Fun ski lift swing in the backyard!
6/22/2009 -
I felt right at home in this spacious house in Breckenridge! Before unloading the car, we all explored every room in this warm and inviting house, and we explored the fenced backyard. I enjoyed the freedom of frolicking in the yard with the two four-legged friends that accompanied us for our long weekend getaway at this pet friendly Breckenridge home!
Our initial tour of the home revealed many surprises! The living room has one of the largest fireplaces I’ve ever seen. Off the living room, we found the master bedroom with en suite bath, wood-burning stove, and sliding doors to the backyard and deck. The view of the mountains from every window in the front of the house is amazing! Through the dining room, large kitchen, and down the hall, there is a second master bedroom with en suite bathroom and one more bedroom with two twin beds. Off this second master bedroom is the sunroom with a pool table, which was a huge hit for this fun-loving family of six.
Hold on to your bearskin rugs – there’s more! On the lower level, we discovered a family room, three more bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a sauna! We had the best of both worlds with room to spread out and find privacy as well as opportunities for family togetherness. We found lots to do among many board games, playing cards and poker chips.
The house is just a short walk away from the town of Breckenridge and practically right around the corner from the gondola. While the kitchen has all you need to cook a gourmet meal, there are restaurants of almost every cuisine imaginable right in town. After strolling Main Street, hiking, or skiing, a nice soak in the hot tub is the perfect way to relax!
This is the perfect house for a weekend getaway, a whole vacation, or even a small reunion. I would definitely choose to stay at the Briar Rose in historic Breckenridge again!

Enjoying a taste of Paris from the studio terrace
6/11/2009 -
Bonjour Mesdames et Messieurs! The VRBO bear has just returned from this fabulous Montmartre apartment in Paris, France. The sixth floor studio provided every penny’s worth of its proclaimed “million dollar view” and the picturesque setting matched every imagination a little bear might have ever had concerning Paris.
The Arrondissement 18 location placed the VRBO bear right into the blood stream of Paris’ vibrant culture. Life’s rich pageant played out daily on the streets below the apartment and a shop for every fancy could be found within a few steps from the building. The smells and sounds wafting into the studio made the whole experience somewhat surreal. Moreover, the “City of Light” is literally laid before your feet at this Montmartre address.
Although the VRBO bear feasted liberally on Paris’ gastronomical delights, he actually managed to improve his physical conditioning during the visit. This was probably due to walking around such notable sites such as the Eiffel Tower, The Louvre, and Notre-Dame Cathedral. However, the six flights of stairs up to the studio apartment may have also contributed to his enhanced well-being. Although the VRBO bear had to say “au revoir” for now, he knows that he will return. His stay in this Montmartre apartment only wetted his appetite for more of the living, breathing entity which is the city of Paris.

Enjoying beautiful views at Wailea Beach Villas
6/11/2009 -
If you want to be pampered, stay at this beautifully furnished "penthouse villa" at Wailea Beach Villas, located right on Wailea Beach in heart of Wailea. This villa comes equipped with everything a bear needs for serious relaxing!
After a traditional lei greeting when we arrived, the staff took care of getting our bear luggage to our villa and parked the car for us. Speaking of parking, you will love the cool underground parking featuring an elevator that takes you within a few steps of the villa front door.
The fully equipped kitchen is fabulous and has everything a bear might need to whip up a gourmet meal. However, I confess that most evenings we just took a leisurely bear stroll to one of the many fine restaurants nearby. Dining was so convenient; I didn’t have to use the car.
My human friends enjoyed the nearby shopping too. As for me, I spent most of my time soaking in the sun by the pool or on the beach. While snorkeling, I saw four of the biggest sea turtles I've ever seen on the reef area just to the right of the resort. According to the resort staff, during migration season (winter months), whales are visible right from the shore every day!
There are numerous amenities that make this place so convenient. Features included big flat panel TVs, free Wi-Fi, a private lanai with stainless steel BBQ, washer and dryer in the villa as well as cooling A/C and ceiling fans. Plus, the villa was an easy walk to the workout room, pool and hot tub. There's even a pool table in the clubhouse room upstairs.
I could “bearly” get my human friends to start packing when our stay was over. They didn't want to leave, and neither did I!
The VRBO Bear
The VRBO bear with some of his newfound French friends!
6/11/2009 -
Bonjour mes amis! The VRBO bear has just returned from the Sheherazade property in Cavaillon, France. The beautiful retreat was everything he had always imagined France to be… picturesque, historic, and charming. In fact, the Sheherazade Cottage was so comfortable that the bear was hard-pressed to travel outside the restful and private grounds. As you can see from his photo, the VRBO Bear made several new friends and enjoyed a cornucopia of local cuisine… including, of course, delicious honey from the Luberon Area of Provence.
Nonetheless, with advice and directions from Monika, the VRBO bear ventured out daily to explore the wonderful locations surrounding him in the south of France. The Sheherazade property provided easy access to so many nearby adventures that the VRBO bear actually lost weight in spite of his unusually high and thoroughly savored caloric intake.
Everything about this European vacation was satisfying and interesting. However, nothing was more delightful than getting to know the property owner Monika and her assortment of furry friends. As with all great vacations, the time passed much too quickly and the VRBO bear could only say… c’est la vie!

Soaking up the Sun in Capo Beach!
6/8/2009 -
The Blue Eyed Bear Soaks up the Sun!
My most recent vacation adventure brought me to beautiful Capistrano Beach in Southern California’s Orange County. When I stepped out onto the vacation home’s very private beach to soak up the sun, I discovered the delightful sand under my paws.
My human friends cooked up a fabulous dinner in the fully equipped kitchen while I sat out on the upper deck to watch the sunset. As the sun sank into the ocean, my companions built a bonfire on our private beach. We roasted marshmallows and counted the stars under the bright moonlit sky.
There were two large bedrooms on the lower level of this home offering plenty of accommodations for my whole clan (the house sleeps 12!). The garage had surf toys, including games to keep everyone in my party occupied. We played air hockey, foosball and ping pong!
In addition to the two downstairs bedrooms, the upstairs of this beach house featured a large room for relaxing, fixing a snack, playing games, watching TV, or just listening to the sound of the surf only a stones throw away. This room was absolutely fantastic!
Each morning we enjoyed our freshly brewed coffee out on the sand, as we made our plans for the day. There were so many local activities within a short drive - the only question was… what aren’t we going to do?
Ideally located between Dana Point Harbor and beautiful San Clemente, the home was convenient to movie theaters, shopping, and wine tasting. Just 10 minutes north, we visited The Historic Mission and quaint town of San Juan Capistrano where the “famous “ swallows return each year!
If you’re seeking Southern California sunshine, beachfront bliss, and culture, this is the perfect vacation home for you.

A picture perfect view from the lanai!
6/8/2009 -
When you come to this beautiful vacation rental located in the newly developed Houna Kai Resort, be sure to pack your swimsuit and be prepared to enjoy the perfect Maui weather. If you are looking for the privacy and comfort of a vacation rental combined with the luxuries of an upscale resort (i.e. cocktail service at the pool), then look no further.
The Honua Kai Resort was ideally located along the shore of Kaanapali Beach. As you can see from my photo, we enjoyed the picture-perfect view of the ocean from the lanai. The location created the ideal environment - not too hot, not too cool, but just right. The folding glass wall feature was just plain cool. First thing in the morning, we'd open the glass wall to enjoy the Maui salt-water breezes inside the rental.
Speaking of the rental - WOW! The owners spared no expense finishing and furnishing their property. The kitchen was fit for a professional chef with high-end Viking appliances. The bedrooms were spacious and the beds were not too soft, not too hard, but offered the perfect level of comfort. To top it off, the bathrooms were incredibly spacious and featured spa-like luxuries.
Although the comforts of the rental made it difficult to leave, we managed to make it out the front door. The pool didn't let us down. There was a large infinity pool with an attached kiddie pool and two hot tubs. The water temp was not too hot, not too... (you know where I'm headed)... but, perfect. If you find yourself getting thirsty, don't fear- every 15 minutes the wait staff comes to take your order, so there's no need to leave the comfort of the pool. If you seek even more pampering, private cabanas are available to rent. Plus, they are building an additional pool that will have a slide and water features for the whole family to enjoy!
The beach was footsteps away from the pool. The kids enjoyed building sand castles and playing in the water. Papa enjoyed burying the kids and mama in the sand. After wearing ourselves out, we washed off in the showers and headed back to the pool and BBQ'd some lunch.
Given the rental's prime location, we took advantage of sightseeing around Maui. Lahania was a convenient 5-10 minute drive down the coast where we took a boat tour, enjoyed shopping and went out to dinner. We also visited the "Baby Beach" which is ideal for toddlers because it has no waves. Mama and Papa managed to slip away from the kids for a day and enjoyed the adventure of zip-lining through the hills of Maui.
We wish we could have enjoyed all the activities Maui had to offer (golfing, surfing, helicopter tours, volcanos, waterfalls, etc.), but we ran out of time. If you stay at this rental, you’re central to everything. Best of all, the gracious hosts ensure you are comfortable and help you plan to get the most out of your Maui vacation.

