comfortable beds and the two new HDTVs! You’ll also love the top-of-the-line touches like granite countertops in the gourmet kitchen and bathrooms, leather furnishings, gas fireplace, jetted tub in the master bath and high-quality linens. Walk out of the complex to the two outdoor hot tubs or hike the paths around Lake Dillon. (Bike in the summer!) Parking in the secure garage was very nice when we arrived on a snowy day.

1/10/2008 - This beautiful two-story Kauai condo is located in the elegant Poipu Beach area. When you enter the property you are greeted with warm colors and the sounds of the surf right out your back door, filling the residence through the slatted windows. Inside, the condo is beautifully finished with wood and tile floors, new appliances in the kitchen, beautifully finished bathrooms, tasteful decorations, and all the other conveniences of home.

I was tempted to curl up and begin my hibernation, but I got so involved watching the whales from the patio, I could not pull myself away. Then in the two coves at the bottom of the cliffs to either side of the property I spotted several green turtles and could not decide whether to watch the whales or the turtles. If you get tired of sitting and watching everything going on around you, may I recommend a lovely stroll on Poipu Beach that is only minutes away.

I was very sorry to see my stay come to an end and hope to return to this Kauai paradise soon! Try to take in this property for a truly relaxing vacation in this Hawaiian paradise.

12/27/2007 - My recent visit to a cozy Laguna Beach cottage was ‘beary’ special. The yard presented orange and avocado trees full of produce to enjoy and flowers so delicate and colorful. The wall of French doors to the front deck opened the entire living space to the beautiful Pacific Ocean. The view of Catalina Island on the horizon and of the sunset will take your breath away.

A multitude of quilts, pillows, and art really make it feel like a place a bear could relax and take a great nap!

12/23/2007 - VRBO Bear here! Greetings from Henderson, NV! My friends and I stayed in this GORGEOUS three-bedroom, two and a half-bath Lake Las Vegas condo, and it was perfect. The view of the golf course is amazing, and the condo has every detail a bear could ask for including a fireplace to warm my paws while I watched a movie on the LCD TV.

From the condo, we were just a short drive to The Strip and even closer to Sam Boyd Stadium – close enough to be a part of the fun without the lights and sounds to disturb our quiet time.

My friends and I had a 'beary' good time staying in this Las Vegas condo and recommend it to families and couples who want to get away and still enjoy the fun of Las Vegas!

12/13/2007 - This beautiful gulf front condo was the perfect relaxing retreat for any beach getaway. We had plenty of room to spread out in over 2,000 square feet of living space. Located on the garden level, our Destin condo looked over the inviting pool and beyond to endless stretches of sugary white beaches. Since the condo faces directly south, we enjoyed early morning sunrises over the ocean as well as captivating red and orange sunsets.

Because this property is in the heart of Destin, several restaurants and shops were within walking distance. If you do rent a car, two underground parking spots are provided with easy elevator access. If you enjoy cooking, be sure to get your groceries and take advantage of the gourmet kitchen with everything you need to prepare your meals.

Kids and adults alike will enjoy the flat screen TVs provided in each room along with DVD players. Easy beach access straight from your sliding glass door patio makes playing in the surf or taking a stroll along the beach completely hassle free. There’s something for everyone in this beautiful Destin resort condo.

11/29/2007 - What an ideal location for a family gathering! Eleven of my family members joined me at this great Idaho cabin for Thanksgiving week. We enjoyed the warmth of the dining room with the wood burning stove, two recliners, pine wood floors and views of Ponderosa State Park out our windows. Spotting the deer and fox were a fun treat as well.

This McCall, Idaho cabin was originally just a dining area, kitchen, half bath and loft for sleeping, with the comfy feel of an Idaho mountain lake cabin. Since then, the cabin has tripled in size to a house that sleeps up to 16, adding five bedrooms, three bathrooms and two family rooms, allowing plenty of room for all of us to sleep comfortably and relax.

With its close proximity to Payette Lake and bordering Ponderosa State Park, the location is perfect! Book it soon for your family reunion vacation rental or large group vacation rental. This bear plans to go back in the summer to enjoy the lake and biking, hiking and golf!

11/29/2007 - My friends and I spent a very memorable weekend at this INCREDIBLE Breckenridge mountain home in Breckenridge, Colorado. I asked them to describe GORGEOUS “Grace Manor” and here’s what they had to say:

We enjoyed SPECTACULAR views of Breckenridge Ski Mountain from the house, the deck and the hot tub. The WARMTH of the mountain décor and furnishings welcomed us the minute we walked in. The ELEGANCE spoiled us for a weekend: the four master bedrooms each had their own TV/DVD and private bathroom. The SPACIOUS gourmet kitchen had every appliance, dish and kitchen tool we needed. 11/26/2007 - I really enjoyed my Huntington Beach, California vacation. I stayed in a beary comfortable three-story Huntington Beach vacation home with spacious rooms, comfortable beds and plush pillows to hibernate with. I was even able to take a soak in the large bathtub located in the master bathroom!

It was nice being so close to downtown - you could walk or take one of the ‘bearcycles’ that are waiting for you in the back yard. It was fun to forage through all of the neat shops, but it was difficult to decide which delicious restaurant to eat at as there were so many.

While I was in town, I got to go visit with my cousin Pooh. He showed me around his day job at Disneyland and the new Disney’s California Adventure. (I especially liked the giant bear statue carved into the stone.) But the best part of the whole trip was the wonderful views and the cool ocean breezes that my human companions and I enjoyed while lazily lounging around this beautiful Huntington Beach rental home.

If you are looking for the perfect Huntington Beach vacation spot where you can relax and have lots of fun with your ma, paw, mate, and cubs, this is the perfect vacation home for you!

11/5/2007 - Mooseback Lodge, just west of Vail, was the perfect getaway for a cozy retreat. If you like summer activities, the best golfing, hiking and fishing can be had near this beautiful mountain home. If winter sports are your pleasure, Vail, Beaver Creek and Arrowhead ski resorts offer incredible ski runs from beginner to expert, including boarding, as well as snowmobiling and ice skating.

During the end of October, I escaped for the weekend and woke up to a beautiful snowfall. Ahh, there’s nothing more relaxing to this bear than looking out on a fresh blanket of snow on the ground and beautiful frosted evergreens while sitting in front of a warm fireplace, sipping coffee.

So don’t hibernate this winter, come out and play! Enjoy this cozy mountain home with all the wonderful winter sports close by for you to participate in. Then come back and warm up with a cup of hot cocoa by the fireplace. Bring the whole family because this mountain retreat has lots of space and plenty of beds for everyone.
