"Delightful little upstairs studio perched on cliff overlooking the Sooke Basin - Magnificent views and sunsets! Clean, well equipped unit (lots of towels and linens) with very comfortable bed. Sofa bed ok for a child. The gardens are beautiful and tranquil. A well constructed set of 120 stairs leads down the cliff to a very small rocky cove where you can launch one of the many kayaks (a selection of life jackets is available). The common shared BBQ patio is at the bottom of the steps to the Eagle's Nest deck. We were fortunate that no guests were in Bear's Den below us, otherwise we would have felt too close. BBQ is new and well looked after. The patio chairs and table are new and comfortable for 4 people. The owner lives in the house beside the patio and we did feel like we were in his yard. We would definitely return - however we wish to share some notes which may help prospective guests. Bring your own deck chairs; the supplied ones are very small hard round metal folding chairs and extremely uncomfortable. If you are coming with pets or small children be aware that the windows (except a small one at the back) are not screened, and open outwards. On hot days the windows and doors need to be open; it is a loft with no insulation in ceiling! The bathroom is narrow with very small sink and shower, and the door gets stuck if you open fully so narrow opening too. The hot and cold water taps are reversed. Parking is about 200 feet from the cottage and through gates so think about the amount of stuff you want to tote up the hill. The wireless internet does not work with the instructions supplied and there is no modem. We had to ask the owner next door to attach us to his internet and then it only works when you sit in front of his yard."

"The house is just wonderful with a view of the ocean from every room. Nice and clean with all the needs of your own home. Seals to greet you each morning and the smell of the ocean. The hot tub was so nice after a good hike at East Sooke and other beautiful parks that surround Sooke. Thanks Judy & Don it was an excellent week for us to unwind and get ready for the rest of the year. Would definitely return to your gem on the ocean.

"My husband and I stayed with our 8-year-old son for two nights. Ruma is very warm and hospitable. Her guest house was perfect for us - a loft for our son and queen bed for us. The location is ideal because it is very close to town without feeling busy. Perfect place for us to rest our heads at night after hiking and exploring the area during the day."

"My husband and I booked this property to have some time with our family and their children. We felt so at home and taken care of. We always come to Sooke off season because of our jobs and find the weather on the island more tolerable then what we endure where we live. This house is a sanctuary and provides all we need, warmth, charm, comfort, convenience and a fantastic view. We love the sky lights and all the roaming room. The kitchen was just the right size and well stocked. I did miss my favourite knives lol. This so far has been our place of choice and have already booked next year. Kirk is a fantastic contact if you need anything and the Scott's are very easy to talk to and to deal with. Thanks for sharing your home with us."