Enjoying the beautiful garden view from the lanai!
6/8/2009 -
If you want to live like the locals, look no further than this modern and tastefully-furnished home in Hawi Town on the Big Island of Hawaii. With 3 bedrooms, it has plenty of room for a bear and several cubs. The cubs' room came equipped with a TV/DVD/VCR and Disney videos. Both bathrooms had beautifully designed special features. The master bathroom featured an oversize shower and the second bathroom had an oversize tub. The living room had helpful local area guidebooks, great novels for beach reading, games, and even, yoga mats. Plus, the flat-screen TV and satellite access meant we didn’t have to miss any of the latest NBA playoff action while on vacation. These thoughtful touches made us feel right at home!
Huge windows and sliding doors made it easy to enjoy the island’s lush beauty from any location in the house. The modern kitchen and outdoor grill had all the essentials for us to cook at home. Just down the street, we were able to shop for local fruits and vegetables at the town stand.
The yard was gorgeously landscaped and private. During the day, it was fun checking out the unique plants and trying to catch sight of the well-disguised chameleons. At night, it was wonderful to just lie on a blanket and look at the sky. If you enjoy stargazing, you’ll be amazed at how many more stars you can see out in the country.
Driving was a pleasure given the lack of traffic and beautiful scenery. The drive to Waimea Town from the house was especially scenic. Being on the north side of the island, you are close to some less-travelled sites. Popolu Beach was a terrific black sand beach just a short drive and hike away--and you won't have to fight for your little patch of sand like at the crowded resorts. The local surfers and boogie boarders were a treat to watch.
Cy, the Kama'aina caretaker on the property, was a great resource. We chatted with him every morning on our way out to get suggestions and directions on where to go. He even helped us get our laundry washed and dried while we were out sight-seeing.
Thank you to our hosts for a delightful and relaxing vacation!

Enjoying the fire and the amazing view!
6/4/2009 -
This house has an ideal location in Breckenridge and offers one of the best views of the mountains. It is minutes from the ski slopes and Main Street, yet it feels private and secluded. A bear needs to feel at home in the wilderness. When you stay here, you experience the best of both worlds. My friends and I could not have found a better place to spend the weekend!
I packed the golf clubs and spent a day out on the course. After a day of golfing, it was time to soak my bear bones in the private hot tub. I put on my favorite tunes and listened to the music through the great outdoor speakers while I took in the amazing view. At night, the stars seemed to go on forever and ever.
A big breakfast for a bear is a must. This kitchen was perfect for my large appetite. With a double oven and 5-burner cook top, meals were a breeze. The huge kitchen table near the big bay window makes you feel like you’re sitting right on the edge of the mountain. I wanted to spend all morning enjoying the sun-splashed, snow-capped mountains. The house has an endless amount of windows, all providing great views of the huge Rocky Mountain peaks.
I spent a warm afternoon on the deck and spotted a red fox hunting on the hillside. A late afternoon rain shower gave me a chance to enjoy the cracking fire in the great room while I watched a storm roll in over the mountain side.
This home is absolutely spectacular. You will not be disappointed when you stay here. It just doesn’t get better than this!

Relaxing in the peaceful master suite at this beautiful Denver home.
6/2/2009 -
Over the long weekend, my best bear friends & I relaxed at this fabulous Denver area home, where we had everything we needed for a luxurious vacation. We loved being close to the beautiful, open-air Southlands Mall, with a great selection of restaurants and shops. This Denver vacation rental house was super convenient to the airport and downtown Denver. Plus, it was just a short drive to the Rocky Mountains!
This beautiful vacation house was perfect for a family or group gathering. The home had five bedrooms – three with private baths – and each of the beds was “beary” comfy for the ideal vacation hibernation. The master bedroom suite was very sweet indeed, with a lovely sitting room and a spa-like bathroom.
The gourmet kitchen and elegant dining area was great for hosting a crowd and had everything we needed to prepare a few homemade meals. Backing to a park in a quiet neighborhood, the backyard patio area was pretty and peaceful. Each evening, we loved sitting around the gas firepit. When you visit, be sure to bring some movies to enjoy in the amazing home theater!
Whether you need event lodging in Denver or are just looking for a little Colorado rest and relaxation, you will love staying in this beautifully furnished, large, and luxurious home in southeast metro Denver. We could hardly “bear” to leave!

Aloha from the sunny south shores of Kauai!
5/29/2009 -
This home was uniquely architected by the owner’s father to take full advantage of the incredible ocean views. You can hear the waves crashing upon the shore from every room throughout the home. The open living room features lots of windows and a large seating capacity to comfortably admire the awe-inspiring surroundings.
Whether you’re traveling as a bear family of four or with a larger group, this home features four bedrooms to accommodate eight guests. The three full bathrooms gave everyone in our group privacy they needed in the mornings while getting ready.
If you’re traveling with a gourmet chef bear or simply someone who has a passion for cooking, the fully-equipped kitchen has everything you’d need. The large table and benches made of “monkeypod” wood in the spacious dining area were perfect for entertaining during the evenings we opted to dine in. Plus, the outdoor gas grill was great for cooking up a Hawaiian-style BBQ.
The beauty of this home is evident inside and out. Both the lanai and luxurious hot tub on the deck overlook the blue Pacific Ocean. After an active day of sightseeing, this bear relaxed in the hot tub which had a soothing underwater light show with changing colors. The beautiful landscaped yard lush with tropical flowers featured a refreshing outdoor shower. It was perfect after a long soak in the hot tub or a swim in the ocean.
Did I mention this home is located just a stone’s throw away from the beach? While playing at the beach, VRBO’s bear friends saw sea turtles and dolphins! The home is also in close proximity to fine and casual dining, golf, shopping, snorkeling, etc. Just a block away from the home we discovered “Brenecke’s”, one of our favorite restaurants on the island!
Kauai, the “garden island” is not as touristy as some of the other Hawaiian Islands yet there are so many attractions to see! We enjoyed a train ride around the sugar cane plantation, a bird-eye’s view of the island by helicopter, a round of golf at the Kiahuna Golf Course and an evening luau.
The VRBO bear and his friends loved their stay at Hale Hali'a and hope to make our Hawaii vacation a tradition for years to come!
Aloha and Mahalo,

Cooking up some fun in South Lake Tahoe!
5/20/2009 -
It didn’t take long for me to get my bearings in South Lake Tahoe! I knew I was at home from the moment I set foot on the private deck to feel the fresh mountain air in my lungs and take in the beautiful forest view. No wonder so many of my black bear cousins live nearby!
Exploring a new home always makes me feel like a cub again, and this house offered no shortage of fun surprises: a welcome basket filled with yummy chocolates, two bottles of wine, and a cabinet jam-packed with board games. Though I’d envisioned a quiet night by the fire and a dip in the hot tub, after whipping up a nice meal in the gorgeous gourmet kitchen, my traveling companions convinced me to go out for a night on the town instead. I decided to grin and bear it, but after a late night at the Lake Tahoe Harrah’s casino I was fast asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow of my big comfy bed.
When my alarm clock started buzzing the next morning, I was beary grateful for the fancy espresso maker in the kitchen. Once I was awake enough to remember my embearassing performance at the penny slots, I decided it was time for a long, hot soak in the Jacuzzi tub before setting out for a hike to take in the great outdoors.
Thank you Jeff and Kim for a great weekend getaway!

Just enjoying the shade
5/14/2009 -
Upon my arrival, I was stunned by the breathtaking beauty of this tropical villa. The front yard was abundant with vibrant flowers and palm trees which perfectly accentuated the beautiful, yellow home. The owner kindly met me at the villa. He provided a tour of the property and explained how to use certain features of the house such as the inside/outside speaker system, TV/DVD, etc. Plus, he gave me brochures, great restaurant recommendations and suggestions of exciting places to see in the area which came in handy during my stay!
The home’s interior was just as meticulous as the exterior. It was well decorated with a modern tropical theme and the furnishings were very comfortable. Each night was like sleeping on a cloud as all of the beds had Sealy Posturepedic pillow top mattresses!
The backyard was simply gorgeous. It was beautifully landscaped with colorful flowers, palm trees and many other plants. Each evening, the villa’s landscape lighting created a relaxing, romantic mood. While cooking up a nice meal using the poolside grill, lounging on the outside patio furniture or taking a dip in the heated saltwater pool, the plentiful tall trees and plants provided lots of shade and privacy. Being a furry bear in such a warm city, the villa was the perfect place for cooling off. Everyday, I dipped my paws in the pool.
I greatly enjoyed my stay at this wonderful villa nestled in a tropical paradise. And with such a convenient location - just 5 minutes from the beach - you will want stay for a visit, too. It was hard to bring myself to leave!

