5/6/2008 - The Plantation Cottage is a tropical oasis. The Encinitas, California, vacation property is surrounded by lush tropical landscaping. You will feel as if you have escaped to Hawaii or a Fijian resort.

The interior of the cottage is luxurious with every modern convenience. The vaulted ceilings and wood beams create a large feel to this one-bedroom, one-bath cottage. The many windows and skylights also enhance the bright open feeling at this vacation rental. Entertainment and electronics are not lacking in any way with four plasma TVs and an integrated sound system. This cottage also provides the perfect place for business travelers with wireless internet, a fax machine, and copier all provided.

You can also enjoy a fire place and lounge in the front of the property, or a fire pit and additional seating area in the back. Perfect for enjoying good conversation and yummy food in the outdoors. The authentic cedar spa and jets made for wonderful evenings of relaxation, and we thoroughly enjoyed the flat screen TV and mood music provided in the outside hutch.

Let me tell you about the local scene in downtown Encinitas. We enjoyed a delightful breakfast at the 101 Diner on their outdoor patio, and downtown is filled with fun shops, boutiques, surf shops, cafés, and many unique restaurants. Fun at the beach was only a few minutes away.

The owner was very helpful and offered suggestions for local dining. His friendly black lab also made us feel welcome and right at home. The Plantation Cottage is an amazing get away. You will have to come and see for yourself. The tropical, lush landscaping, cedar barrel spa, palapa, and cool breezes are waiting for you!

I really had a blast in the game room!

4/30/2008 - This is a truly magnificent luxury Santa Barbara oceanfront property with tremendous attention to detail and terrific owners. The pictures on the website hardly do it justice – the views are stunning, and the traditional Cape Cod architecture of the home strikes a perfect balance between casual and stylish. We went with three couples and there was plenty of room for everyone. Each couple had a room with beautiful ocean views and top-quality bedding. The house is very well outfitted with entertainment systems, furnishings, books, and all the amenities needed for cooking and enjoying the home. The gourmet kitchen is of the highest quality, worthy of any chef, and includes a large farm table situated against the backdrop of the wonderful ocean views. The house is located on a steep cliff, with stair access to the beach about 50 yards down the road. We saw whales, dolphins and seals during our visit.

The owners were fantastic – greeting us at the airport and taking care of our every need – including the provision of extra bicycles, the arrangement of a wine tour, and a chef that prepared snacks for our arrival and an amazing multi-course dinner during one of our three nights in the home. The property is a short drive into downtown Santa Barbara (a couple of us biked into town from the house) which offers lots of shopping and restaurants. But overall the house is pretty tough to leave with its many amenities including an outdoor fire pit overlooking the ocean, hot tub, swimming pool, and extensive game room with a pool table, video games, and the completely addicting “Earthshaker” pinball machine. It also has an amazing movie theatre…which we used several times…it really felt like getting away to the movies with true theatre-quality sound and video.

This is an expensive rental, but one where you’ll get what you pay for. It is as luxurious as any 5-star hotel with the space and comfort for one or two large families. We didn’t bring the kids, but they would have really enjoyed it. Parents with small kids might be a little paranoid about the bluff, so be prepared to be on guard if your children are overly curious in this regard. Overall we’d rate this one an easy “10” and recommend it unequivocally! Thanks so much to Jay and Kari Ann!

4/21/2008 - I had a wonderful time in this spacious four-bedroom home in a lovely setting in Islamorada. Upon our arrival, we were personally welcomed by the owner and given a tour of the house. The owner was kind enough to take time to tell us about favorite local restaurants and sights to see. The home is wonderfully light and airy feeling. There is plenty of room for everyone to relax and enjoy the tranquil setting, fish from the dock, soak up the sun on the decks or in the pool, and watch the boats, fish, and birds on the canal and bay. The sea breeze was refreshing, and watching the palm trees dance in the breeze was calming. Although the nightlife and activity on Islamorada is only minutes away, the home is peaceful and quiet, and instead of noise, we heard the gentle sound of the sea.

Islamorada is perfect for boating and fishing and is only a few minutes’ drive from Key Largo where you can dive and snorkel to your heart’s content. We had a pleasant drive to Key West, making many stops along the way to view the plants and wildlife of the Keys. The view from the famous Seven Mile Bridge is beautiful with the blues and greens of the ocean and gulf dotted with boats. You’ll enjoy your taste of the tropics in Islamorada.

4/21/2008 - I can’t think of anything better than heading to Palm Springs to enjoy some much needed sun after a long winter's nap! What a thrill it was to stay in this Palm Springs home.

This Palm Springs vacation home invites you back to a time when Hollywood movie stars retreated to this warm climate for socialization, golf, and much needed rest and relaxation. It’s located in central Palm Springs in what’s known as the "Movie Colony" neighborhood.

It is apparent that time and design have made this home a special place. Whether outside or inside, you’ll enjoy the classy feel of the era of the glamorous lifestyle. The well appointed retro interior design and open floor plan with floor to ceiling windows, boasting a view of the pool area and backyard, makes one take a deep breath and reach for something tall and cool.

With special touches like the interior/exterior sound system, remodeled full kitchen, and flat screen TVs, there was no lack for home entertainment. And we found plenty of shopping, restaurants, and entertainment nearby.

In the evening, we could not decide whether to be outside or inside! We enjoyed balmy nights with the beautiful and subtle outdoor lighting and a starry night sky and we were pampered inside looking out at the glowing pool inviting us for a night swim. I found the "Grand Old Dame" enchanting and often spent time day dreaming of myself in a bygone era, fully expecting Frank Sinatra to come around the corner!

I had the pleasure of visiting Tagganale, a beautiful new condo right on the beach. But this wasn’t like any condo – it was one of only three other units to share its oceanfront pool and spa. Top notch furnishings completed a luxury vacation that was well beyond our expectations.

