  • Great staff and everything as advertised

"It had been a while since the last review on this property so I was naturally a bit skeptical. But the place is as advertised, both written and in photos. Spacious large rooms, clean, well maintained inside and outside, and attentive staff (cook, housekeeper, gardner, and property manager). We were a family of 10 on a 50th wedding anniversary reunion for my in-laws. We had a very relaxing stay for 6 nights here over Christmas 2013. The cook did a great job with breakfast making creative western and Indonesian dishes. On request, she cooked lunch for us twice and it was delicious. The massage girls arrived every morning on time for our daily $8 per hour per person massage and they were very good. Nengah Wirayasa, the property manager and responder to all emails was a man of his word. The property itself is tucked away behind the Villa Lumbung hotel, so it is a 5 min walk to the main road, and a 15 min walk to The Breeze (Hotel Samaya) and the Seminyak Lodge and Hotel. Calling a meter taxi to the villa was not a problem. Worth staying at in Seminyak. Highly recommended."

  • Small but efficient, great location!

"Small apartment (though spacious for Tokyo standards). Exactly as described. Thoughtfully furnished and clean. We had no problem sleeping 8 people there. We were out in the city most of the time, so this was a great place to crash. Just a few blocks from a great subway (and Japan Rail) station. Nakano area has everything you need: shopping arcade that goes on for blocks, grocery store, restaurants, etc. Neighbors and neighborhood were quiet. Host Makoto was great via e-mail beforehand. He greeted us at the train station and was careful to explain everything, but we were jetlagged and missed a few things. Would have been helpful to have some English labeling/stickers on the remotes for air conditioners and washing machine. Garbage sorting procedures (6 differeent bins!!!) could have been more clearly labelled as well. Overall - recommend highly. Can't beat the price and the amenities/ location."

Philippines Travel Tips

Seasons to Visit Philippines Vacation Rentals

The Philippines has a hot tropical climate. Instead of the four traditional seasons known in other parts of the world, the Philippine climate is divided into three distinct seasons. These follow the rainfall cycles. From March through May, the weather is hot and dry. This is the season that is often referred to as the summer season and a popular time of year for visitors. This is followed by the rainy season which occurs from June through November. The heavy rains make traveling around difficult and this is considered the low tourist season. The more temperate dry season is from December to April. For those who want to enjoy a warm vacation without the stifling heat, this is the best time of year to travel.

Attractions and Activities near Philippines Beach Houses

One of the most famous beach destinations in the Philipines is Boracay. The area is known for its pristine white beaches and shimmering turquoise waters. It is a slice of pure paradise. There are many vacation homes in the area that offer you unrivaled views out over the bay and easy access to the beach and nearby attractions. Other famous beach areas include El Nido, Pagudpud and Puerto Galera.

The Banaue Rice Terraces in Batad are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. These ancient terraces have been the mainstay of the local agriculture for a number of centuries. Other cultural sites include the European-style colonial town of Vigan, the beautiful Baroque churches in Manila and the old colonial buildings that are landmarks in the various town and cities. In Quiapo, you can see a unique example of a basilica constructed entirely from steel. It is the only one of its kind in Asia. There are several significant historical sites in Manila including Rizal Park and Intramunos.

If you enjoy nature and the outdoors, the Philippines has a wealth of attractions for you. You can explore the forests and mountains on ancient trekking routes. You can join a whitewater rafting excursion at Davao. There are many excellent rock climbing sites. Some of the most popular can be found in El Nido and Wawa Gorge.

Traveling to Philippines Villas

The main international airport is located in the capital city of Manila. The airport hosts a variety of international carriers from neighboring Far East countries as well as Australia and North America. There are frequent commercial flights into Manila. For travelers from Europe or the United States, if you cannot find a direct flight, you may need to consider flight routings via Hong Kong, Taiwan, Tokyo or Singapore. There are regular regional flights from all these destinations to Manila and most have convenient connection times with other international destinations. To get from Manila to some of the other islands, you may need to use a combination of domestic flights and local ferries. In the cities, there are buses and taxis but in more remote parts, public transportation is very limited. Because of the dense populations in the main cities, there are often traffic restrictions. When staying in the cities, it is best to make use of taxis or public transportation to get around, as navigating the streets in a rental car can prove to be hazardous.

Visitors to the Philippines

The Philippines is a unique travel destination. It has beautiful beaches and mountains as well as many places that attract those with cultural interest. It is definitely a destination for the more adventurous type of traveler. If you are used to the glitzy resorts of the Caribbean, this is probably not the type of destination for you. But for those who can appreciate the rustic qualities of the Philippines, you can have a truly memorable vacation here.
