"We three women enjoyed our escape from the routine at this refreshing waterfront retreat!
The Inn of the Sea resort was a lovely home away from home, with everything we needed. The layout of the suite was perfect for our group with the sliding doors opening out to the seaside. We soaked in the view, filled our lungs with the ocean air, and ambled down the beachfront in the spirit of true beachcombers. We even did a ‘sox and shoes off’ mini detox in a tidal pool - the ocean water and white sand re-energizing us from the bottom up.
With its central location it proved to be a great base camp, perfect for making plans for the day over our homemade breakfast. In Downtown Nanaimo, the home of Asteras Restaurant, a lovely Greek tavern – we enjoyed the best lamb lunch. On another junket and despite the drizzle, we were entertained by browsing the shops in Downtown Duncan, which were full of handmade and local items. We made a ‘must stop’ on our way home at Russell Farm Market for more gifts and local organics, and then a short jaunt home just in time for the dinner special at our favorite and very nearby pub, the Crow & Gate. Yum!
And even when the Rainforest weather descended on the weekend, the suite was the perfect place to bundle up fireside with cozy blankets provided, to read while enjoying the patter of the rain providing further relaxation to our already idyllic retreat.
We are looking forward to the possibility of making it an annual event!

"I recently rented this unit over the Spring Break for some time with my Grandchildren. It was amazing. The unit was spotless with all the comforts of home. Beach walks, bike riding and BBQ's best family holiday yet. I will recommend this unit to everyone."

"We have had the good fortune to stay in many apartments around the world. The "Metro" is among the best. We definitely recommend it. Rod and Melissa are wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcome.

"Stone Tree Cottage and Gardens is everything in Canada that is truly beautiful. An astonishing and breathtaking slice of beauty surrounding and encompassing the Russell family and those fortunate enough to stay awhile in their cottage. Our Fall experience with them was a holiday dream filled with excitement and peace.
Keith and Becci Russell personify quality and style. It isn't very often that you come across a gem when searching in this human pan for gold. We discovered two & it was a pleasure to be in their company. Thoughtful, practical, kind, funny and informative. Their daily work ensures each guest is comfortable in their cottage and in their country. Stone Tree Cottage and Gardens provides an utterly ideal retreat for the naturalists nature lovers or simply someone needing to rejuvenate. It's also ideal for families, couples, singles and adventure seekers as it's close proximity to the surrounding valley and island is fantastic. Everything is within walking distance yet a feeling of distance, time and seclusion envelopes you as you enter through the handcrafted garden doors. The gardens are idyllic and will make your heart sing in appreciation of the beauty of your surrounds. The depth of colours and textures provide so much alluring beauty in every direction and Keith and Becci are on hand to answer any questions you may have about any subject, from botanical names of plants to wildlife spotting areas. They share their experience with zest. This sculptor and artist are clever, creative and practical and their suggestions are thoughtful and sound. Long time locals, this area is their playground and they can guide you off the beaten tracks and beyond, enriching your Canadian experience. If it's solitude you're seeking you won't see them as they are intuitive and respectful to those sharing their space. The cottage is perfectly placed and provides peace and security as well as comfort and care. Spacious, fresh and inviting.
Tucked in between the artsy, eclectic villages nestled at the feet of the majestic Beaufort Mountains and the busy bustle of Courtenay. Tucked in between clean sheets on a bed akin to a cloud. A home away from home.
If Canada and all the beauty of this country and it's people could be popped into an acre. This is it."
