  • Beautiful Villa in a quiet area

"Beautiful villa, great location, friendly staff. We spent a full month in Rumah Belibis and loved it. Nice pool, big comfortable bed and bathroom, a moat full of fish, loved the views of the rice fields and palm trees out back, and found the antics of the ducks endlessly entertaining. Wayan, the housekeeper/manager, was very helpful and always available by phone/text whenever we needed anything and came in to clean twice a week. Wifi is by rechargeable stick and worked very well. Don’t waste time looking at the TV channels, or channel, but their DVD and book collections are enormous. The kitchen doesn’t quite live up to the impressive care and attention to detail that was paid to the rest of the house, but is good enough. There are a number of good, reasonably-priced restaurants within a 10-15 minute walk, although that walk can get a little dull after a while. Café Vespa is only about 5 minutes away and is a popular lunch option. They were also building a small café just outside our door while we were there that will probably be open soon. We loved the fact that you could go out the gate and be in the middle of the rice fields within seconds - you can walk north to Terra Cotta Restaurant in 15-20 minutes, or cut across the fields to reach Jl Sanggingan the back way and make it a loop. There are a number of small shops and a cheap, efficient laundry within a couple minutes’ walk, and Bintang Supermarket is only 15 minutes away. It takes 30 minutes to walk to Ubud Palace, then another 5-10 to get to most of the restaurants and bars. There are plenty of taxis that will charge 50,000 to Ubud (maybe less if you are good at bargaining), or you can rent a moped for 24 hours for the same price. Almost every day we spent an hour or two wandering back roads and fascinating rice field paths, choosing among an infinite variety of routes. If you are looking for night life this might not be the ideal location, but if you are like us and prefer the quiet streets, good views and endless opportunities to roam among the rice fields then this place should suit you perfectly."

  • Magically Wonderful Place!

"My good fried Ann and I spent 3 weeks at Madrigal Guest House and we could not have asked for a more peaceful place. We loved the open floor plan and spent a lot of our time on the beautiful veranda (we stayed on the lower floor). Wonderful decor and fabulous garden, very clean and well maintained. I loved all the tile floors and large windows with large glass doors opening up to the wonderful wrap around porch. As two younger women traveling abroad we felt very safe here. Madrigal is perfectly located, far enough away from the main street to be peaceful and yet as close as a 5 minute walk to the market, 2 minutes to Warungs (restaurants) and about 15 minutes to Ubud (taxi to Ubud $3-$5 USD). We took a long walk up through the rice fields above Ubud but also enjoyed the sun coming up over the rice field off our veranda every morning w/our coffee. Bill was fabulous, welcoming us and making us feel part of the family. Ann had gotten bit by something on the eye and he went to the market to get medicine for her and coils for us to burn on the veranda. Made' was such a great cook, always asking us what we wanted for breakfast, remembering what fruits we liked best and always having it on the ready. I had gotten sick right before arriving and had a bad cough, Made' made me fresh watermelon juice every day insisting it would help...and it did! We met her daughter Kadek and we all had some laughs visiting and getting to know each others cultures. Wsukia, is Bill's driver and was just a text away if we needed him. He is a busy guy, so when we wanted an all day adventure we made plans ahead to make sure he was available. We took 3 separate trips to different parts of Bali and he was very knowledgeable and funny. He also set up transport for us to go Gili Meno and on a cycling tour. It was very helpful and affordable. I try to be objective with reviews and coming up w/ something I didn't like is a tough one here. Air conditioning on a few days would have been nice but this was really not a bother with the open air windows and ceiling fans (which the ceiling was beautiful to!) We did have a couple of geckos that hung around on the walls, they were startling at first but became our friends. We miss you Bill, Ari, Made', Kadek and Wsukia! It was a life changing trip for me and Madrigal made it even better. We will be back! Barbara & Annie"

  • Utmost comfort, hospitality, and luxury at Villa Satori

"We spent a wonderful 5 days and 4 nights at Villa Satori in early December. From booking to saying goodbye, everything about this property was five stars. Kasey was friendly, easy to contact and very helpful when booking Villa Satori. She's got great personal notes for the Ubud area on things to do, places to eat, etc. As a TV producer who is always planning travel logistics, I spent this holiday going with the flow. Villa Satori has everything that makes going with the flow easy yet productive at the same time. They have staff that are local to the Ubud area and Bali in general that are able to set up massages, day trips, etc very efficiently. The two wonderful staff members, Wayan and Ketut, are excellent. They go above and beyond in every aspect to make sure your time is comfortable. They are incredibly warm and friendly and keep the villa spotless. I wish I had them around for my own house! There is nothing more relaxing than waking up to the delicious made to order breakfasts by Wayan. If you follow it up with a in house massage (they've got a massage table or two they set up in the villa), your morning will be pretty much perfect. The villa itself is gorgeous. It's obvious the villa is a labor of love for Kasey as well as her home away from home from the details. Each room is sizable, beautifully appointed, and every bed is comfortable. It's a short walk away from the hustle and bustle of the center of Ubud, but set far enough away that you can escape it all as well. It is peaceful, serene, and you will see more of the real Indonesian life away from the crowds of tourists. It would suffice to say that everyone in my family (my parents, brother in his twenties, and husband) were sad to leave and wished we had more time to spend at the villa. When we return, we hope Villa Satori is available because we'd stay there again in a heartbeat."

  • Ubud Treasure

"While at first it was very difficult for us to send payment via bank transfer, those initial fears became completely unfounded. Not being able to pay with visa was a concern; heck, the whole world deals with visa! What we discovered through this experience was that we were dealing with warm, friendly, down-home people in Ketut and her staff. The payment method was a reflection of the care and meticulous detail that was invested in ensuring a vacation second to none. As we had stayed in Seminyak for a week, the Villa Tirta's driver, Ariya, picked us all up and transported us to the waiting luxury of this beautiful villa about 15 minutes outside of Ubud. Luxury was an understatement as we were completely awed upon arrival! The grounds are meticulously kept: the organic garden, the fabulous pool and its decking, the family temple with accompanying daily offerings ceremonies, etc. The villa itself is beyond luxurious: a spacious, clean and extremely well-stocked kitchen, three large beautiful bedroooms with fans and A/C and a large inviting dining area. The upstairs bedroom complete with a huge balcony / terrace was where my wife and I started our day with coffee and tea; it was an excellent getaway in itself for yoga meditation, internet browsing, etc. Ariya, our driver was so accommodating as he waited to take us wherever we wanted to go. Daily trips to Ubud or day-long excursions were thoroughly enjoyed in the air conditioned comfort of his spacious van. Illuh, Petu and the rest of the staff ensured that our breakfasts were always scrumptious and prepared us for a day of activity or leisure. The traditional western breakfasts or the wonderful pineapple, coconut or banana crepes were mouth watering! Dinners were also available by Illuh and the girls upon demand; they were definitely the best meals we had in Bali from the gado-gado, to the chicken satay and pork, fish and chicken dishes to the vegetarian dishes - there was something for everyone in our group. There is absolutely no doubt in our minds that we would return to this villa if we ever planned another trip to Bali. The staff of the villa Tirta Indah treated us like family and facilitated one of the most enjoyable vacations ever!"
