  • Wonderful stay for our family!

"We spent a week here and had an absolutely wonderful experience (me and my wife, and four kids ages 9, 7, 5, and a newborn). Staying outside Beijing allowed us to experience many sides of China, and in some ways the rural parts were even more interesting than city attractions. The owner took us places we never could have ventured—very authentic cultural experiences that were interesting and enjoyable in so many small ways. We spent a few days visiting Beijing, and actually enjoyed the car ride because it gave us time to talk to her. She arranged for a driver who was extremely helpful and professional. She also attended very closely to our needs, which, because we were traveling with children, often meant changes in plans. She was extremely accommodating, and continuously worked with us to plan the best possible experiences. We sampled many restaurants, enjoyed some of her delicious home cooking, and enjoyed many local curiosities in addition to the typical (and impressive!) Beijing attractions. She was simply outstanding and very easy to get along with. Accommodations were spacious and comfortable, and gave the kids room to play. Beds and linens were very clean. I can second what another reviewer said about the hot water being limited to one user at a time, but it wasn’t inconvenient. Potential issues might be a lack of WiFi (although we had internet through the house computer) and limited cleaning. If you’re looking for a full service hotel with all the amenities, you may not find everything here. However, these slight drawbacks were far outweighed by the graciousness of our host and the wonderful experience she provided. Be sure to clarify costs beforehand. In addition to the quoted rates, we paid for all restaurant visits (including her food), all groceries for the cooking she did for us at home, the driver, and everything else. We had no problem with this, because prices were good, and it was undoubtedly worth it having her as a guide. Just realize that some costs are ambiguous, so if you’re on a budget, be sure to communicate with her about it and she’ll be very helpful. One of the best cultural experiences we have had as a family. The owner is absolutely great to work with, and did everything she could to help us have a good week. Her flexibility in this regard was particularly meaningful due to our oft-changing circumstances with kids. If you’re okay with something different than an upscale hotel, you will enjoy this stay!"

  • What's not to love about this place?

"yes indeed! to all the other positive reviews. The beauty is that now there is a fluent English speaker on board who is bright and interesting and can get you settled and answer questions and be available by phone and internet to help if you get in a bind. Neighborhood terrific: you get real China with dramatically less pollution and din of downtown Shanghai, which is a 20 minute subway ride or cab ride (depends on time of day) away. Im returning this summer with group of 9 kids, and will stay here on way in and out. What a perfect spot to get acclimated to China going in, and what a perfect apartment to collapse in after a day, week and in our case, month of going local in China. Air conditioning with all creature comforts! Trees and quiet outside! A quick subway ride to walk the Bund at night, and a safe area to walk home. What's not to love about this place? I know: if you aren't a strong walker, I'd stay elsewhere. I wouldn't bring my mom, 80, here. She has a bad back, and leans against the cart for support when she walks. If you can walk a half mile with ease, you should be fine."

  • Excellent value, great way to experience Beijing

"This was a great alternative to a hotel. I was traveling with 2 children and really appreciated a kitchen, laundry, and a little extra space. There's a playground downstairs and it was an opportunity to see what life is like in a residential neighborhood. The people in the building are really friendly and the neighborhood comes alive in the evening. Liu Pei and Alex are fantastic - so kind and friendly. They made sure we had everything we needed - really went above and beyond. We were sad to say goodbye to them!"

  • Safe, Convenient and luxurious vacation rental

"We spent the last week of July 2014 at Daisy's penthouse in Guilin, China. What an unforgettable, amazing experience. This vacation rental has everything you'll need for a relaxing and rejuvenating holiday. Daisy has been in the tourism sector for 15 years in Guilin and knows the ropes. Not only does she rent this wonderful holiday home, she also offers informative, safe and value added tours of the surrounding area. Daisy will give you an honest price and work hard to make sure your trip is everything you want it to be. Her rental is located on the top floor of an apartment/condo building and its two stories. There is plenty of room for large groups or big families which is HARD to find anywhere in China. The price is unbeatable since you aren't forced to rent 2 hotel rooms to fit your family. The rough and jagged mountains that make Guilin famous are visible from all the balconies of Daisy's place. She makes a great breakfast - which even my picky little eaters were happy with. We hired her for 4 days of touring and it was wonderful to be able to custom pick the places we wanted to go and things we wanted to do rather than join a large group. I was very impressed with the van driver Daisy choose for us. He was such a safe driver and I felt confident that he could manage the long drives on sometimes a little scary roads. She gave us great restaurant advice and made sure we were able to get where we wanted to go. A taxi ride to downtown from Daisy's place is a little far but just a couple bucks. I would highly highly recommend Daisy's rental to anyone going to Guilin. Also - if her place is already rented - contact her for tours. She's probably the most honest tour guide out there."
