  • A delightful, happy tatami house

"This small tatami townhouse was perfect for me and my daughter since it had two separate bedrooms. The house is fully equipped and easy to operate. It is on a very quiet lane but close to everything we wanted and needed (trains, supermarket, subway, restaurants and department stores). Actually, this was my second stay at the house; I was there 5 years ago with my son and would go back again in a flash. If VRBO allows it, I would be pleased to be contacted directly by potential renters."

  • Good location and lots of space

"The location is very convenient (5-7 mins walk to 2 train stations). The Machiya is very big, so definitely enough for 4-6 pax. It was well equipped with a full kitchen, washer/dryer and all necessary amenities. The many bathrooms and vanities were great. However, the bathrooms being outside the main Machiya was tricky....just run! Mimi was very responsive with all my enquiries. There was a slight problem during check-in...which we really couldn't tell if we were told ahead of time! The cleaners couldn't clean the place properly due to some plumbing issues but Mimi was fantastic. She emailed, called and sms-ed to alert us of this issue. We dropped our bags and the cleaners then did a thorough clean up. I definitely will recommend this Machiya for a family or a group of 4-7 pax. As I write this review, I have already contacted the owner for my next trip."

  • Great Traditional Stay

"There are a number of positives about this small house. First, it's location is great - just a few blocks from great restaurants and shopping and just a few blocks from easy train and bus options. Next is Rieko who helped us so much with advice and suggestions for restaurants, etc. We also appreciated the huge washer/dryer which we used a lot given how hot it was that week and arriving after a week in Tokyo. The house is immaculately clean and the futons were comfortable. The stairs are steep to the bedroom so it was a bit of a lug to get our heavy suitcases up there but otherwise my tall husband was able to adapt to the short headroom with no problem. The bathroom is large and has a nice big shower. We did appreciate the small sofa upstairs and desk chair as our aging backs did get tired using just the floor seats (its the up and down that we're not used to). All in all, we recommend this property!"
