  • Spectacular. Can't wait to return!

"We loved our relaxing stay at 'Surf Side House' Thank you Ines for sharing your beautiful home. The first thing that hits you when you walk onto the property is the stunning unobstructed view of the Pacific Ocean. The word 'Wow' was the first word out of our mouths. This view is enjoyed from that first moment and further showcased through the big windows in the house. We also loved the hot tub perched above the ocean so much! There are so many lovely things to say about this house. The open concept design, a well stocked kitchen with plenty of housewares, a super comfy long couch and reclining chairs, a cozy wood stove, a super comfy king sized bed. The special touches of an abundance of beach towels for the hot tub and a towel at the front door to dry off our little doggies. The tourist brochures, spices in the cupboard, coffee, tea and sugar in the canisters. The outdoor area is charming with views everywhere and offers privacy as well. The patio was a lovely place to watch the wildlife swim by. My husband loved the huge bbq! This beautiful property is close to so many beautiful beaches and parks. Sooke Pot Holes, French Beach and not too far from Jordan River where you can watch the surfers (rain or shine! ) We took a little day trip to Botanical Beach which I highly recommend. Incredible huge waves crashing in. We were so distracted by their beauty that we didn't see the big black bear enjoying the view as well. I don't think we've ever run so fast! There are many fantastic memories that have been made from our stay at your home Ines and I cannot wait for the next time! Thank you!!"

"What an amazing week we spent at the Lighthouse Point retreat celebrating our 40th anniversary. Words just seem inadequate to express the peacefulness, solitude, and pure sense of tranquility that we experienced all week long. Every window had stunning views of either the ocean or the rain forest. No need for TV as the property manager Dawn (who is wonderful) summed it up.. you have the nature channel on 24/7. We saw sea otters, seals, hummingbirds, stellar jays, and had an eagle visit for a couple of days in a nearby tree. We took our chairs close to the ocean front.. my husband fishing off the rocks and myself, gazing at wind formations on the surface of the water, or the large ships in the distance or just listening to the waves crash on the rocks below. Food for the soul. We had our coffees and applies on the patio and ate all our meals ( except one) with an ocean view table!! Doesn't get any better. The cottage was very elegantly decorated and equipped with everything.. a coffee press which we love, washer and dryer, lovely dishes, impeccably clean bedding and linens and even a first aid kit. They have thought of everything!! This area around Sooke is beyond beautiful and we visited rain forests and amazing beaches that can take your breath away. This sweet cottage was the perfect place for us to celebrate our anniversary.. an oasis in the busyness of life. We left not wanting to leave and are hoping that we one day we can come again. Thank you Eleana."

  • A perfect getaway

"A perfect little getaway. The cottage was charming. There was ample room for my husband and our our two boys. In the morning we saw a baby bunny right outside the window, then about an hour later there was a family of birds, I think they were grouse, running through the yard. There were hummingbirds, and dragon flies, and frogs and goldfish in the pond. The place is just magical. I wish we could have stayed all summer."

  • Our stay at the Sooke River Cottage was nothing short of amazing.

"As soon as we stepped onto this property, our breath was truly taken away. The outside of the cottage has a spanning yard space and a wraparound deck that is fitted with a picnic table, a barbecue, some lounge chairs and even a hot tub! The far end of the yard has steps that lead down to the Sooke River. We spent many days trekking up and down the river or just sitting near the bank admiring our incredible surroundings. I hesitate calling the Sooke River Cottage a cottage at all because it is more like a dream home! Seriously, Gary and Meredith, I want a copy of the blueprints ;). The house has one master bedroom with a washroom just off of it, a spacious sitting and dining area and a loft with another bed and sitting area. The kitchen was fully-equipped with everything we could ever need. All we brought along were a couple spices and we were set for a week of good food! The decorating was impeccable and was filled with all kinds of subtle details that made the cottage feel like a real home. I certainly could have gotten used to living there! When we weren't taking advantage of the amazing home and yard, we ventured out into the charming town of Sooke that has all the necessary amenities and some very friendly locals. If you go to the Village Foods Market, remember to mention you're a tourist - they give you a discount! We also found an off sale liquor store called Buffy's which we used when the provincial liquor board store was closed. The cottage was about an hour's drive from Victoria, and we enjoyed doing some sightseeing there as well. One of my favourite things about the trip was visiting the Sooke River Potholes. It was only 1.5 kilometres from the cottage, and we were pleased with all the hiking we got to do there. We spent almost an entire day at the Potholes, hiking around, swimming, and just enjoying the scenery. It's a picture perfect place that is just steps away from the cottage - what could be better? For beach-goers, we were about a 30-40 minute drive from the Juan de Fuca straight/ West Coast. We visited the popular French Beach, but my favourite spot was Sandcut Beach. It wasn't as busy, had a small hike from the parking lot to the beach, and we spent an entire day going up and down the beach enjoying the mountain view - fantastic! Our stay in Sooke was truly phenomenal. Gary and Meredith were amazing hosts who were incredibly welcoming and kind. I hope we will be able to return again soon. You gotta stay here! :)"
