  • It depends...

"Let’s get one thing straight. There are better places than “Galiano Getaway”. Statistically, it’s very likely that within our own galaxy’s 40-odd billion earth-sized planets in those habitable zones of sun-like red dwarf stars you will find at least half a dozen better properties. That is if you are moved by houses nestled in forests populated by great stalwart (advanced second-growth) Douglas and teasing half-naked beautiful twisting Arbutus trees on all sides, a sloping forest floor patchwork of moss-covered rocks of many sizes and colours, dappled with strewn Arbutus leaves, all of it primeval, enchanted; or by a broad balcony hosting easy chairs, a dinner table and a barbecue grill and accommodating itself brilliantly to a wide, Westward view of rosy-blue dawns, orange sunsets, cloudless full-moon-lit skies (Thursday and Friday) over the muted ripples of Tricomali Strait waters of the Salish Sea; or by cozy indoor living spaces, crackling woodstove fires on a surprising great hearth-stone and well-stocked bookshelves and video drawers; for such folk, like for our family, it will seem a privilege to have experienced this unforgettable enchanted place. But it all depends on what one likes and how far one is prepared to travel."

  • Serenity on the Salish Sea!

"No car traffic noise, no barking dogs, no squawking roosters! Perfect peace and quiet. Wonderful home that blends in with its surrounding woods. Bedrooms were wonderful and comfortable. The rock formations leading down to the water were fun to walk on, read a book on and just lay around on and constantly changed with the light. Sunrises and sunsets were gorgeous. Hot tub was an especial delight and was well-maintained. Road was quiet and about 1/2 mile walk to great swimming beach and about 1 mile to grocery stores. An absolute delight and treasure!"

  • Cozy cottage

"Our week at the cottage was truly wonderful. We had a relaxing week with everything we needed in the cottage or close by. The island has great, local restaurants, a market that I would love to have in my own neighborhood! The market is filled with locally grown food, flowers, and a cozy coffee shop inside. Hidden behind a few trees is a fabulous Thai restaurant! We went hiking on clearly marked trails, visited several art galleries and a most delightful bookstore. It was absolutely quiet except for the sound of an occasional ferry. I recommend this cottage for those who need a break from noise and traffic and want to read, eat, kayak, and hike easy trails. Bring a good book and enjoy the view."

  • Peaceful and Tranquil - Perfect Place to Unwind

"We had a wonderful week at this oceanfront cottage. Sheila greeted us on arrival, and pointed out that the whales (orcas) were coming through the Active Pass. We saw them nearly every day, as well as otters, seals, deer, a raccoon, bald eagles and other birds such as cedar waxwings, turkey vultures, kingfishers and herons. This cottage has the perfect setting, and the large windows give a great view. The sunrises were spectacular, and there were shore access points to enjoy at a few minutes' walk away. Galiano Island has that "get away from it all" feel, with a slower, gentler pace of life. The cottage is in keeping with that, and has a beautiful old-fashioned charm about it. We enjoyed walking down to the bakery and book shop at Sturdies Bay, and also the Saturday Market. The Bluffs, Bellhouse Provincial Park, Arbutus Point Road and the shore access points at Mary Ann Road were great places to walk with our dogs. Thank you Sheila and Keith for sharing this property with us and allowing us to bring our dogs, who also had a great time."
