  • Amazing property that embodies the beauty of Kyoto!

"I stayed at the Gion House for 5 days with my husband and 2 children (2 and 7 years old) and we were so impressed. The house itself is absolutely beautiful and all the materials used in construction (remodeling) are of the very best quality. The high-tech bathtub system, toilet, W/D is so impressive. But the Japanese detail and design is the best feature of this michiya. I spent so much time just taking pictures of this fantastic property. So happy I stayed here and not in a traditional hotel- I really felt like I was coming home each night after a long day of sightseeing. We ate all our breakfasts here at the house and a couple dinners. The kitchen is small but surprisingly fully functional - it even includes a rice maker! We did several loads of laundry (necessary with my messy kids) and we just love the W/D - wow! And the futons were so comfortable and the pillows are amazing. We loved the pillows so much that we were thinking about buying some to take home. We priced them out at the local Dept store in Kyoto and they cost $150 each!! Too rich for my blood but wow, I will never forget sleeping on those plastic pillows, they're amazing!! The windows are amazing! We were just stunned at the high quality windows and appliances. Also the bathroom was great - I never skipped a bath or soak in that amazing tub! Again, it's a small tight bathroom but everything is so neat and perfectly designed - it works very well. I was a little concerned about the steep stairway and my kids but we kept them downstairs and it wasn't an issue. All I can say is that you will not be disappointed if you stay at this property - it's amazing in every way"

  • Wonderful stay at Kiyomizu house

"Staying at the Kiyomizu house was a wonderful experience for us. Acco was very helpful and a great resource of local information. The location was very convenient to buses, groceries, shopping, the Gion district, temples, yet so very quiet. The house was air-conditioned which was great to return to after a day of sighseeing in the humid summer heat. The house was small but quite adequate for the four adults in our party. We We really loved the tatami room, the large table and chairs, and the kitchen had all that we needed for cooking, though we ate out mostly. We highly recommend the house and would gladly return if the opportunity arises in the future!"

  • Family trip in Kyoto

"Fumiko's house is very comfortable and is well located (bus station within 5 min walk). We stayed with our 16- months-old baby and it was very convenient. The house is beautiful and very clean with everything you need. Fumiko is very helpful and makes every effort to make herself understand in english. We enjoyed our stay and recommend it for a pleasent journey in japanese style in Kyoto."

  • Enjoyable stay in this traditional Japanese accommodation

"We enjoyed staying in this authentic traditional Japanese home for almost one week. The stated description and the photos accurately reflect the rental's appearance, the facilities and the surrounding area. The property was clean and well-maintained. The owner was available to answer any questions and concerns we had. He is very kind and a fluent English speaker. We particularly appreciated the sober elegance of the interior, the comfort of the futon beds and the practical washing/drying machine. Less practical was the lack of storage area in the kitchen. The accomodation is well located near public transportation and in an attractive area. We can recommend this accomodation to anyone interested in living in a traditional Japanese house, which also means some limitations but overall is a a worthwhile experience."
