  • Lovely lakeside escape

"Our family of three took the cabin for a week in July. It's a truly lovely home from home - comfortable and well appointed, incredible lakeside views and a wonderful location. The dock on the lake is wonderful for swimming and boating from, the lakeside bunkie is a spectacular place for an afternoon nap or an overnighter, and the cabin is lovely and cozy. There was quite a lot of boat and waterskiing traffic on the lake, particularly at the weekend, but it wasn't a problem, and if you're into that sort of thing, it's likely a big plus. The hosts were wonderfully accommodating, punctual and couldn't have been more helpful. An all around success."

  • Exceeded our Expectations!

"My husband and I spent ten glorious days in this suite in March 2015. This outstanding suite has stunning panoramic views (day and night) from every room. The kitchen is well-equipped with modern appliances and plenty of dishes, glassware, etc. The building is situated in a central downtown location, making many of the popular tourist sights (the Parliament Buildings, the museum, the inner harbour, etc.), and a myriad of restaurants and shops, within easy walking distance. We also appreciated the security within the building, and the secure underground parking, with provision for temporary visitor parking as well. The furniture was stylish, and the suite was very cozy and clean. We found the beds to be very comfortable, and loved the rain showers in the bathrooms. We were welcomed upon our arrival and given a tour of the building, the rooftop terrace, and the suite itself. Radie was very receptive to questions, and attentive to our needs. We would highly recommend this suite."

  • I'm always suspicious when a review is too good. It could be written by the owner or agent.

"But I am not the owner or agent - just an over 60 year old woman with three kids and five grandkids three generations all had the wonderful experience of staying in the Lake House. It's a charming place that is full of character and interesting details. Everything you need is there - from games, to water toys, videos and DVD's, to recliners for those of us that like to nap, comfortable beds, very clean - and all the cooking utensils you could want. As I love to cook and my son is a chef, that is saying a great deal. Lots of nooks and crannies on the properties with chairs to sit and look at the view. A wonderful deck overlooking the lake and a tremendous beach with a dock and a diving board. The water is warm and the beach is sandy. Easy to get to from Port Alberni. So many things to do at the cabin that we rushed our visits to town so we could get back (I was going to say "home again" because it feels like home and corrected myself). Our eclectic family spent four nights there and as soon as we got home, we booked a week next summer. One part of me wants to share this wonderful place with others - hence the review. The other part of me wants to keep it secret so we will always be able to book it. I guess I am taking the high road. Cathy B"

  • Great value, welcoming hosts, romantic and private setting.

"This was our second time at Tranquility Cottage. We chose this location for a number of reasons: proximity to dining options, peacefulness, privacy, serenity, access to hiking opportunities, and a hot tub to unwind and relax in at day's end. We were not disappointed. Being avid walkers, the 3.5 km trek to town was minor and helped us work off the dinners and wine from the many great dining venues in Ganges. There are many hiking trails on Salt Spring Island, ranging in difficulty from easy to strenuous. Kim and Philip provided maps and literature in the cottage to assist us in our choices for hiking adventures. The cottage was equipped with everything we needed and even a welcome basket containing fresh eggs, bread, organic milk, juice, fruit, and preserves was there upon our arrival. There was a plethora of videos, music, games, and reading material available to fill in those few minutes we didn't spend relaxing. Kim and Philip were great hosts and ensured that we enjoyed our stay while affording us our privacy. It was a distinct pleasure to recline in the hot tub under the stars, all the while being serenaded by a chorus of frogs. A stellar opportunity to relax and rejuvenate in this bucolic setting. We highly recommend Tranquility Cottage. Cheers! Marg and Jim, Victoria, B.C."
