  • Happy to have found this apartment!

"Rented this apartment with my daughter for our recent trip to Israel. The apartment is just as pictured, met all our needs and more. The location was ideal - great for being near the Kotel, Mamilla, center of town, the light rail and pretty much anywhere else. It was great having an apartment with AC, a washer/drier, and wifi. Additionally, the owner is very nice to deal with."

  • Loved every moment!

"We’ve stayed in Jerusalem before,in hotels and in vacation apartments, but this was a winner! The location is incredible, so close to Mamilla, the Old City and the kotel. We were celebrating a family event, and we had ample room in the huge salon, with its impressive arches and domed ceiling, for entertaining all the family, together with family and friends. We created quite an atmosphere. The kitchen was kosher – we needed that. There was wifi and even a phone with a US number – great to keep up with business back home. Bedrooms were comfortable. Had TV’s that we barely turned on - we were so busy. Oh, and the patio outside was wonderful..for some morning coffee and croissants. Sharon was a pleasure to deal with, from booking, to answering our questions about guides, restaurants etc. A great experience – we wouldn’t stay anywhere else from now on."

  • A wonderful location, definetely will stay here again !

"Wonderful location and Gilla, the owner, is a very friendly, attentionate and knowledgeable person! We REALLY appreciate the fruits, cheese, eggs , etc in the kitchen, these were really helpful at our arrival :-). The house is spotless, the amenities and appearance are exactly as in the photos. We were completely charmed by the beauty of Ein Karem, and Gilla's house is a hidden gem! We decided to come again and visit this wonderful country! Thanks Gilla so much for your warm welcome!!! Shalom from France"

Jerusalem Travel Tips

Visitors to Jerusalem Vacation Rentals

Jerusalem is a city of great significance to three major faiths, namely Islam, Judaism, and Christianity. Many travelers to Jerusalem therefore visit as part of a religious pilgrimage. The city has many historic sites that are of significance to the different religions. As a city that is more than 3,000 years old, it has a deep and interesting history. The architecture is diverse and dates back several centuries. Even if you don’t have a religious interest, you can appreciate the city’s wealth of interesting sites.

When to Visit Jerusalem Apartments

The popular tourist seasons tend to revolve around significant holidays in the various religious calendars. Many Christians come to Jerusalem at Easter time to visit the sites associated with the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. The summers are hot and dry with temperatures frequently reaching around 30 degrees Celsius. Winters are relatively mild but very wet. Most of the rainfall occurs between October and April. The coldest months are generally December and January and light snowfalls have been known to occur. Most visitors tour Jerusalem in the summer months as the vast majority of attractions and sites are outdoors.

Getting to Jerusalem

The nearest international Airport is Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv. Several major international airlines have regularly scheduled flights into Tel Aviv. For flights from the USA and North America, you will most likely have to route via one of the major European cities. The airport has very strict security measures and it is not uncommon for security staff to interrogate arriving visitors in depth and search their luggage. Be prepared for lengthy delays in getting through security and customs and make sure that all your travel documentation is in order.

The Ben Gurion Airport is linked to Jerusalem by Highway 1 and travel time is between 40 and 50 minutes if there is no traffic congestion. The easiest way to travel to Jerusalem from the airport is by taxi. Check the fare before setting out, it is usually a set fare. There are also regular buses that run between Jerusalem and the airport. These are somewhat cheaper but you may have a bit of a walk from the bus stop to your apartment upon your arrival in Jerusalem.

Significant Sites Near Jerusalem Lodging

Most of the religious historic sites are contained within the Old City. For Jewish visitors, the most holy sites in Jerusalem are the Temple Mount and the Western Wall. The wall is also known as the Wailing Wall. It is believed to be the only remaining wall of the original temple built more than 2,000 years ago. Jewish people from all around the world come to the wall to petition their prayers for the restoration of Jerusalem and the nation of Israel. Small pieces of paper can be seen protruding from the cracks in the wall. These are the prayers left by visitors.

Also on the temple mount is the most important Islamic site in the city. Here you will find the Dome of the Rock which is an impressive golden dome decorated with verses from the Koran. It is also the site of Al-Aqsa Mosque which marks the spot where the prophet Mohammed is believed to have ascended to heaven.

For Christians, there are several significant sites well worth visiting. The Via Dolorosa is believed to follow the path of Jesus’s last day on earth. It travels from the Garden of Gethsemane through the Stations of the Cross up to Golgotha where the crucifixion took place. There are many shrines and chapels at different places along the route. There is also the Garden Tomb where it is believed Jesus was buried, as well as the nearby Mount of Olives where he ascended into heaven.