4/3/2008 - From the moment I stepped into this bright, airy Kure Beach house, I knew it was just what the bear doctor ordered. With everything from the comfortable, inviting furnishings to the expansive back porch, I felt immediately at home.

Sitting poolside on the back porch with only a few steps beyond to beautiful Kure Beach, I felt the tension slip away. Five large bedrooms and four baths made it a wonderful place for family and friends to gather. I especially enjoyed soaking in the large master bathtub after a long day of sightseeing.

Historic downtown Wilmington is just 20 to 30 minutes away, and there you will find wonderful shops and restaurants, guided tours and more. Kure Beach also offers shops, restaurants, a wonderful aquarium and miles of beautiful beach to explore.

Hanging out on the Lake

3/21/2008 - Wow, everything is bigger and better in Texas! We had a great time staying on Lake Conroe. We loved being right on the lake because there is so much to do, and we were never bored. We had fun water skiing, jet skiing, house boating, and Papa Bear swam in the lake. But if you'd rather relax, then you can just sit on the dock and enjoy the beauty of Lake Conroe like Mama Bear did! There are also plenty of restaurants and stores around the Lake, so you never have to travel very far to get what you need.

If staying on the lake wasn't enough, having such a nice house to stay at made it even better. This house had everything we needed to make us feel right at home. We were very pleased with the fully stocked kitchen, beautiful granite countertops, new appliances, and handcrafted cabinets with detailed crown molding. We loved the safari décor and the detail to each piece. The master bedroom was wonderful with the king-size bed, deck right off the master, Jacuzzi tub, walk-in closet, double sink and large shower.

We loved being in a nice quiet town like Conroe, but being close enough to a major town that we could drive there if we wanted. There was a mall within 15 minutes, more restaurants then you could eat at, and if you wanted to drive to Houston, it was just another 45 minutes further with tons more things to do.

We are already planning our next trip to Lake Conroe in the future. I hope you come and experience all Texas has to offer!

3/20/2008 - I had a ‘beary’ wonderful time visiting Dolphin Watch on Galveston Island in Texas! This property is everything I need in a vacation home. I especially loved the satellite TV in every room while relaxing at home after a day of fun on the island. I enjoyed hearing and seeing the beauty of the ocean from the spacious front deck. Having an outdoor sink or shower is a must after spending time on the beach, and this property had BOTH available for my use. It was a great!

The layout of this home fit my bear taste perfectly. The kitchen was ‘beary’ nice to cook in. (You’ll love the granite counter tops!) The home was clean, and the décor was lovely – just take a look at the photo of my “swim with the dolphins”! The home is conveniently located a short distance away from the hustle and bustle of the city. If you’re planning on visiting Galveston, you’ll be sure to feel ‘beary’ at home at Dolphin Watch.

2/27/2008 - My visit to the Elk’s Lodge, Suite 1902 at Westgate Resort in Park City was a celebrity’s dream. I received VIP treatment from the moment I arrived. Our host, Kevin, along with the front desk staff, greeted our party in the lobby to answer any questions, and both were available around the clock for anything we might need. They even provided ski storage plus the service of a staff that will dry your skis and lock them up for you. So if you spend a long day on the slopes, let them take your skis, quickly return to your room, and then relax in front of a blazing fire. Our host even made dinner reservations for us. Now that’s service!

My favorite part of this vacation rental is that it offers something most vacation rentals don’t, and that’s room service. You can order breakfast, lunch and dinner, if you wish, from the resort’s fine restaurant. This suite is perfect for a romantic getaway with a full service spa for that much needed massage after a day of skiing. You’ll also love the beautiful indoor/outdoor pool that’s open year-round. Yes, this is resort living, with all the service and amenities you’d expect from a luxury resort at a very reasonable vacation rental rate. Thank you, Kevin, for a most enjoyable and memorable stay!

2/26/2008 - This immaculate Carlsbad vacation home is wonderful for all seasons. Boogie boards were provided for the sunny beach days. Rainy days were cozy by the warm fire and underneath the fluffy down comforters. Just perfect for hibernating!

The kitchen was big and had everything I needed to make my yummy porridge, which came out juuust right! After a long day, my bear honey and I were able to relax in a nice big bubble bath. We also appreciated the bassinet that was provided so we could enjoy ourselves while our little bear cub slept. The quiet neighborhood was priceless and allowed us to truly relax and get rejuvenated.

The location of this home was beary nice. It was difficult for us to decide whether to go to the beach or to the outlet mall. Other nearby attractions include the famous flower fields and LEGOLAND California. There were also several yummy eateries nearby, including Sammy's Woodfired Pizza, Island's Fine Burgers, Ruby's Diner, and T.G.I Friday's.

With all of the fun things to do and see in Carlsbad, I wish I could've stayed longer in this wonderful house.

2/6/2008 - This wonderful three-story villa on the beach in Cancun was a wonderful place to visit – so close to the beach that the waves sang me to sleep every night. And my Cancun beach rental provided peaceful moments away from all the exciting nightlife of Cancun! Each of the three lovely bedrooms has a television with satellite TV, and the home includes marble floors, a well appointed kitchen and even books to read in the spacious living room.

I went parasailing on the beach just outside my back door, enjoyed a Mexican fiesta and horse show at a local dressage and polo club, danced the night away in the nightclubs nearby, and spent hours walking the beach and soaking up the sun by the pool.

With beautiful views, a quiet location close all of the exciting nightlife of Cancun, and plenty of room for family or friends, this villa is mucho excelente!

Relaxing in this elegant urban home

1/16/2008 - Don’t miss staying at this beautiful, early twentieth century Victorian house located in the heart of the city of Denver. With its beautiful moldings around the doors, windows and ceiling and original hardwood floors, this Denver vacation rental was definitely one of the most unique houses this little bear has visited. Papa Bear said it was one of his favorite properties that he’s ever stayed at.