The front entrance was so inviting!
5/14/2009 -
A little sea bird told me about this great place! The home is perfectly situated on the beach and within walking distance of the much desired town of Seaside. Upon arrival, it was love at first sight. I entered through the wrought iron gate, framed by a vine covered, lattice arch, which led me to this beautiful Seagrove Beach home. I knew my stay here would be enchanting!
I was eager to explore all the amenities I had read about prior to my arrival - from the exceptionally well-equipped, modern kitchen to the entertainment room with a pool table and jukebox. An eclectic mix of furnishings and personalized décor gave this home a distinctive “at home” feeling. The large, glass dining table was perfectly placed for enjoying the ocean views and the company of family and friends.
Upstairs , the huge master retreat is comparable to none other. Floor-to-ceiling windows from one end of the room to the other frame the breathtaking views of the Gulf. The room is complete with a king-sized, four-poster canopied bed, and a seating area including a couch, chairs and ottomans. There are two master baths and one features a steam shower! Mix up your favorite drink right there in the room at your own mini bar and watch your favorite movie on the ceiling mounted wide screen plasma TV.
The back patio offers an oceanfront, saltwater pool and a hot tub - another ideal location to relax and unwind. To complete the ambiance, an outdoor sound system is wired to listen to your favorite tunes. Grill “the catch of the day” and enjoy your meal under the pergola, while watching a beautiful sunset. If you prefer beach bathing, there are beach chairs and towels available for your use. To cool off, row out in the waves aboard the two person kayak or take a dip in the beautiful, crystal blue water. There are miles of bike paths so make sure and take advantage of the bicycles to explore the area’s scenery and attractions. You'll find many shops and cafes in nearby Seaside.
After spending your vacation in Seagrove Beach, I'll guarantee you’ll leave having a deep connection to this beachfront home and you’ll wish to return time and time again.

Luxury and charm in central Austin
5/14/2009 -
My bear family and I stayed in this central Austin home for a long weekend. We really enjoyed this tastefully decorated home with artwork and mementos from London. The house has been newly refurbished with every attention to detail - from the clever lighting to the designer touches throughout. The stylish, well-equipped kitchen allowed us to whip up breakfast in the mornings and the grill outside made dinner a pleasure as we could sit and put our paws up in the quiet neighborhood.
We were minutes away from the Central Market shopping center which made it easy to stock up our fridge and downtown Austin was only a short drive away. The house had a comprehensive guide of all the sights to see, which was very helpful. We, however, decided to enjoy the comforts of this home. The cubs enjoyed the garden and the porch out back, whilst we relaxed in the shower/steam room in the ultra-modern bathroom.
A beary comfortable stay together with the warm welcome we received from our hosts Cindy and Aram, made it a true home away from home experience.

Getting some sun on Waimanalo Beach
5/13/2009 -
This house is a water-loving bear's beach vacation paradise because the house sits on one of the finest swimming beaches anywhere! It allows easy beach access and comes stocked with boogie boards, fins, snorkels and beach towels. Outdoor showers and a beach-facing lanai ensured that this Bear could wash off all the beach sand before enjoying the nicely tiled and carpeted interior of the house.
Every room faces the beach, so you are guaranteed a beautiful view no matter where you are in the house. Plus, each bedroom has its own bathroom ensuring privacy for all guests. I woke up to a gorgeous sunrise on Waimanalo Beach. I took sunrise pictures from the lanai before brewing a pot of Kona coffee and cooking breakfast in the well-equipped kitchen. While I ate my breakfast, I watched cardinals and myna birds feed in the yard. My bear friends and I spent our days soaking up the sun and playing in the sand and waves.
Waimanalo is a small town so we did most of our grocery shopping and much of our dining in the nearby town of Kailua. Kailua is about a 15 minute drive from Waimanalo and it offers numerous restaurants, many with a uniquely island feel and Hawaiian cuisine. No matter what your appetite is Kailua has a restaurant to satisfy your hunger- pizza, burgers, Mexican food, Italian food and much more. In the mood for shopping? Kailua has everything from clothing stores to gifts shops.
Beach views, great swimming, snorkeling and comfy beds for a group of eight or ten bears make this a perfect place for a relaxing beach vacation!

Another beautiful day on Lanikai Beach
5/13/2009 -
When my Bear family and friends chose to stay in “John Walker’s Beach House” located on Lanikai Beach, we couldn’t have picked a better place to spend the week. We were welcomed by our host with a basket of fresh fruit and beautiful flowers.
This house was built in the 1920’s, but had all of the modern conveniences you want when you are on vacation. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed in order to prepare our meals.
The main house included 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The bedrooms were good-sized and the beds were wonderful to sleep in after our long days spent on Lanikai Beach. Have a group larger than 6 guests? In addition to the main house, you can also rent a guesthouse and boat house on the property.
Every morning we woke up early to view the beautiful sunrises and walk along the beach. The water was very calm due to the offshore reef, making it the perfect beach for families with children. During low tide, we enjoyed snorkeling as well as beachcombing for beach glass and shells. Plus, we had a great time going kayaking in the bay and even paddled out to the nearby Mokulua Islands.
Kailua Town was a 5 minute drive from Lanikai which made it convenient for grocery, clothes and souvenir shopping. If you don’t feel like cooking, Kailua offered a variety of restaurants including Mexican food, Chinese food, pizza, burgers and more. If you’re seeking even more shopping, eating and sightseeing opportunities, Honolulu is only a 30 minute drive. However, it’s hard to tear yourself away from beautiful Lanikai Beach!
If you are looking for a great beach getaway, this Bear says to look no further. “John Walker’s Beach House” is the perfect place to stay!

Enjoying the weather in the private courtyard
5/13/2009 -
This vacation rental is ideal for those traveling by themselves or with a spouse. You get the comforts of home in an ideal central location for the same price as a mid-grade hotel! The tasteful, contemporary furniture and finishes provided a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. Thanks to the hosts' attention to detail like fresh cut flowers on the table and comfortable bath towels, I settled in nicely and had an enjoyable stay.
Austin is known for its fun, hip atmosphere and this vacation rental is in the heart of it all on historic West 6th Street. Walk down the driveway for a wonderful Southwestern meal and margarita at ‘Z Tejas. For breakfast or lunch, try the hip Portabla Café which is a few blocks away. In fact, CitySearch selected Portabla as the #2 lunch spot in Austin. If eating-in sounds more appealing, stroll down the street to Whole Foods and pick-up some gourmet food to cook in the vacation rental kitchen. The kitchen is stocked with spices and everything else you need to prepare a home cooked meal.
Although this property is a studio by definition, you'll find the term doesn't do it justice. The thoughtful floor plan creates an excellent division of space. The private courtyard featuring a nice patio table and colorful umbrella also adds to the living space.
If you are looking to travel to Austin, TX, don't pass up this rental! You won't find a better value for the price.

Enjoying the Great Room and Fireplace
5/13/2009 -
Upon our arrival, we were greeted by music playing on the stereo and a welcoming tropical fruit arrangement in the kitchen, compliments of our wonderful hosts, Sharene and Harrison Klein. Everything was well maintained- from the woodwork inside to the wrap-around lanai and koi pond outside.
The Great Room was made up of several varieties of woods, which made this bear feel right at home. The middle of the Great Room featured a huge fireplace, which, along with the rest of the house was truly a work-of-art. The kitchen was large and well-equipped. It had a beautiful wood-topped island and all the appliances a hungry bear needed in order to prepare meals. The master bedroom was large and inviting, with a comfy king size bed that was not too hard, not too soft, but just right! If you need to do some work or check your e-mail while staying at “Hale Kakahi,” there 's a small office conveniently located right off the master bedroom. I used the high speed Internet connection to stay in touch with my Bear family and friends back on the Mainland.
I highly recommend 'Hale Kakahi" for a tropical getaway. The house is a showplace for woodwork and the grounds are immaculately landscaped. This home is truly a trip to “paradise.”

Don't miss seeing wild horses on the beach!
5/8/2009 -
The VRBO bear is especially fond of short getaways that provide comfortable accommodations, tasty local foods, and easy sightseeing. The Sun-kissed property provided each of those essentials and more. The house had all of the vacation comforts a lazy bear craves- plenty of privacy, nearby shopping, and an easy crawl to the beach. Everywhere I looked, there were enticing spots beckoning for me to enjoy a sweet, relaxing nap.
After hibernating till noon, I emerged from slumber to dine on the local versions of barbeque, seafood, or pizza. After all, it’s never too early to start putting on a little weight for next winter! Then, I sauntered off to visit one of the nearby points-of-interest including the historic Whalehead Club, the beautiful Currituck Beach Lighthouse and the famous wild horses of Corolla. North Carolina has many charms to soothe the savage bear and the Sun-kissed property offers access to them all.

