"First, this is a LOVELY home. We really did enjoy our stay. The home is tastefully decorated, the pool was perfect, and beach access was just steps away.
The pool was shoulder deep the entire length (I am 5'9" tall), and the temp was inviting. It has water jets with a bench ledge, but not a jacuzzi. There are lights for night swimming.
The house is actually two buildings. When you enter the property from the street (it has a sliding gate that you lock for security) there is a doorway to the upstairs bedroom (king bed, private bathroom, TV & AC. Limited Wifi connection). You walk around the building to access the downstairs bedroom (same set up, nicer bathroom with an additional outdoor shower with HOT water! WIFI works).
The main house has an apt sized kitchen, with the washer/dryer unit & toilet, a DR table and then sofas. The accordion doors open to the pool and beach (lovely view!). The main house has a ceiling fan, standing fan and AC. There is no TV in this building.
The environs are decent. We ate at the Cook-Kai right across the street. The food was delicious, reasonably priced, nice variety of Thai & Western dishes. Nick suggested the Roi Thai up the road. The service was terrible, the ambience dreary, pricier than the Cook-Kai, but a prettier "presentation" of the food. It is "beach front", so if you were there for drinks at sunset, I am sure it would be lovely. LOTS of bars along the road. There are a few places to purchase snacks and drinks. The 7-11 convenience store is about a 2mile RT up on the main road. You can purchase eggs, yogurt, bread and juices there.
Now for the bad news:
We were there from Sept 28-Oct2. The shops close by along the road were closed until Oct 1st. The beach tide was dumping trash onto the beach 2x daily. We spent time picking up the "non-organic trash". The "limited" cable TV service didn't work until the evening of Oct 1st (called Nick). The main house AC gave out on Wed Sept 30th. Not repaired during our stay, which made the main house suffocatingly hot when it was closed up in the evening to avoid mosquitos and in the morning before we opened the doors. The home would benefit from 1)small microwave in the kitchen. 2) DVD player and a monitor/screen in the main house, better for family viewing. Yard workers from 8:30-10:00am our last day. We left at 11:00am. Ideally Nick should manage that schedule better.
Allow 3hours from airport and 4 hours to airport for transport."