We loved the warm and inviting paint colors, exposed brick, beautiful light fixtures and antique decor. We felt at home right away. The beautiful, fully stocked, updated kitchen made it easy to cook all our meals. We also loved the unique fireplaces all over the house and all the conveniences of home.

This vacation home is within walking distance to the 16th Street Mall, and with so much to do downtown, you will never have to go very far to have a great time. Enjoy great restaurants like the Cheesecake Factory, Maggiano’s and Wolfgang Puck, just to name a few.

1/15/2008 - Nestled into the side of the mountain and surrounded by an abundance of pine trees, the Cabin in the Pines offers a respite from the real world. The three cozy bedrooms and roomy bathrooms were "just right" for my bear family and friends!

The rustic elegance of the interior is enhanced by the breathtaking view of the mountains from the deck! The well-equipped kitchen and dining area accommodates a full gourmet dinner for eight. We found the shuttle stop, which is just a few steps from the cabin, provides quick service to the ski slopes.

A dip in one of the two steamy hot tubs is enough to soothe the aches of any active cub after a full day of skiing, snowboarding, hiking or sightseeing. If a trip to Keystone is in your future, be sure to check out the Cabin in the Pines. You will be happy you did!

1/14/2008 - Aloha! I was looking for a secluded and peaceful place to hibernate for the winter when I heard that "Gilligan’s Island" was filmed in the beautiful cove, Moloaa Bay Cove, less than a mile from this Kauai vacation rental property.

When I arrived, I found a quiet and quaint place to relax with an abundance of tropical fruit for me to forage for and enjoy from the trees on the property. This Kauai vacation house is centrally located to most everything I could have ever wanted to get to on the island. It was also only a five-minute drive to a smoothie and fruit stand with a variety of unique refreshments to enjoy.

1/11/2008 - Our visit to this brand-new Colorado condo in the Rocky Mountains was such an exceptional one! A couple of our favorite things about this beautiful resort condo were the extremely comfortable beds and the two new HDTVs! You’ll also love the top-of-the-line touches like granite countertops in the gourmet kitchen and bathrooms, leather furnishings, gas fireplace, jetted tub in the master bath and high-quality linens. Walk out of the complex to the two outdoor hot tubs or hike the paths around Lake Dillon. (Bike in the summer!) Parking in the secure garage was very nice when we arrived on a snowy day.

1/10/2008 - This beautiful two-story Kauai condo is located in the elegant Poipu Beach area. When you enter the property you are greeted with warm colors and the sounds of the surf right out your back door, filling the residence through the slatted windows. Inside, the condo is beautifully finished with wood and tile floors, new appliances in the kitchen, beautifully finished bathrooms, tasteful decorations, and all the other conveniences of home.

I was tempted to curl up and begin my hibernation, but I got so involved watching the whales from the patio, I could not pull myself away. Then in the two coves at the bottom of the cliffs to either side of the property I spotted several green turtles and could not decide whether to watch the whales or the turtles. If you get tired of sitting and watching everything going on around you, may I recommend a lovely stroll on Poipu Beach that is only minutes away.

I was very sorry to see my stay come to an end and hope to return to this Kauai paradise soon! Try to take in this property for a truly relaxing vacation in this Hawaiian paradise.

12/27/2007 - My recent visit to a cozy Laguna Beach cottage was ‘beary’ special. The yard presented orange and avocado trees full of produce to enjoy and flowers so delicate and colorful. The wall of French doors to the front deck opened the entire living space to the beautiful Pacific Ocean. The view of Catalina Island on the horizon and of the sunset will take your breath away.

A multitude of quilts, pillows, and art really make it feel like a place a bear could relax and take a great nap!

12/23/2007 - VRBO Bear here! Greetings from Henderson, NV! My friends and I stayed in this GORGEOUS three-bedroom, two and a half-bath Lake Las Vegas condo, and it was perfect. The view of the golf course is amazing, and the condo has every detail a bear could ask for including a fireplace to warm my paws while I watched a movie on the LCD TV.

From the condo, we were just a short drive to The Strip and even closer to Sam Boyd Stadium – close enough to be a part of the fun without the lights and sounds to disturb our quiet time.

My friends and I had a 'beary' good time staying in this Las Vegas condo and recommend it to families and couples who want to get away and still enjoy the fun of Las Vegas!

12/13/2007 - This beautiful gulf front condo was the perfect relaxing retreat for any beach getaway. We had plenty of room to spread out in over 2,000 square feet of living space. Located on the garden level, our Destin condo looked over the inviting pool and beyond to endless stretches of sugary white beaches. Since the condo faces directly south, we enjoyed early morning sunrises over the ocean as well as captivating red and orange sunsets.

Because this property is in the heart of Destin, several restaurants and shops were within walking distance. If you do rent a car, two underground parking spots are provided with easy elevator access. If you enjoy cooking, be sure to get your groceries and take advantage of the gourmet kitchen with everything you need to prepare your meals.

Kids and adults alike will enjoy the flat screen TVs provided in each room along with DVD players. Easy beach access straight from your sliding glass door patio makes playing in the surf or taking a stroll along the beach completely hassle free. There’s something for everyone in this beautiful Destin resort condo.

11/29/2007 - What an ideal location for a family gathering! Eleven of my family members joined me at this great Idaho cabin for Thanksgiving week. We enjoyed the warmth of the dining room with the wood burning stove, two recliners, pine wood floors and views of Ponderosa State Park out our windows. Spotting the deer and fox were a fun treat as well.

This McCall, Idaho cabin was originally just a dining area, kitchen, half bath and loft for sleeping, with the comfy feel of an Idaho mountain lake cabin. Since then, the cabin has tripled in size to a house that sleeps up to 16, adding five bedrooms, three bathrooms and two family rooms, allowing plenty of room for all of us to sleep comfortably and relax.

