Large comfortable house for a larger group
"Skiing at Fernie didn't have much snow this year, but the Tightlines Lodge was a fantastic headquarters for our group. There are lots of bedrooms with comfortable beds, a hot tub with a fantastic view of the mountains, and a BBQ that works with all the tools you need. The two main floors each have a large living room so some people watching TV doesn't interfere with others that are visiting upstairs. It is an easy walk to downtown and restaurants and only about a 10 minute drive to the Fernie ski hill (1.5 hours to Kimberley). Gord was also very friendly and helpful when we had questions or needed something. I will come back here when we return in a year with snow."

"We have done VRBO's for a number of years and seem to be able to feel what we are getting into after chatting with the owners, or communicating in some form or other.
After talking with Carol (owner), there was no question in regards to integrity. I felt totally comfortable in sending her a deposit and moving forward with confidence.
When we arrived the openness and the display of trust was beyond our experience. And, the bottle of red wine with the "have a wonderful time" note sealed our total belief of everything that we had come to know.
Anyone who wants a family gathering in a rustic environment with all the amenities of a 5Star environment, I would recommend wholeheartedly to try this little nugget in the BC Rockies.
Not only was the home second to none but the entire SKI hill with all of its activities really keep everyone busy and full of life!
We especially loved the hot tub, the games table, the dream kitchen, the fire pit and the construction of the LOG home. Not to mention the master bedroom with all of its antiques, comes right out of a Better Homes and Gardens Magazine.
Nonetheless, if you love the outdoors, and if you want to get away, book this high-end log home, situated in a quaint little hamlet in lower British Columbia.
We sure are grateful that owners like this are willing to share something of this quality with others. Enjoy!"

"We just stayed at Alpine Aerie during the Feb break. We were three families sharing and found we had more than enough room. The cabin was well-stocked with everything we needed - plenty of (glasses and dishes too) and the location is fantastic! I would definitely stay here again."

"A half dozen of my friends and I get together every year for a week of skiing. We change resorts almost every year and this year, we decided on Fernie. We often get condo style accommodations but Snow Lake House (SLH) looked like a perfect fit to have us all in one place. Easy walk (or drive, if you want) to the hill, hot tub, 5 bedrooms...
Mike and Anna have just completed a great reno that adds a beautiful stone and cedar facade and balcony to the front of the house along with a great entrance hallway. The front of the home is visually miles ahead of what appears on the VRBO pictures (as of Feb 2015). All three upstairs bathrooms have obviously been recently upgraded. Beautiful job.
The hot tub, kitchen and dining room and two bedrooms look out over Snow Lake (not really a "lake", but bigger than a pond) toward the ski hill. With not-so-great ski conditions this year, it wasn't always the view we wanted to see, but I can imagine that waking up on on a pow day and looking at fresh snow on the trees would be inspiring. Probably pretty nice in the summer, too!
The living areas of the house are great. Very large and utile kitchen, big dining room (sat 14 when we had guests for dinner), and a comfortable living room with fire place on the main level and furnished rec room in the basement with its own TV and a pool table. No keys to lose... Mike had coded locks for all the doors and changed them (and the ski locker combination) to match my cell phone, so we were comfortable that nobody else had the numbers... not that it really mattered; I don't think there is a high crime rate here. The ski locker on the hill was great and held, realistically, 3 pairs of skis... 4 if you packed it carefully. With a rental pair and someone in for a tune every night, we didn't have to carry skis back and forth, but it wouldn't have been a problem anyway due to proximity.
The hot tub was freshly changed for our arrival. Mike had a service come in every couple of days to make sure it stayed that way. It was used every day.
Snow Lake House is obviously a well loved and maintained home. I would recommend it to families and guys and/or girls getaway groups anytime. Everyone in my group thought it was an excellent choice! When we get back to Fernie, Snow Lake House will be our first choice."