Hanging out on the wraparound porch
4/27/2009 -
This Poudre Canyon home was simply gorgeous and the scenic drive to the property was just as beautiful! The interior of the 3 bedroom house was very spacious yet cozy enough to make me feel at home. During the day, I enjoyed relaxing on the wraparound deck and cooked some delicious meals on the grill. At night, I dipped my paws in the private hot tub and afterwards, stepped inside to dry my wet “fur” off near one of the two toasty fireplaces located on the main and upstairs levels of the home.
Being the hungry bear that I am, I sure love to eat. The well-equipped kitchen had everything I needed for cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner. There was even an easy-to-use coffee maker to give my morning a boost each day and get me started off on the right “paw”.
During my stay, I took a short walk down the road to the Poudre River and hiked up the Hewlett Gulch located on the north side of the river. I even caught my dinner one night by fishing in the Poudre River. The grill on the upper deck came in handy for cooking up the catch of the day!
Overall, I had a very relaxing time at this home and am looking forward to staying there again in the future.

Enjoying Snowed Inn Estes with my bear-y good friend
4/27/2009 -
Snowed Inn Estes was a great place to stay! While we were still unpacking the car, we were treated to the sight of a dozen elk coming down the hill behind the cabin. When we went inside, we were immediately impressed with the lovely rooms, each with those extra little decorating touches that added warmth and beauty to make us feel very much at home. It was very apparent that the owners love this home and want their guests to enjoy it as much as they do.
The kitchen was fully equipped with excellent cookware as well as many spices and condiments. All of the beds were extremely comfortable, ensuring a good night’s sleep. The open floor plan perfectly accommodated the dining and entertainment needs of our large group. Weather permitting, we recommend starting your day eating breakfast outside on the front porch.
The guest house offered the perfect solution for additional space if you’re traveling with a larger group. The guest house featured charming décor, a queen bed and a luxurious jetted tub! Again, the owners have truly gone out of their way to make this a special place.
Snowed Inn Estes is convenient to Rocky Mountain National Park and a variety of activities including hiking, biking, rafting, and more. It’s an ideal location to seek peace and quiet in the outdoors, but it’s also nearby to downtown Estes Park with its many shops, excellent restaurants, library, and movie theater. Remember to buy some salt water taffy at The Taffy Shop!
This comfortable, inviting home had everything we needed in a vacation home and more. Try Snowed Inn Estes for an outstanding mountain getaway destination.

We knew we had chosen the perfect place for our long weekend getaway the moment we first saw The Castle in Lake Head, California. Walking through the door, our first impression was the attention to detail. The Castle was beautifully decorated as one would expect a castle would be. The home masterfully balanced new modern conveniences with beautiful old world antiques. Marc, the owner was a very gracious host and ensured everything was perfect for our arrival. Plus, he made himself available for any questions or concerns during our stay.
Upon our arrival, we enjoyed exploring The Castle. The property featured little areas tucked away within the structure that provided something new to look at and discover around every corner. After exploring the whole house, I chose the master bedroom as my favorite out of the five bedrooms. The decision was hard since four of the five bedrooms have wall mounted flat screen TVs! The master bedroom featured a king sized bed, comfy mattress and little window seat that overlooked the valley. It was the ideal place for me to sit and read my favorite novel. The master bedroom also included a large soaking tub with a variety of bubble baths, bath salts and soaps to pamper myself.
The kitchen was a cook’s dream with granite countertops, a double oven, large refrigerator, dishwasher, and lots of pots and pans for whipping up the perfect meal. The kitchen even featured a wall mounted TV to listen to while we cooked.
While staying at The Castle, there were a variety of activities to keep us busy. Inside the house, we had fun playing ping pong, Foosball, card games and more. We spent a lazy morning sunning ourselves on deck chairs from the home’s large deck featuring scenic Shasta Lake views. Most afternoons, we headed down the hill to Shasta Lake for swimming and fishing. If you have a boat, there’s nearby places to dock and launch it close by The Castle. Additionally, Shasta Lake National Park provided opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, picnicking and hunting.
In addition to many outdoor activities, the city of Redding was only a short drive away. In Redding, we visited many of the local attractions including the Sundial Bridge at Turtle Bay, Shasta Dam and local gardens. We shopped and enjoyed a wide variety of restaurants. After a long day in Redding, we enjoyed returning to The Castle and soaking our tired paws in the hot tub as we watched the sunset.
Overall, The Castle was a perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of life. It’s the perfect place to relax and make lasting memories for any family large or small.

Enjoying the view at the Cottontail Creek Ranch
4/24/2009 -
When my bear family and I arrived at the Cottontail Creek Ranch, we instantly felt at home!
This luxury ranch retreat is nestled among some of California’s most breathtaking rolling hills. The location beckons you to enjoy the outdoors and everything the Central Coast has to offer. Whether you like to hike, fish, horseback ride, surf, or just simply hang out and enjoy some of the most awe inspiring views this home has to offer, this is the place for you!
Our gracious hosts, Roger and Susan, made our arrival special in so many ways. From the beautiful fresh cut flowers in every bedroom to the delicious fresh fruit picked right from the ranch orchards to the awesome homemade cookies, no detail was overlooked. They took us on a tour of their 850 acre working ranch and we marveled at the incredible view overlooking the Estero Bay. The fresh air carried the fabulous scent of their orange orchards and flowers blossoming throughout the property. Plus, we were free to eat anything that was ripe and ready for picking on the grounds. We enjoyed lemons, oranges, avocados and fresh herbs. It was simply amazing! The fabulous surroundings, wide open spaces and views truly recharged our spirits.
The home itself rivaled the ranch’s outside surroundings. From the historical Monterey pine floors to the custom woodwork, this home really showcased the owners’ personality and artistic flair. Susan’s whimsical artwork and Roger’s intricate woodwork throughout the home exuded warmth. They truly put their hearts and hands into making sure that we felt right at home.
Cottontail Creek Ranch featured 5 luxurious bedrooms, each with their own personal baths. Everyone had their own personal space to retreat to and relax. The home’s floor plan was perfect for togetherness and included great family gathering spots like a fully equipped gourmet kitchen, spacious dining room as well as the large living room with its massive rock fireplace. Every room had an incredible view to enjoy. We spent evenings around the great fire pit or soaking in the steaming spa reminiscing about the day’s adventures. It was the perfect home for a reunion or celebration!
If you must venture away from this private paradise, Cottontail Creek Ranch is in close proximity to the vineyards of Paso Robles, fabulous seafood in Morro Bay, and the quaint coastal town of Cayucos. It’s also a convenient home base to launch an excursion up the coast to visit Hearst Castle or explore the craggy coast of Big Sur. We have not stopped talking about our visit to the California Central Coast and the Cottontail Creek Ranch.
Thanks Roger and Susan for a great stay!

Stunning beachfront condo in beautiful Punta Mita
4/16/2009 -
My bear family & I stayed at this stunning beachfront condo for a week in March.
From start to finish, everything was first class. This third floor luxury condo was ‘beary’ spacious, beautifully decorated, comfortably furnished and totally equipped. The main living area had a breezy, open floor plan which included a gourmet kitchen, family room and dining area. The largest wall was made up of floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding doors that opened out onto an expansive deck. From the deck, the view of the beach and ocean was spectacular. The interior surroundings and oceanfront scenery were the perfect setting for relaxation. This bear family slept very comfortably in the large and stylishly furnished bedrooms which featured marble bathrooms.
The condo building was located in a private setting inside of the gates of the exclusive Punta Mita Resort. We stayed here in Four Seasons’ style for a fraction of the cost and had direct access to a beautiful beach. The location was so ideal that we reached the beach and private pools within 60 seconds of leaving the front door.
Punta Mita was the perfect place for a family vacation and the condo’s convenient location makes the most of everything that the neighborhood has to offer. The town of Punta Mita and a variety of excellent restaurants were less than a 5 minute walk away. We enjoyed relaxed, local dining at a string of superb restaurants on the beach in the town of Punta Mita. Our favorite places to eat included Sufi and Café des Artistes.
Owner Kim Henrie was super helpful and friendly. He made us feel very welcome at this outstanding property and offered great advice on the best places to visit during our vacation. As part of our stay, we had access to a full concierge service that helped us organize terrific excursions including horseback riding, snorkeling and whale watching. It was very exciting to see a couple of humpback whales close up from our boat! Our condo stay also included residence club membership privileges and we indulged in a range of sensibly priced, relaxing spa services, all in a comfortable and private beach setting.
The climate here was unbeatable. The weather in March was absolutely perfect with blue sunny skies and highs in the 80’s everyday. We had a fantastic time and hope to return again soon!

