  • Waterfront cottage Nanoose Bay

"We stayed here for a week in August. The cottage is exactly as pictured. It is huge, and the views are stunning of the ocean, offshore islands and mountains in the distance. We were very comfortable, and used the recently renovated kitchen and BBQ to eat most of our meals in. We found it to be very clean and well maintained. The layout would be perfect for multiple couples or families with children and lots of room to spread out, both indoors and out. The local grocery store in Nanoose is only about a 10 minute drive. The Marina restaurant has closed, but lots available in Parksville 10-15 minute drive away. We enjoyed exploring a number of the local parks, beaches and trails with our dog, and unwinding. There were some neat markets and galleries in the area as well. We would definitely come back, and have recommended it to friends. We felt for the size, view and quality it was very good value. It is built on a slope as seen in the pictures, so there are a few stairs from the parking level down to the cottage, and then stairs down to the beach, so might be not suitable for all."

  • Girl Trip

"We had a fantastic mother/daughters trip to Victoria & i was so glad we stayed on the lake & got away from the city a bit. The house is beautiful and so charming with the ivy covered rock walls & the boat dock where we had our coffee every morning. Val & Roy have decorated it very nicely and it feels so comfortable, i wanted to move right in! They are the perfect hosts, so friendly and welcoming! Thanks so much to you both! cbp p.s.very important! The beds are also very comfortable! All of us slept great!"

  • Amazing view and great location close to town!

"The house is in an incredible location, walking distance to town and Tonquin beach. We were wowed as soon as we walked in by the view from both inside the house and from the deck. Sunsets were incredible and we enjoyed watching the resident bald eagle as he swooped around the property. The beds were comfortable, the hot tub was well used and overall the house was a good deal for the money. The house was clean, well maintained and the property managers were pleasant to deal with. Our only complaint was regarding the kitchen....we as regular renters of vacation properties and "foodies" like to do quite a bit of cooking for ourselves. This kitchen was really not set up for that. The stove was not only very complicated to use, but also didn't work about 80% of the time. The dishwasher was iffy at times, the ice machine in the fridge didn't work, the BBQ not that great and the kitchen wasn't that well stocked with serving dishes. We had arranged for a personal chef (Darcy McBride of Dish Personal Chef Service) to cook for us one night and our meal was almost stymied by the stove quitting on us. Thank goodness for the hot plates we found in a storage closet upstairs. I would recommend putting in a simple "north american" gas stove, a new "north american dishwasher, and stocking the kitchen with some more serving dishes in order to make dining at home an easier experience. If you are planning on eating dinner at restaurants most nights, then this house is a perfect match. We highly recommend the Wolf in the Fog for dinner, Tacofino for lunch and Common Loaf for breakfast. Finally, if you are interested in having someone prepare meals for you, contact Darcy McBride #TofinoDish, our experience was incredible. Overall, I would go back to Pacific Retreat, in fact we plan to in August 2017!"

  • Great spot for family vacation

"We had a wonderful time in Qualicum beach. This home had everything we needed for a wonderful relaxing family vacation. It was very clean and well equipped. The beach was a great spot for seachring for sand dollars and other interesting sea creatures. I would highly recommend this home and would return again if my travels bring me back to Vancouver Island."