With its close proximity to Payette Lake and bordering Ponderosa State Park, the location is perfect! Book it soon for your family reunion vacation rental or large group vacation rental. This bear plans to go back in the summer to enjoy the lake and biking, hiking and golf!

11/29/2007 - My friends and I spent a very memorable weekend at this INCREDIBLE Breckenridge mountain home in Breckenridge, Colorado. I asked them to describe GORGEOUS “Grace Manor” and here’s what they had to say:

We enjoyed SPECTACULAR views of Breckenridge Ski Mountain from the house, the deck and the hot tub. The WARMTH of the mountain décor and furnishings welcomed us the minute we walked in. The ELEGANCE spoiled us for a weekend: the four master bedrooms each had their own TV/DVD and private bathroom. The SPACIOUS gourmet kitchen had every appliance, dish and kitchen tool we needed. 11/26/2007 - I really enjoyed my Huntington Beach, California vacation. I stayed in a beary comfortable three-story Huntington Beach vacation home with spacious rooms, comfortable beds and plush pillows to hibernate with. I was even able to take a soak in the large bathtub located in the master bathroom!

It was nice being so close to downtown - you could walk or take one of the ‘bearcycles’ that are waiting for you in the back yard. It was fun to forage through all of the neat shops, but it was difficult to decide which delicious restaurant to eat at as there were so many.

While I was in town, I got to go visit with my cousin Pooh. He showed me around his day job at Disneyland and the new Disney’s California Adventure. (I especially liked the giant bear statue carved into the stone.) But the best part of the whole trip was the wonderful views and the cool ocean breezes that my human companions and I enjoyed while lazily lounging around this beautiful Huntington Beach rental home.

11/5/2007 - Mooseback Lodge, just west of Vail, was the perfect getaway for a cozy retreat. If you like summer activities, the best golfing, hiking and fishing can be had near this beautiful mountain home. If winter sports are your pleasure, Vail, Beaver Creek and Arrowhead ski resorts offer incredible ski runs from beginner to expert, including boarding, as well as snowmobiling and ice skating.

I love hanging out in the Great Room

11/5/2007 - I always enjoy visiting beautiful Estes Park, Colorado, and this beary comfortable home provided everything I needed to relax and enjoy my Estes Park getaway! The owners are attentive and thoughtful, as they included a welcoming basket of goodies and helpful lists of area restaurants and events.

This lovely home is convenient to downtown Estes Park but is quiet and peaceful with a stunning view of the mountains. The large living room with its wall of windows and expansive view is a relaxing gathering spot for bear family and friends to enjoy the fireplace, the scenery and each other’s company. The kitchen is well stocked with everything necessary for prepping meals and snacks. The bedrooms offer plenty of hibernation spots for the whole bear family. And extra touches like games, firewood and convenient WiFi make this vacation house a home away from home.

Enjoying the private yard and patio

11/5/2007 - Tranquility by the Beach lives up to its name! This beautiful house is located in a nice residential neighborhood. When you enter the gate into the private yard, you find yourself inside a verdant paradise. The yard is surrounded by tall trees, flowering plants, and towering bamboo stalks, giving you the feeling of total privacy and seclusion. Inside, the house is beautifully finished with wood and tile floors, new appliances in the kitchen, beautifully finished bathrooms, tasteful decorations, and all the other conveniences of home. The backyard is a wonderful place to enjoy dinner or a relaxing soak in the hot tub.

The bear was tempted to curl up at Tranquility and hibernate, but Santa Barbara offers so much to do. Tranquility is just a few minutes away from a supermarket and a natural foods grocery and several restaurants. The Mesa Beach access is a few blocks away, as is the Douglas Preserve. The Bear highly recommends a stroll through the preserve; with its towering cypress trees set on a cliff above the ocean. The historic downtown and harbor areas are about a five minute drive, and the 101 freeway gives easy access to the airport, the Santa Ynez valley (famous for its wineries), and other points up and down the California coast.

The Bear was sorry to see his stay come to an end and hopes to return to Santa Barbara soon!

Enjoying the beautiful outdoors

10/29/2007 - If you are looking for a relaxing, enjoyable, fun filled vacation, then look no further. You have found the perfect vacation. We had everything we needed at this gorgeous property in beautiful Buena Vista, Colorado. We had such a good time, we didn’t want to leave. We felt so welcome in the house - as soon as we stepped through the doors, we already felt at home. It was so nice going on vacation but having so many comforts of home.

The mountain décor was beautiful and made it truly feel like a cabin in the mountains. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook each meal, and we enjoyed eating at the big table in the dining room. It was so nice watching TV on the big screen. Our favorite activity was being outside and enjoying the incredible views from the large deck while listening to the stream below. The bear cubs especially enjoyed going down to the pond and watching the fish jump. To bad we didn’t bring our fishing poles!

If you don’t feel like staying indoors, there is so much to do in Buena Vista. There’s snowmobiling in the winter, whitewater rafting, fishing, horseback riding, hunting, and swimming at the hot springs, just to mention a few. There are also some great restaurants to eat at if you don’t feel like cooking. It was so nice to read everyone’s nice comments about their previous stays. One guest had this to say, “The sound of water running over rocks and stones, horses grazing in the green pastures, aspen tree leaves rustling in the breeze… Memories are made of this.” And I agree.

10/29/2007 - I decided to take a trip to San Diego, and boy am I glad I did! Our accommodations in Oceanside were outstanding. When we first arrived, we were treated to a grand tour – upon entering through the wrought iron gate, we were soothed with the sounds of the three tiered cascading fountain. The home was a delight, with a princess bedroom, pirate bedroom, Hawaiian bedroom and a most romantic master retreat, each complete with flat screen TVs. I appreciated the bright, happy colors throughout the house – no bland, boring hotel-type décor or cramped space but so much more than we imagined!