Beautiful entry into this great Scottsdale vacation home!
4/15/2009 -
This newly developed area of Scottsdale is where we found our perfect desert vacation destination! The very upscale, quiet DC Ranch neighborhood is in the gated Desert Hacienda community. Upon arrival, the private front patio entrance with outdoor fire pit provided an inviting welcome to this wonderful family vacation home. Inside, travertine floors graced the main living areas and we found luxurious, plush carpeting underfoot in the bedroom areas.
The master bedroom suite spoiled us with beautiful linens and an extremely comfortable bed. The gorgeous master bath featured an amazing shower and huge tub with direct access to the backyard pool area. Our family members loved the private, upstairs second master suite with double bed, attached bath and their own personal fridge. Three other bedrooms with double beds and shared baths provided plenty of room for the family. The den featured a sofa bed and a flat screen TV.
The backyard oasis is where we spent most of our time. The oasis included a beautiful rock and plant landscaped pool with waterfalls and hot tub, built-in grill with bar seating, covered patio for outdoor eating and entertaining and very comfortable lounge chairs. The house’s surround-sound stereo extended to speakers wired throughout the backyard so we could enjoy the tunes outdoors. This gated neighborhood has a great expansive grass area and fun playground the kids loved, just outside the front door.
VRBO owner Mike has just opened up this home and would love for you to come and vacation here. Additionally, Diane will assist you with all your needs before and during your stay. We highly recommend this beautiful vacation property for your Scottsdale vacation!

Enjoying a quiet morning in the garden patio!
4/14/2009 -
It was a pleasure returning to London, one of my 'beary' favorite cities in the world. This lovely apartment is close to all of central London but provided an exceptionally quiet place to decompress on our journey back from India. A short Tube ride took us to Harrods and the shops of Knightsbridge, one of the city's premier shopping districts. We also spent a interesting evening at the Tower of London to experience the Ceremony of the Keys. Each night, as has happened every night for over 700 years, there is a ceremony as they officially lock up the Tower. It's well worth arranging the free tickets online.
Madelyn and Phillipe, the owners are very gracious hosts and in addition to being available to answer our questions about the apartment and the city, they have a very wide selection of London and UK guide books for guests to use. As mentioned before, the apartment is on a quiet street in a beautifully restored neighborhood originally built as homes for Queen Victoria's staff. Each home on the block has a colorful garden in front and this apartment also has a beautiful, tranquil garden patio directly behind. It is a great place to spend a summer morning having a cup of coffee and reading the Times of London or the latest Jeffrey Archer novel.
I particularly liked the art in the apartment. There are several original paintings, including one of the exterior of the home, as well as a stone bas-relief of an ancient chariot and team of horses. Another similar piece can be found high on the wall in the garden patio. I also loved the marble fireplace mantel in the living room. In a word, this apartment is elegant and very well-appointed.
If your travel plans call for time in London, this apartment will provide a most memorable stay in the heart of everything you'll want to do.

Enjoying the amazing pool & hot tub!
4/10/2009 -
Once you step inside this grand Tuscan-style home, you’ve entered your own private oasis. It’s a luxurious, inviting environment with privacy and elegance. I thought I had checked into one of Scottsdale’s premier spas! Professionally decorated with the finest materials and craftsmanship, this is an impressive estate.
The royal master suite took my breath away. It featured a gas fireplace, flat screen TV in the bedroom and master bath, jetted tub, shower/steam room, 2 separate dressing areas, sitting area with coffee bar and the most comfortable bed ever! If you want to get pampered, this is the room for you. Each bedroom was beautifully appointed with luxurious furnishings, bedding and linens. I enjoyed the convenience of having surround sound stereo throughout the home. All I had to do was select the music I loved and sit back and relax in any room. The home’s 12 flat screen TVs also provided plenty of entertainment.
My group enjoyed the spectacular outdoor living area. By day, spray misters cooled us off under the covered patio. For the cool evenings, the outdoor fireplace provided a cozy atmosphere and warmth. We ate many of our meals outdoors and watching March Madness games on the large flat screen TV. Don’t miss the photos of the beautifully landscaped pool with waterfall and great hot tub. On the grounds, we also discovered a playground area for the kids, grass and horseshoe pit.
We truly received the royal treatment by Diane, the VRBO vacation rental owner of this luxurious Tuscan home. The hospitality extended by our host far exceeded our expectations! When you book a vacation at Diane’s place, she’ll make sure your stay is unforgettable! From getting a massage in your room to hiring a personal chef, Diane will help make your vacation dreams a reality. One member of our group had a 50th birthday while we visited the Scottsdale area and Diane made arrangements for her personal chef to provide a big “5-0” cake. For your special occasion, Diane will arrange to make it memorable.
The amazing thing about this incredible estate is its close proximity to the conveniences of restaurants and shopping, yet the home offers so much privacy and security that you feel you’ve escaped the city. Once we arrived, we found that we didn’t want to leave these lavish amenities.
Spoil yourself at this one-of-a-kind, stunning retreat in Paradise Valley!

Shelling at Bowman Beach on Sanibel
4/10/2009 -
I eagerly anticipated my trip to Sanibel as soon as the reservation was confirmed for this condo. It was a great place to stay - from the friendly ladies in the office where I checked in, to the complex’s wonderful amenities which included tennis courts, pool, BBQ grills and kayak rental.
The condo was bright, clean, and inviting. When I first arrived, my stomach was growling, so I decided to cook up something to eat. The condo kitchen had everything needed for meal preparation.
While prowling through the place, I enjoyed unpacking in the large master bedroom. The other master was equally roomy as was the twin bedroom. I quickly discovered the closet which housed many convenient items to use at the beach and pool. In addition, I found some great books to read and games to play.
The condo's location was great - very quiet and just a short walk to Bowman beach. It's an awesome destination to enjoy your favorite beach activity. Add to your shell collection, take long walks, go for a jog, swim, fish, tan (bring plenty of sunscreen!), watch the birds or see a beautiful sunset. The condo was also convenient to shopping and dining in both Sanibel and Captiva.
If you're looking for a great place to vacation on Sanibel, you'll love this very comfortable vacation home.

Catching a nap in the master Bedroom
4/10/2009 -
Hi … VRBO Bear here, reporting to you from Pacific Grove California, on the beautiful Monterey Peninsula.
This past week I explored the coast from San Francisco to Big Sur, (which is a lot of miles for someone with of my stature) and I needed a place to stay that would supply much needed R & R between adventures. I found exactly what I was looking for. This house has all the conveniences of a modern home, while retaining the historic feel of the old architecture. With a restful “beach cottage” feel: white curtains against soft blue walls; art reflective of the ocean and white wood work throughout - you'll feel a calm wash over you the moment you step through the door!
Perched on the top floor is the master bedroom. I felt like I was in the tree tops, with a view looking down to the bay just a few blocks below. The master bedroom contains a walk-in closet, mounted LCD flat screen TV and a “honey” of a bathroom, with a spacious shower.
The kitchen has everything you need to prepare and serve meals. There is even a grill outside (buy some local fish!), and wine glasses for sipping the famed California wine.
I could write a book on this area. WOW! The views all around the Peninsula and down to Big Sur are amazing. The 150 year old Point Pinos lighthouse is just minutes away, as is the fabulous Monterey Aquarium, Cannery Row shops and restaurants.
I visited my buddies who have a sailboat in the Moss Landing Marina (about 20 minutes North on Highway 1) and enjoyed a dingy ride up Elkhorn Slough (which I learned is pronounced “slew”), a delightful way to see birds, seals, sea lions and even some playful otters! If you don’t have buddies there - don’t worry, there is a company that will give you the tour. Also in Moss Landing are some antique shops, a great produce market, a Shakespeare Museum; some restaurants and no crowds!
Take my advice, contact the owner of this house and make your reservation NOW!

Walk to the Beach and enjoy the waves
4/6/2009 -
When I stepped into The Dunleavey, I was welcomed by the bright rays of sunshine and beautiful view through the numerous windows facing the ocean. Upstairs, I enjoyed the spacious den and the wide open kitchen which was equipped with top-of-the-line appliances and all the “bear” necessities. I was excited about the upstairs master bedroom where I could relax in the king size bed and listen to the waves crashing on the beach. I had my very own private bathroom, including two sinks, a large shower and a walk-in closet. The large windows and sliding glass door that opened to the perfect view of the beach was my favorite feature of the master bedroom. Downstairs, I had the choice of staying in one of three bedrooms, all wonderfully furnished with lots of room to invite my bear friends. In the morning, I was able to enjoy a breakfast out on the deck in the sunny La Jolla weather.
Outside of the home, I loved being able to walk to the beach and spend time surfing or just dipping my paws in the soft, warm sand. While in La Jolla, I favored the small shops and delectable restaurants, which were all in walking distance of The Dunleavey ! I was even able to visit some of my friends at The Wild Animal Park and the world famous San Diego Zoo which were within a short drive. Overall, The Dunleavey is a very relaxing beach home for a family large or small!

