"The gorgeous weather definitely helped, and my family and I had a wonderful stay. We used the kayak, the intertubes, the grill, enjoyed the deck and its views of the water, walked with my 2 girls to the nearby water park, walked to the grocery store in town, etc. And the large, open common area looking out onto the deck and river beyond is just so delightful."

"We enjoyed our two week stay in this well cared for older home. The charming cottage is located within walking distance to downtown Courtenay's amenities including shops, cafes and groceries. Situated in a pleasantly landscaped yard, screened by hedges for privacy, we enjoyed the quiet location. The spacious interior has ample room and adequate cookware to prepare meals, bake a cake or entertain guests. All the appliances work well and the bathroom's clawfoot tub is wonderful for relaxing after a busy day of sight seeing. It's a bonus to have laundry on premises. We have been traveling for 15 months, so appreciated the space to spread out awhile. Maureen is always helpful and concerned about her guests comfort. When the temperature dropped below freezing she called to make certain we were staying warm enough. For convenience to downtown Courtenay and local Farmer's Market, this is hard to beat. We highly recommend you give it a try when visiting in the area. If it's not available, we also have experienced the Chocolate Cottage and it is equally wonderful, just smaller."

"My husband and I, along with my sister and her husband , from Saskatchewan were fortunate enough to stay due to a cancellation. We felt so lucky as we weren't looking forward to hoteling it! We stayed for 2 nights while attending the VI MusicFest last week-end. Wish we could've stayed longer to explore the woodland trails as it was such a tranquil setting. The cottage was very clean ,comfortable and well appointed. Our hosts very engaging and inspirational garden enthusiasts. Thanks again Becci and Keith"

"I stayed here with my 2 rambunctious toddlers while we had renovations done at home. It worked out beautifully for us. We had the boys sleep in the living room in playpens, with the blinds closed (it stays light out past their bed time). Though the kitchen was right there, I was able to just be quiet until they fell asleep. The layout was fantastic for caring for young kids. Laundry room became a play room, etc. The cable TV was appreciated for age-appropriate viewing, and we also used the wifi to access our Netflix account. I work from home normally, so continued to do so here, using the wifi. This was wonderful--looking out across the peaceful yard with nicely maintained garden, and the odd passerby. It is a quiet street--more of a lane. The neighbours are friendly and pointed us in the right direction to walk to nearby parks with play structures (one is very close). It is also within walking distance to the grocery store -- one day I walked over to pick up ingredients for dinner, and was able to do the round trip during my 1/2 hour lunch break. The house is a duplex and our kids are noisy at times but the neighbours didn't seem to mind and/or are forgiving! We enjoyed entertaining family on the patio as the weather was amazing those weeks."