Out back was a full BBQ, a large, cozy fireplace and plenty of chairs for lounging. The cubbies enjoyed the pool and waterfall while I took advantage of the relaxing hot tub. When the cubs weren’t in the pool, they were jumping on the trampoline or playing on the swing set. There was so much space to play, even a putting green.

The beach was a only a mile away, and Disneyland was just an hour. We decided to visit the park during the week when lines were short. But best of all was coming back to relax and enjoy this exceptional home where everything you need is provided, from beach towels, boogie boards and bikes to the most comfortable pillow top beds. Our host even provides a special treat for all her guests. (Thank you, Carrie, for anticipating everything this furry guest and his cubs could need!)

10/23/2007 - Soon after arriving at this peaceful Westhampton residence, the VRBO Bear discovered a coffee table book detailing the art of “Feng Shui” - the ancient Chinese practice of placement and arrangement of space to achieve harmony with the environment. A concept aptly describing the home and the neighborhood in which it is situated.

The Bear had no difficulty finding exciting diversions to pursue in nearby New York locations. However, he did find great difficulty in choosing between a visit to the beach, the backyard swimming pool, the oversized spa tub, and the rain forest shower for a relaxing water-related experience.

A great retreat nestled in the pines

10/11/2007 - I feel like a lucky bear to be able to stay at such a beautiful property in the majestic Colorado mountains. This was truly a relaxing vacation.

We felt welcome at this Breckenridge home before we even stepped through the doors. The owners made us feel very welcome and were lovely to work with from the beginning. We were very impressed with this newly renovated house from the moment we walked through the door. The beautiful decorations in the house made us feel right at home. The sitting area on each floor with its own TV was great because we could watch what we wanted instead of fighting over the remote! Our favorite place to hang out was downstairs playing pool, foosball, or watching a movie on the flat screen TV. It was nice relaxing in the covered hot tub at night after the little bear cubs went to bed.

Let’s not forget the fully stocked kitchen, the sub floor heating, and the grill to cook outside. This house was very spacious with enough room to hold a large group and everything you would need to accommodate them but comfortable enough that if you had a small group you would not feel overwhelmed. We loved sitting around the large round table talking and playing games all night long. Each bedroom in the house had its own special feel to it - we couldn’t decide where we wanted to stay!

Along with being a beautiful, relaxing retreat, we loved how close we were to town and to the slopes. Just minutes away from anything we wanted to do with fabulous restaurants and shops. This place is exactly what you are looking for, and you will want to come back again and again. I know I do!

10/8/2007 - The location and layout of this lovely apartment was perfect for my “Bearcelona” adventure. My human traveling companions especially appreciated the privacy of the two separate sleeping wings, each with its own bath and climate control.

The apartment’s location in the modern Diagonal Mar area offered easy access to the metro system. Hop on a metro train, and it is just a quick ride to the city center. The nearby shopping area, with its many restaurants, included a large supermarket - very convenient.

But my favorite aspect was the view from this 18th floor unit. The sweeping vista from the mountains to the sea was a treat for the eye, offering an expansive panorama of the city - impressive by day, sparkling by night. I was even able to catch a glimpse of the iconic La Sagrada Familia cathedral from the private balcony. Just beautiful!

10/4/2007 - This Glenwood Springs vacation rental was an ideal home base for a mountain getaway spent enjoying the outdoors of this beautiful region. With a spacious and beautifully decorated room and bathroom and shared storage for skis, bikes or other outdoor gear, this rental is a quiet, comfortable retreat for a bear or a bear couple.

We spent the day soaking our paws in the world-famous Hot Springs Pool, just a few minutes away. We enjoyed the restaurants and shops along Grand Avenue, the main street in Glenwood Springs. We were there to enjoy the autumn colors, but we could see that this rental would also be ideal ski lodging with close access to Aspen and Snowmass ski areas, and it’s right by Sunlight ski area in town.

Sharon, the owner, is happy to answer questions and to help make your stay comfortable. The rental is a part of the owner’s home, but since it is separate from the main part of the house and has a separate entrance, it’s private and cozy.

10/2/2007 - I had the pleasure of visiting this spectacular mountain retreat in the heart of Vail’s prestigious ski resort town. Nestled into the mountainside, this luxurious home was a perfect haven. October is the best time to see the changing fall colors and the aspen trees were in glorious shades of gold! My friends and I took advantage of the view while soaking in the very private hot tub just off the master bedroom.

This fantastic mountain home boasts a large gourmet kitchen with top of the line appliances. We were not disappointed. We had no trouble finding everything we needed to prepare a big family dinner to enjoy around the dining table.

The shuttle bus was within a short walk and took us from east Vail to the west end of town. There were a variety of shops in-between to cater to your every whim, not to mention a skating rink, a library and plenty of choices for dining.

After skiing, shopping, hiking or whatever your choice of activity, it’s a great treat to come back to this spacious luxury hideaway. Pamper yourself in the jetted master bath, take a steam shower or just relax in the six-person hot tub, and the little cubbies loved the game room where they had a big flat screen TV all to themselves.

10/1/2007 - Want to experience the history of Glenwood Springs, Colorado? Want to relax and enjoy all that this quaint little mountain town has to offer? Then this beautiful Victorian home is where you want to stay.

This immaculate home is within close walking distance to all of the attractions of Glenwood Springs. It’s located just across the bridge from the famous Hot Springs Pool and Spa and one street from the train station and museum and only a couple blocks from downtown Glenwood, with all of the wonderful shops and restaurants. 9/20/2007 - What could be better than a visit to historical Annapolis MD? - the lovely accommodations the VRBO Bear found in this charming apartment in Eastport! This home has been completely renovated and was a cozy retreat at the end of the day.