Relaxing in Beautiful Scottsdale Condo
4/6/2009 -
This cool and contemporary luxury condo in the heart of downtown Scottsdale is the place to be! This Optima Camelview Village condo was nicely designed with contemporary furnishings, top-of-the-line kitchen appliances, living area with 55” flat screen TV, and a great den/office area with a high speed Internet connection. The master bedroom with attached bath and king size bed featured a nice 47” flat screen TV. The second bedroom had a comfortable queen bed and very nice separate bathroom.
I loved having my own private garden terrace complete with a sunrise view to eat meals outdoors and relax on the comfy patio furniture. The amenities were great and much better than you would find in a high-end hotel resort. The Optima Camelview Village featured an indoor swimming pool, an outdoor putting green, fitness center, racquetball/basketball courts, spa and beautifully landscaped grounds! My friends and I walked to Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall to shop. Also during our stay, we ate at great local restaurants and our favorite chains near the old town/waterfront area. We loved the close proximity to the spring training ballparks and convenience to the city’s airport.
I’d recommend this place for a week or weekend getaway for two couples or an excellent alternative to a hotel for your next business trip. The Westbrook staff was very accommodating and catered to all our needs. Tim, Megan, Jennifer and Jess were very helpful with all of our arrangements and made our stay the best it could be!

Had snow much fun in Flagstaff!
4/6/2009 -
A family gathering brought me to beautiful Flagstaff, Arizona for a stay at the spectacular Timberloft which was nestled among the Ponderosa Pines.
We entered this tri-level “lodge style” home on the main level featuring floor-to-ceiling windows. I immediately noticed the warm elegance and attention to detail starting with the large open kitchen, the dining area (table set for 10 plus bar dining area!), wide roomy living area and the inviting natural stone fireplace.
The main level featured three bedrooms complete with three full bathrooms. The master suite was exceptionally luxurious with a Jacuzzi tub and flat screen tv! The loft area included additional sleeping areas and the lower level of this home had another full bedroom, with its own bathroom and private patio. There was plenty of room for everyone in our group! For family entertainment, the spacious upper level loft area featured a cozy fireplace, game room with card table, billiards and an authentic pinball machine.
No detail was forgotten in this spacious home. There are several flat screen TVs and WiFi coverage throughout the entire home. After spending the morning on the golf course and an afternoon of fun and games, my human companions cooked up a delicious gourmet dinner in the well-equipped kitchen. Later, we enjoyed a soak in the Jacuzzi with mugs of hot cocoa and watched the tree tops sparkle in the night as the snow drifted down onto the pines.
The Timberloft’s sublime location was private and quiet, yet close to many of the area’s most popular attractions. Flagstaff is on Historic Route 66 and just a few minutes to the campus of NAU and skiing at the Arizona Snowbowl. Plus, the Grand Canyon, Winslow, Sedona, Williams, or Prescott are a short day trip away! This is a perfect year-round destination for hiking, biking, horseback riding and exploration.
Whether you are looking for a cozy hibernation with your own bear clan, a romantic getaway, or sightseeing adventures, the Timberloft lodge is a first class home away from home!

Cozy Cabin style with room for a big family
4/2/2009 -
The end of March 2009 brought us an abundant snowfall and we were able to take advantage of a winter mountain getaway before the season ended. We found a cozy cabin retreat in the town of Fraser, just a few short miles from Winter Park. Although the furnishings were mountain-style, there was no roughing it here! We were delighted to find this brand new home with high end appliances and fixtures.
The home provided all the amenities we needed for a perfect, relaxing mountain vacation –a fireplace for a cozy winter evening, large top-of-the-line washer and dryer for those wet ski clothes, a two car garage so we didn’t have to scrape ice and snow off the windows, four good sized bedrooms to sleep the whole bear clan and another family room to spread out. My favorite was the steam shower. After a day of snow tubing (just a few miles away), it was a perfect way to thaw out!
If you’re looking for that perfect family mountain retreat, you won’t be disappointed in this fine cabin on Porcupine Ridge.

An amazing kitchen with everything you could possibly need
4/2/2009 -
Nestled in the pines of Winter Park, Colorado our family was in bear heaven in this luxurious, yet comfortable townhome. The friendly management team gave us a warm welcome for our long weekend getaway! Upon our arrival, we found a thoughtful gift basket awaiting us.
All five levels of the townhome were accessorized with charming décor and we discovered attention to detail in every room. Being an end unit, the countless windows offered us majestic views of the beautiful pine trees and mountain peaks. It was the perfect amount of privacy and scenery!
After a busy day of adventure, unloading and loading the car was a bearable chore with the convenience of having our own private garage that led right into the townhome. The main living room was warm and inviting with a gas fireplace, HDTV and comfy furniture to lounge around in. Featuring upgraded appliances, the classy kitchen was amazing and was equipped with every cooking apparatus imaginable! Plus, the open floor plan made for easy conversation with the cook.
The roomy bedrooms were separated on each of the three main levels, each with its own full bathroom. Off the main level, the second bedroom was perfect for toddler bear who loved sleeping in the trundle bed. The upper level featured a second living room loft with a third bedroom. The older bear cubs retreated to this cozy nook to watch movies on the big screen. The lower level master bedroom included a walkout patio with a Jacuzzi that overlooked Telemark Pond. The ambiance of the light snow and fog off the pond took our breath away!
Winter Park is truly a winter wonderland. The townhome is on the free shuttle service route to the ski resort and only a few miles away if you want to drive or walk. Gather around the fire pit with a cup of hot cocoa after ice skating in the town square or shop the boutiques after dining out in one of the town’s unique restaurants. Our family discovered a tubing hill located minutes away from the townhome. We had hours of fun playing in the snow before returning to our weekend retreat to eat and relax. Locals told us Winter Park is full of spring wildlife sightings as well as summertime activities; we can hardly wait to return to experience another season of fun!

Relaxing in the lap of luxury
3/31/2009 -
As soon as my bear family and I arrived at the “Las Vegas Mini-Castle,” we instantly knew we could look forward to a weekend of being treated like royalty. This home was an entertainer’s dream! With 10 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms, it truly lived up to the “Castle” name.
Throughout the castle’s spacious 8,750 square foot floor plan, we discovered beautiful architectural & decorating details in every room. It was breath-taking, from the majestic stonework arches to the custom marble flooring to the grand piano. This home featured high end finishes throughout, including marble tile, glistening hardwood floors, granite countertops, jacuzzi tubs, beautiful cabinetry and more. As we stepped into each room, we walked through pure luxury.
On the Castle’s second floor, the game room boasted a fantastic pool table, wet bar, TV, stereo, gaming tables and even slot machines! Adjoining the game room was a fabulous patio, featuring a beautiful view of the Las Vegas strip. However, the most enjoyable feature was the outside entertainment area where my bear family & I played each day until the sun went down. It featured a state-of-the art barbeque, granite counter top bar and outdoor kitchen area that were phenomenal! My personal favorite was the wonderfully refreshing pool with a cascading waterfall and Jacuzzi. Off the pool area, there was a fully-equipped guest house, with two additional bedrooms and one bathroom. It’s perfect for guests that prefer even more privacy.
The home’s location was very convenient and close by the Las Vegas Strip and the Las Vegas airport. Situated within a gated community that is made up of four mini castles, the Castle also prides itself on being extremely private and secure. If you are looking to entertain a large group of friends/family or plan a business getaway, then look no further! I highly recommend a stay at any one of the Las Vegas mini-castles. They are top notch accommodations with no detail overlooked.

Playing a game of pool while taking in the ocean view
3/19/2009 -
Upon entering this beautiful home, I was greeted by amazing ocean views off the spacious main living area. The warm breeze flowed through the entire house. With three different levels, this home was perfect for multiple families traveling together. Throughout the home, the large windows and sliding glass doors offered a beautiful ocean view from every room.
The large master suite had a wall of windows and opened up to a large patio deck where we enjoyed the views and sounds of the ocean. The suite also contained a beautiful pool table that provided hours of entertainment. The very large master bathroom included a luxurious spa tub, an oversized shower with six shower heads, and a steam sauna. It was perfect after a nice relaxing day at the beach!
Laguna Beach offered many opportunities for shopping, dining, visiting art galleries and much more. In town, my friends and I enjoyed a fantastic meal at The Crab Zone, which served the most delicious crab cakes we had ever tasted! It was just one of the many restaurants this friendly town had to offer.
We had an amazing time and will not forget this wonderful trip!

