  • Perfect multi-generational family get-away on magical Pender!

"Visiting Pender and staying at Brigitte's beautiful spot was one of our best family vacations ever (and we have traveled a lot!). My senior parents from Montreal joined my family of four (kids aged 11, 14) and small dog. We all had lots of room, cozy beds, and full kitchen to prepare meals including BBQ. Brigitte was warm and welcoming; very thorough and responsive to our every need. Her home is large, immaculate and provided a perfect homebase for adventure and exploration as well as a superb spot for rest and relaxation; Something for everyone, including a spectacular, expansive view (photos don't capture the feeling and beauty of this) over the San Juan islands and easy access to Poet's Cove Resort for kayaking, swimming, tennis, dining and time at the spa. Brigitte shared everything we needed to know to enjoy this wonderful island: Sea Star winery, hikes, Saturday market, restaurants (cafe at hope bay was our favourite!), art studio visits, where/when to buy fresh crab, etc. However, her vast selection of books, games and videos, combined with comfy seating, hot tub and ping pong table meant that we really didn't have to go anywhere, which was a great option when we wanted to stay put and enjoy quieter family time. Our thanks to Brigitte and the countless friendly islanders for offering such a fun and rewarding experience! Ps Brigitte is right when she states that water access is challenging. Even though we are experienced rock climbers and hikers, we accessed the waterfront at other points to ensure our safety. One last note: We really didn't miss these, but in utopia, would love to have stairs/dock to access the water for such activities as kayaking and use the gorgeous pool, as it is so tempting, especially for the kids, to see it and not be able to use it...But pool and kayaking at Poet's Cove (5 minute bike ride!) and water access close by were wonderful. Bottom line: Full 5 star rating for sure!"

  • Lovely place on South Pender Island

"We had a great time on Pender Island(s), in no small part thanks to this fantastic house. We found it to be spacious, clean, and very well stocked for our needs. We only needed to bring our own food, everything else was available and in great condition. Our kids loved the games and video collection! The property is located on South Pender Island, near Gowlland Point which is a beautiful and quiet beach with a hiking trail. The roads are great and it was easy to explore both islands. All in all, a highly recommended place!"

  • Amazing

"The cliff house is truly one of a kind. We watched a pod of orcas pass by. Witnessed a bald eagel with her baby in a nest just below the deck. The farmers market, the nights stars. Amazing."

  • Fantastic 60th Birthday get-away!!!!!

"We just got home from our one week stay at this lovely oceanfront vacation home. I want to turn around and go back to enjoy one more sunset followed by a soak in the fantastic tub with the full ocean view. This home has everything you could ever need to stay awhile and so much room for everyone. There were 4 of us on this get-away ... each of us had our own room ( 2 with picture perfect views) and 2 extra large bathrooms. Most of us found the beds comfortable. The livingroom/diningroom can easily accomodate a good size group without any problems. There is a deck that runs the whole length of the house and has a table and chairs for outside dining plus 4 lounge chairs to sit and soak up some rays. Loved the deck! The home was clean and had lots of available linen, laundry soap, etc. so there was little need to buy anything extra other than bottled water. We used the kitchen on a regular basis and after a little hunt and find we were able to find most everything we needed. The owner readily responded to any inquiries and I felt comfortable dealing with her. Pender Island is very laid back so if you want a place to sit back and relax this is the island for you! We found a number of trails/beaches that were perfect for getting out and about to see the local sights and wildlife. Down at Thieves Bay some of our group saw a small pod of Orcas just 15 feet off shore. We also spotted a humpback whale , porpoises, seals, and daily deer sightings (even under the deck). The one and only shopping "mall" had all the basics , including a grocery store/liquor store/post office/bakery/book store/gift shop/gas station, and pharmacy. There is a small farmer's market on saturday mornings - fun to pick up some local art or fresh vegies. We even visited a local winery and tasted two lovely white wines produced on the island. Lunch/brunch on sunday was at the Cafe at Hope Bay ... a gorgeous location for a nice little restaurant ,with a lot of local color and good food. What more can I say.... we will definately be back."