The purpose of our visit was to attend the First Class Parents' Weekend at the US Naval Academy. This bear's son is a midshipman at the Academy, and the apartment was in a perfect location for the weekend's festivities. There are restaurants and quaint stores all around this location, with a Ruth's Chris Steak house right down the street! We walked to the Academy on the first morning, crossing the bridge over Spa Creek and enjoying the sights of the marina - boats, homes and businesses along the way. In the evening, we enjoyed the ride on the water taxi that dropped us off just a few blocks from the apartment.

The apartment was a delight, with every comfort a bear could desire. The bed with its luxurious linens was so comfortable, I could have hibernated all weekend! The kitchen was stocked with any item I might have needed, and the living room was inviting with a comfortable sofa and TV. And if you are a bear who needs to stay "connected," there is even wireless internet available.

Our hostess, Joanne, is an artist, and there are many pieces of her work displayed throughout the apartment, including charming painted furniture and beautiful artwork on the walls. She even has a small gallery of her work in her home, which is attached to the apartment. You can tell that every detail was lovingly appointed with a generous spirit.

9/14/2007 - My GrandPaw used to say to me, “You need to get back to your roots from time to time.” So I decided to head up to Estes Park to stay in Pinecone Cottage. Pinecone Cottage is the only cottage located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac. When I walked into the cottage, all I could say was, “Wow!” It was clean and beautiful, with pine walls and plenty of windows to see the awe-inspiring views. And I had my choice of six comfortable beds (and you know bears like to sleep soundly).

The kitchen was so well equipped that one evening, I prepared dinner myself. To top it off, I went out on the deck to enjoy the perfect weather and spectacular views. After it got a little chilly, I retired indoors to the big, comfortable Jacuzzi tub. What perfection!

Pinecone Cottage is five minutes from Rocky Mountain National Park where I went hiking, drove Old Fall River Road, and read a book by one of the many lakes. I also had plenty of opportunities to commune with my old friends, like the Elk, Deer, Pika and Hawk families! It is also only five minutes from downtown Estes Park, with plenty of shopping and restaurants.

Whether hiking, shopping, eating, or just relaxing, Pinecone Cottage is a must for anyone. My GrandPaw was right...it doesn’t get any better than this!

9/7/2007 - I got the beary furry privilege of staying at the MGM Signature for a two day stay at the "Life is Good" suite in Las Vegas!

The room is beary, beary modern! Everything is sleek and brand new. The first thing I did was sit back and relax on the most comfortable couch while I watched a gorgeous flat-screen television, which can also be seen in the huge, soft bed at night after an energetic day in Vegas. I have to tell you about the outstanding bathroom that has a large tub and glass enclosed shower. Even this room has another flat-screen television with black, shiny countertops!

Whenever I was hungry as a bear, I had a stove, refrigerator, sink, microwave, and toaster when I needed to cook what I brought along with me. I was so enjoying living the good life, it was hard to go. I can't wait to go back again!

9/1/2007 - We were wowed as we entered this gorgeous, new townhome for our bear stay. It features three bedrooms, a fully-equipped gourmet kitchen, wet bar, den, loft and a two-car garage. It is in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood about ten minutes north of downtown Durango. The home is tastefully decorated with beautiful furniture, pictures and other accessories - we enjoyed being inside the home as much as being outside, sightseeing Durango.

The ceiling-mounted speakers distribute smooth music throughout the open area. The covered flagstone patio made the breakfast time in the backyard worthwhile. The bear cubs were delighted to watch the historic Durango-Silverton train from the backyard.

This rental property definitely ranks high in the Bear’s list for Durango.

This rental also has access to DSL and wireless internet connections for those who need it.

Stopped to smell the daisies!

8/22/2007 - My bear stay at the Grand View Lodge was perfect. It had everything that we needed to make our stay memorable. We decided to have a big bear family reunion and this was the perfect place.

Upon entering the Grand View Lodge, we felt right at home. It has such a cozy feel to the home with beautiful décor and huge fireplace. The home was very accommodating for our large family. Even with all the rooms filled, we all felt like we had plenty of space and none of us felt crowded. The main floor bedroom was just what Great Grandmother Bear needed so she didn’t have to worry about any stairs. We loved the large table where we stayed up till the wee hours playing games. The game room was a favorite of the papa bears and bear cubs where they played foosball and pool. The kitchen was stocked full of helpful items for us when we cooked our meals in-house. The laundry room even had detergent we could use since the little cubs got every piece of clothing they had dirty. The bears with computers were pleased to find the WiFi available. After working we could relax in the jetted tub in the master bath or hot tub in the backyard.

We were very impressed by the hospitality. We found a book of information that was very helpful in deciding what we would be doing for the weekend (like the alpine slide and river walk). The mama bears had a fun time shopping at the outlet mall in Silverthorne. We found a restaurant in Breckenridge with a delicious menu. We felt extra special having a basket of goodies in each bathroom that was left for us. We also knew that we could give the owners a call at any time. The pleasant memories we made at the Grand View Lodge will be with us forever.

8/10/2007 - Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful - We loved our stay at the Burgess Creek Chalet in Steamboat, CO. There are gorgeous views of the mountains here to behold. The chalet is nestled into the mountainside.

It was an amazingly large wrap around deck where we spent our summer evenings taking in breathtaking views, watching wildlife, or enjoying the hot tub. The home is in a great location: five minutes to the mountain base for skiing or to nearby restaurants and ten minutes to downtown Steamboat, while still feeling secluded.

The home has windows that make you feel as if you are outside enjoying the view. There are two master bedrooms with comfy king-size beds and bathrooms, two additional bedrooms with queen-size beds as well as a futon in the lower level, and a pull out in the loft and in the living room, for a total of four bedrooms and four bathrooms.

There is a main kitchen upstairs fully stocked with whatever you will need. There is also a kitchen and family area in the lower level of the house. The home has a cozy fireplace, games and movies for cold winter nights.

The owners took great care to make sure we were comfortable and enjoyed our stay here, which we thoroughly did. I hope to visit again!

