  • Great stay

"We spent the weekend here so we could attend a wedding in the area. The cottage itself was perfect for us. It has everything you need in terms of amenities and kitchen gear. There a lovely covered deck to sit and enjoy the views of the lake and a larger seating area below with table for dining outdoors. The beds were comfortable and the cottage was very clean. Our damage deposit was promptly returned to us in under a month. Although we didn't spend any time on the lake, the same owners have a cottage below where you can use the lakefront and kayaks. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this cottage to others."

  • Beautiful Hideaway on a Hidden Gem of an Island

"We stayed here in July 2014 with 2 adults, one child and an infant. We've spent time on neighbouring Hornby (we were even married there) and had initially intended to book our vacation there. When we couldn't find a rental in our price range, we decided to "settle" for Denman. Denman, as many locals subsequently told is, is the "speedbump" of the Gulf Islands. Everyone has to cross it to get to Hornby but they're all slightly annoyed that it slows their trip. Well, hopefully most people keep thinking that way as then we know Denman won't be spoiled for our next trip! Driftwood Cottage is a beautiful, quiet, secluded getaway - just as advertised. We arrived here after a few weeks of very busy family visiting that involved quite a bit of traveling. As soon as we pulled off the ferry, we could feel the pace of our vacation slow considerably (the islands are great for this!). The cottage is very well equipped and in the perfect location to explore a good chunk of the island: easy walking to Fillongley, easy drive to swimming lakes and ice cream (key on a hot summer's day with a 5 year old!), we spent so much time exploring the southern part of the island that we didn't even make it to the north (where I gather there are beautiful sand beaches). The sleeping arrangements worked well for us with the adults and infant in the bedroom and our 5 year old in the loft (one note: the loft is right over the living area, no problem for us as we spent evenings outside but might not be ideal for younger kids if the weather was bad). David was extremely helpful from the get-go and was very patient with our many questions and small changes to travel plans/numbers of guests etc. Without question, one of the easier owners I've ever dealt with for a vacation rental (we've rented all over the world). Thanks for a stay! We will be back!"

  • " Dream Home away from Home "

"I'm so thankful that I was able to find this dream of mine for our trip to Victoria. My boyfriend and I came out to BC for the weekend, so we needed something quick and affordable. I can honestly say without a doubt that we got to stay in our dream home at our dream location. A beach 2 minute walk from the door, a local WONDERFUL grocer and PUB 10-15 minute walk up the beach, AMAZING views and central to almost everything. It's about 30 minutes from the airport, but we took the longer way through the Mount Douglas parkway. This location was a surprise for my boyfriend and it was absolutely breath taking. We are simple people, who don't need a lot and we had EVERYTHING we needed to enjoy the weekend. There is a TV with channels and DVD's but we didn't even use it. There is so much to do! Downtown Victoria isn't far, the beach is right there, golf up the road, and hiking all over. The views are spectacular! If it wasn't a mountain, ocean, deer or bikers you had the smell of the ocean and cooling winds to entertain you. We also had about 5 family members over for breakfast, we had everything we needed to cook the food, and a place for everyone to sit. For a small little cottage it packs enourmous charm and whizmical features. If you are wanting to do A LOT of sightseeing I do recommend a rental car, if you want to find a place to just sit in quiet and have all the necessities right by you can do without one ( just keep in mind distance from airport ). The owners were fantastic, and care more about providing a wonderful, easygoing visit to their guests then they care about overcharging. They take PRIDE in what they do, and they do it very well. I am and will forever be grateful for this trip, and to meet this wonderful couple who are grateful for all the have and the ppl they get to meet. I smile as I write this because I know I will be back, and I know EXACTLY where I will be staying! Wake up to the ocean, and go to bed with the ocean -- who could ask for more?"