I love Steamboat!
3/5/2009 -
My bear family had a wonderful stay at this beautiful property. Before we even arrived, we were welcomed to The Porches by the superb staff and concierge service. They were willing to help us plan any of our activities prior to arrival and even grocery shop for us if we needed it. When we arrived, we learned about the property’s plentiful amenities and services. There was a complimentary shuttle service that could take us anywhere within the city, complimentary coffee available in the “Barn” anytime we wanted, a paper delivered directly to our doorstep every morning, and the satisfaction of knowing that if we needed anything we could call the concierge. Additionally, the property complex featured a heated pool, steam room, exercise room and game room that we could use day and night.
We were pleasantly surprised when we walked into this magnificent townhouse to discover that preparations had been made in anticipation of our arrival. There was a nice toasty fire in the fireplace and lights were on. The amazing décor featured beautiful art on the walls, a nice mountain theme throughout the whole house, and candles placed all around the house for added warmth. We quickly checked out the rest of the house to find a beautiful kitchen with top of the line appliances, granite countertops, and a nice dining area to eat our home cooked meals. Downstairs, we were pleased to find a family room with a pool table, poker table, wet bar, large flat screen tv, and another sitting area in front of a roaring fire. The little bear cubs especially liked the bunk bedroom that was all their own for the weekend. Their Mom and Dad liked the master bedroom with yet another fireplace, a beautiful bathroom with a jetted tub, big glass shower, and heated floors. Whether you are staying at The Porches with a small or large group, they offer a variety of units to accommodate any guest size.
They say there is some of the best skiing in Steamboat. So whether you are coming to ski, shop, or just enjoy the beautiful Rocky Mountains you will not be disappointed when staying at The Porches. I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.

Just rockin' in the Rockies!
3/3/2009 -
Upon my arrival to this gorgeous Estes mountain log home, I was stunned by its beauty. There were many trees surrounding the home and a handy stone walkway to the stairs which led to the front door. I made my way inside to find that the interior was just as wonderful as the exterior! I was greeted by a hanging antler chandelier in the dining room and an enormous moose head looking right at me from above the fireplace in the living room. The hardwood floors and vaulted wood ceilings were simply spectacular.
Everything I needed was conveniently on the main floor: the spacious kitchen, dining room, living room with fireplace and TV (complete with cable and a surround sound system), bedrooms, bathroom and even a hot tub! The loft on the upper level had a stunning view of the Rocky Mountains and I enjoyed waking up to the scenic views each and every morning.
Of course, you can’t go to Estes Park without doing a little souvenir shopping. This home was perfectly situated 5-10 minutes from the excitement of downtown.
Being the busy bear that I am, I needed to work while on vacation but it was no problem at all since the home had free wireless high speed Internet. After I got my work done, I relaxed by dipping my furry feet into the hot tub.
This was one weekend away I’ll never forget and I hope to make it back up the mountain again soon!

Toasting to a great beach vacaton
3/3/2009 -
From the ‘beary’ first moment I stepped into the courtyard of this fabulous seaside home, I was greeted by the gentle, relaxing sounds of water bubbling from the fountain. Upon entering the Laguna Beach home, I was immediately swept away by the breathtaking view of the beautiful blue Pacific Ocean and the sound of the waves crashing on the beach. The interior of the home had a homey seashell décor with soft ocean colors and large picture windows that soothed my soul and set the scene for a perfect beach vacation.
My friends & I celebrated the start of our vacation on the patio deck as we watched the horizon spread out in an array of pink as the sun set across the Pacific. From the patio deck, we also viewed the wonderful scene of ships passing in the night. A cozy fireplace added to the “home away from home” feel each evening.
The large, well-equipped kitchen enticed us to dine in and “hibernate” at home for most of our vacation. The spacious accommodations inside the home also included two roomy bedrooms each with its own private bathroom and very comfortable beds. The master bedroom featured a queen bed and a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean. Each night, I was lulled to sleep by the hypnotic sounds of the ocean. The second bedroom had a tranquil view of the private front courtyard.
After a refreshing walk on the beach to feel the salt-spray of the sea on our faces and the wind in our hair, we hopped in the car and drove just a few blocks to the eclectic town of Laguna Beach. From shopping and dining to art galleries and people watching, there was no limit to the number of activities we could do. One could grab a kayak or just read a book on the beach. Plus, everyone in town was so helpful and friendly.
This bear did not want his Laguna Beach vacation to come to an end!

Enjoying the wrap around deck while marveling at the mountain and river views
2/24/2009 -
My first impression of “The River House” at Grand Lake was WOW! The absolutely beautiful home right on the Colorado River was even more spacious than anticipated. The roomy four bedrooms were well furnished and from top-to-bottom, the home was updated with beautiful fixtures, lovely cabinetry, leather couches and hardwood and tile flooring. We also had plenty of room to park 3 trucks and a small snowmobile trailer (not something you usually find at a mountain home). For dining in, the kitchen was more than accommodating. It was professionally decorated with a gorgeous antique-like stove/oven. The new appliances, including the stainless steel refrigerator, made it as “easy as home” to cook up a good supper for the crew.
The breathtaking mountain view with a short walk to the river made this home that much more appealing. The quiet serene community was like the cherry-on-top of the sundae. The wrap-around porch made it easy to enjoy the fantastic mountain and river views from any direction – not to mention the awesome pictures we took from the porch. After a day of sledding (which the kids did right behind the house on a great hill) and snowmobiling (only 10 minutes away) in the scenic Grand Lake area, we enjoyed relaxing by the fireplace in the cozy living room. The huge glass table in the dining area worked well for card and board games while the game room- equipped with pool table, ping pong table, and darts- kept the kids away from video games (for most of the time).
The drive to town was only a few minutes (perfect for those that want to be out-of-town but not too far from civilization) which made it convenient for an afternoon of bowling at the quaint eight lane bowling alley. Plenty of shopping and dining options were available and the barbeque at Sagebrush was delicious. This “bear” highly recommends you stay at “The River House” at Grand Lake.

When I first set eyes on this beautiful log den, I thought, “Oh yeah … this is the kind of place I could hibernate in!” When I walked inside, my thought was confirmed. From the cozy bear-themed comforter to the wood-carved bear table pedestal, I felt right at home among my friends. My favorite bear was the strong one; he was still holding up the coffee table when we departed.
It was difficult to decide which room to sleep in. All four were wonderful and accessorized beautifully, but my favorite was the bear-themed room. My friends liked the sleigh room, which inspired sweet dreams about having fun in the snow.
We chose to eat most of our meals in and the kitchen fit our plans perfectly. The new stainless steel appliances were a dream. When we weren’t dining in, we headed into nearby Grand Lake to eat and shop. The variety of stores and restaurants were amazing for such a small town! The food we had was excellent and if we had more time, we would have loved to sample all the restaurants. Imagine how fun to be able to drive the snowmobiles into town, for gas, shopping and dining!
While the comforts of the fantastic den beckoned us inside, we came to Grand Lake to play in the snow. After all, Grand Lake is known as “The Snowmobile Capital of Colorado”. We rode snowmobiles directly from our cozy log den! There were miles and miles of groomed trails to enjoy, narrow backwoods trails to skillfully maneuver, hills to climb (“Chicken” and the famous “Super Chicken”) as well as meadows full of powder for playing. Around every corner I wanted to stop to take another picture. The views were unsurpassed … God surely did some of His best work right here in the Rockies!
At the end of the day, we returned to the den to soak sore muscles in the Jacuzzi tub. Some nights we relaxed in front of the fireplace or watched a movie in the spacious family room.
This bear grrrrrreatly recommends you come to experience Mustang Lodge and the Grand Lake area for yourself!

Relaxing and enjoying a fabulous California sunset right on the patio
2/16/2009 -
Just yards from the ocean, this beachfront vacation gem is perfect for the beach lover! For a wonderful taste of California coastal living, this home is it! After relaxing indoors, it was fantastic to step right from the patio onto the sand to enjoy 180-degree views of the beach and ocean from either of two patios. The large patio just steps from the sand was amazing and a great place to take in a fabulous sunset, have a great barbeque, or just relax to the sounds of the surf.
The large and well-appointed rooms will make for a comfortable stay for large and/or several families. From the great flat screen TV’s in every room to the game room fully loaded with games for every age...how wonderful it was to leave home and feel like you were at home when you arrived! Waiting for the shuttle to Beaver Creek Village, right outside the condo
1/30/2009 -
When I arrived at the Beaver Creek Resort on a Friday evening with my 2 human companions, I could “bearly” believe my eyes. Not only was the location and complex far more than I had hoped for, but the condo itself was perfect!
From the hardwood floors to the hangers in the closets to the beautiful marble tiling, there was no expense spared in this condo. Every detail was top-of-the-line. I especially enjoyed the soaking tub in the master bathroom! This was one of the coziest “caves” I have ever stayed in.
This specific condo had the best location in the complex. We sat in front of the roaring fire and watched the skiers get on the lift right outside the living room window. Plus, the fantastic fitness room, pool and spa amenities were conveniently located across the hall from the front door.
The Beaver Creek Landing was more than accommodating. The lobby featured a fireside game room complete with pool table, foosball table, and chess set in front of a warm fireplace. We used their shuttle service to get to Beaver Creek Village and back home safely after a day of skiing and activities. This condo is the perfect place to stay if you want to play in the snow all day and be entertained in the evening!