7/26/2007 - Considering a long weekend in the Colorado Mountains this fall? What a great time to try out this five-star resort! We loved this beautiful, spacious condo with comfortable lodge interior design in the heart of Beaver Creek Village. Everything is close...we walked to restaurants, shops, Starbucks.

This five-star resort's amenities include outdoor and indoor hot tubs, indoor pool, workout facility and concierge service. The front desk staff was very helpful and welcoming. Special features we enjoyed: nice new flat screen HDTVs, gas fireplace, ceiling fans, wireless high speed internet, leather furniture and a great kitchen with granite countertops. After hiking and biking, we read and relaxed on the balcony with views of surrounding aspen trees and Beaver Creek Mountain. Oh, and the daily housekeeping made it an extra relaxing vacation!

7/25/2007 - I felt right at home the moment I walked in. This beautiful Estes Park home had plenty of room for our bear family, but I could see that this spacious estate would accommodate a large group easily.

The log home is situated along the Big Thompson River and nestled in the pines - a perfect setting for a bear’s vacation, and we enjoyed luxurious comfort both inside and out. We cooked in the huge gourmet kitchen and grilled on the gas BBQ. We sat outside on the enormous deck and ate dinner while we watched the river. We ended the day in the hot tub and in very comfortable beds.

The nearby property managers offered any help we needed as well as wonderful suggestions for dinner and activities. We drove just a few minutes into the town of Estes Park for shopping and dining. And we took the cubs to the nearby family amusement park. This lovely estate offered us a perfect place to enjoy our Estes Park getaway - near all the things we wanted to do - but always tempting us to just stay and hibernate.

7/21/2007 - If you are looking for a charming place to stay in Vail, the "Bareskin Lodge" is a wonderful place to stay. The overall feel is like a cozy but modern cabin in this three-bedroom condo. The owners have taken great care to decorate and make this an inviting and comfortable stay that is also kid friendly. It has everything you need for a vacation away.

When you walk in the door, the beautiful new kitchen is on the left with granite counter tops, new slate stone tile floor and all new appliances. On the right is an oversized laundry room with a bench and racks for ski gear. Also on the main floor is a nice big dining room table to the left with a bar looking into the kitchen. Gorgeous pine floors give it a modern but mountain feel. And the main floor has a sunken family room with a pull-out sofa, a fireplace, a TV-entertainment cabinet and stereo and a bathroom.

Out the back door is a deck, heated pool for the summer and a hot tub, both shared by the quiet condo complex. I visited in the summer and thoroughly enjoyed the heated pool.

Upstairs there are three bedrooms plus a small loft, almost like a tree house with a mattress - it was a great find. The master is spacious with a big queen-size bed, a TV, closets and a balcony looking over the pool and mountainside. The middle room has four beds (two bunk beds). The other room is a spacious room with another comfy queen-size bed. This place can sleep up to 12! Each room has a humidifier and fan. The owners have created a kid-friendly place with a play yard, a booster seat and toys for the bear cubs to enjoy.

The condo complex was quiet with parking right out front, a park up the road, stores near by, a few steps from the free bus stop and ten minutes from Vail Village and skiing. Everything is so convenient.

Vail is just a gorgeous mountain town. There is so much to do: ski, hike, bike, relax, swim, shop and dine. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here at the Bareskin Lodge and know you will too!

7/12/2007 - To experience London and all it has to offer, you don't need to look any further. This beautiful flat is conveniently located within a few minutes walk to all of the "must-sees" of London. With only a one minute walk to the tube, all of the sights are immediately accessible.

The friendly owners have taken great care to furnish this flat with everything to make your stay "beary" comfortable. The kitchen is equipped with all of the modern conveniences of home. The cozy beds are not too soft and not too hard...but "just right"! The high speed internet and cable television are available if you want to stay connected with your "neck of the woods." And there are plenty of maps and books available to help you find your way around the city!

The view of the London skyline is breathtaking! The 24-hour concierge service was always welcoming and accommodating. What a perfect way to enjoy the London experience!

7/12/2007 - Paris...as it was meant to be experienced! This quaint apartment defines living in Paris. From this top floor apartment, the views of the bustling streets and sidewalk cafes are what dreams are made of. The charming character and personality of the apartment add to the warmth of the Marias.

The lovely owners have painstakingly created a comfortable home away from home. There are a collection of books to help you plan your day, as well as family photos to enjoy. With all of the modern conveniences built in, you are allowed to live in the past and the present. The available high speed wireless internet allows for easy connection to the world you left behind.

With only a five minute walk to the nearest Metro station, you are easily connected to all of the sights and sounds that Paris is famous for. Stop for an espresso at the downstairs sidewalk cafe or enjoy a two minute stroll to the nearest bakery for a "beary" delicious treat. This is the place you've been looking for!

7/7/2007 - Bears love comfort, and this lovely flat was perfect for a London holiday with the wife and cubs. The large living room and kitchen area provided plenty of space for lounging about, and we saved a bundle being able to cook and eat some of our meals ‘at home.’ Had it not been summer, we would have found the beds comfortable enough for our winter hibernation.

Bears also love convenience, and the Notting Hill location put everything we wanted to do within easy reach. The underground station is only a short walk around the corner, and between the underground and walking, we were able to get to the many exciting sights and activities of London within 45 minutes, and often under 20 minutes. There are a number of good take-aways, restaurants and authentic British pubs within walking distance, as well as a grocery, a chemist, two book stores and two Starbucks.

Finally, bears love pampering, and our host made sure we were pampered by having fresh fruit and wine waiting for us upon our arrival. The provided telephone and computer with wireless internet access were also very nice to have. And while we never had the need, it was comforting to know that our host was only a phone call away if a problem arose. We loved our stay in Notting Hill, and we are certain that you will too.

