  • A peaceful place to get away!

"We stayed here for a week recently and woke up to deer grazing out front on 2 of the mornings. It is unbelievably quiet, and the views are absolutely stunning! We sat out on the deck every morning with a cup of coffee watching the woodpeckers, taking in the view, and enjoying the ferry making its way to and from Fulford Harbour each day. This never got old! And each night, we'd take our glass of wine outside and do the same thing. At dusk or just before the sun is disappearing, the bats come out and they are amazing to watch swoop for bugs. We came to Salt Spring for a quiet and restful vacation (even though the hubby had to do some work), and that's what we got! The cabin includes everything you need to be comfortable for a week, and a strong WiFi internet connection. We also enjoyed having Netflix! Some of the restaurants we tried: Seaside at Vesuvius - VERY YUMMY mussels!!; Tree House Cafe - great food and neat place to eat; Rock Salt at Fulford Harbour - wonderful view and friendly waitress; Fernwood Cafe - good for breakfast out; Moby's Pub - great food and great place to meet some locals and enjoy watching your favourite sports on big screen TVs. Absolutely go whale watching with Ian (1-888-656-9878). He knows where those whales are and if there are lots of whale watching boats out, he seems to be the guy who just knows where they will pop up next. Its a red zodiac, and he's parked at Ganges harbour (his office is beside Salt Spring Adventures). We saw 4 transient killer whales on our venture - spectacular! He won't go out if there's no whales. Also a must do is the Farmer's Market on Saturday - lots of fun! The owner Judy was great to deal with."

  • Woderful Getaway

"We spent a beautiful week at 'Suncrest Cottage' in February (2015). The cottage is clean, comfy and a wonderful home away from home. We intended on travelling to a couple of the other Gulf Islands but found we had plenty to do and see on Salt Spring Island. We will return again, undoubtedly! Maria had our fridge stocked with eggs, granola, milk, and homemade cake and jam. Both the welcoming and the sunshine were lovely and warm. :) PS Check out the Fernwood coffee shop up the street, a great place too! TNB"

  • Great Getaway on Saltspring

"This lovely 5 bedroom heritage house overlooks Ganges so you can easily walk to town to explore the shops, art galleries, restaurants, the Market, etc. Yet the house is secluded. The scent of the cedar trees over the back patio was intoxicating. The house is comfortable, well equipped, artfully decorated and met all of our needs so was perfect in every way for our girls' getaway. There were nine of us and we never felt crowded. Lots of space. The view from the house is amazing. We were all curious about the history of the house and it would have been nice to have had that on hand. We hope to make our getaway an annual event and if we decide on Saltspring again, we will definitely come back to this house and will recommend it to others. Thank you!"

  • Beautiful Salt Spring Island

"We are a family of four from New Zealand and we loved our stay at Juniper Cottage. The location is perfect, quiet and peaceful, yet close enough to markets for farm-fresh supplies. The cottage gave us loads of space to spread out while also drawing us together for meals in the beautiful kitchen and deck area. The cottage has been lovingly updated and very well stocked - we had everything we needed from a coffee bean grinder to all the pans and dishes for roasted lamb dinner, to towels, linens, and blankets for snuggling by the fire. The teenagers loved the foosball, ping pong, and stove for s'mores. We all loved the stunning view and private beach. The owners have compiled a very helpful binder of information on the cottage, local restaurants, outdoor activities. We went hiking, beach combing and sea kayaking and saw seals, otters, eagles, porpoise, white tailed deer, numerous other bird life and sea life right at our doorstep. Our time on SSI was magic and we will be back to Juniper Cottage!!"