Enjoying the fabulous view of the MGM Grand from the balcony
1/22/2009 -
They say “that what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas”...but I can't keep to myself the excellent stay we had at this two-bedroom suite in The Signature at MGM Grand Resort.
The Signature is a three tower extension of the MGM Grand Casino and Hotel. From the moment we first arrived, the attention of the staff was focused entirely on our comfort and convenience. The valets and doorman greeted us with smiles and words of welcome and the front desk staff was gracious and eager to make sure that we had everything we needed for a wonderful visit.
Our accommodation was a two-bedroom suite, secluded behind French doors at the end of the hall. It was private and quiet. Our friends made themselves at home in the junior suite while my family enjoyed the larger accommodations of the one bedroom suite. Each unit had everything we needed for a wonderful, comfortable stay. In the three full bathrooms there were soft, thick towels, hair dryers, a master bath jetted tub for luxurious soaks, and two of the bathrooms even had flat panel TVs! The bedrooms were spacious, with beds and pillows that were exceptionally comfortable. In the master bedroom, the large flat paneled TV was enclosed in the desk and appeared at the touch of a button on the remote control. The kitchen in each unit was equipped with stainless appliances including a full sized refrigerator and dishwasher in the one bedroom suite. Also included was a stove, oven, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, and just about anything else you might need to fix a meal if you wished.
Overall, the BEST thing about this unit is its LOCATION! It was an easy walk across the enclosed moving walkway from the Signature to the MGM Grand Casino & Hotel. The location of the resort on the strip is right in the heart of it all! We enjoyed walking a few blocks up and down the strip. We took in all the colorful casinos & hotels and each unique experience they offered. Our host was friendly, gracious and eager to make sure our stay in Las Vegas was everything we had hoped it would be, and it was! I would highly recommend this unit to anyone who desires a memorable, comfortable and convenient accommodation in the heart of Las Vegas, Nevada!

Enjoying a Lovely Evening & a Beautiful View on Hilton Head Island
1/21/2009 -
Upon arrival at this luxury, beachfront home, I had no idea what was in store for me. The bright, airy ambiance lifted my spirits “beary” high and I couldn't keep my eyes off the sweeping ocean views from nearly every room in the house. In this day and age, many seek a place where they can find comfort & serenity, somewhere they can escape from it all and most importantly, somewhere to spend quality time with friends and family. While staying in this beautiful house, I was able to find all of this and more.
Three of the six lovely bedrooms had private verandas where you could sit and watch the dolphins at play or take in a sunset or two. The two-story, open living area was an enjoyable place to interact, relax and enjoy the large dining area which seated up to 10. The main floor master suite had French doors, which opened to the deck, pool and never-ending ocean views. The jetted tub in the bath had shutters, which opened into the bedroom, allowing you to enjoy the views while taking a relaxing bubble bath.
If you enjoy a good, home cooked meal, I found the kitchen very well- equipped with appliances. Plus, there was a lovely, wood patio table in the back, with plenty of additional seating on the large deck to enjoy a juicy steak or seafood on the grill… my favorite! During a hot summer day, the kids can play in the private, heated pool, while the adults lounge in one of several Adirondack chairs. The owner even provides several beach toys and towels for use during your stay.
Rain or shine, the Yellowdog ByThe Sea home had a variety of nearby activities for the young and the young-at-heart to choose from. A walk down to the seashore to dip my "bear" feet in the water turned into a quest to find sand dollars peeking though the surface. Friendly, local people showed me the easiest way to find these beautiful treasures. A five minute walk north along the coast brought me to a small village atmosphere, boasting several fine and casual restaurants, gift and ice cream shops, and even a theater! A stroller for the little ones was available to make the beach walking a little easier and there were flashlights for adventurers who preferred to beach comb by moonlight.
Oh, how I wished to linger and relax for just a few more days. To stretch out by the pool, enjoying a glass of sweet tea and savoring every moment of my vacation experience in the south!

A lemon tree full of fruit for my afternoon tea
1/21/2009 -
This bear was able to escape the cold weather and bask in the California sunshine by spending a very long weekend in the Desert.
The home’s huge living room featured the best wrap around couch. It was so comfy and great for winding down at the end of the day. The flat screen TV was so big that everyone had a perfect view no matter where they were sitting. Plus, the kitchen was spacious and well supplied with all of the essentials we needed.
As night fell each evening, we slept peacefully in the master bedroom on a comfortable king bed with lots of relaxing, plush pillows. The master bedroom featured a spacious private bathroom. The other two bedrooms had a queen bed and a twin which was just perfect for our family. There was so much space to spread out!
However, my favorite spot was the backyard. Each morning, I had my coffee on the back patio and at lunch time, there was a lemon tree that was full of fruit for my ice tea. I thought, “This is the life!”
My golf game was taken up a few notches by the scenic course at the Mission Lakes Country Club. Just a hop, skip and a jump from the house, there were gorgeous desert vistas from every hole.
The house’s location was very convenient. We were minutes from the freeway and just 13 miles to the nearest In-N-Out Burger in Thousand Palms. Plus, Palm Springs and the Cabazon shopping outlets were nearby. If you are looking for a relaxing place to enjoy the desert, I promise you will not be disappointed by this house!

Enjoying the Relaxing Ocean Breezes
1/16/2009 -
It was a treat to call this very comfortable and spacious St. Simons Island condo my home for a few days. Everything about this accommodation was top notch. From the furnishings to the beautiful limestone flooring to the quality linens on the beds, the condo was immaculate! The open floor plan was spacious and the soothing blue and gold tones in the eclectic décor made us feel right at home.
While staying at this condo, make sure you take the time to appreciate a beautiful sunrise or sunset. We indulged in the warm ocean breezes off one of the two balconies facing the ocean. Plus, it was so nice to jump into a plush bed and sleep through the night like a baby after a long day of island sightseeing.
If you are a history buff, you will want to spend several days visiting the museums and landmarks on St. Simons Island. A few blocks away from the condo, we rented bikes. The paths throughout the island made it easy to ride or walk to the nearby village which offered a nice variety of restaurants and shops. I highly recommend the Georgia Sea Grill, a great place for a delicious, romantic dinner. The beaches can stretch out for hundreds of yards at low tide, making it ideal for taking a leisurely walk or bike ride. If you are one who likes to take a dip in the ocean or have kids, you can walk out several hundred feet and the water never gets higher than your waist!

Relaxing by the Pool
1/6/2009 -
Ah, beautiful Arizona! If you plan on taking a trip to this great state, then you’ve found the perfect house to make your stay even more enjoyable. This little bear family was welcomed into the home before we even arrived. We were greeted at the door to help make our stay a wonderful one and enjoyed the fresh basket of fruit that was left for us.
The house was so inviting that we experienced the comforts of home in every room. This little bear family was so used to being in the woods that we felt like we were in paradise while staying here. The backyard was truly heavenly with the beautiful pool, waterfall, tiki lights, and tropical flowers. We especially liked the hot tub that was overlooking the pond. The tropical-themed house made not only the outside feel like paradise, but the inside as well. The spacious master bedroom/bathroom was a delight to stay in and we enjoyed relaxing on the balcony and listening to the waterfall and the birds serenading us. The whole house was very spacious with plenty of room for our whole family.
There is so much to do here that you could never get bored. You can shop ‘til you drop with the Chandler Mall just minutes away, visit the train museum with the kids or go to the Botanical Gardens. If you’re visiting Arizona for the first time or have been here numerous times before, then you’ve found your “home away from home.”

VRBO Bear enjoying the beautiful cove on the private wooded lot.
12/22/2008 -
Located on a private wooded lot in a beautiful cove of Richland Chambers Lake, this home offered the perfect den-like setting. We didn’t have any problems getting there because the owner sent us a detailed map and easy-to-follow directions, along with tons of local information on anything and everything there was do in the local area (from where we could purchase bait to a recommended walking/jogging route). The young bears were particularly excited about roasting marshmallows, so the information provided about campfires was greatly appreciated.
The home itself was perfect for a large bear clan of family & friends traveling together. The living area, kitchen and dining area were large enough for the entire group to enjoy at the same time. The bedrooms were roomy and the comfy beds were outfitted with luxurious linens. All in all, the house was extremely comfortable for small and big bears alike.
The amenities made this home standout from other vacation rentals I’ve stayed at. Believe me- I’ve stayed in a lot of homes! It was the BEST-equipped home because the owners have thought of everything- from toys to a rolling white board for playing Pictionary to a little picnic table for toddlers. The kitchen was perfect for hungry bears and even featured two coffee pots (one for regular and one for decaf). Bears naturally have a lot of energy, so some of us can’t handle all the caffeine!
From sunrise to sunset, our group enjoyed playing football in the yard, kayaking, paddle boating, fishing on the lake and building campfires. When we weren’t outside, we were able to relax in the spacious home and take advantage of the indoor amenities including the ping pong table, video game console, and extensive movie library. It was truly a great weekend getaway, perfect for any big bear gathering!