7/6/2007 - If you are looking to spend time in the Deadwood, South Dakota, area for your next vacation getaway, then look no further. This residence is at 7,000 feet and is the highest residence in South Dakota. It provides you all the summer activities you would desire and ski-in/ski-out availability to the Lodge at Terry Peak during the winter ski season. The owners of this property really took the time to meet their guests’ needs and went above and beyond with a special touch to make your stay the best that it can be.

This beautiful, custom-built home exceeded my bear expectations. I loved the beautiful detailed work throughout the home, the spacious bathrooms, high class décor and furnishings. The nicely equipped kitchen had everything you would need to make a gourmet meal, and the dining area was large enough to seat all my bear friends.

The large, custom windows allowed us to enjoy the surrounding expansive view from the whole back side of the home. You can sit and ponder the splendor in front of you while relaxing on the deck that stretches the full length of the home, or frolic in the hot tub under the stars in privacy. Every room provided peace and the feel that you are in the comfort of your own home. The radiant floor heating on all three levels kept my chilly paws oh so warm. This home also features a heated garage to house all your ski gear, or entertain the largest of visiting bears and their cubs.

The owners took the time to provide information on the surrounding area restaurants, shops and entertainment. If you are looking to spend more time out than in (although once you see this home, you won’t want to leave) Deadwood has endless activity opportunities such as skiing and snowboarding, snowmobiling and 4-wheeling, hiking, fishing, golf, biking, sightseeing, shopping, and gaming.

My stay was absolutely wonderful, and I know you would love it too.

6/13/2007 - Greetings from the VRBO Bear in Winter Park, Colorado! I had a fabulous time at "Brooky" lodge nestled in a quiet neighborhood conveniently located in the Fraser Valley. I sure liked how easy it was to get to.

The setting was very peaceful and relaxing, and I especially enjoyed the hot tub on the deck! The radiant floor heating all throughout the house was a treat on my cold bear paws. What a toasty way to warm up after a day out in the Rocky Mountains! With the flip of a switch I was quite cozy as I relaxed in front of the gas fireplace. I found that the satellite TV, well equipped kitchen, games and everything else I needed to feel "at home" made it a wonderful stay!

My bear taste sure did enjoy the comfy king-size bed along with a nice master bath with plenty of space. I especially enjoyed the beautiful log furnishings and décor at Brooky (kind of reminded me of back home where all my bear relatives live). What a beautiful home and a great place to bring the family!

5/20/2007 - My adventure story experiencing the "Colorado Dream Vacation" still feels like a beautiful dream! I arrived in Evergreen at 9:30 at night in the wilderness dark. It was so fun and exciting to follow the solar powered lights to the magnificent home and cabin on this mountain. It was even more gorgeous than any of the pictures I had seen of this "get into the woods and away from the city" vacation site.

The first sight was the Jacuzzi. It was so warm and cozy. Then I pounced into the amazing cabin and when I looked up, I saw the tin ceilings; and when I looked straight ahead, I saw this huge all natural mountain rock built into the family room. I couldn’t believe it! Then, as I turned to my left, there was this tall spiral wrought iron staircase that let up to the master bedroom. I couldn’t wait to see what was up there, so I climbed as fast as I could, and it was pure Colorado. It had tree trunks for night stands and a big comfy bed and a light with antlers. I felt just at home as any bear would here.

Did I mention the terracotta color slate tiles on the walls in the kitchen, bathroom and on the floor? They were so unique and wonderful, I just loved them. But my favorite was the view out these huge windows at the unforgettable Colorado Dream Cabin. I could see the tops of the trees and the moonlight - and in the morning - the blue sky.

The owner explained to me that there is a honeymoon package available including champagne, strawberries, and massage available for the most romantic getaway. I hope you find this cabin as much of a dream as I did.

5/14/2007 - When visiting Las Vegas there are so many hotel options on the main strip, but none are comparable to the accommodations in The Signature at MGM. After my short taxi ride from the airport, I arrived at the private grounds of The Signature through a gated entrance. The friendly staff greeted me with a cold bottle of water and a warm welcome. At the front desk I was acknowledged by name, given my room keys, and told I could leave my luggage downstairs; it would be at the room shortly.

I felt as if I were a superstar or wealthy millionaire the way the concierge greeted me and took care of my every request. The lobby was clean, smoke free and best of all, QUIET. Although The Signature is connected to the MGM Grand, it is not a casino, so the instant sound of the "ka-chinging" slot machines is not the first thing you hear. Over the course of my weekend stay, while walking through the lobby, I observed real celebrities including athletes and musicians also staying here.

What makes this place the best place to stay on the strip is LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! The Signature is connected directly to the MGM Grand through a private, air-conditioned corridor with moving walkways. It was so nice to be so close to all the action and many restaurant options, yet get away to my own private hideaway when I wanted to relax.

This luxurious and ultra modern 550 square foot junior suite has everything your heart could desire, above and beyond your typical hotel room. There were flat screen televisions, a jetted tub in the huge bathroom, a plush down comforter on the king-size bed and even a fully equipped kitchenette. A fridge (with bottled water…that was free!) and a microwave were nice, but the two-burner cook top, dishwashing liquid, complete utensils, toaster and blender were an extra special bonus. The bed was so comfortable and there was plenty of room to spread out in the living area. The sofa even pulls out to make an extra bed if you are sharing the suite with your friends or family.

I was there to relax, and relax I did. When staying at The Signature, you have access to the pools at The MGM, but why do that when I could enjoy the private, secluded pools here? Not once did I have to fight crowds for a lounge chair. It was tranquil with soft music playing, and there were several private cabanas and employees ready to tend to my every need. When I was done sunbathing, I would pick up my favorite cold drink from the Starbucks located right off the pool area.

If you want to be treated like a superstar and have your own private suite yet still be close to where all the action is, then this accommodation at The Signature is for you!
