  • Outstanding

"Our stay at Villa Aparna was wonderful. The house is very nicely decorated. I loved the bathroom the most but the bedrooms, outdoor area and garden were all beautiful and well kept. The location is just few steps away from the beach. The sand is very hot during the day and the shore is full of sharp rocks so make sure to bring swimming shoes with you. Once you walk few meters deep it's all nice without rocks. We were very surprised how warm the water was in the sea. There was an outdoor shower - great to remove all the sand our daughter was playing with at the beach. The swimming pool in the villa was huge and our daughter used it all the time while my husband was sitting inside a beautiful gazebo reading books and I was tanning on a lounge chair:) - we loved the outdoors so much that we did not turn TV on even once. The staff working at the villa was very friendly and nothing was ever a problem. Sudapta, the cook, always prepared what we asked for and also had good suggestions. Desi, the housekeeper, cleaned the house everyday and was also helping Sudapta. In the evening she was also preparing our bedrooms for the night. She was so sweet that our daughter really misses her now. Our driver - Gusti was very polite and very careful and we could learn a lot about Bali and culture just talking to him. The gardener and security guy were also very friendly and hard working. Patricia - the owner was always available by email and Ketut - the manager helped us to arrange all trips (I highly recommend dolphin watching) and stopped by few times to make sure all was ok. We also had a massages done few times - the villa has a beautiful balcony with a massage bed and it was very cheap so I highly recommend to book an appointment with Amy or her lovely sister. The only minus is the ride from the airport to the villa - 3.5 hours on very narrow and curvy road. Make sure to be prepared for that. But once you are there nothing matters because you are in paradise. The North part of the island is the place to go if you want to experience real Bali and villa Aparna is the place to stay there. Would love to go back there one day."

  • The perfect Penestanan retreat

"I stayed for 3 weeks with my partner at the villa & loved every moment of it. We had everything that we needed for a relaxing break. The villa is spacious and airy, we loved sitting on the verandah and taking in the view. The outlook over the rice fields is especially beautiful at sunrise. The location is ideal, a short walk from local places to eat and easy walking distance (40 mins) to down town Ubud. Booking the villa was easy as Roland was quick to respond and happy to answer any questions. During our stay we were looked after by Wayan who was equally helpful & friendly. She came to clean twice a week but was only a text away if we needed anything (which we rarely did). All in all we LOVED the villa and could not fault it at all. In a word, it is WONDERFUL!"

  • Compound Life

"Nice quiet retreat in Ubud, surrounded by nature. A 10 minute walk to the main street. Close to great coffee houses and restaurants. Perfect home base to visit the island. Bear in mind that the kitchen area is outdoors and that you are woken up very early each morning by roosters (you may actually miss them when you leave however)."

  • Good Times at the "Orchid" - Feb. 1 to Mar. 29, 2014

"From the moment we stepped through the front doorway at Margaret's "Orchid" apartment at the Bali Palms Resort, we knew we'd made the right choice to spend our two month winter get-away there. The "Orchid" had everything we had hoped for and more: spacious and nicely appointed ground floor rooms, with high ceilings; two private patio areas furnished with umbrella tables and chairs; and a large and beautiful swimming pool, all serviced by an exceptional staff. Additionally, a great bar and restaurant are located along one side of the pool just steps away. We really liked the apartment's convenience to all the resort "action," yet we had the feeling of privacy. The commercial part of town is a street lined with shops and restaurants, all within easy walking distance. When walking isn't appropriate, due to time of day, the agenda, etc., local transport is available right in front of the resort. The Bali Palms operates a free shuttle between their two properties, each at opposite ends of town with several stops along the way. It was very convenient and we used it all the time. We found no need for a rent-a-car, and we travelled all around East Bali. For an added Balinese experience, we got around on the "Bemo," an open-sided bus/van with bench seats. It was cheap and an easy way to visit the nearby towns and villages. One of the best things about staying at the "Orchid" was the convenience of the location for taking day trips to explore the island by land or water. But when not "out and about," it was fun to just hang out by the pool with other guests, watch and listen to the waves, and sip an exotic drink! Thank you Margaret, and all the Bali Palms staff, for making our stay so memorable!"
